My family and I visited the Bistro at Ten Acres for Sunday brunch, and we all agreed it was one of the best brunch meals that we have ever had. The restaurant and bar space have been beautifully renovated. The wide pine floors, bright windows, and fire place feel like an old Vermont farmhouse. The meal was excellent. For $18, you receive a generous amount of food, beginning with homemade danishes and deserts, followed by fresh fruit platters, and then your main meal. Everything was delicious and well prepared. The owners were friendly and enthusiastic. We will definitely be back for dinner, and plan to bring friends who come to town for a visit. Overall, an excellent place!

What a great place! The setting
What a great place! The setting - a rural house - was great and the ambiance just as good. Our server was smiling and enthusiastic - but not overly so. My wife and I both had different appetizers (one ground lamb, the other mussles) and main courses (pork shank and chiicken parmesan) and all were unique and "top shelf". I definitely would recommend this to friends and would not hesitate to go back again the next time we are in Stowe.

Wonderful Find in Stowe
We were in Stowe to celebrate a special anniversary and birthday. I read through restaurant reviews and made a reservation at The Bistro at Ten Acres. The reviews were all very good. We were so pleased with our entire dining experience. The owner greeted us with warmth and charm. At the time we made our reservation, I indicated this was a special occasion and we were seated at a reserved table for two overlooking acres of cows grazing - very Vermont indeed! Our food was delicious. The server was so personable - no phoniness - just charming and down-to-earth. We finished with delicious desserts - a treat! The restaurant was crowded and it was a Wednesday evening. Reservations should be made in advance. A delightful experience!

We've been to the Bistro a few times now, and the food is excellent! Linda was a wonderful hostess, ensuring we were taken care of immediately, and stepping in as needed. Our server was very friendly and capable as well.

This little Bistro on the hill at Ten Acres has really delivered in terms of great food, creative cocktails, and perfect atmosphere. For a quiet dinner, a place where conversation across the table can be heard and enjoyed, a place where the customer is appreciated before they take their first sip. Ten Acres is delivering an experience and a great menu that surpasses many of the traditional fare you would expect from high class dining experiences at well known restaurants nearby. The menu stays true to Vermont expectations and everything is cooked to perfection. I hope this little bistro has great success and we area able to visit it year after year.

We used to dine at 10 acres years ago and I am happy to report that the new owners have kept up the fine dining tradition and at reasonable prices. Our meal was great!

Doesn't Get Better than This
We ate at the Bistro at Ten Acres last Saturday night. It was fabulous. Our reservation was for 5:30. We were greeted by the owner as we walked in. Our table was ready when we arrived. My husband had the duck which he felt was cooked to perfection. It was not under cooked or over cooked. The potatoes and the watercress salad which were the perfect accompaniment to the duck. I had the Vietnamese Grilled Shrimp which were excellent. They came with two side sauces, a Hoisin and a Siracha sauce. The shrimp were so good they didn't need the sauce, but it was a nice added touch. The fresh mango salsa and pickled onions set off the spiciness of the Siracha. Perfect. Excellent staff and service. Lovely ambience.

All around good experience. Dinner menu is somewhat limited so I would recommend checking online before making a reservation. What they do, they do very well. We were a party of six and everyone was happy with the food and service.

There are many restaurants to choose from in Stowe. My husband have tried all of the good ones and this is now or favorite. We had the pork shank and the seafood are which were both delicious. The staff was lovely, helpful with local tips but not intrusive. I can't wait to go back and have a drink in their adorable bar.

A gem tucked into the hills
What a nice evening my family had with Linda and her team serving up fresh, mostly local fare. We all had wonderful meals, great home baked breads, and enjoyed the country charm. I highly recommend you try it.

Why I Love Vermont
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Bistro At Ten Acres
during our recent visit to Vermont. The staff was friendly
and welcoming, the food- especially the pork shank- was
creatively prepared and absolutely DELICIOUS. Really!
Fresh, wholesome, natural, and always beautiful to behold!
The food pretty much sums up Vermont in the summer!

A pleasant surprise
Ten Acres has been resurrected. They have a creative menu. I enjoyed my duck liver pate, and lobster. The new owners and waiters were welcoming and provided good service. It is worth a visit.

Great food nice contemporary decor
One of the best restaurants in stowe. This is not a late night place though. The place cleared out by 9 pm on a Friday night in the summer. But that may just be stowe.

Love this place!
The owners have done an outstanding job of creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. The chef is very creative, using fresh and seasonal foods. Portions are more than ample, sauces delicious with an abundance of herbs. It appears each meal is made as it is ordered. Have been there three times, and never disappointed. Appetizers themselves could almost be dinner (lamb, mussels, etc).
Pork shank is huge, lobster is the best I've ever had. The wait staff is well-trained and friendly.

