Pairs with Shakespeare!
We think Peerless provides the perfect finale dinner for our annual week in Ashland for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. We always ask for the table on the small patio surrounded by grass. We can discuss the plays and plan our long drive home. The food leaves us exclaiming about how good it is, and anticipating our return next year. The garden is lovely!

OUT OF TOWN GUESTS SAY YOUR SPECIAL
We were a party of six. Several of us were celebrating our birthdays. Most were from the Bay Area and LA.
My meal was comped because it had to go back three times, but I was the hostess so no biggy. My guest meals and drinks were a ten! . And the waiter was excellent. He put up with my family.
Thanks for being there.

The food is truly peerless
Our family of six, including 2 teen foodies, shared a variety of starters, small plates, entrees and desserts and very much enjoyed all. Each preparation had an assertive or complex taste and was beautifully presented. The noise level could have been ranked "quiet" but our family was so vocal in appreciating each dish that we increased the decibels. The service was spotty at the beginning (7PM) but by 7:30PM when the pre-theater crowd started to leave it greatly improved.

As before, our experience
As before, our experience at the Peerless Restaurant last Saturday night was wonderful. We enjoyed every dish we ordered and our service couldn't have been better. We will return.

One of our Ashland Favorites
This is our favorite "nicer" restaurant we visit every time we are in Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival. Food is always delicious. All of us had some sort of salad, small plate and dessert which was the perfect amount. The duck breast and the duck confit were cooked perfectly and were scrumptious; the lamb was also cooked perfectly. The accompanying sauces complimented nicely. The cocktails were also very good. The chocolate cake and carrot cakes were outstanding.

Special dinner with good friends.
We all liked the garden outdoor area. Had a lovely setting by a fountain. Our meal began with individual glasses of wine. I would have appreciated a choice of bottles made more affordable than ordering by the glass.
We ordered a ahi taco special for our appetizer. Some liked them. I thought they were scimpy. The beet salad, as well as the duck were outstanding. I had the spinach salad with ahi tuna. Again, the salad seamed a bit on the small side, with mostly spinach, very little walnuts and cheese. The ahi was good.
Our waiter was professional, allowed us ample time to enjoy our food, but was not personable. I felt he wasn't excited about his job. Maybe because he has been a waiter for a long time?

Best restaurant in Ashland
Food and service never disappoint. Truly outstanding.

Great pre-theatre menus. They
Great pre-theatre menus. They offer small plates where the protein is pretty much the same size as the entree with a smaller vegetable portion. Perfect if you want to still have 2-3 courses before a performance.

We're thrilled to have discovered the restaurant and were so delighted with the food, cocktail list and environment. We'll return as often as we are in Ashland.

This was our first time dining at Peerless Restaurant, and I was not disappointed. I loved the small plate selections; that entree and a dinner salad (I selected the roasted beet salad) was ample food. The service was excellent, not hovering but aware of our presence. Next time that we are in Ashland, we will dine there again.

Unique dining experience
Menu variety is outstanding. Can choose between small meals and large ones. Ambiance is special: located in historic old town in a beautiful garden setting adjoining the old hotel of the same name. Wine menu is extensive. Service is outstanding -- makes one feel special.

We were a group of four couples that were going to a play later. We were seated promptly at 6pm, served quickly and were billed by couple with no mandatory service charge. Were completed by 7pm. The menu features small plates but the portions are ample sized. They also had a small plate sampler that was great. Everyone in our group had a great meal.
7/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
We make a point of dining at The Peerless Restaurant each time we visit Ashland. The food is delicious, and we like being able to choose between full entrees and a wonderful selection of small plates. The staff make the experience a pleasure!

A wonderful evening!
Excellent all around. The cocktail, bear and wine list has something for everyone. I really enjoyed the small plates which allowed me and my friend to try several delicious flavors. The lamb meatballs are a true delight. The service was gracious and professional through and through, from the front of the house, to our bus boy, to our waiter. We spent over three hours drinking and eating outside in the beautiful and spacious garden. We never felt rushed or ignored. We will be back again and again!

We're locals and take our special out-of-town guests here - recently wine/food savvy relatives from Napa Valley. They raved about the serious wine list, interesting small plate menu, and knowledgeable staff. First-class restaurant!

Dinner in Ashland
Although we had hoped to dine in the lovely outdoor eating area, it was too hot to eat outside. But we enjoyed well prepared meals choosing small plates for interesting variety. One diner was disappointed in the "sampler" plate which was uninspired and not especially good. Scallops, rack of lamb, and spinach salads were excellent.

Memorable evening in Ashland
Peerless was a great dinner spot for myself, two sisters, and my niece. The garden setting was beautiful and conducive to qvuiet conversation. The wait staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful in their recommendations. We shared our individual entrees and had it was difficult to identify a favorite as each dish was uniquely delicious. Thank you for a most enjoyable evening at Peerless.

