We were ready to give up on
We were ready to give up on the concept of Portland as a dining destination. After three days and nights of trendy but mediocre food we went to Noisette with low expectations. We were pleasantly surprised first by the ambience...white table cloths, formal table settings, captains in suits and second by the high quality of the cuisine. We opted for the tasting menu and my wife's request to substitute two meat courses was accommodated without issue. Each dish was artfully composed and beautifully presented. More importantly the food was excellent and the service professional. Sadly there are few restaurants that deliver a fine dining experience like this any more.

Dinner with my parents
What a great presentation of the food. It was hard to each because the food looked so beautiful. The dinner was excellently explained and the most important thing was the food was delicious.

My wife and I had a fantastic meal at Noisette! We ordered the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Each course was perfectly presented and absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable without being stuffy. We especially enjoyed our interaction with the sommelier who served every course. He described each offering in wonderful detail and then explained his rationale for each wine pairing. The pairings were divine. I eat out a lot and our dinner at Noisette was right up there with the best I've had.

Don'sdt miss Noisette
This is a terrific restaurant. The food is a work of art; service is attentive and the wine stewart is very knowledgable. Noisette has no equal in Portland.

Noisette Dining: Where's The Beef?
We had a very unique and tasty meal in Noisette. The food is very good. We had the heirloom tomato soup and I had the tuna tartare for appetizers. The entrees were a salmon dish and a poached lobster dish. The food was delicious. However, the servings are half the size of a tapas, but twice the price. When I say that there were four bites of lobster and two bites of salmon I am not exaggerating. So for the price of the dishes, there was not a lot of value. If you go there hungry, be prepared to spend a lot of money.

We had the sampler. Each dish was very creative and beautifully presented.
The material used were seasonal and fresh. Lobster & Fois Gras were superb. Beef was tender.
I brought some friends from overseas and they were very impressed. The service was excellent. We had a very relaxing dinner. Never felt rushed. Will be back again.

Spectacular! My wife and I came to Portland for a weekend getaway from the kids, and Noisette jumped out as unique from the reviews we had seen. It met expectations in every respect. It is one of those unique places where I expect we will remember fondly the experience and the food many years down the road. We had the tasting menu - 7 or 8 courses - made for a great evening. The presentation is superb and the food remarkably delicious. The food/tasting menu is along the lines of the great restaurants you find in other cities - like Charlie Trotter's in Chicago (now closed) in terms of presentation and deliciousness level. But what also sets Noisette above them is the non-pretentious feel it has created. An evening to remember!

The food, wine and service
The food, wine and service were impeccable!
Expensive but worth it!
This summer, try the French Rose.

this is my favorite restaurant,
this is my favorite restaurant, the food and service is consistently outstanding, and absolutely delicious. Tony is an amazing chef and whenever I am visiting Portland, this is the first place I make reservations at.

Superb from start to finish
A warm greeting set the tone for a wonderful evening. The tasting menu offered a broad representation of the menu. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. Just a few: the chilled tomato soups were like silk. The lobster was so tender and yummy it drew groans of pleasure. The pasta with mushrooms was simply perfect. Everything was seasoned well except the short rib which was salty. The waitstaff and chefs (we chose to sit at the counter overlooking the kitchen) were charming. The wine list was extensive and interesting. And, not least, my wife and I could enjoy our conversation without competing with loud music or the other diners, despite the resto being fully booked. Overall our meal was delightfully memorable. Don't miss it.

Best French in PDX
This was my 4th visit to Noisette, and it just keeps on getting better. We had just dined at Le Pigeon 2 days earlier, and the difference in the experience was like the difference between professionals and amateurs. I have dined several times at Le Pigeon, Paley's, Little Bird, Cocotte, St. Jack, etc. and they all pale in comparison to this place. The harmony of creativity, inventiveness of ingredients and overall execution is the best in town. The Olive Oil "poached" Albacore was truly one of the more genius dishes I've tried in a while. It's hard to say, but this just might be the best food in the city right now. It's not cheap, but it is worth every penny and then some.

A Must Try
Noisette was simply the best food I have experienced in my 60 years. Chef Tony, his wife and daughter and the rest of his staff are wonderful. We will be talking about Noisette for a long time.
8/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food and service
Definitely not your typical Portland dining experience. Small plates let you try many different foods. Great personal attention by staff.

