Great new spot in an area
Great new spot in an area brimming with them. You'd barely know it's a new restaurant from the quality of service and food. Great beer list, really original cocktails, and wines for all price points. Couldn't be more pleased with my experience and looking forward to coming back.

Awesome addition to the neighborhoo
Tavern Road is a great addition to the waterfront neighborhood. Good beer list and cocktail menu. Extensive foodie-friendly menu (vegetarians need not apply). Every plate we had - from Sea Bream to Pork, to the sides (spaetzel, beets, broccoli rabe) were all great. And our waiter was fantastic, made great recommendations.

Great start for Tavern Road,
Great start for Tavern Road, which has been open a month. Server provided a complete (almost too long) explanation of the food and drink. Service was attentive and friendly. Menu is really interesting. In-house chacuterie that was delicious. For mains, two of us had fish. One was a char, cooked just warm in the center. The other was a cobia, prepared as escabeche, so it was marinated not cooked. Both were outstanding. Sides are separate, but each one is enough for 3 diners. Great sauteed kale.
A few hiccups as they work out the kinks - no cheese course yet, only 2 desserts of which one was 86. But overall it was really good and will only get better.

We had several different fish
We had several different fish entrees - all were excellent!! The lamb was to die for!!

Tavern Road has fantastic
Tavern Road has fantastic food with an imaginative menu with something for everyone. Have been twice now and a different menu each time. The steaks are amazing along with the porchetta. You MUST get the spaetzle as a side - you will never crave mac and cheese again. I always get the steak tartar as it is amazing and the charcuterie is always a good split with the group.

The food and the service were both excellent. It was quality and innovative food at very reasonable prices. The lamb meatballs and porchetta were so tasty i can't wait to try them again. It was overall a very enjoyable experience. It is definitely a place I will recommend to my friends and that will become a regular patron of.

Really enjoyed Tavern Road- bar was hopping & the food was excellent

Wonderful, inventive, delicious menu. Really great service. Not much of a dessert menu (just ice cream and chocolate chip cookies).Music was too loud.

Amazing Chef Louis and brother Michael have a more amazing team and menu for dinner in Boston near Tea Party ship and waterfront

New to neighborhood. First
New to neighborhood. First time here and loved it. Everything we had was great. Loud, happening place most nights. May not be right place if you're looking for a quieter night. Mixed drinks are legit.
4/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great food, but ridiculously loud.
The food and atmosphere were great. However, the noise level makes it hard to hear the person sitting directly across from you. This place would be an absolute gem if they'd hire a sound engineer and dampen the noise even slightly.
4/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
Outstanding food, great service,
Outstanding food, great service, nice setting.
You should go with people you don't listen to anyway or get all your coversation over with before dinner. The noise level, people not music is, at times, intense.
But you should be going to eat the food, it is well worth the effort.
4/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food was really excellent,
The food was really excellent, as were the menu selections. The service was great. Each dish had a distinctive "voice", unlike so many places where everything just blurs together for the sake of some "concept."
I know it's very fashionable for trendy places to be very noisy, but we thought this is just a little too loud. Maybe the music could be turned down just a bit? Very hard to talk to the other diners in the din.

I think I'm in love...
Knowledgeable wait staff. Creative drink menu. Recommend ordering snacks as well as a ton of sides. Menu is short yet delightful. I highly recommend getting creative and ordering off the drink menu. I myself ordered the Heaven on Her Lips as well as the Pink Dutch Blunderbuss, both are sweet but good. Bar tender will customize drinks based on preference. Sides are the stars of the meal, split the Broccoli Rabe, Roasted Beets, and Potato Gnocchi. Rabe was definitely my favorite, made with hazelnuts and vanilla. Place is a hit. I ordered Sea Bream as an entree, comes as a WHOLE fish, but wait staff walks you through how to eat it. Dish is delicious but NOT a date night food (tons of bones, you've been warned!) GO HERE, DON'T WAIT.

We had a great experience at this newish Boston hot spot. The space is open and inviting, the menu is unique for both its items and its design and the service team is very knowledgeable and attentive. This only thing keeping this from being a perfect score is that the both the soup and porchette were served a little cool. Oh, and the 80s classic rock was a little out of place. Other than that a great night out.
5/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
Splendid high energy experience.
The food was inspired, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, the wine and beer selections well-thought-out. We loved watching the kitchen. Louis was there in front all night, plating every dish. We were touched to see him carrying the manager's young boy around the kitchen, showing how everything's done. The music was loud, and so the crowd was too... boisterous.
5/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Really awesome experience.
Really awesome experience. Loved every minute of it!

