Very much enjoyed my experience
Very much enjoyed my experience at the Greenwich Project. The combination of delicious food, good service and really enjoyable ambiance made for a delightful experience. We ordered a couple appetizers and one main course and were impressed by each.

The "Project" restaurant group
The "Project" restaurant group has done it again. The food is very special and the rooms, up and down are lovely from the spacing of the tables to the decor. The service is still uneven but it has open been open 2.5 weeks so once they iron out the kinks, this restaurant will compete for foodies attention. Overall very good to excellent.

Great neighborhood gem
The food & drinks exceeded expectations, the service was great. It's new and had no problem getting a table by the window. Interior was nice, the wait staff was attentive and polite. Great for brunch. I would recommend it.

Excellent food with an awesome waiter (Jesse). The place was empty by 2:30PM which is why the scene wasn't what I was expecting. The food also took a bit too long considering the place was empty and portions were tiny.

8th Street is Looking good
A nice lively bar scene on the ground floor with a serene & chic dinning room upstairs. Good, friendly servers and great food. ALready making plans for a return visit.

Even though the interior decoration is a mix of good taste bad taste, and the menu can feel a little bit complicated and trying too hard, the food is actualy extremely good and creative. Portion are generous but not too much. Service is adorable. Few more weeks and this place is going to be very popular I'm sure.

We didn't sit upstairs, but the ambience upstairs is terrific, with seats in the front of the restaurant overlooking 8th Street.
We shared the whole black bass for two, and also ordered a set of three vegetable sides. Everything was outstanding.
Dessert? Not usually, but we ordered the donuts ... served warm, these beignets were out of this world. The portion is fine for three people!
I can't wait to return.

Jesse waited on our table
Jesse waited on our table at the recommendation of some friends. He was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu and made some fabulous recommendations. It was our first time visiting w/ another couple and really enjoyed the experience. To top off a great evening, we received cookies complements of the restaurant which was a very special touch. Recommend sitting upstairs.

Top Notch Arrival on 8th Street
For a great dining experience, ask to sit upstairs. For a more active scene, try downstairs. The decor is very nice and the staff was very welcoming and polite. Our server was terrific, with just the right amount of attention and explanation. The tasting menu with wine pairings was extermely well thought out with a terrific variety of tastes and perfect sized portions. The meal went a little long with the multiple courses but was the perfect night out.

tasting menu was delightful, executed with perfection. cant wait to go back!

Elder-friendly: stylish but kind
On a busy Saturday night, the amazing staff collaborated in making sure we had a great meal & best possible shot at conversation despite serious clangor. Unlike too many other happening restaurants we've visited, this one shouldered the responsibility for the sound level rather than making us feel guilty or ashamed because we have age-related hearing loss. As a longtime chef, caterer, & food writer, I'm convinced that noise occludes the taste buds. But even missing some of the notes, raves for a piney gin cocktail, the Asian-influenced lobster knuckle starter, & a perfectly rare & succulent rib-eye, all fairly priced. We'll return--at an off hour.

A gem on 8th St...not where
A gem on 8th St...not where you might expect.
But there is am emerging restaurant scene on that block..and Greenwich Project is one of the brightest new arrivals.

Went with 4 girlfriends and sat downstairs in a quaint and comfortable booth. The server was very attentive and took our drink orders quickly. We opted for the $40 bottles of wine (a very extensive $40 bottle list, complete with reds, whites & roses). We started off the the small plates (three for $23!), which included beets with vadouvan granola and 2 knuckle "sangwiches" with tempura avocado (absolutely amazing!), tuna tartare and house made burrata. For our mains, we had roasted branzino, a great light option and definitely filling, along with a dry aged burger and house made cavatelli. Absolutely no complaints on the food and service, both were flawless! I already made my reservation to come back next week. Hooked on Greenwich Project!

The Perfect Meal
Fresh doughnut peaches tossed with basil and scented olive oil. Peekytoe crab salad with bits of pink grapefruit. A plank grilled, wild-caught Coho salmon for two with fresh chervil, accompanied by grilled golden beets. A well-priced bottle of Wm Fevre Chablis.
If you go early and sit upstairs, you can linger over the flavors. By 9:00, the scene of young, fashionable, very attractive professionals takes over and the volume rises substantially.

Had a fantastic meal. The service is on par with a 4-star restaurant, reminded me of EMP. The wine list is solid and well priced. Downstairs is a casual restaurant and bar and upstairs is a prefix menu. Upstairs space is really cool and much recommended

It seems that the shoe stores have all turned into fun restaurants, and Greenwich Project is my favorite on the block. I have been several times and love the delicious food, creative drinks, wonderful service, and inviting atmosphere. Everyone who has tried it with me seems to agree that we've discovered a local gem.

Delightful Village spot
Wonderful food, carefully prepared. Be sure to try one of the fresh-pressed juices and delightful crafted cocktails. Can't wait to return for an evening meal.

If you haven't been yet GO NOW
We were seated at the table overlooking 9th street. Our waitress arrived and welcomed us warmly, introducing the wine and cocktail list and inquiring our water preference. Without missing a beat warm biscuits & housemade butter arrive at the table. Our waitress,Stacey, returns to our table and per our request recommends the east side for my date and brickhouse for me because of my love for bourbon and that I was ordering the pork chop. This is what we ate: ½ dozen oysters, sweet potato soup, pear salad, scallops & bacon, pork chop, roasted cauliflower. Everything tasted superb, so much that I scrap each plate for me- not that it wasn’t enough I just wanted more. We shared doughnuts for dessert. It was perfect. Great restaurant!
9/30/2013 5:00:00 PM
Food, cocktails and ambiance all were amazing. I sat at the bar with a friend, had a few cardamom collins and 2 sets of the 3 for $23 small plates. Food and service are on point.