New favorite Portland restaurant
The food is exquisite, comparable to that we've just had at one of San Francisco's best, Quince. The serving sizes--billed as "small plates"--do look small, but are deeply satisfying. We can recommend the artichoke and cheesecake, prosciutto and melon, and lobster; not so much the mushroom pasta. The many-course tasting menu must be the best deal on the West Coast. Don't fill up on the wonderful bread, although you will be tempted to. As someone wrote, it's a restaurant for grown ups, with white tablecloths, but not the least bit stuffy--the decor is a great blend of bling and minimalism. Unfortunately, the room is so small, you can not only hear your dining partner, but those at the next table also. But so what? We went for the food.
8/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Tried the tasting course--everything was outstanding. Many traditional french ingredients and preparations but with the chef's personal touch. Waiter was very helpful especially with the wine list. For upscale dining--this is currently the best in Portland.

My husband and I have been coming here regularly since the second night they opened. The quality and flavors of the dishes are amazing, except that the food is so artistically presented its almost a shame to eat it. They look like beautiful paintings. Romantic, refined and chic atmosphere and service, which at the same time feels very warm and inviting. We've eaten just about everywhere in Portland and this place is one we always tell visitors to hit.
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
The tasting menu, although
The tasting menu, although comprised of small plates, still presents a lot of food to consume. We were stuffed by the time dessert arrived. This was too much food for us although the couple next to us seemed to consume the same offerings with no issue. Our favorites were the foie gras, lobster and wagyu beef. Wine pairings recommended by our waiter Frank were excellent.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is without a doubt one
This is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in PDX. The food is artfully presented and absolutely delicious. Conversation among the 4 of us lagged as we oohed and aahed over practically every bite. The tomato soup was redolent of the fruit, smooth perfection; the foie gras was one of the most delicious dishes ever; the lobster was perfectly cooked, tender and complemented by the vegetables and sauce; the squab and duck were memorable; the soufflés airy and sublime with the perfect sauce. The staff anticipated whether water, bread, more wine were needed. The room is spare but comfortable and modern with the thick carpet muffling other voices. Although this is my first review, it is not my first visit to Noisette. Love it!
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great experience. excellent service,! .eight course over 3 hours, 4 OUT OF EIGHT TO DIE FOR. NOT A PLACE FOR DINNIG OUTSIDE.VERY NOISEy AND UNATTRACTIVE CORNER. Not inexpensive but overall a great time.
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Dinner that Builds
The meats were like heaven, and the plant foods were architectural tasty and clever. Each course tempts the palate and builds suspense, with multiple staccato home runs. You are quite satisfied yet not stuffed to the gills. Tomatoes and potatoes mimic each other near octopus. The tuna was the most luscious meat I have ever eaten. It bordered on the divine.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
We found the 6 course tasting
We found the 6 course tasting menu to be a great adventure! The wait staff is professional, friendly, and very attentive.
The flavors were an exquisite intensity of the spices, the presentation and the variety of foods served was amazing. The pureed parsnip soup had the smoothest texture with the distinct parsnip flavor - it was rich and creamy (without cream we were told). The duck confit ice cream which accompanied the foie gras was a delightful surprise; tuna was super fresh, braised short ribs were tender and delectable. We chose the chocolate souffle for the finale, which was The entire evening was a outstanding.

