One of the better steakhouses in town. A classy, romantic place with very good food and service. The bone in filet and bone in NY steaks were make to perfection. The salads were OK but the zucchini string fries were great. The bar area was also a good before dinner spot or just to hang for cocktails. The $10 valet parking is a good deal for the area. Overall, a bit pricey but worth the bucks for a special night out.

Oh so good!
Osso on Nob Hill is an over-the-top steakhouse dining event. Setting is classic art-deco, w/ formally attired waitstaff.
From apps & salads to entrees & side dishes, it's pure high end steakhouse cuisine. Daily menu is worth a look, especially if you have a non-beef lover in the group--large selection of O.T.T. sea-food on offer. However, you know why you go to places like this! As we were dining out all weekend, we elected not to try the apps or salads, though the salad w/ Pt Reyes Bleu cheese is on the list for next visit. We each had filet mignon--beautifully carmelized & perfectly finished! We shared a twice baked potato (have your own if you're a big eater) and huge plate of lightly fried zuchini strips. Planned decadence!

Osso was o-so good
We took our 2 daughters and their husbands for a birthday with a 2 week old baby. Osso gave us a table that worked great with a stroller holding the newborn. good service. the skillet of mussels was terrific. Steaks were great...and big.

A Steak Gem in the City!
There are not many great steakhouses in SF but plenty of California "Fusion" cusine popping up every week! So, as a meat lover, I was very excited about the opening of Osso.
One of the interesting thing is that they do not serve Rib Eye but instead, a Hearty portion of a Bone in Filet Mignon.
I know, you must be thinking "WHAT the....?" I would never order a Filet Mignon beacause as a steak lover, you crave that marbling and texture you come to expect from a Rib eye. But hey, I am willing to try it once. Well, let's just say I have been back 3 times since they have opened! Make sure to order the Crab Cakes, Iron Skillet Roasted Mussels & Crab, and try the House Special Big Bone in Filet Mignon. You almost won't miss the Rib Eye!
6/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Absolutely LOVE Osso! Chic Art Deco atmosphere. The steak is the BEST in SF, bar none! Great menu with lots of wonderful choices. Don't miss the iron skillet seafood appitizers, and, the zucchini fries are to die for. Service was well-paced and very attentive.
6/28/2013 4:00:00 PM
I live nearby. It is a neighborhood gem of the first order!! Perfectly cooked, incredibly delicious steaks. The chorizo cheese bread is to die for!! I will come back to try something other than the steak as the crab sounds wonderful and the other seafood options looked good. We had several side dishes that were outstanding and I thought the wine list was very reasonably priced. I love this place!!

The remodeling of this longstanding
The remodeling of this longstanding space was well-done: it is now sophisticated but welcoming. And the food is excellent: I had a "not a cream of asparagus soup" (clever name for a delicious starter) and a bone-in New York steak, with mashed yam and brussel sprouts as sides---all were excellent. Another good aspect of Osso (pronounced Oh-so) is that the interior is far less noisy than most restaurants these days, so that one can hear one's companions. Finally, the corkage is only $15, a real bargain. But one is in danger of having sticker shock over the bill, which is sure to exceed $100 per person. I worry that Osso won't survive unless they can find a way to lower their prices.

SF steakhouse rivals Orl Del Frisco
Fresh-baked bread so good, and a steal for a full loaf.
Cocktail servings very generous and also a steal.
Steak perfectly cooked and served separate on hot plate - loved it!

Great New Neighborhood Place
I was happily surprised to find Osso had opened up just 2 blocks from me. I have been here twice and their food is great (try their Mushrooms and Filet) and they have a low fee for corkage that makes everyday visits possible in addition to special-occasion use. I highly recommend a visit.

Steaks are great!
This new steakhouse is very close to where we are in Nob Hill so we decided to try it Saturday night. My wife and I each had a filet mignon, which were absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly to our liking. We started by sharing a very fresh and delicious blue cheese salad. Sides are an extra charge of $8.95 each and we ordered cauliflower and a twice baked potato, expecting to share them. Surprisingly, the portions were really only appropriate for one. The potato was a half and small at that. While the sides were tasty, we expected more generous portions.
The service was fine and the place is beautiful and very comfortable, with generous booths. There is also a very nice selection of reasonably priced wines.
7/19/2013 5:00:00 PM
The Crab was suberb......The Desert was absolutely Wonderful and Scrumptous !!! For a Steakhouse, I would definitely recommend the Crab and especially the desert !!
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Done just right!
My first trip to Osso was a success. Food, Drink, Service all excellent. The bone-in NY Steak had a wonderful flavor and was tender enough. Sides were all delicious and ample portions. Enjoyed the atmosphere--very cool but not pretentious.

