Another great find, thanks
Another great find, thanks to OpenTable. Excellent veal with just the right amount of attention from the staff. Won't miss the opportunity to return on my next trip here.

A great neighborhood go-to
A great neighborhood go-to restaurant without fuss and spur of the moment. All the dishes come out piping out especially the pasta dishes (which some of the fancier restaurant fail to achieve) and vegetables are fresh. The staff if very friendly and service is excellent. The price point is such that this will be a restaurant that we will frequent quite often in the future.

This is a new restaurant in
This is a new restaurant in Menlo Park and it is definitely worth trying. It's actually on a little alley just off of OakGrove Ave. They have tables set up outside so it's great to eat there on a warm evening.
The food was very good and the service was terrific.

Itialian comfort food
We tried Piccolo because it is named after our cat, and because I was looking for some Italian comfort food. They came through. This is a small restaurant (hence the name, so is our cat) and it was not full this Wednesday night, making conversation easy. The table next door seemed to be practicing their Italian, which was charming. The waiter was attentive and the owner was friendly. The fava bean bruschetta was particularly good.

We have been a couple times
We have been a couple times in the last couple of months, and the service has always been very helpful. This last time we went, there was a larger group. Yes, it is a tiny restaurant, but they make the most of the space, and the food has been very tasty. Definitely will go to again. The only problem is that they are located off the main street, on a smaller side street, so unless you drive by, you may miss it. But that quiet location makes helps make the restaurant a hidden gem!

Cute little place in small street in Menlo Park. Very reasonably priced. Had very nice mixed greens salad with nice piece of grilled salmon on top.
Very nice & good service

Piccolo's is great! We were
Piccolo's is great! We were looking for a newish Italian food place and found out about the restaurant through Open Table and it sounded just right....which it was. We were a group of 4 senior ladies celebrating our birthdays and 40+ years of friendships. The waiter couldn't have been more accomodating. He was helpful, pleasant and expedient, AND gave us two desserts with candles on the house!!! We had a perfect corner table which was very comfortable and intimate. Loved that the restaurant only accomodates 12 as of course, that kept the noise level down. The food was outstanding, and two of us even ordered additional entrees from the menu to take home to our hubbys.
Look forward to returning to Piccolos and wish them the best.

Pasta was perfectly cooked
Pasta was perfectly cooked and clearly handmade in the back. It is a small restaurant and we had to wait about 15 minutes for our reservation but the manager was so nice and came with glasses of champagne as we waited. Our server was not the most informed but she was pleasant and also brought us a couple desserts to try (on the house) at the end of our meal. We will definitely go back and it may become our Italian go to restaurant.

I was looking for a midweek,
I was looking for a midweek, local dining spot and came upon Piccolo on Open Table. It is tucked on a quiet side street and is a darling restaurant. We were greeted promptly, with a smile and promptly seated. The bread was perfect; crusty and delicate at the same time. I was not drinking wine for the evening, but I would like to return to explore the wine list. We started with the salad with strawberries and avocado, perfectly balanced. I ordered the tortellini and my dining companion ordered the penne pasta pesto with chicken, both were delicious. The dessert menu looked delicious, but we passed for the night. Perhaps another trip to sample wine and dessert? Will definitely return.

This difficult to find restaurant
This difficult to find restaurant is a great addition to Menlo Park. The service was great as was the food. I found the prices cheaper than similar establishments in the area, which is an additional plus.

This was our first visit to
This was our first visit to Piccolo. I had a wonderful pasta dish, my husband had the chicken cutlet which was delicious. We also started with a nice salad and crostini appetizer--everything was terrific. Service was great and we look forward to eating there again. We will probably be regulars. Wishes to them for success.

Food was very good; service was attentive. Noise level was high. We were just a party of two, and sometimes had a hard time hearing each other.

Great new place!
Piccolo is a gem in Menlo Park. Get the fiochetti-- it is out of this world! The waiter is very friendly. They pour a big glass of wine, which is great. The prices are decent yet competitive with other Menlo Park restaurants.

Small place that has changed
Small place that has changed owners/cuisines at least 3 times in 5 years. We hope this one sticks, because the food is very good, and the staff, from the owner to the bus boy, provide great service. This may become our go-to place when we can't decide where to eat.
Red sauce is simple, straightforwrad, not too spicy. Specials have been very good. My chicken parmgiana on my most recent visit (of 3) was uninteresting, but sill probably 3-stars, and everything else has been 4 or 5.

