We had a great meal with wonderful service. Jordan suggested a really good wine to go with our tastings.

Favorite spot in Baltimore
Food presentation and quality are outstanding!!!
Very good value for the $$. We have been there three times and can't wait to go back.
Our favourite are the mussels in the marinara sauce, but everything is very good.
The best thing are all the different appetizers, wine prices are reasonable.

A Taste Party
Best ceviche I've had in America. Pick your seafood and let the chef pair it to the recipe he thinks would be best.

Good food and service. Not much in terms of ambiance. Maybe be other nights have more to offer. We were there on a Friday nights.

First Time Visit
Really interesting food. Early reservation prior to concert so pretty empty, but filled by time we left. Server seemed new and nervous, but chef came to our table and made some recommendations since it was our first time there. Enjoyed the experience and will go back.

Food was great, service was great! Tapas portions are alot larger than most tapas places I have gone to. I would recommend this place to anybody and although I live 35 minutes away..I'd certainly come back!

Relaxed atmosphere, but the noise level made dinner table conversation a little difficult. This is a good place to dine with friends, but not a romantic night out. The food was very good and moderately priced. They also have a nice wine and beer selection. We will definitely reccommend it to our friends.

Great Dinner & Server
We had a wonderful evening at your restaurant. The food was delicious, and our server (female, maybe Stephanie) was great.

Good ceviche, good staff.
We had a great dinner at Talara, our ceviche was excellent, staff was attentive, cocktails were good. We had a reservation for 8, and the place was pretty empty when we got there. Despite the empty restaurant, our reserved table was right next to the hostess stand- would have expected a better table seeing as we had a reservation and lots of better tables were open. The place filled up as the night went on. The ceviche was excellent- we had the triple combo and all three were excellent. We also had the tofu dish which was also very good. I would recommend this restaurant for a night out with friends.

Always a great experience
It was our first time back since the redesign, and we had a great experience. New additions to the menu were excellent!

Enthusiastic servers start
Enthusiastic servers start you smiling and the smiles don't stop when the food and drinks come along. Best Caparinhas north of Brazil. Innovative uses of Baltimore Crab. Great place for a reunion including smiling wait staff just waiting to take pictures!

This was our first visit to Talara and it surely won't be our last. We had a wonderful server who explained the entire menu and made wonderful suggestions on what to order. We took her advise and ordered everything. It was absolutely wonderful. Can't wait to go back.

Great place to get a quick bite!
We decided to have dinner at Talara's before going to see a movie. The place was busy on a Friday night but we were seated timely. We order the Jimmy Sushi Roll and the Cuban Sushi roll. Both were fantastic and the fish was fresh. We ordered martinis to drink and the bartender made them dry as we requested. It was a very good experience and we will be going back. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends.

Excellent Small Plates
Our party of four ordered several items from the appetizer, sushi, and ceviche bar menus. The ceviche was the star of the show, with the sweet and spicy ahi tuna a particular favorite. I also liked the fire and ice diver scallops, but some in our group found the chili a little heavy-handed. As for sushi, the Jimmy Roll was excellent: the crabmeat was succulent and beautifully seasoned, while the tempura added a nice crunch without making the dish seem greasy.
No complaints, really. Ceviche portions were quite small, but the menu said as much -- plan to order double if splitting among more than two. If you want chips, skip the standard "tortillas and guac" and go for the more interesting avocado and crabmeat tian instead.

Talara never disappoints!
We took friends who had never been there before, and they loved it as much as we do. Food is creative, beautifully presented and delicious. The atmosphere is fun, I feel like I am on vacation when dining here. Love it!

Excellent food, great location
Talara is in a great location. And serves incredible food. I have been twice and have tried about half the tapas. Everything has been great. I only have three stars for ambiance because we were sat by the door and the glare was horrible. I couldn't look at the person across the table because it was so bright.

Friends birthday dinner
Food was very good. We ordered many things on menu and would only stay away from the Cuban Sushi. Service was friendly and helpful, maybe a little slow but it was a packed Saturday night. Will definitely go back.

Party in your mouth
Great menu with fabulous tastes and combinations. Service was good, mojitos and drinks were perfect. Introduced a friend to Talara for his birthday and he's already asking when we are going back.

