Set in an antique inn from the Civil War era (ghosts and all, apparently!), this restaurant provided us with a wonderful dining experience. They honored my request for a particular table, which is always much appreciated. Food and service were excellent. Highly recommended.

Good food, nice spot, server was above average.
But maitre d claimed she had not yet recieved the Open Table reservation- claiming computers were sometimes low. This, despite the confirmatory email in my inbox for over an hour.
I felt that it was just an excuse to shunt us to te bar for half an hour, which was annoying. They lose points for honesty.

An Admirable Fine Dining Experience
Expensive but well worth it. Excellent service. Menu is wide ranging and the flavors, preparation, presentation and attention to detail are consistently superb. Every dish was fresh, brilliantly conceived and executed. The wine selections are outstanding.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Herr Ridge. We enjoy good food and wine, and this was a treat.

Superb and delicious
The Inn is located a few miles out from Gettysburg in a quiet farm setting. The service was perfect, polite, and timely. We had the oysters for appetizers that were fresh and tangy. We were given a beet salad compliments of the chef. My date had the quinoa and I had the barramundi. Everything was superb and delicious. I'm still thinking about the perfect crust on my fish skin and a buttery risotto. Sous Chef Cody greeted us to ask about our experience. A really great evening.

Don't miss this farm to table restaurant when in Gettysburg. We visited Gettysburg to visit the battlefield and used Open Table io make our dinner reservations. In two relaxed hours we had a fantastic meal. Don 't miss the corn and crab soup. Ed our server was able to discuss the local sources for the fresh food served. We would definitely make this a stop in Gettysburg. We didn't stay at the Inn but would consider in the future.

Good for area
In the midst of historic Gettysburg, a quaint country, roadside inn was OK, could have been better. Service was quite recommendable. Food had an interesting menu that did not quite live up to expectations. Seated on porch at roadside (very close proximity to busy road), flys against window did not add to experience. You have to accept that this is a rural, farmland location, but....
Overall a nice quiet experience after many tourists everywhere all day. But then again, it could have been so much more.

Romantic Setting, Delicious Food!
This restaurant is very beautiful. The atmosphere is very calm and romantic. The waiter was excellent. The food was delicious and made from scratch. Because of this, don't expect to have a quick meal at this Inn. The servers are very attentive. I do recommend the Crab Bisque. It was very delicous. For the price, the bowl should have been a little bigger. We also should have been asked if we wanted more bread while we waited between our soup and entree. These two things are very minor and did not make the experience any less enjoyable for us. Just something for the Inn to consider. Overall, the evening was perfect!

Historic ambiance, great food
We had a wonderful and reasonably priced lunch of local venison sausage and a lobster BLT on the porch of this 1815 tavern overlooking farm fields in Gettysburg. Doesn't get better than that! Excellent service - we will be back!

Great food, quiet and laid back
The food here was wonderful! We especially liked the bread which was served with olive oil and roasted garlic. The entrees were excellent as well. The wine list was so extensive as to be overwhelming, but it had a wide range of prices so no complaints. Although the restaurant was almost empty, the service was leisurely at best -- it took two hours for an entree and dessert. We weren't in a hurry so no problem for us. Were were seated in their enclosed porch which was enjoyable. Not a low priced restaurant by any stretch but a good value in our opinion.

This inn had a great and diverse wine list - almost 200 pages! However, the first 4 wines we chose were not available. Other than that, the dinner went beautifully. Appetizers were delicious (if a bit small) and the entrees were great. All food is noted as being grown locally. The proprietors were aware that we were celebrating my parents' 60th wedding anniversary and came over with complimentary glasses of champagne. How nice!! Dessert was the best - a Boston Cream Pie Martini! I'd definitely visit again.

Good option for food--for service..
We had reservations and arrived right on time only to be told our table was not ready and could we sit at the bar. No problem, EXCEPT no one ever waited on us at the bar! Unacceptable. Table service was fine. Food good. Not many options in GBurg.

Great restaurant just outside
Great restaurant just outside of Gettysburg. Awesome food and service - really nice menu that goes well beyond historical period food that you might expect from the area. Extensive wine list and quiet atmosphere. Would like to try staying in the Inn.

All food is local except for the fish - everything is from a 30 mile radius. Had the short ribs that were absolutely excellent and the veggies were spot on. Service was right on without being overbearing and server was quite knowledgable on the menu and made you feel special while you were there. Will definitely go back again - SOON !

Great Meal, Chef
This place is a bit out of town on a main road, truck traffic was a bit distracting as we sat in what was once the front porch facing the road. They have a large wine list and we had a bottle of Jordan Cab, very nice but a bit overpriced. Soup was potato leak, which we split and it was good and earthy tasting. We then had a chef's course of pickled yellow beets, something I very much enjoyed. My main was scallops and shrimp over orzo with pumpkin sauce. Great fall meal, my gf had the filet, locally grown and super tender, with a side of asparagus and piped mashed. We split a hot apple turn over with salted caramel sauce for dessert. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. Overall about a 4 out of 5.

A Gettysburg Treasure
We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the great service of our waitress. Ambiance good. A bit noisy at times. But the meals were excellent.