Everything I dreamed of and more
I knew of Noisette a while back and had to book a reservation the next time I was in Portland. Chef Tony created an incredible dining experience. From the opening entree dish of the heirloom tomato soup to the dessert, it was a culinary feast for the senses. The plates were exquisitely beautiful to view, the aromas from each plate were a delight and the taste... speechless on how great it was!
9/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
We have been wanting to dine at Noisette for a couple of years. While pricey, it was well worth it. There were two prix fixe menus available and we chose the six course meal. Presentation was incredible. A great deal of thought went into the dishes. Service was very good. This is on my top five list of places to dine in Portland.
9/13/2013 5:00:00 PM
One of the best meals of my life.
This is one of the best meals of my life. We did the 10 course. Each one looks small, but we were stuffed by the end! Trust me, they add up! Each plate was cooked to perfection. A truly exceptional dining experience.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Astonishing tasting menu!
This was our first time at Noisette, although we'd enjoyed the chef's work at Couvron previously. We had the chef's tasting menu; though expensive, it was worth it! My friend commented that just when you thought it couldn't get any better, the next dish would come out and prove you wrong. standouts included the lobster, the artichoke cheesecake, the squab, and the short rib, but every dish was excellent. Although each dish was a small tasting portion, we ended the evening very full. The service was also first-rate: friendly, helpful and attentive. The wine steward was very helpful in selecting an excellent bottle of Bordeaux to accompany the meal.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Noisette was a welcome surprise from so many of Portland's bright and busy restaurants. Even the most "romantic" Portland restaurant's turn up the volume on noise and I find myself looking into my beloved's eyes straining to hear whatever sweet and sensitive things he is trying to say to me.
Noisette was quiet, romantic, had excellent service and the meal was splendid. For a very special dinner out, it's worth every penny.
9/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Superb food, fine service
This was our 3rd visit to Noisette over the last 1.5 yr, and it gets a bit better each time. They now offer a just 2 set menus, no al la carte, which may reduce choice but at least allows them to concentrate on a few things. Indeed, they do them very, very well. There were no disappointments among the courses, and comparing them would just be a matter of very good vs best. Service was attentive with few ragged edges. The room (half full at 8 on a Tues night) was reasonably quiet and felt comfortable, though it lacks elegance or any view. Among Portland restaurants, Noisette would probably get our vote for best in high-end food and is a great choice for special occasions. Of course, this does not come cheap...
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Some great dishes, beautifully presented in a very well designed small, neighborhood restaurant. Not yet famous in Portland, but better than many other well known places.
9/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderful dining experience
A small gem of a restaurant! We chose the 6 course menu (as opposed to the 10) and were delighted. Items that we didn't think we would care for were fantastic. They make everything and anything taste absolutely wonderful.
The service was helpful and attentive and we just couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. We'll definitely be back.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Portland has a lot of wonderful restaurants, but nothing looked great for our 47th wedding anniversary until we came upon
Noisette. We chose the 6 course tasting menu and paired it with a Flowers chardonnay. Our meal and the service were the best
we've experienced in Portland. We will be back!!

5 Star Birthday!
OMG! I can not give a more outstanding review than 5 stars. We celebrated my birthday here on a week night. Debbie, our server, greeted us warmly and let us choose a table. She then brought complimentary champagne. Our 6 course menu was fabulous. Every dish was presented as though an artist painted the dish. The trout mousse was memorable as was the beef. Dessert was a chocolate soufflé to die for! We cannot recommend this restaurant more highly as it is equal to the former Cyrus or Aqua in the Bay Area. Make it a point to visit this fine dining restaurant in Portland.

Best distinctive, creative dining
A visit must be made by those who seek creative, healthful food supported by attentive and informed service. This gem is unique in the Portland city area. You will be treated to a six or nine course tasting menu. It reflects the freshest available food products of the day, prepared to stimulate diverse tastes while adjusting to specific dietary limitations.
The evening was superior with the support of the quietly attentive wait staff whose knowledge shared before the meal set up the anticipation level for the meal, facilitated the wine selection and controlled the pace of the service for a perfect romantic evening.
10/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had probably the best dinner
We had probably the best dinner we have had in Portland and comparable to the very best we have had in the US or anywhere. The food was exquisite, presentation wonderful, the service friendly, attentive and helpful. The setting is charming. Can't belive we ahd not tried the place before, but we will be back.
10/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food, the food, the food!
Incredible to have this level of dining right in our neighborhood! We did the 10 course chef's tasting menu and loved every bit of it.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Best Food in Portland
By the far the best food in Portland! It is not the Portland hipster type of place but very intimate and romantic.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good Start - Needs Some Refining
We had a good meal on a Friday night at Noisette. They are trying to do the style of cooking you find at the French Laundry or 11 Madison Park, using local ingredients and at a lot lower prices. This is a commendable effort! We had the longer tasting menu and several courses were truly excellent, including the soup and the pasta. However, they are trying to do too much with a small kitchen, which meant that the meal stretched to 3.5 hours and the beef course arrived cold. I would suggest shortening the menu by a course or two and simplifying a few of the presentations. Service is very friendly. Wine choices are good and the prices are reasonable.