We love the restaurant.
The food is always excellent. We enjoy sharing a variety of small plates . The drinks are excellent and the wine list is fitting for the price level. We come often. It's a fun place.

My boyfriend and I dined at Talara on Saturday night while in Baltimore celebrating our anniversary. Our server was Rachel, and she was wonderful - very sweet and knowledgable. We sampled several things from the menu, and while everything was excellent, we have not been able to stop raving about the jalapeño goat cheese polenta in particular and have plans to attempt a recreation at home! As a server myself, I have to also mention the service in general. I couldn't help but notice how well the waitstaff seemed to work together. We were able to interact with a few of the servers as they helped to run our food and drinks, etc., and the teamwork was definitely commendable!

Went on a Wednesday...didn't know this was a Ceviche night. At any rate, service was excellent and eager to please. Ceviche was very good...recommend fire and ice combo. Nicely spiced others. Main food...I can the orroz con pollo was hearty and had a home feel, which for this selection was appropriate. My companion had Crab Cakes, which she liked.
Would definitely recommend...I don't know if they are only ceviche in town?

This is a great spot if you are looking for something special and unique, outside the regular Inner Harbor "chain" restaurants. Uniquely decorated, a wonderful assortment of food to choose from, and service that is on par with the best we have experienced anywhere. Certainly a Baltimore winner!

An inner harbor must
Food is excellent, great portion sizes and nice for sharing with a group. Terrific wine choices with a nice comfortable atmosphere. And to top it all off, the service is off the charts!
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Service was amazing. The waiter gave us great recommendations and was very friendly. Try the ceviche--the "fire and ice" was extremely memorable. I had the Indonesian glazed duck, which was fantastic. The accompanying coconut rice was to die for. My husband went with he mussels which we greatly enjoyed. It was a great dining experience and I would go back again.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Still got it!
My husband and I have loved Talara since it opened! The food is unique and flavorful, and we always get great service. We rarely drink mixed drinks but always do at Talara. We were worried the restaurant would lose something with Nick leaving as manager, but the current management is doing a great job.

This place was a great find on OpenTable. I did not put down romantic but it could easily be a spot you go for a romantic evening. It just depends on what you two make of the night. If you are looking for a casual romantic place, then this is it. If you are looking for something more upscale and romantic then you would need to pick a different place. But the food is awesome which you generally don't get at the fancy romantic places. So this would be a top pick for me to match great food and ambience and make it a romantic evening.

The service, cocktails and food were great. The Fire and Ice Seviche was especially good!

Enjoyed the meal , had many good choices especially enjoyed the Cuban sushi roll. Service was good and the waiter could be found when needed. Main course was Shrimp and grits which was excellent, companion had skirt steak and though it came a little too rare it was remedied in a minute , tasted delicious. All around a good choice for diner.

Love this place, I first dined there three years ago and then moved out of state. I was very glad that coming back my experience was better than before.

Nora our waitress is awesome. We have had her both times we have been to Talara and will request her again. Food and drinks are creative and delicious!!!

Talara never gets old
Took our son and his girlfriend to Talara for his 32 birthday. He had never been. We did a tapas, small plates, dinner plate combo and it was all good. The muscles were fantastic as was the steak and roasted onion tapas. I especially liked the roasted beet salad. The drinks, a couple of mojitos, a pisco sour, and beer were all good. The only negative was that we started to feel like we were being rushed out. The restaurant was not full and there wasn't a line of people waiting to get in, so I'm not sure what that was about. We were there on a Saturday night. Still, I'd go back.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We're willing to drive an hour and a half simply to dine here. The food is impeccable. I'm not that big a fan of "fusion" since more often than not, the combinations aren't well executed. However, Talara has done an excellent job. The food is fresh and full of flavor. I love the ceviche bar. The seafood is very fresh. The fire and ice ceviche is my favorite. While everything I've tried thus far is good, the crispy duck with coconut rice is a must try. If nothing else, get that. The rice is sweet with the right amount of coconut taste. The duck is cooked to perfection. They have a substantial wine menu that satisfies even my wine snob partner. All in all every trip is a great dining experience.