Osso Steak Night
Great steak. Mushrooms and Creamed Spinach was fabulous

Great service. Great food.
Great service. Great food. Great quiet environment. Pricy, but good place for romantic dates and important occassions.

Steak deserves 5 stars but.....
This was our second visit. The steaks are outstanding and perfectly prepared. I ordered the surf and turf, and the filet mignon was great, but the crab was not at all in the same league. I should have spoken up sooner, as the waiter said, they would have replaced the crab. My fault. I was given a complementary delicious desert.
Service was fine........stick to the steaks!
8/1/2013 5:00:00 PM
If you like steaks, go to Osso Steakhouse. If you don't like steaks, don't go. The service was great. Everyone was incredibly nice and friendly. And the steak was more well prepared than any I've had in the city in a long time.

Terrific food, service and atmosphere. First class.

really good steak and crab
We were all very impressed with the steak and the crab, the apps and the sides could use some help though the octopus crotinini was not very good and had a strange heat to it. Mac and cheese was soggy and off!ut wow the steak was fantastic. Each piece done perfectly to everyones liking the crab was great too. I think I gained five pounds but it was worth it. Might be the best steak in the city, a. Desert was ok but overly rich, we has both the moose and the lemon tart. Wait staff very nice and accomadating but not the most organized, could use some pressional training. Wine list had some nice surprises and a few deals.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food, service, and ambiance was outstanding. I cant wait to go back!
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I were staying in a hotel on Nob Hill. We walked over and enjoyed a lovely dinner. The split porterhouse steak was delicious, tender and cooked perfectly. Salads and sides are ordered separately so you can get just what you want. The wait staff was very helpful and well informed. I have some dietary restrictions; they took special care to insure everything we were served met my needs. We will go back.

Birthday dinner win
A solid steakhouse for myself and my parents to celebrate my father's birthday. Some truly massive cuts of meat, with a reasonably interesting selection of sides, e.g., seaweed in butter. The beet salad was excellent.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Cool art deco scene, great steak.
The restaurant is on top of Nob Hill with a very cool art deco design. The steaks are pricey, but well worth it. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. They come with a demi glaze made from the jus of the meat which enhance the steaks perfectly without taking away the flavor of the meat. A great place for a romantic date.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Friends and Fun
Definitely a place for the old school gang. The petite filet was perfect and the sides were okay. I'm from Texas so I'm somewhat of a steak snob. Our group had a good time before our concert at the Masonic.
9/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Really nice steak and seafood
Really nice steak and seafood offerings on Nob Hill. As most restaurants atop Nob Hill, it's not cheap but the interesting / exotic menu makes it worth the splurge. Seems like a natural stopping point when the Masonic Center has an event as it is right next door and they offer validation in the same garage. When note: if this is prelude to dressier night out, you might want to hold off on the crab as it's work and a bit messy. Staff was very attentive and informed.
9/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Overall my group of 5 had
Overall my group of 5 had a great night and dinner. The service was definitely exceptional. Ordered the NY strip steak, it was very tender however, I thought it lacked exceptional dry aged flavor but I am from the East Coast so maybe it is a little different.
9/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
The steak was melt in your mouth quality. You know a good steak when the last mouthful is as good as the first. Best steak had in a long time.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Steak was okay, dessert great!
Steak was well prepared but lacked any kind of seasoning, I needed a bit of salt and pepper. Cold grilled asparagus just didn't work for me. Tasty baby louie salad with crab. Awesome lemon torte.
My server Ian...and the rest of the wait staff were amazingly attentive. Mr. Wagner, Director of Operations, even stopped by to introduce himself.
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great steak and great service
We hit the jackpot with Osso Steakhouse.
I ordered the bone-in fillet and my wife ordered the white fish. Both were excellent. The steak was amazing. Our server, Sarah, seemed to always show up at the right time and catered to all our needs.
I highly recommend this place.