Atmosphere is fantastic. The service as spot on - attentive and very knowledgeable about the food. I would definitely recommend. The place is trendy with great food, and love the open kitchen.

Really impressed by Tavern Road on first visit. Loved the atmosphere, such a cool scene.

Memorable Service, Delicious Food
I noted in my reservation that we were celebrating my best friend's birthday. When it came time for dessert, she didn't want any. Our server found a creative way to make sure she still got a birthday wish and many smiles. It was amazing! Sip on the Cruella or Fishnets & Fangs. Munch on fried chickpea bites and whipped feta. Indulge in the steak. Heaven.
5/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
I eye spied a port wine sour and pisco sour that I for sure need to try next time. In the meantime, I loved the Fishnets & Fangs. The steak tartare is an unexpected combination with peanuts in the mix but it's pure heaven.

Don't miss out on the appetizers - snowpeas bites is a discovery!
Great selection of wines and cocktails.
Came twice already, and will definitely come again!

Great place for food or cocktails
Outstanding cocktail program, and they won't turn their nose up if you just want a shot and a beer. Love these people. Great food, and the beverage program is far above the norm. Definitely worth the trip!

Refreshing and innovative...
We live in southie and are always looking for new and fun places to visit on the weekends. After hearing about Tavern Road, I decided to look them up online to see what they were all about. The menu seemed very adventurous and non-traditional, and the drink list was very unique. We went there for dinner on a nice Friday night and the experience was great. Our waitress was very friendly and the food was fantastic. One of us got the smoked chicken and the other got the bluefish. We also tried a few of the the specialty drinks on the menu (the down & brown is fantastic). Overall, everything was wonderful and I highly recommend Tavern Road is you're looking for a unique menu and good vibe.

Great food and service
Very nice menu, great food that was well prepared and presented, and wonderful service. Would definitely go back again.

Second time here was fantastic.
Second time here was fantastic. We live in the neighborhood and ended up sitting in the bar area as we wanted to watch the Stanley Cup game and have a nice meal. Had great seats, great food and great service. Our server's name was Kelly and I want to give her a huge thumbs up for her attention to detail, her ability to engage us in conversation and to leave us alone when we were doing just fine. All of those are great skills and most servers don't have them. Restaurant has a great vibe and the little plates are well done and offer lots of great choices. Wine list is also quite good. Will be back a lot!!!

A Gem by the Children's Museum
New place with a great feel. Went on a hot night, open air windows allowed in a refreshing breeze. Decor is hip -- huge original artwork, R&B on the stereo. Mouth-watering bread to start. A tasty chick pea starter, a creamy goat cheese offering. Carrot and pea and lettuce salad has two contrasting dressings. Citrus chicken: lovely, concentrated, complimentary flavors and textures. Young bok choi; a medley of roasted cauliflower and beets, oh boy. Moans of pleasure. Cocktail favorite: "Heaven on Her Lips" -- sweet but not too sweet, full of flavor. Floated out of there. Waiter Sean was great, service and vibe really good. Going back, taking our son, emerging foodie and cook. Next time we'll pocket bread for later, try dessert...

Out of town diner
I found Tavern Road through a review, which was spot on. The place was high energy, suitable for foodies, and had a great bar. The food and drinks were fabulous--charcuterie, gnocchi, chicken, steak, and the cocktail down and brown. The server and bartender were attentive; however, the hostess forgot about us, which struck a nerve with me. Overall, this place was great and if I lived nearby, I would become a regular.

Great Food, Service, bad acoustics
Incredible food and service, but extremely loud, even when bar area calms down. Need better ceiling acoustics. Design of the place is wonderful, except for that. I am eating great food, but we have to strain to hear each other even when dining away from the bar. Great that the windows open in good weather.

