My wife and I ate dinner here on a Monday night. And we loved it! The service was great, and the food was just as good. We started with the charcuterie plate with shaved elk, smoked duck breast ham, and wild game patê. The next course was the olive oil marinated watermelon salad with pop rocks (yes, pop rocks!). And then we had the kangaroo filet with crispy pork belly, and that was wonderfully juicy and flavorful kangaroo!
My only complaint was the fact that this is an upscale restaurant, and they don't enforce a dress code. I don't think kids wearing hoodies and sagging jeans to dinner is acceptable. They should have been turned away at the door.
Overall, it was a great meal and a great night.

Our dining experience was most enjoyabley! We were greeted as we walked up to the host stand. Your staff are all wonderfully sweet. We needed to wait for the remainder of our party so we were taken to the bar area. The bar itself is pretty, but the room needs a bit more added to make it liveble. It just seemed empty and not very attractive. Enjoyed looking at the canoe so I certainly would keep that.

Wonderful as always
This is our favorite place to eat and with the fresh sourcing of seasonal ingredients and vegetables, we are always pleasantly surprised by the dishes brought to our table. Highly recommended!!!

great "unusual" food
I've been to the Craftwood in a few times now and it is always an enjoyable experience. The waiters are always very attentive and knowledgeable. This is especially nice for some diners that may not be familiar with food that isn't mainstream. For instance: ostrich, kangaroo, etc. I dine out a lot and have had many types of food but it still had a couple of things on the menu I had not tried yet which was refreshing. The ambience was nice, it does get busy and louder during normal dining times so if you prefer a quieter atmosphere I'd recommend going on the early or late side, the tables are a bit too close together for my taste. I've had some very bad experiences with both and The Craftwood Inn has very nice food.

It is very expensive but the food is sooo good it is worth it. Just cant afford to eat here but for special occations. The chef can cook the best game flavors. Would really like to eat here more often.

Change from the regular.....
Craftwood Inn is a wonderful place to take that special someone or for a special occasion. Be prepared to spend a little money but the distict dishes they offer are well worth the price. Great wine list.....great atmosphere.

Unfortunately we were seated
Unfortunately we were seated over the upstairs air conditioning vent. Although the food was quite good the ambience was disappointing due to being cold for the whole time we were there. Additionally the server, although he tried hard and was pleasant, was clearly overwhelmed

This was by far one of the best meals, in one of the best restaurants, with by far some of the best service my husband and I have ever had. We had an amazing meal, were able to have a conversation, and our waiter was fantastic. We will be going back soon.
5/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
The experience was spot on although there are some spice to food parings that were different; goat cheese on black forest cake, apricot sauce on wild boar. The meats were tender and cooked to order.

Incredible Food & Service
Craftwood specializes in a variety of game meats such as elk, kangaroo, wild boar, alligator, etc and they do ALL of them very well. This is fine dining with a game meat twist and Executive Chef Brother Luck (yes, you read that right and it is his real name) does an amazing job presenting every plate. Levi was our waiter and he did an incredible job. He has extensive food and wine knowledge, is very professional and has a great personality. If you are in or near Colorado Springs, you MUST go to The Craftwood Inn. We will definitely be back!

Rivals the Best
Not since my visit to Stockholm's Mathias Dahlgren a few months back have I had such a wonderful dining experience. The delightful restaurant is situated smack in the heart of the beautiful Pike's Peak area with a million dollar view. The staff is friendly and attentive with an attention to detail second to none. Will certainly be back again and again.

We were visiting Colorado at the time of my Wife's birthday, and decided to try the Craftwood Inn on the day itself, after a recommendation from the barman at our hotel. We could not have been happier with our evening. It was brilliant!! The food was fantastic, the service very attentive, and the setting fantastic. Thank you very much for a wonderful evening.

Levy was our waiter and was simply excellent. The four of us had a wonderful dining experience and will definitely return to the Craftwood Inn.

Thanks for a lovely evening
Several years ago we dined at the Craftwood Inn and found the experience memorable, for all the right reasons. We live several hours away, so it is not a usual stop. A friend and I decided to celebrate my husband's birthday with a special dinner, and again it was quite wonderful. We started with perfect martinis, followed with a shared plate of rabbit terrine, shaved elk, duck breast and several condiments. Our entrees were lamb, buffalo short ribs and muscovy duck breast with foie gras--all cooked perfectly, with appropriate garnish and accompaniments. The bread was just as good as it should have been. The wine list offered an excellent red to accompany the meal. Wish we lived closer, we'd be a permanent fixture.

We've been to Craftwood Inn many times and it's always a favorite. Love the menu for it's eclectic variety of choices from the appetizers through the main course. The wild boar this time was exceptional. Greta place to take friends from out of town for a unique local experience.

We were visiting the Manitou
We were visiting the Manitou Springs area and decided to have 1 "nice" meal while we were there. We took our 5 year old son, which concerned us when we arrived due to the fact it was very quiet that night. We asked to eat outside, which was a great idea all the way around. It was a beautiful mountain view and we even saw some deer grazing in the courtyard below us. I enjoyed the 4 course meal upgrade to the bass and scallops. My meal was delicious. My husband had the tenderloin and said it was cooked perfectly. We had the tapas dish for an appetizer so we got to try a variety of wild game meats. Overall its a nice place for a fine dining experience.