Great Happy Hour
Love this place but was disappointed in the service at first. No one was there to great when I came in and waited for someone to acknowledge I was there. Decided to sit a the bar and once again, despite two bartenders, had to wait quite a bit to be acknowledge. Off thing, it was not busy. Once bartender (not hanging with her friend) acknowledged me, he was great and very attentive. Odd, I never had to wait in the past. Food was great and enjoyed the wines. Did not realize Tuesday was half price bottles, they need to advertise this better at the restaurant. Instead of 2 glasses, I would have bought the bottle and take the remainder back to the hotel I was staying next door. Definitely going back again, I truly like this place.

Unique, reasonable, delicious, best
This is our go to restaurant when we want interesting, unique, delicious, food in a wonderful ambiance. The service is always quick. There are lots of menu choices to keep things interesting. You can mix an match all kinds of things without feeling like you are getting screwed like you do at tapas restaurants. I always say about sushi restaurants... sushi is sushi.. But not at Talara.. Suchi is fun and very different. The cerviche is wonderful . Where else could you eat something called fire and ice where you not only are tantalized by flavor.. but by the texture and temperature of the ice crystals.
This is in a very convenient location. We always go here before the theater or when friends come in from out of town.

For the adventurous
Expensive, but worth what you shell out.. awesome cocktails, incredible ceviche. I highly recommend the Jimmy roll for sushi, and the Fire and Ice ceviche style with tuna. My only complaint was that the dining room was very short-staffed. When we did get attention, the waiter kept having to leave us mid-sentence to seat other customers since there was no host/ess. Anyways, I'll definitely be back - I haven't eaten that well in a while! PS: only for the adventurous, not the faint of heart.

This is one of our favorites. Great flavors and fantastic atmosphere. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Manager is on top of everything assuring it is always a great experience. Best ceviche!

Fusion cuisine done right
I am not normally one for fusion cuisine, but Talara won me over. The ambience is very hip and the service is good. The wait staff is well-dressed, courteous, and responsive. I started with a standard mojito (tasty, but too much ice) and the bistec tapas. I was pleased to see a healthy-sized, appetizer portion for the bistec tapas. The seared steak w/ melted cheese between pieces of tortilla-like starch was absolutely delicious. For my entrée I went with the arroz con pollo. It’s served with asparagus and pico de gallo, as well as smothered in cheese. It’s not the traditional arroz con pollo that I grew up with, but it was very delicious and the prep was spot on. Will definitely return to try seviche & sushi.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
I've been to Talara 3 times and its always great. I crave their delicious food. They offer a creative way to present seviche in a mix and match format that invites diners to create their own combinations of seafood and preparations. The tapas delight. My recent favorite is the Avocado and Crabmeat Tian. Awesome!
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Talara in the stylish Baltimore Inner Harbor-East neighborhood is a real gem. The Latin-inspired (but not of a specific country) menu presents a broad selection of seviche (7 different styles with your choice of eight raw or cooked seafood), appetizers and entrees including steak or chicken dishes, an innovative version of shrimp and grits and a unique crabcake rellano, and a small list of outstanding desserts. The hit cocktail was a blood orange margarita with top-shelf reposado tequila paired with blood orange puree -- outstanding! A limited but sufficient wine list is presented in styles rather than colors (floral, robust, etc.). Outstanding service including visits by Executive Chef Kenneth. Good value and a great time!

Had a great dinner here with my boyfriend for his birthday. Food was delicious from start to finish, tried two appetizers and two entrees and loved every bit! I will definitely be back.

Great food/service, ambience - meh
Great place for fusion cuisine. The pisco sour ($9 standard, $12 w/ premier pisco) is on par with every pisco I drank in Lima, Peru (the $12 version is, anyway). The Cuban sushi roll is very tasty and the portion size is quite good for $12, although I was hoping for the plantain to play a bigger role. The crispy duck (w/ cheesy rice) and the shrimp and grits (w/ chunks of bacon) were both absolutely outstanding. This was my second visit to Talara and the service and food were both very good both times. I will definitely be back. My only complaint - TVs everywhere make for a strange ambience; almost as if they can' decide on being a sports bar or a business casual bar.

Always a treat!
Talara never fails. Food, drinks, atmosphere and service have always been "on point" for us. We will return many times!!!
