Yummy modern Thai!
Great food and modern take on classic Thai flavors. Good for sharing though portions could be a tad friendlier. Fun cocktails. Servers know their stuff. Bartender was a little scattered but made a tasty drink eventually so it worked out. Small place but will grow with seasonal access to outdoor space. I'd go back in a second for the beef and broccoli, salt and pepper shrimp, lamb dumplings, coconut flan. Delicious!

Very good fast service. Small
Very good fast service. Small but unique menu with good
specials. Delicious food at good prices. Everything fresh
and delicious. Very small though so it gets crowded. Tight squeeze
at the bar.

Very good food. A bit expensive
Very good food. A bit expensive for the ambiance (there is none, either good or bad) but the food is innovative and tasty. Shared numerous dishes with 3 friends and all were good. Do not miss the drunken noodles.

Their specials were incredible!
Their specials were incredible! My friend and I tried the lamb dumplings and kung pao chicken. Their traditional plates were also excellent. We tried the spicy drunken noodles and loved them! The service was super friendly, with great food and wine suggestions. Would definitely go again!

Great Asian near the Highline
Casual and cozy neighbourhood Asian fusion restaurant near the Highline. We sat outside in the back on a nice evening in May.
We started with crispy Salt and Pepper shrimp, followed by lamb dumplings and pork belly buns. We them launched into spare ribs, drunken shrimp noodles, kung pao chicken, deep fried fish with sweet and sour sauce, fried rice with salmon and grilled eggplant. All of the dishes were tasty and well-prepared. Wines are about $40 a bottle.
Service is attentive. We told the waitress we were not in a rush and she made sure that the dishes were spaced out properly.

Chop - Shop Experience
Walking into the restaurant I had already had a gratuitous smile upon my face for the scenery me and my date had been welcomed to. Food choices were state-of-the-art fancy in our opinion and not very pricey either. Appetizers were a delight (pork dumplings are a must!), main dinner course was suitable to a great degree and drinks approved a new twist to dining. Service was on point, no long term wait to be served and waiters were highly generous and friendly. It proved well for a excellent anniversary date. I'd not only recommend this place to a friend but I'd also see myself returning to this restaurant in the future.

Owners of Bottino, next door, opened this place and it is a hit!
Well run, great menu and cozy feeling make it a place I come back to again and again
The thai fried rice with chinese sausage is the best!
Chris, the manager, is very sweet too.

My friiend and I had between us 1vodka gimlet, 2 glasses of prosceco, 2 orders of lamb dumplings, bok choy, salmon, eggplant, and two desserts. Only $109 before tip! Lamb dumplings fantastic.

Wow! What a treat, menu so impressive it is difficult to decide and each dish was remarkable and memorable. Will be back....many, many times. Fresh, healthy, original and obvious care and passion in preparation of each dish. This is what dining is all about.

Well Worth the Price
The menu was quite unique with dishes not often found at an Asian restaurant. The food was outstanding, the wait staff friendly and service was excellent. All in, a very good value.

Cozy friendly cute restaurant !!!!
It was our first time here and it wont be the last definitely. My friend and I had the summer roll and Chop salad. So fresh, tasty, and crispy. And then we shared the poached salmon and the fried bass filet. Both fish just melted in our mouth. Fresh.Delicious.
And to end the evening, we tried their desserts....limited selection but the coconut creme caramel was amazing. The blueberry gelato was good, too. Refreshing. Our cute little waitress was so good and attentive to us. We enjoyed Chop Shop alot.

Neighborhood Asian Gem
This is a tasty little neighborhood gem. The food is fresh and the service is quick and friendly. The food was good -some of the dishes were better than others. The thai fried sea bass special had nice spices and layered flavor. The watercress salad was light & refreshing. The drunken noodles were outstanding wth a with delightful sauce. The vegetable dumplings were standard. The sea bass lettuce cups were nice and light but could have used more flavor. The salt & pepper shrimp was fried with salt & pepper - too dry for my taste and could have used a dipping sauce to provide some moisture. The Salmon entree & the ribs were a hit. The Jade Lemonade cocktails were very refreshing! Has a ovely garden but the overall place is small so plan.

An upscale hole in the wall. Fabulous pan-Asian food, very creative and delicious. Lamb dumplings in chili sauce were superb. Friendly staff. No attitude. We'll be back.

The Kung Pao chicken was terrific
The Kung Pao chicken was terrific - not fried and deliciously seasoned. Great place to have dinner before Sleep No More!

High Quality, Fresh Asian Food
We went here on a Saturday and sat outside on a beautiful summer evening. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the dishes that were supposed to be spicy were appropriately spicy. Dumplings do not get a lot of attention, but these were clearly made of fine ingredients, and served freshly from the pan. My friends who drink enjoyed martinis at the bar. This is an excellent, moderately priced Asian restaurant that makes you wish you lived close enough to take delivery regularly.

