Not as good the second time around
Met a friend (why is "dining with a friend" not included in #2 above?). The bread was fantastic, the heirloom salad quite good, but the entrees were a bit of a disappointment. No lumps in the crabcakes and honestly probably the least good rockfish I've had...i'm not sure it actually was rockfish, and I'm not sure it was completely cooked. The dessert cheese plate was good, but i was disappointed that they don't offer sherry and I didn't feel like spending $15 for a Taylor port. The rail drinks were expensive too...$14 for a gimlet made with Smirnoff's??

Staff is very nice & very attentive, but not overbearing. Food was excellent, good wine selection, but Dinner was a little pricey with a bottle of wine. Still, I'll be back & with family or friends...

Still excellent the 2nd time around
We were very pleased with the excellent food and service. We had the lamb meatball and heiirloom tomato (on special) apps, and the crab cakes and short ribs with paparadelle (all excellent). The bread was unbelievably good. We had the same chardonnay we had had the first time we were here--Campus Oaks--which was very nice, and half-price on a Sunday evening!

Intriguing Menu, Pleasant Setting
My choices from the thoughtful and diverse menu choices including a grilled octopus appetizer (delish!) and rockfish en papillote. My dining partner enjoyed a wonderful grapefruit infused vodka cocktail which she pronounced delightful. While the noise level was a tad high, the room is lovely and the service good.

above and beyond good service
Had a late lunch with my mom here and really loved it. Our waiter José G. was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and just the right amount of attentive without being over bearing. It can be difficult waiting on women who are catching up and he did an amazing job. The chef de cuisine Mathew was also incredibly kind and friendly, even noticed we were chilly without us saying and turned down the A.C..its the little things. The wine list is awesome, and the food was so beautiful we barely wanted to disturb it. Olive Oil is out of this world. All in all a great spot..looking forward to checking out the dinner menu. It was the perfect mix of relaxed and upscale to fit any occasion.
8/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a very nice lunch with good food, great service in a perfect setting. The friendliness of the wait staff made the experience extra nice. A nice casual contrast to the formality (not in a bad way) of Marcels.

Good option in Wildwood SC
Definitely the best choice in Wildwood SC and the area in general. Food is very good.

Wonderful, but expensive
Great great neighborhood restaurant. The bartenders are true mixologists...create drinks based on your tastes and styles. Really special. Service was super. The food delicious (oh.. try the lamb meatballs). the only thing that would prevent this becoming our favorite place to go...is the price. All in about 20-30% more expensive than a typical upscale restaurant. With tax and tip...a cocktail is about 20 dollars. So..this will be a neigborhood restaurant reserved for special occasions only.

Great Service with Good Food
Had a very pleasant meal. Our waiter, Robert, was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. He was very confident at the table which made for a relaxed evening that we enjoyed. Will return soon and request Robert as our waiter.

Always a good experience
Have eaten at Wildwood Kitchen four times now over the last six months, and it has always been a good experience. Upscale dining in a casual atmosphere in the suburbs. A great idea!
8/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Even the ordinary things on the menu taste bettter than anywhere else. The portions are modest especially given the prices, but you don't go home hungry. Prices are kind of high. If you are watching your weight, you might want to go somewhere else bc there are not many menu options for dieters, and temptation to stray is high. A nice touch is they ask if you want bread before bringing it.
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
excellent for fine eaters
Restaurant is a shop front in a high end strip in Bethesda, with
a renown chef who sets the menu. We tried many dishes. Only problem
was talkative neighbors.

A very nice experience. We
A very nice experience. We went in for the fixed price pre six pm menu. Started with a little charcuterie and cheese. Very well portioned for the price. It was delivered to our table by a manager who did not know what was what . We then moved to the Salmon tartar and it was very refreshing. The price fix was very good I had the salad which was delicious. Baby greens, goat chz, toasted chic peas and raspberries yummy. For the main I had the Duck confit which was generously portioned. Thanks to our server Jonothan he did a very good job.

Fine for Birthday
My wife and I have our birthdays a few days apart and wanted a restaurant suitable for celebrating the occasion. Wildwood Kitchen was exactly the right choice. The food and wine were great and we were particularly pleased with the service. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and responsive. We had some difficulty dealing with the noise level, which appears to be common to many restaurants. Nevertheless, we definitely would go there again.
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
The chef and staff were very accommodating when they learned of my food allergy. The food was delicious!
8/30/2013 5:00:00 PM
Great little place!
Very friendly place with excellent food. We really enjoy it every time we go there.
9/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Received a gift certificate for this restaurant and the experience surpassed my expectations. The food was outstanding as expected but I was most impressed by the wait staff. Attentive, gracious, and friendly. They seem really passionate about working at this establishment. Was not impressed by the dessert menu but everything else was superb - be sure to try the Scallops appetizer. Fantastic drinks as well. This is great place to bring out of town guests - prices were very reasonable particularly given the quality of the food.

