Off to a fine start.
Seeing that The Vestry had just recently opened and planning on seeing a show at The Chapel, I figured this would make a fine pre-show stop. Initially seated in the courtyard, we discovered the stools for the two-tops were a bit to uncomfortable for anything more than a drink, so we were courteously brought to one of the communal tables inside.
The wine selection was respectable. Entrees were quite good. The Toulouse sausage with sauerkraut and pickled turnips was perfectly complimentary. The meatballs were also very good, although the sauce was a little over seasoned. Dessert was spot on, with the brioche doughnuts taking a star turn, along with brilliant cheesecake-in-a-mason-jar.

Fun at the Vestry
The Vestry is a great spot not only for dinner, but late night dining (kitchen open until 1), great expansive bar scene and even a bit of entertainment next door at the Chapel. As we were familiar with the menu at A Cote, the Vestry's "sister" restaurant in Rockridge, we were pleasantly surprised to see very familiar options on the menu but at a lower price point. The flatbread (nectarine and prosciutto) was to die for, definitely get the meatballs and try one of their signature cocktails just for fun. If you're a creature of habit and know your drink, they have a great bar and are completely open to making your drink of choice for you, and generously offer to spice up the drink with ingredients you may not have chosen before. Great spot!

good food/good prices
A good selection of dishes. Their salads interesting and different. Also very tastey. The big mushrooms in the broth for the chicken tortolloni were delicious. The server could have been more attentive, but he was very friendly when he did come around.

Seems to also have a great music scene. Definitely get the burger next time.

My favorite restaurant
Been 3x since it opened and I love it every time. My goal is to become a regular before this place undoubtedly blows up. Honestly don't think I could be disappointed with a meal here. And the bartender makes a mean old fashion.

A birthday night to remember
I booked on-line for a special night out on my birthday. My wife and I were in town from Santa Barbara and thought we'd catch The Reverend Horton Heat. Not knowing SF too well we took our chances and settled for both dinner and show at the Vestry. It couldn't have been better. We were made very welcome by your manager Nate and waitress Alex. They were attentive and provided exceptional service. I might add that I am known to be very picky. We would both like to extend our gratitude for making our evening with you one to remember. The ambiance in the dinning area made us very comfortable. I'm glad you provided an opportunity for us to comment. Many thanks.

Good service and great food
I went here with my wife before a show at the Chapel. We really enjoyed our dinner; we started with the chantrelle flatbread which was rich and flavorful, done just right. For entrees my wife had the radiatore pasta with kale and squash, it was very tasty. I'm not a huge fan of either kale or squash but this was delicious. I was a bit less enamored with my Sardinian sausage with fregola past...it was okay but nothing exceptional. Still not a bad dinner.
The dessert sealed the deal for us, we go the "It IS it", a delicious (and generously portioned) serving of ice cream with oatmeal cookie, toffee, and a hard chocolage fudge shell. Great way to round out the meal.
We'll definitely be back. The brunch seems to get good reviews.