Yum yum yum!
I loved it! It was a great combination of Chinese & Thai food and everything we ate was delicious. We sat in the outdoor garden which was small but cozy. All the food was very fresh and had lots of flavor.

Truly a neighborhood gem
Excellent, creative menu, friendly service, and overall a very cool addition to Chelsea's limited restaurant scene. We look forward to going back many more times in the future!

Upscale Southeast Asian-Chinese
Excellent, creative, intimate Southeast Asian-Chinese cuisine. Creative dishes. Recommend Baby Boc Choy, Spicy Drunken Noodle, Chop Shop Beef with Broccoli. Food is good, but servings are small. Two appetizers and two mains not enough for two. Ended up pretty costly for a very good Chinese dinner out.

The magic continues at this
The magic continues at this Tenth Avenue gem right off the Highline and Gallery row. Terrific Asian fusion cuisine that plays on all of your senses is served by very attentive waiters. The restaurant is tight on space and can get crowded so this is not a place to have a quiet romantic date on a Friday or Saturday. A great place to come with friends and share dishes.

Poached salmon was delicious.
Poached salmon was delicious. Definitely try to margarita. It has a nice kick!

Just awesome every time!
My husband and I live literally around the corner from Chop Shop and we go I would say at least once a month, if not more often. My parents were in town, they are not adventurous eaters and not huge fans of Asian food. We somehow convinced them Chop Shop was a good idea, and they were happy we did. We got several of the specials that evening including the Spicy Chicken wings which were amazing. I can honestly say that at this point, it is hard for me and my husband to decide what to get because everything we end up eating becomes a favorite that we can't visit Chop Shop the next time without ordering. We can't eat the whole menu! Can not recommend enough!
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
This place was amazing and you would never believe it looking at the front of it! The food was beyond delicious and the service was phenomenal - I definitely didn't leave enough tip so I have to go back just to give them more!!! It was birthday and they brought out a dessert and sang for me for free!! I absolutely recommend Chop Shop and can't stop thinking about it!
10/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our second visit with a group and it did not disappoint. It was plenty spacious for 6 and yet the whole place feels intimate. Food is excellent and service is gracious. Try the japanese eggplant, it's unassuming but out of this world!

Great addition to the neighborhood
Chop Shop is a great addition to the restaurant scene on 10th avenue. Simple good comfort food that you keep wanting to come back for. There's a small outdoor space that's great in the spring and summer. I recommend ordering family style. Their fried rice is my favorite. Seriously, I don't know what they put in it, but I'm hooked. Other favorites include the Chicken Penang Curry, the Pork Belly buns and the Tom Yum Soup.

as always, food great. service
as always, food great. service leaves something to be desired, and it's always the same server. if the idea is to be quietly arrogant and somewhat dismissive, then he's succeeding. still, the food keeps us coming back each time. just hoping some turnover in the staff brings an influx of personality to the service.
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
Good over all!
Great service, fresh atmosphere, good menu, and moderately priced!

Found Chop Shop via the OpenTable search. Read the reviews and figured we'd try it. We really enjoyed the food here. And the special drinks were outstanding! I had a chili-infused margarita (twice) and it was excellent. The Thai food was really good. Portions are small; this is meant for ordering a lot of plates and sharing. I'd go back in an instant!

Great cocktails and Asian fusion
We found this place on Open Table while on holiday in New York. The food was excellent and the cocktails were strong! We had several different servers - three were friendly and helpful but one of the Asian waiters took sassy to the extreme. In the two interactions with us he managed just to not say a single word and just scowled at us! Was at odds with the rest of the staff who were all lovely and really unexpected because service is usually at such a high standard in the US thanks to the tipping culture.

Nice neighborhood find. Very small restaurant with heated and covered outside space. You must try the pork buns and fried rice. I've had both elsewhere but never like this... Enjoy,
11/16/2013 4:00:00 PM
Spicy sesame noodles are pretty spicy over time! That's good; we wanted some flavor. Cucumbers are a good complement. Crab cake special with vegetables were tasty although not surprising; the vegetables with them were cool and flavorful. Drunken noodles were fine; kind of average (although the shrimp in it was nice and tender). Portion on this dish could have been a bit larger.
Coconut creme caramel was rich and delicious -- not surprising but perfectly done.
Service genuine, friendly, attentive.
I had a little bit of sticker shock when I got the check; it wasn't so much but it seemed a little out of proportion for the modest mea we had. Some items could use more interesting flavoring or elements.

Healthy Chinese Food
Chop Shop serves much healthier versions of Chinese dishes than joints in Chinatown.
