Great new place on Main Street
Everything was delicious; we enjoyed all of the small plates we ordered and will be back.

Excellent in every way
We really enjoyed our dinner, the ambience, the size of the place (not too big, but not at all cramped) -- the whole thing. The food was truly noteworthy -- very innovative "small plates" that had plenty for every palate. Plenty of selections on the alcohol front, as well. Will definitely return.

We had a very good experience
We had a very good experience here... the food was interesting and tasty and the drinks were great. We had 5 people in our group and they easily accomodated us. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. We ended up ordering about 8 of the "small plates" and 2 desserts and everyone was full in the end. The steak mac & cheese was amazing and the fried brownie dessert was very good. I would definitely come back.

Nice night out
Went out to the Goat's Beard for a special birthday dinner and was very happy with the food, ambience and service. Our waiter was very attentive but not too intrusive. We had the appetizer special which was mongolian dumplings which were fried and very tasty. For entrees we had the salmon stir fry and the steak mac and cheese. The salmon and steak were both cooked perfectly. The gnocci in the mac and cheese were very light and not gummy in the least. We had the fried brownie desert which was a great way to end the meal. I think we'll come back and try to make it down to the bar area for happy hour or a late-night snack and some drinks.

Add to their Menu
The bar area is terrific but a bit noisy. We were there with another couple we had not seen in a while and opted to eat upstairs where it is much quieter. My only complaint - menu a bit limited. Wish they had a few more healthier choices. Three of us had the fish tacos which were delicious. Fish was fried but it was not heavy or oily.

A wonderful experience!
With the downstairs hopping and a rehearsal dinner in full swing on the second floor, our party of six was offered the cozy third floor, which seats 12. It's a great space and we were very comfortable in it!!!...The food is very well prepared, fresh and local, and the waitstaff couldn't have been any nicer!!! They are truly in a league of their own!!!...-Can't wait to return!!!

hotter than hades
a group of friends tried the goat's beard during the july heat wave on one of the most oppressive nights of the week. while the restaurant is large by manayunk standards (2 floors), the kitchen is quite small. we felt bad because as we passed by you could feel the heat pouring out. didn't matter - the chef was still in great spirits and the food didn't suffer any. while they pride themselves on a gluten free selection, i appreciated the vegetarian options to choose from...awesome chunky greek salad with no lettuce - just ripe tomatoes and chunks of the crunchiest cucumbers...fresh feta and legit kalamata olives topped it all off. the falafal was very tasty as well, but it was a bit too soft and fell apart. try the blueberry cocktail!

We arrived on a weeknight at 5:15pm and there was a very loud group at the bar. We quickly determined our ground level seating was far too loud to be enjoyable. Thankfully, they made an exception and moved us upstairs even though it does not normally open until later in the evening.
The food and drinks were all tasty and filling. The heirloom tomatoes, fried risotto, and fried chocolate brownie were all excellent. The falafel plate was tasty. The least exciting part was the veggie burger (good, not great) though the fries that came with it were very tasty. We also enjoyed our wine and draft beer selections.
Will definitely return.

1st time's a charm!
Visited the new restaurant with some great friends & we all had a good time dining outside. The french fries were hot, fresh & delicious! Not one to rave about french fries, but they kept me from eating my actual meal! Fish tacos were not your average size either as they serve a hefty portion. The side of mac & cheese was very good & piping hot! Beer selection & specialty cocktails are great for one that doesn't drink whiskey. My husband ordered the beef jerky, but wasn't a fan. Otherwise, we look forward to going back.

A Great Meal at a Terrific Place
Four of us had dinner at the Goat's Beard Saturday night. The ambience was inviting, the dining area roomy and the food was great. We shared several appetizers - all were great. My buddy and I had the steak mac and cheese; our wives had the fish tacos and scallops. All the food was delicicious and priced reasonably. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We'll be back!

Shrimp appetizer crunchy and colorful. Spiced fries addictive. Very attentive staff. Noise level just shy of deafening.

Definitely plan to return
With all the great restaurants in Manayunk, Goat's Beard was on our list. The bar scene was energetic as well as the crowd outdoors on a great evening. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and helped us make delicious choices for dinner. We enjoyed the savory scallops and chicken tiki masala. The scallops had a perfect combination of taste and tenderness and the chicken had a bit of a "kick" but a great flavor "kick." In addition we ordered the house fries with chill sauce and sour cream and devoured them far too soon. Their craft beer selection was also great as well as the bread pudding dessert. Kelsey, the manager, made sure that not only our dinner but our dining experience was perfect. We will be back.

Food was delicious, reasonably
Food was delicious, reasonably priced. We sat at the bar -- the host, bartender, and servers were very friendly and engaging -- I'd definitely eat here again.

First time at restarant
It was a beautiful evening so we chose to sit outside. Cocktails were very good. Had scallops, very good. It would be a small portion for some. Cheeseburger was tasty. Falafel was excellent. Service was also good. Will return.

Noisy but delicious
The food was delicious and inventive. It was noisy but the food made it worth it.

Very nice selection of bourbons.
Very nice selection of bourbons. The bartender wasn't very generous with his pours though.

Service is spotty
We want to love this restaurant but service is always spotty. Management needs to hire and retain more seasoned servers. The food and atmosphere are what keeps up coming back. Oh, and patience.

Food was delicious. The menu seems like it has been cut down (I never like an over-loaded menu but this seems to be suffering from the opposite problem) and could even use some more diversification but what was available was very good.

Creative menu, great atmosphere
Always looking to try something new, we chose The Goat's Beard. We will return and return soon. The menu was unique and staff knowledgeable. Try the mussels & fries, crispy chick peas, steak & mac & cheese, etc. It's all good!