Great Anniversary Dinner
We came to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We chose the Peerless for our anniversary dinner because it was recommended by our B&B hostess; also, it was highly rated online.
We started off by sharing a small plate of Roasted Garnet Yams then both seleted the salmon dinner for our entree. For dessert, we had the creme brulee, compliments of the house.
Everything was delicious. The salmon and vegetables were cooked just right and the dessert was to die for. I had the house wine and was very happy with it.
Our waitress, Megan, was courteous, friendly, and efficient. The restaurant was busy, with an ambiance of "happy chatter".
We will definitely return next time we are in Ashland.

Service was Outstanding. Dining adjacent to the outdoor fountain was lovely. Food for a pair of vegetarians and a pair of omnivores was delicious.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
The ambience was just right for a needed evening of refreshment. The small plates did not sound that interesting so we choose entries (rack of lamb and duck), which had interesting fruit sauces that well complemented the meats. In defense of the vegy side, which another diner didn't like—we thought they were great! There was an abundant plate with a variety of in-season vegetables that were perfectly cooked. Personally, I don't think fresh vegetables should have much preparation. The wine list is pricey but there are reasonably-priced options.

Great place to take guests.
I consider Peerless one of a short list of top Ashland restaurants. Enjoy the unique location. Food is excellent and the service has always been outstanding.

The "Gem" of Ashland
Outstanding in EVERY respect. Food was delicious, beautifully served and their "small portion" menu is superb! Next time I am in Ashland, another visit to Peerless will be a top priority.

always a special dinner
We have eaten at The Peerless many times when we are in Ashland for theatre. Food is always wonderful with many interesting combinations and unusual ingredients. Service is always attentive

We have been attending the Shakespeare Festival for the past seven years and always stay at the Peerless Hotel. During each visit we make a point to eat at the Peerless Restaurant at least once. It never disappoints and remains one of Ashland's best dining establishments.

Very Special Dinner
My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Peerless. We made our reservation online at OpenTable, which was easy. Peerless greeted us when we arrived and stated that our table was ready and our waiter had the info on my food allergies. Unlike every single wait person at every restaurant we've ever been to, our Peerless waiter knew every ingredient in each dish. He made recommendations and suggested alternatives. So savvy and easy-going -- exceptional. My husband and I shared five of the small plates, all exquisite: rack of lamb, garlic prawns, filet mignon, vegetable melange, Peerless salad... all so tender and fresh. We brought our own bottle of wine, and after dinner, ordered the grapefruit sorbet and carrot cake. Superb!

Buddha Would Eat Here
The food and ambience is so zen at Dragonfly you would swear Buddah himself was sitting at the next table!
Proper combinations of ingredients and spicing makes eating a delight; and presentation makes you hesitate only slightly to give thanks, before
you devour the entire dish.
Get thyself here!

Great Ashland Stop
This restaurant is a favorite of ours when we visit Ashland....and even when travelling I-5 for another reason, we'll make this a dinner stop. Consistently fine food and service, features local foods, and if you are fortunate enough to be there in summer, the garden dining is the best.

Best server I've ever encountered
Live th restaurant. But even more so, love the gentleman who served us. Funny, knowledgable, smart, seemed to size us up and know exactly what we'd wand. Suggested the best Syrah I've had in a while. Copperhead. Order it. Pleasurable dining experience. I've stars from this picky reviewer!

An excellent restaurant to
An excellent restaurant to take special guests, a romantic interest, or adult family members for a special dinner.
Menu is varied - with small plates, entrees, and a great wine list. Service restrained (a good thing), respectful and efficient.
None of the guests were known as "You Guys." Classy place.

Great for the "girls"
We were there to celebrate a birthday and the food and ambience was excellent. The server was on top of everything and split our check (something single women appreciate). She deserves praise.

Great place to share small plates for a meal with varied experiences. Service is always attentive without being overbearing.

This is a great spot for a romantic meal with a loved one or a special night out with good friends. Great food, atmosphere and attentive knowledgeable waitstaff.

This was our second visit to Peerless. Ashland has lots of options, but Peerless is great when you want something a little special. Extensive wine list with a variety of price points. Servers are attentive. The first question is whether or not you are going to a play, and they pace your meal accordingly. We'll go back again on our next visit to Ashland.

Comfort and joy
Good service, not intrusive, but attentive. Noticed we didn't eat our deserts and asked about it. Deducted from bill. Nicely done.

One of Ashland's top 5
After a revamp, Peerless is now more informal and still offers high quality food in tapas size portions and at reasonable prices.
A few full-size dishes are always on the menu with a seasonal twist. The preparation and presentation are always top notch.
The smaller dining rooms make for a cozy and intimate atmosphere. The wine list is impressive but not overwhelming.
Many Rogue and Applegate wines are featured. Service is all you can wish for: friendly, efficient and quick.
What a gem!