Small bites - especially the chickpea bites - were unexpectedly flavorful. Only downfall is that all dishes require you to order a side separately.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our first time at this restaurant. My husband ordered the bluefish which was fresh and delicious in it's simplicity. I ordered the yellow watermelon soup which seemed appropriate for one of the hottest days of the summer. It was delicious and refreshing.
I also ordered the romano veggie side which was a delicious combination of beans, basil, fresh tomatoes and EVOO. We shared the fresh goat cheese spread on bagels. Tasty too.
We had excellent service. Our waiter was cordial and informative. The hosts were friendly. Decor interesting and good to know that they are able to accommodate large parties. The only issue was the noise level. Loud, energetic sometimes hard to talk over the din.
The delicious meal trumps the noise.

Solid new spot
Checked it out last week with a few buddies. We had a great time. Food was great across the board. I found the prices reasonable and the rye whiskey special was excellent. My wife also went here a few weeks earlier and loved it. We both recommend the blue fish pâté - sounds terrible but its unreal.

Interesting Food, Energetic Vibe
We selected Tavern Road after a quick search on the web for top Boston restaurants. The review we saw mentioned that the restaurant specialized in local / seasonal ingredients. Overall the experience was good. The menu was very interesting and diverse and the food we selected was good. The service was excellent! Our server was very knowledgeable of all aspects of the menu, from the special drinks, wine list and food items.

Don't go if you're hungry!
Went with a group of 4 for a "low key" type of dinner. Overall the food was good however the portions are incredibly small, I would not recommend this place for dinner if you're hungry as everything comes ala carte starting with miniscule portions on up to moderate. We tried some things we'd never heard of before and the food was tasty, just didn't quite cover the bases though as we all left a bit hungry. That being said, I'd return for the bar alone - great cocktail menu and we tried just about all of them again not having a clue what some of the ingredients were. Our waitress was very knowledgable and helpful and overall it was a fun night and great music and energetic vibe. If they start serving bigger portions, we'll be back!

GET THE WHIPPED FETA
Whoa. It keeps me coming back over and over. It is awesome. I mean, everything is really good. Wine list is great, drinks are moderately priced and really interesting, but man-oh-man, that whipped feta is amazing. I've been in 3 times just for that.

Exciting destination to meet friend
Industrial art, urban chic atmosphere. A place to see and be seen. We sat by the wide, open window on Congress Street and took in the balmy, summer air and after-work glow on Congress Street. Michael helped us choose from their own signature cocktails and the stage was set for entrees and sides that were nothing short of delightful: surprising combinations of fresh, local ingredients for alchemies in cuisine that hit lots of notes all at once in short succession, lingering afterwards. My second time there. Definitely want to return at least once every season and then some.

Mellow on a Monday
Tavern Road had a few rare empty tables on a Monday night in August -- a mellow vibe, really fine creative food, attentive and informed servers, even reasonable noise levels (and a 70s playlist). Later in the week it becomes far more clamorous and crowded, but some people like that. Prices were a tad on the high side -- mostly because 2 starters added > $30 to the bill. But I'd go back again for sure. Congress Street has become a new foodie paradise, and with good reason.
8/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Can't wait to return. The skate wing was incredible. Loved that there was a vegetarian menu with great options. The corn soup and sides of eggplant and beet salad were delicious. The warm rolls with parmesan were so good. The staff was wonderful. The windows are a unique design element and we were happy that they were open on a beautiful night. Tavern Road is a great addition to the neighborhood and to Boston.

Road to Perfection
We had a 30th birthday here. I was not thinking too much about what experience we would have, though I knew the staff were acclaimed and the restaurant was trying to bring some local and neighborhood flare. We were literally blown away and I cannot wait to go back. The staff worked well together and made great recommendations individualized for our group. Probably the most efficient place I have ever been regarding the clearing of plates and empty glasses. The food was unique, delicious and delivered quickly. The staff and ambience were fun and surprising. Our group agreed entirely that we couldn't have made a better choice for the birthday celebration. Rarely have a been to a new restaurant that nailed every aspect of dinning.

What a find!
Some friends and I decided to check out Tavern Road for an early dinner Saturday night. We were greeted warmly greeted at the door upon arrival and escorted to our table in the hip, eclectic dining room. We started with the creative drink menu and the delicious Chickpea Bites - soft and warm, with hint of spice. We loved the smoked chicken breast and the night's special - a kale and sausage ravioli dish. Service was warm and friendly and the owners made it a point to check on us during our meal. With a drink or two each, entrees, and a few dessert to try, the bill was incredible reasonable for such wonderfully prepared food. The place was really buzzing by the time we headed out. Will definitely come again!!!

