Great service, very knowledgeable
Great service, very knowledgeable waiter. Food was excellent, the mussel appetizer was yummy, tenderloin mini-filets were also very tasty. Definitely would recommend and will return again!

Overall, good food. Nice space. Had a good working lunch.

You can always count on J Coco's for great food and atmosphere.

Each course was expertly prepared, well presented and delicious! We will return often.

Great food, great atmosphere
This restaurant has really amazing food. It features a small, but varied menu, which I really like. The wine list is great, and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. If the weather is nice, the patio is quite lovely. There's a comic/coffee shop attached next door that I would highly recommend as well! Great for an after or pre-diner activity.

Nice Atmosphere and great food
I enjoyed the ambience at J.CoCo. Made me think of the old Wohlner's store that use to be there. Especially seeing the murals on the walls. My thanks for the owners for keeping the memories alive. It is a nice way of showing respect for the building's history. As for the food, My Yellowfin Tuna salad was wonderful. The tuna was cooked perfectly. Could have lightened up a little on the dressing. My salad got soggy towards the bottom of the bowl. The group I was with liked everything they ordered and ate. We had two kids with us and they both enjoyed the breaded chicken tenders. Our server was very knowledgable of the specials and food on the menu. She was also very attentive to our needs. I would recommend this place to all my loved ones.

Wish there were more vegetarian options, but the food is outstanding.
8/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Superb, as always.
I really do love this place! My husband and I eat here a lot and, as a vegetarian, I really appreciate the chef making up delicious options for non-meat eaters. I've had some of the best veggie dishes EVER here, and this most recent visit was no exception. My entree was actually three very generous sized portions comprised of a mixed bean tabbouleh, soba noodles with tofu, and the most ridiculously good roasted vegetable crisp. After all of that, I could barely finish my carrot cake! :) It's such a welcome change to find a restaurants whose veggie option isn't a salad -- with the chicken picked out. And thanks also to Noah - and all the staff for that matter - who always takes such good care us.

Good was great. The duck was the best I've ever had ! A very pleasant surprise in Omaha.

Don't overlook this place
1st time dining @ J. Coco. It's on my top 6 in this city of fine dining. I'm a big proponent of supporting locally owned places and this one's worth the support.

San Francisco experience in Omaha
One of the best food experiences my partner and
I have experienced in the 6 years we have been in
Omaha! Gifted Culinary training shows up everywhere. My partner is
a California Culinary Academy trained chef and I am a Bay area raised
Italian and J.Coco's was like being home for us.

Excellent, as always
This neighborhood gem is in our regular rotation. In our humble opinion, the big 3 in Omaha are Boiler Room, the Plume, and V Mertz. This is one of a handful of spots that are at the 4 to 4 and 1/2 star level, along with places like Lot 2, Dario's and the like. This is high quality food, very professionally served, with occasional whiffs of greatness (the spicy gazpacho we both tried on our most recent visit, with blueberries and rasberries mixed in, was one such dish). J Coco also has the benefit of one of the lovieler settings in town. You will be very happy dining here.

J Coco Restaurant week
Amazing prix fixe...we tried the salmon and teres major medallions. Both were creatively prepared and delicious. The first course beet salad had some unique additions which complimented each other well. The soup was full of flavor and had a nice balance of chicken and veggies. Desserts were awesome! Service was great! A nice patio to the east would be good for a summer evening or lunch.

I am a business traveler and look for neighborhood spots to eat, rather than chain restaurants. This was a perfect choice for a decadent meal. I ate the scallop appetizer and the crispy pork belly appetizer with a side of the creamy brussel sprouts. I was wowed with the scallops...cooked better than perfect with a sprinkle of granule salt that brought out that fresh sea flavor. The truffle oil and creamy grits complimented everything. The crispy pork needed nothing, cooked to perfection with the named crispy edges and soft interior. The mushroom topping was delicious. I had to stop myself from scarfing down the entire portion of the brussel sprouts. They've never tasted so good. Spot on service as well!

Came for the first time during restaurant week, food was AMAZING but out server was seemed less than excited to be making an easy 20% off of a fixed menu. I've worked in the service industry for over ten years and I get we all have "bad" nights but JCoco was packed so I suggest she suck it up and fake it.

Perfect flavor with presentation
I have been to this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. The menu items are unique and tempting. At night try the duck.

Great for a night out
I have to commend J CoCo staff and chefs for the extraordinary experience. They were attentive to details, friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great drink selection and good selections of wine. The food was prompt and the added experience of Jennifer coming to the table to assist in serving guests gives the added touch that you are welcome in "her home".