Gem in Stowe
Great place, great food, great hosts.
Pineapple salad is excellent.
For a romantic dinner ask for the front table in the bay window.

Pristine pasture and calming corn
We did an online reservation w/ open table - w/out a hitch. Arrived on time. Waited bout 5mins for table. Seated. Then the hostess offered to move us to a better spot. We accepted and moved to the bay window with beautiful view of green mountains and the sunset. A pasture of cows and rows of growing corn , wait staff was unrushed and friendly. Food - my seafood special was salmon and TOP notch. GF's lobster was .... Good. After chocolate martini ..... Great! Cost - reasonable.
Very Nice dining experience. Hope to return soon.

Decent food, noisy, Poorly managed
Very popular on other web sites that aren't too discerning
Food was better than average for Stowe, but the room was VERY noisy making conversation difficult. It took forever for main course to come, and the wine list was just average fork this region. But we will try it again in case this was an off night..

City quality food in the country
Four of us had an excellent experience on a Saturday night. The setting is picture perfect - very lovely and romantic. Very well done drinks by Pete at the bar. Duck pate appetizer was very fresh and subtle. Big bowl of fresh mussels with wine sauce had no fishy taste and was cooked just right. Pork shank fell off the bone and the accompanying homemade BBQ sauce was uniquely tangy. All the portion sizes were filling without overbearing. Overall an excellent experience. The only reason I didn't put five stars is because I'm very picky and reserve them for only the very finest (in fairness to those few) --- but this restaurant came very close. Highly recommended.

The prices are a little higher
The prices are a little higher than I would have expected given how much training out server had. Felt a little too "kitchen table service" for the price demanded. Though I appreciate her honesty, our server even admired she knew nothing about the wine we ordered. Cute place, genuine and caring staff. I will definitely go back, just a little feedback.

Great food in a cozy setting
My husband and I dined here in August. The setting is beautiful, very Vermont. Our food was delicious. I had the parmasean crusted chicken. The ingredients were very fresh. I would definitely go back. The drinks are great too. There is a cool bar and sitting area. A+
8/14/2013 5:00:00 PM
Great dinner choice
While the wait staff seemed a little understaffed, they worked hard and backed each other up well. The food was excellent and they had plenty of great wine choices. Also very reasonably priced. Great dinner overall.

My family enjoyed a lovely dinner at this restaurant! The duck pate and lemon chicken were delicious and the service was terrific!

A Gem in Stowe
The Bistro at Ten Acres is less than a year old and on the site of other restaurants that didn't last. We hope this one does. The food was fresh and delicious. All six of us agreed that the food was truly superb. Visit this gem for a real treat!
8/27/2013 5:00:00 PM
Simple but great
Always nice to find a new place to dine! Try the pork shank if you are really hungry. The food is all fresh and local, service is excellent, zarah did a great job! We will absolutely be back!

A great addition to the restaurant
A great addition to the restaurant options in Stowe! Bistro at Ten Acres offers a relaxed, romantic vibe and terrific food. The nicely decorated, comfortable space and an attentive, knowledgeable staff complete a wonderful dining experience.

Off the beaten path w/ warm feeling
The mixed salad appetizer was fresh and tasty. Another salad was presented in pineapple shell. It was visually appealing, creative and my husband said it was excellent. For our main course we asked our waiter for recommendations. He said you can never go wrong with Chef Gary's "seafood epiphany". Apparently he was right. The fish was swordfish with a medley of harvest fresh vegetables. The fish was moist and delicious and the vegetables cooked to perfection. The waiter also recommended the duck. I was a little disappointed. The skin was crisp but the meat tasted a little dry. I didn't order right. I would go back to this restaurant since the menu was a little more creative then the standard fare at most places.

Great dining experience in a quaint establishment. Food was excellent as was the service. Definitely recommend.

What a find
While in Stowe for the British Invasion we thought we'd try to find a new restaurant to try. The Bistro came highly recommended. We weren't disappointed. The braised pork shank was incredible. My wife's lobster was wonderful. We highly recommend it.

Stowe's Hidden Gem
Situated a short distance from Stowe Village the Bistro is a one of those comfortable, neighborhood feeling type of restaurants where the owners, Linda and Mark, make every effort to provide an enjoyable dining experience. A very popular spot for locals and visitors alike. When friends and family visit we always include a night at the Bistro as part of the itinerary. Be sure to try the mussels!

Amazing. Great food at a great
Amazing. Great food at a great price. We were there in early July. Went back again on 21 September and our waiter remembered us! We'll be back.