Great spot but expensive
This restaurant has a great design, a little romantic, a little Art Deco, still modern and a hot spot. The food is good and tasty. The negative thing is the price/value and the slow service. We waited for some time even when the restaurant was half empty. The wine list is good but there are not many wines with prices under 60$ a bottle. The portions are very small and expensive. The beet salad has not more then 4 little prices on the plate and some fraction of goat cheese, and this for over $15! There is some room for improvement. Overall great spot but expensive.

Was looking for a decent meal before a show in the Village. Researched, found the Project and gambled. Turned out great. Maybe expectations were low but the drinks, dinner and wine were outstanding. We were very early and the only diners upstairs. More of a bar scene downstairs. Nice window table to view the goings on in the village streets. Smallish but good.

I was pleasantly surprised
I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. My cocktail was very good as well. It's a bit of an awkward open area on the first floor which detracts from the atmosphere...makes it feel like more of a bar instead of a place you want to have dinner. The bus boys were very attentive. The waiter not so much. I only saw the upstairs briefly but it looks like a nice space for larger groups.

Loved everything about it!
The food was amazing, the service was great and I loved how the interior design!

Service and Service were great! It can get a bit loud however it did not bother us. I highly recommend!

My latest 'Project'!
Loved this place! Bright, cheery, hip and friendly vibe. The place is a bit loud but convivial. Our waitress was effusive and knowledgable and attentive. A small but varied wine list...menu had a little bit of everything...sweetbread dish a bit odd, ironically it's called the Odd Couple. I dunno - sweetbreads and snails?? My tuna tartare was fresh and tasty. Salad was crisp and delicious dressing. Branzino and scallops with bacon were great - Berkshire pork chop a bit ho-hum. Everyone who dines here MUST get the doughnuts! Delish! And hot! All in, a nice new Village spot that's fun and comfy.
Yes, the food could be a tad better, but hopefully they'll work out the minor kinks in the kitchen.
10/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
When it opened, the reviews weren't great, but I saw that recent reviews were much more positive and we decided to give it a try. The food was awesome! Great use of seasonal vegetables, and the dishes were flavorful and unique. Also, we were sharing and they brought everything out split onto two places, which was really nice Highly recommend the brussels sprouts.
Great wine list.
We sat upstairs, which sort of looks like an art gallery and is very pleasant. There were too large parties so it got a little loud , but otherwise great ambiance.

Fantastic Food, Great Service
Very impressed with the balanced ambiance- a little glam with rustic Greenwich Village charm. All of the staff are very attentive and genuinely friendly.
The drinks: I am not a gin fan, e.g. HATE gin. I was told that the mixologist highly recommended a gin drink. It was awesome- fresh, vibrant, and a great combo of flavors.
The food: WOW, the sweet potato soup was my starter, and I would rate it amazing if it weren't for the marshmallows (they were covered in some kind of spicier pepper) and the combo of flavors was not a favorite. Though the soup is still definitely worth a taste! The brick chicken was my main course and was VERY moist, flavorful, and rich, paired with the perfect "autumn" vegetables.

Great Drinks, beautiful Space
The space is absolutely beautiful, the bar especially is very attractive. The drinks were amazing, inventive and tasty. However, the dinner we had was so overly salty and greasy. The biscuits to start were good, but the rosemary butter with them was not quite right. The sweet potato soup was wonderful, but felt like it was missing something...a pumpkin brittle or candied bacon maybe? The sides were the disappointing part- we got beets, brussel sprouts, and cauliflower...and they were all so salty and greasy. The brussel sprouts were deemed inedible for my brussel sprout loving husband due to the amount of salt. The pork chop was ok, the chicken under the brick was very very good, but again wayyyyy over salted.

delightful 8th st gem!
We were pleased at the new Greenwich Project. Food was great and well prepared. Service was attentive. It was not crowded so the noise level was good-- if it had been busy it might have been rather noisy-- they do play music in the background (unnecessary)
The only disappointment ws the dessert-- much too sweet and very gooey when it should not have been.
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
Nice spot to try
The food was good, the restaurant is very well decorated but if you sit downstairs it is quite loud (DJ -possibly only on the weekends) so if you want to a more quite atmosphere ask to be seated in the upstairs dining room. The cocktails are amazing - the mint/cumcumber vodka one was my favorite.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Had such a great time, the food was amazing the flavors and execution going into it is perfect. As I would expect from Carmine Di Giovanni. We loved the new fall menu. Great utilization of autumn flavors. My wife loved the branzino, such a great dish with a touch of coconut to give you that hmm, (nice touch) I thoroughly enjoyed the cavatelli with short rib. Awesome cold weather dish. Desserts we have special banana something which was amazing can't wait to go back.

We really enjoyed our meal here. I was especially impressed that they accommodated our advance request to have a corner table. Usually when I submit such requests they're never noted. The food is excellent and the staff is lovely. Would definitely come back.

Had a great time heere with a party of 7. Food was better than expected-had the colorado lamb-cooked perfectly and tasty. Are upstairs which is best for large groups as it is a bit loud. Bar scene downstairs was going strong when we came down after dinner.

sweetbreads to die for
odd couple must have after reading about it Manhattan magazine I had to try it and it surely lived up to my expectations. Service was professional and friendly. While being warm and caring at the same time. Salmon with green curry farro packed a good punch of flavor. Finished off by the great cocktails I must say this restaurant is a great find on 8th street. Giving the city some culinary and cocktail fresh air. Something new. Exciting. Vibrant. And most of all flavorful.