Fabulous food and even a kids menu
There were so many tasty looking selections on the menu, it was hard to decide what to order. We settled on the flatiron and beef medallions. Fabulous preparation and presentation. Nice to find a restaurant that caters to foodies but also offers a kids menu so we could enjoy a family night. Noise level was a little high for conversation but decor is beautiful. Would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again.

Charming little restaurant in an older section close to mid town. Friendly welcome, and quick service. Took advantage of Restaurant week menu, and was exceptionally pleased with the food and the reasonable prices. Ambiance was what I like with low lighting, nice mix of contemporary and old world setting. A great variety of types of dining from full meals to soups, salads and sandwiches. The 2 desserts we enjoyed were every bit if not better than the gourmet restaurants in Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Durham, NC. A fun wonderful, relaxing and evening.

First visit...of hundreds more!
We'd heard tons of great reviews about J. Coco and were finally able to make it down there for our 1 year anniversary dinner (with a 2 week baby in tow). We are kicking ourselves for not having gone there sooner, although we'll be back in the coming weeks to try more of their great menu items! My wife had the Chilean sea bass special which melted in her mouth. While the $4 salad add on wasn't worth it, that was the ONLY thing we'd change on the next visit on her side. I had the stuffed pork chops which were really good, although the highlight for me (pathetically enough) was the insane corn on the cob...I'd pay for that recipe!

J. Coco - Omaha, NE
I chose J. Coco for my anniversary. There were two sections of the restaurant, the front section which was more lively and a smaller room in the back which was more intimate with only 4 tables. The back area was right by the kitchen, but we did not find this bothersome or loud, it was actually very nice. We started our meal with the Scallops, which came in a sweat corn pudding and the scallops were excellent. Perfectly cooked and definitely fresh. I ordered the lamb and she ordered the petite medallions. I also ordered a Caesar salad. The salad and the lamb were perfect. My wife also enjoyed the medallions. We finished our meal with a pumpkin creme brulee. Service was excellent and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Inventive Lunch and Dinner Menu
Great food at a "good" price for the value. I'd recommend almost anything on the menu.

First time dinning here
My wife and I finally got around to try this place. The food was fantastic! We tried quite a few items and enjoyed them all also very pleased with the value ( I was expecting a larger bill for everything we ordered)
We will be back!

The hidden gem
If you love neighborhood bars, then J Coco is right up your alley!!! Jenny's amazing and taste bud delightful dishes are not only aromatic but greatly appeasing to the eye. Please do not stop there!!!! As your mouth waters while your senses are going haywire, you sink your teeth into the most delectable and refreshing meal you have ever had!!!!! You walk out not only very satisfied, but with a giddy-up in your step from just having consumed one of the best meals of your life!!!

Always a pleasure
It's always a pleasure to eat at J. Coco! I've never been disappointed with a meal, or a beverage from the bar. Try a North and South!

A wonderful dining experience with specialty foods to choose. If you want a typical ordinary dining experience you will not find that here.

First Visit, We'll Be Back!
My family and I were in Omaha to see Book of Mormon. Looked on Trip Advisor to determine where to eat our first night. Stumbled across J. Coco's. LOVED IT!!! The food and service were excellent, and the prices were reasonable for such a high end restaurant. The only negative was it was so loud we could hardly hear each other across the table. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic spot, go with Grey Plume instead (equally excellent). We enjoyed J. Coco very much and will definitely return on our next visit to Omaha!!
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Service was prompt and friendly. The seating a bit tight. Parking is difficult until you stumble on their lot across the street and a block to the east on Leavenworth, no signs direct you there.
The appetizers: Scallops - to die for. Crispy Pork Belly was anything but crispy, more like warm fat, but the grits that accompanied it were marvelous.
The Petite Fillet Medallions and Iowa Lamb drew rave reviews. The White Fish of the Day - Grouper was uninspired. The wine list is adequate and competitively priced with other similar restaurants. Desserts were ordered and well liked by the group, but I am not a dessert person so I don't have any specific feedback.
Another restaurant in the Dundee area that are comparable would be Dario's.
10/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food presentaion was excellent. Everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked wonderful. Come from Japanese family. In Japan presentation is everything. If it's not presented well, it won't taste good. All the senses need to be met. J Coco did just that.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
They have it all...
Our first time at this gem. They have it all. The food was beyond our expectations. Starting with the Hostess and Bartender, they were most pleasant. Natasha, our server was on-top-of-it with a sense of humor to handle us. She didn't miss a beat. The lighting and music was perfect. The manager, Scott T. was more than gracious and accommodating. We will be back more than once.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Menu changes with the seasons. Love the way they combine flavors and textures for each entree - from black thai rice to quinoa, fennel, pistachios and pomegranates. Very thoughtful and inventive presentations.