We enjoyed the good food and
We enjoyed the good food and service. At the same time, we found the portions rather small and it was too noisy.

Great Food; Excellent Value
This was our 2nd visit. Attractive layout. Excellent and very attentive service. Nicely presented and creative food. Very generous wine pours. It is a small restaurant but we never have a problem booking a table. Highly recommended.
9/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
We live nearby and have eaten here before, and on those occasions we were dazzled by the drinks and service that we received at the bar. On this night, the usual bartender was absent, so I can't say much about that part of the restaurant. At the table, however, our service was spot-on and the food was divine.
Much to our surprise, they offered a half-off special on bottles of wine under $60 (was it because we came on a Sunday evening?), which only added to the festive mood of our dinner.
9/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food is Great...Service not so much
We ordered menu items as well as specials and found both to be terrific! A salad with apples, blue cheese, and bacon was delicious and definitely would order again. Service was slow and inept: we were served wrong entrees, someone else's coffee order, and the waiter forgot to ask if we wanted to order the chocolate souffle which takes a half hour. Maybe sill working out kinks??
9/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food, mixed up service
I took a friend there to celebrate her engagement. It took awhile to get someone to come over to order our wine (very expensive wine list for a neighborhood place). Then we ordered 2 appetizers and one dinner. They brought one appetizer over. Then after awhile they brought the dinner over. Forgot the second appetizer. (There was a waitor AND another one in training waiting on us). Brought our coffee to the wrong table. They were nice about it, gave us a free glass of wine and dessert. Handled it well. But, thought for this restaurant and the quality of food and their prices, the service should have been better.

First time there and we were
First time there and we were impressed. We are generally impressed with Robert Weidmaier's restaurants and this did not dissapoint. The menus is interetsing and had us wanting to try numerous dishes. Food quality, preparation, and presentation were very good. Service was good and our server was attentive. I wouod love to see a few more wines on their list. Looking forward to another night out at Wildwood Kitchen.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
My first time at this restaurant, obviously have heard much about Wiedmaier and his other establishments--Marcel's, Mussel Bars, Brasserie Beck, etc. We were not disappointed, the food was great. Although the menu was a bit limited, it was supplemented with a couple of specials and I think it's better for a restaurant to do a few things really well rather than many offerings poorly done. Will be back
9/23/2013 5:00:00 PM
Felt rushed. Not enough time was allowed between courses. Did not feel relaxed. Meal was otherwise excellent.
9/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Food/Expensive Wine
Food is FANTASTIC! Wine list is eclectic and nuanced, but prices are 3x retail prices - should be more 2x or charge a corkage fee.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Pleasant dining in the neighborhood
We had a lovely dinner with friends without driving into downtown Bethesda. Good food, nice atmosphere and service.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great neighborhood spot
I don't even live in the neighborhood, but loved this restaurant. The food was great and the service was wonderful. I highly recommend this to those either in or out of the neighborhood.

Low key off shoot from Marcels chef
Don't worry about the suburban location here...the parking is free and easy and the food is excellent. Service was spot on professional. If you are looking for wonderful food in a relaxed setting away from packed, noisy (very young) crowd you will find it here.
They thoughfully gave us a glass of champagne when our table was not ready right on time.

Wildwood Kitchen a little gem
Wildwood Kitchen gave us one of the best meals in recent memory. The duck liver pate ( cylinder rolled in hazelnuts and cut into coins) was outstanding and a different take on this dish. My wife had salmon with polenta. The fish was perfectly cooked and the polenta (which she doesn't usually like) was delicious. My duck best was one of the best I've ever had; tender, juicy, and flavorful. I was able to change the side from cabbage to a potato/Gruyere mixture which was excellent. Overall, a pretty perfect meal. Service was perfect; responsive, but not intrusive. A nice change, was a relatively quiet dining room, so we were able to converse without raising our voices. That seems to be rare these days.

Great food and service
I took my wife for our wedding anniversary and we had a great time.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
It was a great evening from the start. This was our second time dining at Wildwood Kitchen and we will definitely go back!
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
The perfect rush
The food is excellent. Ordered steak and it came cooked to order we also had salmon with special requirements. This was handeled by the wait staff correctly and the chef cooked it to perfection. However, the meal cost reflects the service and the food, but the wait staff seem to have been instructed to make sure to turn the tables in as short a period as possible. At these prices we should have had a dinning experience not a speed experience. Do not misunderstand the staff was courteous, kind and attentive, (experienced) One gets the feeling that management has something to do with the speed of the service.

