I'd say excellent but
I'd say excellent dining experience but I don't want them to sit on that and think there's no room for improvement. Since the menu changes on a weekly, or maybe daily basis, I'm not sure it'll help if I review every single one of them. All I can say is it was very good and the staff very patient with our inquisition for most of the bits that were served in our plate.
We're definitely coming back and even considering staying at their B&B.

May 23rd dinner
What a dinning experiece! The meal was right up there with, what once use to be, "Cyrus." Ryan our waiter, was right on top of things along with his assistant. We should have visited you long before now! Can't wait to return!

Truly a Special Restaurant!
Cass House Inn & Restaurant is a truly special find. The site is a historic, romantic home set across a street from the ocean. The restaurant is on the main floor with raised ceilings. There are only perhaps nine tables so reservations are a must. The is multi course fixed price with entree option being steak or chicken. And oh my gosh, every course is a treat! We also chose the wine pairing option which enhances the experience. The staff is extremely courteous and knowledgeable of all items on the menu. Add this restaurant to your list of must visits!

Great Meal in Cayucos
My parents surprised my wife and I with a meal out to the Cass House. It was one the best dining experiences we've ever had. We each chose a different tasting menu (there are two options) and split each dish in half to share--between the five main courses and the seven "complements," we had 17 different tastes. The highlight was the Cabassi Ranch Beef (wow!), but the chef's use of produce throughout the meal really sustained the quality of the evening. The sunflower-seed "risotto" was a terrific little dish.
We loved the feel of the historic house and the modern decor. Our waiter was excellent--he balanced formality with fun and did a great job of answering our questions about the different dishes. We can't wait to go back!

Get away to the Central Coast
This was a special 44th anniversary romantic weekend and Cass House was a perfect place for dinner. From the moment we sat down to the first of many delicious dishes on the Sampler menu that was pared with suburb wines we knew we were in for a special evening. We were never hurried and felt like we were the only ones there even though we saw several other tables with smiles on their faces. This is truly a treasure on the central coast and we will travel again to celebrate and enjoy their wonderful meal.

This restaurant can hold its
This restaurant can hold its own in any major city. The tasting and wine pairing is fantastic. The products are all amazingly fresh, many from their own garden. We come in from LA and stay at the inn, which is also amazing, and eat here 3-4 times a year for the last 3 years. Everyone we brought has loved it also. Ryan, the waiter, described the food and wine with such passion. It is obvious that everyone involved in the restaurant loves food and wine and what they do. Eat here!

The Reason to come to Cayukos
There are other reasons to visit this coastal city, but the Cass House Restaurant is what we will always remember. If a heaping plate of steak and potatoes is your idea of a great meal don't bother. However, if you appreciate fresh ingredients, quality, meticulous artistic preparations you will enjoy every bite as we did. The courses are small, beautiful, and bursting with flavors. After finishing twelve courses we could hardly move (glad we were staying there). The wine pairing was a bargain, and the selections went perfectly with the meal. Our server, Ryan, did an outstanding job of explaining each wine, and why it was selected to be poured that evening. Days after dining here we were still raving about the experience. A must try.

Excellent cuisine and service
This was a wonderful dining experience complete with nice ambience and excellent service. The menu was very creative and delicious. Although not inexpensive it is a good value for what you get. A must for celebrating special occasions or just wanting a fine meal. Our server is very knowledgeable about the preparation and is very willing to answer questions. His passion for food was quite evident. We'll be back.

Need five more stars
I can not say enough wonderful things about the Cass House. We travel over six hours at least once a year, just to dine here. Consistently amongst the best meals I have ever had. EVER. Not just Central Coast, not just California, not just United States, but worldwide, EVER.
If you truly appreciate the magic of a memorable meal, look no further

Exceeded Every Expectation
We made a special trip to Cayucos to have dinner at the Cass House for my boyfriend's birthday. He is a wine collector and we love to enjoy beautiful food. From the moment we were greeted to the moment we left, the attention to every detail, the group effort and knowledge of the staff, and the kindness of Grace Lorenzen were beyond impeccable. We appreciated how thoughtful each dish was composed, the freshness of the ingredients, and the flow of how the menu progressed. My boyfriend enjoyed reading the wine list, even though we brought a couple bottles of our own. We did have one glass from the pairing during dinner and both of the paired dessert wines, which sang with the dishes. This is a place for people who love to enjoy life.

Food Tasting with Wine Option
I loved the relaxed and intimate dining experience. We only had to make two decisions, one being wine pairing with our dinner choice. I especially loved the sunflower seed risotto. There are 5 courses from salad through dessert with 6 or 7 different complements. It sounded like too much but all portions are different sized "tastes" so I was able to enjoy each course with gusto. I believe everything is locally sourced or house produced and grown. It shows. Some of the courses were surprisingly rich. This was not what I expected but I was not disappointed. The price is higher than are my usual dining choices so I will likely come here for special occasions rather than a regular night out.

Double Birthday Treat
Went the first time for my daughter's birthday and went back the very next week for a friend's birthday.
Our group includes a private chef, a world traveler, especially of food & wine spots, and an expert on wine and we all agreed this place is as good as anything in the states.

Where Passion Meets Freshness
My fiancée and I dined made a last minute decision to dine here during a weekend getaway; we are extremely grateful to have stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant. The service was fast and friendly and the menu choices were simple, a reflection of the wonderful local ingredients found in the dishes. Though we brought our own wine, at a reasonable corkage price, the wine list was progressive and appropriate. Really loved our experience here; hopefully we will find ourselves in the area again.

From start to finish the staff makes you feel like royalty. Each course was layered with delicious flavors and perfectly paired with great wine. My husband got the Hunter Gatherer and I had the Agrarian - both were stellar. Worth the drive, worth the cost - we will be back!

40th Anniversary treat!
Our three children and their spouses treated us for our 40th wedding Anniversary! The dinner was spectacular and respectfully served by a very knowledgeable waiter, Ryan. I recommend Cass House highly for those who are celebrating an event and want to have memorable memories from that occasion.

The food is fantastic and inventive. The wine pairings are flawless. Ryan and the rest of the staff is fun and knowledgable.
Very small plates and you think you're not going leave full but it just keeps coming. We've been several times and it's always been amazing. The pairing version of the menu is very worth it too.

Stunning venue, excellent food
Cass House is in every way a fine dining experience. This is big city food in a small town location - at its very best. An exceptional value as well.

A real prize
A terrific fixed price menu with great wine pairings. Notable to have this caliber if place on tiny SLO county and really tiny Cayucos.

Dinner at the Cass House is not just dinning out at a high-end restaurant; it is a very special dining experience that is best shared with special people in your life. The cuisine is world class, but don't go to the Cass House just for that, go for the wonderful treat of elegance and warmth that comes the the service and ambiance.