A bit of Italy in Menlo Park
Piccolo is very similar to a restaurant experience in Italy. Step off the sidewalk into a cozy interior with a bar to the right and tables in the middle and a wall bench with tables against the left wall. One room with all the character of a local eatery. The food is fresh and a good value. Service is quick to respond and water is constantly refilled. The style leans toward the creamy sauce style, versus the straight tomato or reduction style. I found it worked well with the lasagna and gorgonzola filled pasta, but on the more simple tortellini it was a bit overwhelming. The mozzarella creamy and smooth. A sign of well balanced bruschetta is the ability to bite apart without the toppings spilling; Piccolo's scored an A from me.

Solid addition to Menlo Park
Very good pasta dishes and solid wine list. Menlo Park has a few good italian eateries, but Piccolo is more of the east coast variety -- pasta dishes are featured, and homemade pastas are excellent and better than other local options, which tend to emphasize more of the secondi stage of the meal. Early days, but looks like a keeper for Menlo Park -- hope they get their full bar license soon.

Like touring through Italy
Love this new *little* restaurant. Their crostini are always creative...mmmm the burrata with mushrooms and truffle oil...yum. It's a cute place with good Italian food. They are very nice--been twice and will keep going.

Wonderful Italian in Menlo Park
We had a delicious and fun evening at Piccolo. Elio is a charming and helpful host/owner. The food was really excellent. They will cook things to your specifications and/or change the way an entree is cooked to please your palate. We will definitely go back and often!

First Time Birthday Celebration
My son loves Italian food, and we had business in the Menlo Park area.
I looked up Italian restaurants on Open Table and found Piccolo!
It was small and friendly. All three of the teenagers I brought with me loved
the fresh pasta and bread. We would definitely come back. They have
a take out menu also!

Authentic Italian cousine and wine
I don't remember I am ever been to a Italian restaurant as authentic as Piccolo. We had a team dinner there and all of my team members were happy with the Quality, Authenticity, Taste and Quantity of food.
They have small collection of Italian wines and we tried one which was awesome.
Overall good for everyone who like Italian food.

a real find
We have eaten here at least 5 times and each time the food was excellent and the service superb. As opposed to many other ordinary Italian restaurants in the area, the food has a depth of taste and complexity

Our 31rst anniversary dinner
Warmly inviting intimate atmosphere, authentic Italian dishes, homemade pastas, incredible sauces / cheeses, crisp salads, al dente fresh vegetables, crusty bread ... service by knowledgable and delightful Luciano. We are eager to come back!

What a find!
A little gem tucked away off a main street in downtown Menlo Park. The carrot soup was absolutely delicious I could have made a meal of just that. The salmon was moist and melt in your mouth good. I'm definitely coming back as I can't wait to try out all the dishes on the menu.

Steady good food, friendly service
Glad to see this local restaurant having a full dining room. Reliably good food. Not adventurous, but enough variety to keep us coming back. Very friendly, attentive service. Becoming one of our go-to restaurants.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Friendly, yummy and great service!
Couldn't have found a better place to meet with 4 friends for dinner. The staff could not have been more accommodating, the pasta sauce was delicious and it wasn't overcrowded or too loud like most restaurants in Palo Alto. I'll be back!
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely little place. Our pasta dishes were delicious -- especially the pear-gorgonzola gnocchi. An appetizer with fresh mozz and mushroom /truffle topping was spot on. Finished off panna cotta w a peach reduction -- so good...
Small, but really more intimate (in the nicest meaning). Service was so friendly ... just a bit on the slow side on occasion ... probably most would see it as positively no-pressure.
we were there on Sat eve, although no line, would recommend reservations especially for more than two.
Definitely will be back.

NEW GEM IN MENLO PARK
This is a wonderful little gem in Menlo Park. The food is terrific and homemade. The seating is tight because it is a tiny restaurant. I had the eggplant parmigiana which is the best I have had in the area. My dinner companions all had pasta dishes which they loved. RESERVATIONS ADVISED. We will return many times.

Dining at Piccolo makes for a lovely evening. A quiet, cozy restaurant, with a warm, welcoming charm. Excellent service with a personal touch. Three out of four meals were outstanding, with the fourth (gnocchi) okay. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Portions are generous. Piccolo is the kind of restaurant you want in your neighborhood, to make a simple dinner out something special.

This restaurant has great Italian food. They could do better if they expanded the space a bit.

Terrific Small Eatery
A great dinner at this small spot in Menlo Park.
Very upbeat. A couple of outside tables with heat lamps for cooler evenings.
Definitely a place to have an excellent meal.