Always a good time...
Food and service have always been very good. LOVE the bread plate and chocolate mousse napoleon!! I bring friends here who have never been and we always have a great time. Also, go with your significant other and have dessert and a made up cocktail to pair with it and you've got yourself a fun date spot as well!
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Little Place
Overall, a nice night. All food was interesting, seasonal, and well prepared. Lot of comments about portion size in reviews, and while not large, certainly plenty of food if you are having more than a single entree. The service was much better than many commented about. Attentive and professional - if a little stiff and scripted - but attentive is better than rude or being ignored. Not the rave review of my first outing, but I would definitely go back.
11/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a great meal and experience at Wildwood Kitchen. We had approximately 3-4 folks check on us, from host to our waitress. This sounds like a lot, but the drop-by service was well-timed and managed to feel genuine without being intrusive. It was notable. The menu may be limited, but excellent!! I am grateful to have fewer exquisitely prepared selections, than a smorgasbord of mediocre! Good luck to Wildwood Kitchen's owner & staff! I wish you well; I'll be back!

Gets it right
All the staff are friendly and attentive. They really seem to care about the food and solicitously ensure their diners are enjoying it. And the food is indeed spot on. It is better to have a limited menu that shines, than an extensive but mediocre one. Wildwood's kitchen turns everything out wonderfully. Yummy salads. One time we had divine duck breast. Oh my goodness, the duck liver pâté, made lovingly (you can feel it) in-house. It is the richest, most melt-in-your-mouth I've ever had; my mouth is watering just writing about it. And the tender, cloudy, warm, table bread drizzled with olive oil is a treat alone or with the pâté, or any other excuse to eat more!

Really good food. Moderately
Really good food. Moderately priced in a convenient suburban location. Nice decor, excellent service. Went twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. They were the best meals we had while visiting Bethesda/Rockville.

Great family dinner with teenagers
We loved the food, very fresh and healthy and sensible portions. The service was great; explained everything very well, friendly but always low-key and no interrupting. Atmosphere is great, like a high-end pub, cozy, quiet, nice lighting.

Always a Gem
This is our third time at Wildwood Kitchen in 3 months, with the same foodie companions. This time it was a well chosen place for a special birthday dinner, and it was perfect.

Birthday dinner in my own backyard
Decided to avoid rush hour traffic and visit a new local spot for my midweek dinner. From the moment we entered the restaurant the evening was a hit! There is a pleasant buzz of activity, the look is very nice and we were treated warmly. The menu has a good mix of options and the evening specials were well explained. We both chose fish for our entrees and each was prepared as ordered with novel sides. The chef stopped by our table to make certain all was to our liking, even bringing the dishes himself. All this without us letting them know we were celebrating. We will definitely return!
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
Our waiter was very personable and professional. The food was very good, and, in some cases, also creative. Props for the pumpkin soup and braised beef in particular. That said, the prices are too high, the choices (# of entrees, in particular) a bit too few, and the menu is not kid friendly (particularly at those prices).
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
This was our fourth visit and I believe they have hit their stride. Great service and food. Vast improvement over the last visit. Will highly recommend Wildwood to our local friends and neighbors. Thank you very much. Please keep up the good work.
11/18/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food was phenomenal as
The food was phenomenal as always. My companion had a problem with her wine request, probably because she expected more expertise than was present on a Sunday night. But the staff was great about getting it straightened out. We stayed for quite a while and never felt rushed. The service was very attentive but not intrusive - really a phenomenal addition to our neighborhood.

Outstanding food and service.
Outstanding food and service. Much better than the price suggests. Will keep coming back and recommend to friends (but not too many.)

A vry enjoyable experience
From start to finish my group of four was welcomed and made comfortable, and the food and service were excellent. A memorable experience.

Third time here - as previously great. Wonderful place to reconnect with friends seen infrequently, able to chat and enjoy/share great food. Server was very knowledgeable about wines, etc.

This place had great food.
This place had great food. Everything we ordered was delicious. The crowd was little on the older side. 50-60's. Wish it attracted a few more young folks in their 30's.

Everything was perfect!
Downtown food/better-than-downtown dining experience at suburban prices. Convenient location not far off 270 and 495 makes it ideal for meeting up with friends. And parking is easy. The roomy booths provide plenty of comfortable space for 4 adults while providing a sense of privacy. We can't wait to come back and plan to do so OFTEN...love this place!

We had the prix fix menu and the waitress seemed annoyed. We do not drink and if they do no want to serve the prix fix menu they shouldn't offer it. It made the experience uncomfortable for us. I did leavea 20% tip.
