Wow wow wow
We've been passing by and ogling this gorgeous new restaurant, which opened last month but we only got to to check it out Sunday night. Amazing food, super high quality and astounding freshness. I ordered all seafood for dinner, crudii di mare with langoustine, Branzino tartare and yellowfin tuna battuta, and the fish gauzzeto, like a bouillabaisse, which I finished and sopped up to he last drop. Hubby had the octopus starter and steak tagliata, which he proclaimed to be as good as Sparks. Good wine selection, lots of inexpensive $40 bottles to Salon champagne and thousand dollar Masseto. Warm and accommodating staff. The owners really care. I wish I could eat here everyday. Thanks for giving the East Village a beautiful dining spot!

Still in the soft opening phase, but food was terrific-- our table of 6 all agreed that everything was well-prepared and beautifully presented. Luscious risotto, nice crudo, braised veal check on polenta succulent; superb sorbets, especially the white peach (the dessert list was disappointingly conventional, given the well-thought out savory courses). Only the vitello tonnato was a bit tarted up, with unnecessary fruit garnish that distracted from the traditional dish. If only something could be done about the deafening noise. . . We will happily return.

Casual fine dining and warm service
We hosted a brunch baby shower 3 weeks earlier. The food was excellent and the service was warm, attentive, and genuine. I came back to take my wife to try the dinner menu for her birthday. Alex immediately recognized us and came to welcome us with hugs. Complimentary proseccos followed shortly after. Every dish was delicious. The flavors were clean and flavorful, but not heavy. The co-owner, Giselle, made sure to stop by a few times to check in and to chat about how fun the baby shower had been. She even provided more complimentary wine and dessert (with birthday candle). I'm not saying everyone will get complimentaries. They didn't have to be so generous to us really, but they were. We definitely felt like VIP's! This place is special.

Elegant neighborhood gem
Fantastic meal. The chef's depth of experience working for Cipriani and Armani Ristorante resonates in the flawless execution of each dish. The food is beautiful as is the presentation. Very clean simple flavors highlighting the natural intonations of the ingredients and seasonality of the product. We ate: softshell crab (not greasy) w tomato salad (good acid) & celery root puree, braised octopus w tomato salad & pickled onion, duck two ways: leg confit (fell off the bone) w potato gallette (unctuous) and seared (crispy perfection) breast (tender & juicy) w Grand Marnier and jus. For dessert a vanilla bean millefoglie w strawberry sauce and chocolate ganache. The chef also sent out a trio of sorbeti/gelati: orange, white peach, coconut.

We've been to East 12th Osteria
We've been to East 12th Osteria twice, and each time we had a very nice experience. The food is very good -- I had the duck. And, the service is terrific, friendly and present, but not overly so. On summer evenings the windows are left open which gives it a really nice feel ... and not too cold.

E 12th Street Osteria - Awesome
Delicious and beautifully presented food. The chef is a true artist, composing an interesting yet accessible menu from fresh, seasonal ingredients. Fish, shellfish and vegetables are perfection, as are house made gelati and sorbetti. Wonderful welcome and ambience provided by knowledgable and attentive staff. Space is elegant and relaxed. Not to be missed.

This was my third visit to this new restaurant, and there will be a fourth, fifth and sixth, at least. It's pricey for the neighborhood but so good that it's worth a few nights of beans at home to prepare.
On the evening we went the specials featured chanterelle mushrooms, celebrating the season in France. It was hard to decide between the pasta with lobster and chanterelles and the tagliarini drenched in olive oil and a whisper of garlic with chanterelles. (I chose the latter.) The appetizer--chopped leaves of baby artichoikes in mashed avocado, encased in thinly sliced parmesan--was suberb. Although I am not crazy about sorbets the Osteria's versions may have changed my tastes; the grape sorbet was almost as creamy as ice cream.

Elegant, yet approachable
This is the second time I have eaten at East 12th Osteria and again it was a wonderful meal. Every dish is always beautifully executed and delicious. We shared the braised octopus, shaved artichoke and avocado salad, gnoccetti with crabmeat, and a special appetizer of porcini mushrooms, lobster, and burrata. Everything was truly fantastic - as to be expected at this point! We did order the chocolate cake for dessert which was also beautifully executed and delicious - classic - but would have expected a twist somehow, or benefitted from a tart fruit puree.

Went to this restaurant based
Went to this restaurant based on a review in a newspaper and had high expectations. It did not disappoint. All of the dishes were excellent and their preparations were unusual and exceptional. The server was pleasant and well informed about all of the menu offerings. Each dish was individually prepared with care. The result was time between courses, but not to such an extent that one would say service was slow. The dining space is somewhat small, however it was laid out such that it did not feel overcrowed. The floor to ceiling glass walls on the two street sides of the space helped to provide and open feeling that prevented feeling cramped in a small space. The wine list was varied both as to price and styles and quite adequate.

A new favorite
We had an exquisite meal. Everything was expertly prepared.Try the specials as well as the classics. Great dishes come out of the small kitchen manned by 3. The bread made in house comes out of the kitchen piping hot from the oven. The pasta is made in house too. It's light & delicate. One of our guests had ravioli with truffle shavings. The truffles were so fresh you could smell them leaving the kitchen. From classic veal Milanese to vegetarian risotto, there is something for everyone. The wait staff was professional & courteous.

Local gem with destination appeal.
Entrees we had were sublime, really done to perfection. Appetizers were good, but had room for improvement. We would recommend the restaurant to our social network. Keep up the good work. Chef/ owner restaurant with everything made fresh daily are strong selling points.

The food was home made even the bread, breadsticks and ice cream. Innovative Italian cuisine. Loved the duck, the truffle ravioli, the octopus, the pasta bolognese and the desserts. Sparkly and elegant setting yet low key. We could have a civilized conversation with normal sound levels. Caring, attentive service. Truly enjoyed dinner and will come back with my discriminating foodie friends.

Food was okay, but we had
Food was okay, but we had the Thanksgiving special, so I'm sure it was different from what they normally serve. Service was good, we had no questions, he took orders and then left. Busser refilled waters, but left them empty for a while on occasion. Pretty busy, food came out in a timely fashion. Overall satisfied, nothing amazing though.

What a fantastic meal at this
What a fantastic meal at this east village gem! The staff could not have been more attentive and helpful, although never in an over-the-top or irritating way. The tuna tartare was amazing - a large portion, and an extremely good quality piece of fish - and my fellow diner had the mixed seafood fritte, which he loved. The chef surprised us with an exquisitely cooked scallop each between courses, and then the main courses arrived - they were equally large and very tasty. I will definitely be back; it was worth every penny. The brunch menu also looks great.

nice little village spot
Not bad, but at the similar price point I prefer the restaurant one block up the street or else several on the west side. Service was with a smile, but communication a bit strained and always with the feeling there was something else more important going on in the restaurant than your meal…even while hardly anyone else was there.