8 a lot at Osso
Amazing steak. We ordered the bone in New York. Sides are good but not exceptionally great. I expect exceptionally great for those prices.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our second trip to Osso. They do an amazing job of everything. It's expensive, but the quality is the finest. Cocktails, salads, sides, dessert all wonderful, and the NY Steak is the best! They also had a bottle of one of our favorite Pinot's on their excellent wine list, which made the evening even nicer.
10/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
Same steaks as Boboquivari's on Lombard st, due to them being sister restaurants. They are without doubt the best steaks in town (possibly america) and the service was impeccable too. Not much more you can ask for.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Top tier steaks. Drinks & sides were all wonderful. Extensive wine list. Total experience was perfect.
10/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
The scallop gratinee and the octopus crostini were delicious.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Finally a quiet dinner
This was my first visit to Osso.
The ambience is lovely. It's luxurious, comfortable and quiet. My companion is hard of hearing and we are thrilled to find a restaurant where we can converse.
Small disappointments were the martini, which was served in a container filled with ice and was very watery. They need strainers. The cracked crab wasn't fully cracked and hard to eat. The kitchen needs a lighter hand on sauces and dressings. Salad was a bit overdressed. Asparagus was drowned in a heavy butter sauce that left it limp and soggy. Next time we'll ask for sauces on the side
All in all we liked it very much and we'll definitely go back. It's new so hopefully they will fine tune their preparations.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went before a Chris Cornell concert with friends. Excellent steaks and drinks. Highly recommended for anyone going to the Masonic Center.

Solid Steakhouse in SF
First time at Osso I enjoyed my meal from start to finish. Great cocktail from the bar, appetizer and loved the seafood starter. Steaks were cooked perfectly and well flavored. Prices were reasonable.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Celebrated my wifes birthday and the service and food were great. Pleatr try the chorizo bread as an appetizer, very addictive.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
A touch above generic high end steakhouses. Beautiful decor and ambience, attentive service. A better choice than comparably priced chains if you are looking for a posh dining experience. Very classy.
10/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
For too long, all I could recommend up on Nob Hill was The Nob Hill Cafe and Venticello. Now, Osso is my first recommendation. The manager, Kevin, is a true hospitality-class-act.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great for a special occasion
My wife and I went here for our anniversary and couldn't have been more pleased with the food and the service. Our waiter gave us the perfect amount of attention (not too much, not too little), provided us with an excellent wine recommendation and was exceptionally professional. The steak and the scallops were outstanding and we loved the brussel sprouts. We feel that the staff took very good care of us for our special night out and we look forward to our next visit.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great bone in filet
The bone in filet was excellent. The bone in New York was good but not as good as the filet. The caesar salad was excellent. The sides and dessert were good.
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
The bone-in filet mignon is
The bone-in filet mignon is a rare find in the city. This is as good as the bone-in filet at Bobo's. Service has improved significantly since my first vist the week they opened. Osso's is definitely in the top 3 steakhouses in SF.
11/1/2013 5:00:00 PM
World class service, and the
World class service, and the steaks were magnificent! One of the best anniversary dinners my wife and I have ever had!
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
I went to Osso for my birthday dinner and was so pleased. The steaks are out of this world and just the way I like them.
Our server Susan was amazing with service and suggestions and even took by friend by the arm and walked her to the door.
I have been to Stinking Rose and Salito's recently and they are all so consistent and delicious with wonderful portions.
I really enjoyed the article in the Sunday Chronicle about the owner, who is 73 and a local. You can tell he has amazing dedication for what he does. Hats off to Jerry and I will highly recommend to guests who stay at the Claremont Hotel.

My dinner was very good
Osso was recommended by some of my Co-workers who had went there in a small group the night before. I was stuck having dinner alone but the staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome but were by no means pushy. I was in SF for wor and asked a few questions about the area and they were kind enough to help me with some real good suggestions.
I saw grops of friends enjoining them selves as well as couples. Definatly will return when in town again.

dinner before the Van Morrison show
Ossome! Service, food and wine was fabulous. the no cream asparagus soup was specially wonderful
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
This was one of the best places that we ate in during our stay. The food was excellent. One of the best steaks I've had. I would say that it is a bit pricey. And 'fancy' in that the veggies are all creamed. And the roast potatoes were little potato bits roasted. I prefer less complicated foods. However. Very good