Portland elegance/NYC quality food
What a great treasure in Portland! My second time and the third is scheduled!
The tasting menu pace and diversity are wonderful, and the food preparation and presentation never fails to impress. Amazing flavor combinations. Service is attentive, informative, and friendly, but not intrusive.
I've had great food and dining experiences in NYC, France, Italy, etc., but Noisette is special because it's here at home in Portland and while not inexpensive, still more affordable than the comparable places elsewhere (think of the larger, less intimate Le Bernardin, Eleven Madison Park...).
Wow! Hopefully, a special go-to place for Portland food appreciators without getting over-run with snobby folk. :-)
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Every bite was full of culinary and artistic intricacy. Expensive but worth it.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wow. Noisette was breathtaking with its quiet elegance, utterly glorious preparations and sublime service.
We had a table of 4, and all had the 6-course meal; with each successive course we couldn't imagine how the next could be better. And yet, it was. The courses were beautifully balanced and seasoned. Celebrations of the season were plated with skilled hands by clearly one of Portland's very best kitchens.
Portland has many fabulous restaurants. In addition to its outstanding food and service, the gentle quiet of Noisette sets it apart. The lack of radiant noise was highly conducive to conversing without raising one's voice to be heard. A small thing perhaps to some, but to us, another lovely element to a glorious dinner.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
We decided to celebrate a special birthday at Noisette, expecting a memorable experience in fine dining. We were not disappointed!! Most "fine dining" in Portland is generally "dinner out before we go to a show". This was the full experience, about 4 hours of astonishing food, awesome presentation, attentive staff, and amazing conversation.
The menu consists of two prix fixe options-- the 6 course or the 10 course. There isn't an a la carte menu, or a list of apps/entrees/desserts. You eat what the chef is preparing, in the order he prepares it. A lot of people may be put off by this; the food is decadent and rich and not everyone will be able to appreciate it.
Sit back, relax, and be awed by the food experience.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Noisette is a Portland GEM of a restaurant..Tony the chef is truly an artist who paints beautiful plates with the most delicious, high quality ingredients, meticulously developed into unique , flavorful mouth watering and multilayered flavors. Noisettes price fixed menu compliments the evening with taking away any of the stress from deciding what could be too many choices, and from a price fixed standpoint this quality of food would be excessively priced in any other major city. Truly my favorite restaurant in Portland, don't hesitate make a reservation you will be amazed and enjoy a most lovely dining experience in a quiet and elegant restaurant...by the way, service is not pompous or stuffy, rather warm, welcoming and friendly!

I took my daughter for her
I took my daughter for her birthday, she was amazed and enjoyed every moment. The food was fantastic and the service was wonderful, very attentive waiter and staff.
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
Overall the experience was great -- this was a business dinner and the dining room was quiet, but not too quiet. Also, the tasting menu provided a lot of entertainment. The real star is the food; it was really, really delicious. The appearance of the dining room was a little on the spartan side side, so I wouldn't suggest taking a date there unless they are a super-foodie.
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
Fabulous food and superb service
Eating at Noisette is a wonderful experience. Every item on the menu was superb It is not a place for the steak and fries crowd, but those who enjoy tasting menus with outstanding food elegantly presented will really enjoy the evening. It's a choice of two prix fixe options.
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
second time; just as good
We've been here 2x this year, and each time have had a delightful experience. The food has been great, but I would only go for the 6 course meal. 10 courses seems like way too much. There are two small nits with this restaurant in our mind - one is the size is so small that the smallest issue, plate dropping, etc makes the whole restaurant pause (this has happened a few times on both times we went), and the second is they serve wine from a beaker. It feels very antiseptic and strange. Overall though - very nice dinner, and fabulous food.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
I love this restaurant because it has only two menu choices: the chef's (big deal) tasting menu, and the regular (just folks) tasting menu. There are entirely too many choices to be made everyday in today's world. (Think commercial brand cereals.) Here one simply decides between the two choices - which are actually quite similar (except that the Chef's menu is a little longer) and then one is free to enjoy one's company. Choosing the wine(s) is more challenging but the server is well informed and can make that just as quick and simple. What a relief to be excused from all our tiresome abundance of choices.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
We have been to Noisette 6 or 7 times and each time it has been an amazing experience: OUTSTANDING food, terrific service, well paced meal and overall just super enjoyable. Family run that is actively involved from the moment you walk in to the minute you leave. Not to be missed.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
THE BEST, anywhere.
Thanks to business travel, I've eaten in a lot of famous restaurants in Manhattan, Chicago, DC, and LA, and Noisette is easily on par with any of them. We are spoiled in Portland, with truly delicious food available everywhere from food carts to hole-in-the-wall burger joints to casual and fine dining. In that sea of great options, Noisette stands out head and shoulders above the rest. The food is edible art, as beautiful as it is delicious ... and it is INCREDIBLY delicious. The price is high for Portland but it fairly reflects the quality, skill and artistry of the meal. The chef's tasting menu is worth saving up to experience. It will be a night and a meal to remember for a long, long time!

Couldn't have been better
I'd been looking forward to eating at Noisette since hearing of the return of Chef Demes return to Portland. I was not disappointed. The tasting menu was an over the top indulgence. Every course was beautiful and delicious. The service was perfect. From wine recommendations to attentive service to clear/set up for following courses. This was one of my top meals of all time.