We came to JCoco's for our 25th anniversary dinner. The food was very nice, though pricey, but we expected and planned for that since it was a special occasion. Our waiter did a good job, but could have been more friendly. We enjoyed the food and would recommend it for special occasions. We were frequent shoppers at the old Wohlners, so we were happy to see the old place fixed up and made into a neat little neighborhood food spot.

One of the best places I have eaten in a long time. From the excellent tasting food, great drinks, and friendly staff whose service was great I would recommend this place to all of my friends.
11/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
A co-worked told me about J Coco and I am so glad he did. My wife and I went there on Saturday night and absolutely loved it. The food was amazing, wine was great, and service was exceptional. We are high maintenance when it comes to eating, but our waitress catered to our every need. We specifically needed Gluten Free, and she modified the menu for us to show us the options we had. We even had dessert because she specifically pointed out only the GF options for us. I would totally go back again and hope that we get the same waitress!!

Great Omaha Find!
JCoCo is a great find for dining in Omaha. We have so many restaurants to pick from here, but this one is inventive with their menu, uses high quality items, has a beautiful interior and good servers. Be sure to make a reservation....it's popular enough that you'll need it!
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
My Husband & I are new to Omaha and like to try a different restaurant every Friday night. This week we tried J.Coco on a recommendation from a friend. We made a reservation since the restaurant is rather small & we wanted to make sure we didn't have to wait for a table. Our food was good, but found the menu to be a bit limited for the less adventurous diner. I had the Sea Bass and it was excellent-just the right amount of tang & spice to the Asian slaw! My husband tried the Prime Rib sandwich and said it was also very good & flavorful. Only complaint was that it needed more Au Jus. The space is small & became very noisy as the night wore on. Parking is also limited.

Never Disappoints...once again an amazing meal!! Hands down our favorite date night restaurant!

I come to JCoco with my kids or adult friends several times a month- the staff is great and I always feel so welcome. It's not the very best menu in all of Omaha but the food is very tasty and original. They are super family friendly but it's definitely a great place for adults as well.
We come back mostly because we always eat very well and the staff are amazing.

I took three friends for lunch and could not have been more pleased. Fabulous food...great service...friendly atmosphere. Top notch in every way!

Saturday Night Out
Prior to attending a concert, my wife and I dined at J Coco for the first time and were very pleased with the experience. The interior was very nice without being overdone. The appetizer was a cheese selection with interesting sides that really complimented the selections well. Our entrees were chicken and sea bass, both of which tasted wonderful. We had desserts as well that were also very tasty! We were extremely pleased with the experience and I have already recommended it to co-workers.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
We took our adult children for a special occasion dinner. Everything was outstanding. The duck was probably the best, but we all sampled each other's and nothing disappointed. The dates and olives to start is a different tasty treat. We've been several times, all excellent, and J Cocos us our new favorite spot.
11/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had a group of 9. Jenny and her staff are the best. It's a nice place, but the Wagu burger is amazing. Sea bass is wonderful. This is our favorite Omaha joint. We even saw Warren Buffet there. Trust me, this place is the real deal.
11/28/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great for couples
Our kids had given us a gift card so we had so much enjoyed it that we took our dear friends with us on this occasion. They loved it. We definitely will go back. When my family is here from NC, I inquired about the back room very nice and quiet for grandchildren and great grandparents.
Our friends loved the food and atmosphere. Great place...THANK YOU!!

Definite Gem for Foodies
Every plate was superb: from the Butternut Squash Soup, to the Tuna, Pork Belly and Scallop appetizers, the Duck, Chicken, Sea Bass and Lamb entrees and finally the Creme Brûlée dessert. Much better food than grey plume, equivalent to V Mertz; certainly a top pick for Omaha food lovers! Service was exceptional, worth a 25% gratuity. Only nitpick is lack of parking as we were about 2 blocks away on a fairly cold nite. We will definitely make multiple returns.
12/2/2013 4:00:00 PM
One of our first dates, and I promised to take her there for her birthday. A first time at this restaurant for us both, and hope to visit again soon. Great atmosphere, service, and delicious and interesting food, all on a Friday night!!

Nice date night with my wife
Have been meaning to get to j. coco ever since the opening as we were great fans of her menus at her last place of employment. happy to see that the ingenuity and quality of the food has continued and perhaps gained a bit more scope as the menu is small but diverse. Small but punchy wine list and enjoyed a great cab with the teres major medallions and the stuffed pork chop. Great app in the tuna as well. Bravo!! We will be back

Lovely old Omaha neighborhood
Lovely old Omaha neighborhood setting. Casual dining on smallish patio, interior well-appointed. Excellent menu, superbly prepared. Noise level on our Saturday evening did not impair our table conversation. Great find for midwest region.