Party of four + 1 kid. Restaurant was very accommodating. Service was beyond excellent. Our server really went out of her way to make sure we understood the menu and that we were happy with both our bar and food choices. Great open area restaurant. Very clean and friendly. Again, food was excellent. Parm and rosemary bread to die for. Bar menu was quite comprehensive. Drinks amazing. Only a couple of suggestions for the restaurant:
1. Add more vegetarian entree options
2. Make drinks a little larger. Portions seemed quite small.
Overall, place was great. Will definitely return!

Can't Get Enough
I love Tavern Road. I've never had a bad drink, bad food, bad experience. The servers are enthusiastic and passionate, the food is creative and delicious and those cocktails are heaven. This time I tried the leg of lamb steak special. It was perfect. Can't wait to go back.

Inventive and Well Prepared
I had a great meal at Tavern Road with my husband while spending a weekend in Boston recently. The menu was interesting and the food delivered. We started with a few of the 'bites' first and shared the ricotta app, all yummy. For the main I found the pancetta to be a bit fatty but it was tasty, and the side with beets was really nice. For dessert we ordered the cookie plate, it was enough for 4 and all great especially their take on a chocolate chip which was very memorable. Our server was very friendly and helpful. I think the food scene in Boston doesn't live up to Brooklyn, but his place held it's own. Much better then some other spots we tried and thought were just ok.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Unique and tasty!
We started with the chick pea bites. Two of us loved them. The other 4 didn't...adding a side sauce would be a good idea. Whipped feta was divine. We all loved it. Most had steak for dinner. We tried most of the sides. Squash couscous was yummy but sweeter than I'd expect for a side. Cheese pasta was good -- could have had more kick to put it over the top. The flavorings of the side dishes was unusual (citrus?) but good. Our waitress was lovely -- friendly and helpful. Very attentive staff to water and wine refills. Hostess gave me "the eye" when I asked her to seat us one table further away from the bar due to noise level. All the tables were vacant, so not sure what the big deal was.
I'd definitely go back.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
We sat at one of the high tops, which is a little louder and more constricted than the big booths or tables. Open kitchen and cool crowd helps the overall vibe. Very good food and creative menu.

Perfect Night Out!
Amazing experience at Tavern Road, from start to finish. Service was great from the moment we walked in the door and the food was exquisite! Fun, lively, open atmosphere but did not overwhelm our table conversation. The Duck Prosciutto was one of the best food items I have ever tasted. Great prices for the deliciously well thought out menu and experience! Highly recommend Tavern Road.

I've been to TR once before
I've been to TR once before for dinner, (and many times to TR food for lunch) and it didn't disappoint this time. We had a 9:00 booking and the table wasn't quite ready, we were happy to stand in the bar area and have some drinks. While we waited they sent us some snacks to help tide us over (which was really nice). The cocktails were great (my favorite was a Waltham Experiment). There were four of us and we shared two appetizers, the ricotta and the heirloom tomato salad. The salad was nice and the ricotta was pretty spectacular. For entrees we had Osso Bucco, the porchetta and a flank steak. Everyone enjoyed their entrees as well. Great meal, great service, and I love the ambience there (I am partial to louder, happening kinds of places)
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
We'll go back
Some really great drinks, we loved the De La Vega cocktail.
The menu has some outstanding items, I enjoyed the steak with chimichurri.
My husband had the wild mushroom risotto which was delicious.
Sides were so so, nothing memorable, I'm always a little annoyed by a restaurant that doesn't give one
side dish accompanying the entree, so keep in mind that the the entrees seem really well priced but you have to add the cost
of a potato/veggie.
We always find an open kitchen so interesting, and this place seems well run and really clean.
We'll go back .

great evening Tavern Road.!
We were a party of 4 one vegetarian... and three major foodies...we had super evening. We chose lots of small plates to start including the charcuterie board. All were so tasty! The ambiance is lovely, we enjoyed to mural....and the bar area is great. Cocktails were excellent. Our main dishes were so yummy! The risotto, out of this world. We had a great time with the cookie board. The service was 100% we never wanted for anything, everyone was personable, and efficient. This restaurant is a keeper. For Sure.