A fairly new place in Stowe with a great menu (food and drink) and a lovely view. Great for vegetarians, too!
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
We happened upon Bistro at Ten Acres in Stowe Vermont while exploring the Von Trapp Family Lodge, just up the hill from the restaurant. We had a really nice time and would highly recommend this restaurant. Our server, Tara I believe, was young, energetic and well informed about the menu. My wife had the pork shank ( a local favorite we were told) and I had the orange duck. Both were incredible and substantial. The ambiance was classic Vermont. Try it and you won't be disappointed.

Friendly, great food and atmosphere
We were looking for a place to get together with another couple we hadn't seen in a long time; this was perfect. We took a walk along the local bike path (a quarter of a mile away) before dinner, then to the restaurant ; nice table, minimal noise, attentive and knowledgeable staff, excellent wine, main courses and desserts. Really well done; we were surprised to find that they haven't been open a year yet. Hope they're here for a long time to come! We'll be back.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food, but service wasn't great
We visited on a Saturday night during peak Fall season - so they were very busy - thus the service wasn't great. For example, our starters arrived before our wine, we had to get up and chase this!
While that spoiled our individual experience, the place is great, the owner was very apologetic and the food was very good.

Great experience - food & ambiance!
We were a group of six friends traveling together, and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Bistro at Ten Acres. Our hosts at the Stone Hill Inn recommended it to us. The food was delicious, the was also very good, and the atmosphere was perfect for our last night in Stowe.

We went to VT for a long weekend with another couple. We went to three excellent restaurants in the Stowe/Waterbury area, but all 4 of us voted Bistro at Ten Acres to be the best. Great presentation, and incredible flavors. I had the lemon chicken which had very complex flavors. My boyfriend had the pork which had the best flavor for pork that I have tasted. The seafood stew also was enjoyed greatly. Atmosphere is very warm and enjoyable. There are several different dining rooms, and each is painted with warm, vibrant Fall colors. Fireplace in the entry area is a nice touch. Excellent service, even though it was a busy nite. I liked that the tables are not on top of each other. We will be back next year during leaf season (if not before)!!
10/4/2013 5:00:00 PM
Everything was excellent! The Barbeque shrimps and pock was delicious! The trout too!
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very Good Place
I liked my experience in this bistro. Drinks, Food, Ambiance. I'd tasted some Martinis that I found a little expensive, the prices weren't in the menu, so I was surprised. But, all in all it was worthy.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Menu is outstanding. The pork shank is a must order for one in your group. Mussels also very memorable. Portions are enormous but that is great because the tastes need to be shared! I would highly recommend Ten Acres to anyone who really wants a great meal and atmosphere. Prices very reasonable. But go for the experience!

A hidden Gem
The Bistro is a very well run and well kept restaurant in an farmhouse just outside of Stowe. Service is laid back but attentive without being overbearing. Our server was primarily in Vermont for the snowboarding but also made a great waiter. I started with a salad that was a combination of pineapple, radishes and jicama. It does not sound all that great but was delicious. I followed with a complete lobster that was well prepared, not rubbery like a lot of lobster and was accompanied polenta. My spouse had a barbequed pork shank, which obviously came from very large hog but the meat fell off the bone. Unfortunately we did not leave room for dessert.
Well worth the trip up the mountain road from Stowe.

Wonderful Dining experience!
We had a wonderful dinner at the Bistro while staying at Smuggler's Notch. I had a delicious barbecues pork shank and my husband ate the sole; both amazing dishes! The hostess was so sweet and our waitress very accommodating.

Romantic and Delicious
We truly enjoyed the intimate and nonpretentious
ambiance at the Bistro. The food we had was delicious with
outstanding marriage of flavors. Barbecue shrimp and lemon chicken.
My husband ordered soup and the sole special and was
equally impressed. Highly recommend for a delicious
and relaxing evening.

We made a reservation after reading other reviews. The food was very good. The pork entree was particularly good. Everyone cleaned their plate. There was a lovely choice of wines. Service was just right, attentive but not overbearing.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
A friend and I dined recently at this restaurant. The food was delicious, except for one part. We ordered the seafood stew. It was filled with mussels, shrimp, scallops and some vegetables in the most amazing broth. Perfect for dipping the homemade bread into. The mussels had a funny flavor and didn't seem quite right. We didn't each them, but did devour the rest of the stew. We told our server about the mussels. The owners took our entrees off of our bill entirely. We weren't expecting that and were pleasantly surprised by the level to which they went to keep their customers happy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would go there again. It was one fluke and they responded extremely well.

Easily the best food I've ever had, and I know that's a bold statement but I work in the food industry and it really is, the best.