Great for Birthdays
If you go for your birthday celebration (you have to visit on your actual birthday), make sure you have signed up for their e-club a few days prior, because they will send you a free coupon. Our coupon said that it was for a free entree. However, when we arrived, we were told by our waiter that it was only for $30 off, and there are very few items at that price. Many are $35-45.
It seemed like all the tables were there for a birthday, because they brought just about every table something with a candle. Unfortunately, they nearly forgot about us at the beginning (we already knew what we wanted, and waited about 15-20 minutes for our waiter) and didn't get any bread until after our appetizer portion. All in all, though, a good 2 hours spent

Romance in the mountains
Wow, great food and atmosphere! Perfect for a date with your wife! We will be back!

We had an opportunity to have an adult night out, no kids, and this was an awesome night. Staff was very attentive, food was excellent.

Wonderful View; Awesome food
We arrived early (actually before they opened) and they seated us and brought us drinks right away. We soaked in the beautiful view before having scrumptous dinner. Two of us had the quail, rabbit, duck combo while the other had the elk, wild boar, ??. All was great. The add on for salad, sorbet and dessert was well worth it. Great friends, great view and wonderful food topped off by super service. Always a great time at the Craftwood Inn.

Great dining experience
An excellent restaurant with a unique menu and notable wine list. I recommend enjoying a nice dinner and bottle of wine on the patio.
7/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
We tried some really unusual items and they were absolutely delicious. The pheasant risotto was a perfect appetizer and both the water melon and mozzarella salads were very different, surprising complex in flavor, and absolutely scrumptious! My favorite meal was the melt in your mouth short ribs with cheesy grits and mango chutney. We passed on the dessert as we were all very satisfied and the only thing that may have tempted us would have been a rich chocolately creation, but that was not on the menu. Lot's a fabulous fruit inspired items like a blueberry upside down cake, lime cheesecake, orange mousse and watermelon soup. The service was perfect ... we never had to ask for a thing. This is a bit pricey, but worth every penny!

Classic Colorado Cuisine
We've been visiting the Craftwood Inn for birthdays and anniversaries for eight years now, ever since we had our wedding reception there. The servers are some of the most professional I've ever encountered, and we can't ever get over how wonderful the food is. The menus change and the time and care the chefs put into each one is amazing every time. Thank you for always making our trips to the Craftwood memorable!
7/18/2013 5:00:00 PM
Overall the dining was very nice. My wife enjoyed the lamb and soup. The desert was also very good. However, I had the Bufalo Brisket and it wass awful. It was extremely dry and had no flavor at all. As a Pro BBQer I know what needs to be done with a difficult piece of meat. They don't. I would go back but would stay away from the Buffalo Brisket.

S'more bombe for dessert was the highlight of the meal.

My wife and I took a vacation to Colorado for our anniversary, and wanted to eat somwhere that was "Natively Colorado". This restraunt was an excellent choice. Their signature Elk dish is amazing (I would highy recommend it), and the view of Pikes Peak is breathtaking (especially for Kansas dwellers like us).
8/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is the place my parents dined on special occasions back in the 1950s and I remembered it when I returned to live in Colorado 20+ years ago. Your food is outstandingly prepared and the service is always fantastic.
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
We brought my brother and his wife who were visiting. We were hoping for a different restaurant experience. The ambiance and service was very nice. The food was prepared beautifully and nice size portions. We ordered a sampler plate so we could taste several of the meets we've never had. We liked them all - Elk, Boar sausage, and pate. We didn't care for the duck, but that's probably our taste buds. The lamp, scallops, boar meat and kangaroo were all very good.

The Place for Uniqueness
As someone that loves trying new things it was an instant challenge trying to decide between such rare items as kangaroo, ostrich, boar and elk. I opted for the kangaroo which the server did warn was not as tender as beef. He was right, it wasn't. It was tasty even though I felt it was a tad overcooked. My friend's steak was also overcooked. The dish came with medallions of yam that were grilled but had very little flavor so I'd suggest the chef get a bit more creative with seasonings. The only other thing I found odd was that they sat those that were there as couples right near a large group that was quite noisy when there were other areas of the restaurant that would have been more conducive to enjoying a romantic evening.
8/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, AMAZING service
This will be a pricey night out, but the food is amazing, try the kangaroo! However, the service was really the highlight of the night. Brian was our server and he was a real foodie with great suggestions!! An amazing night out.

One of our party requires a gluten free diet, and the facility provided many options as well as bread made specifically for those with Celiac Disease.

A Special Place
If you are looking for a place to show off Colorado to out of state visitors or to woo your significant other, this is the perfect place. The professional staff, exotic entrees, extensive wine list, and superb desserts were expected from what I heard and read about the Craftwood Inn. But the cozy outdoor setting, nestled in the mountainside trees, with deer casually strolling by marked this as a truly special place. Thank you for helping to make my wife's birthday a memorable occasion!
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely meal. Had to eat fast, because of the cool night wind on the corner table in front on porch. The wine service is excellent and it was a highlight in the evening. The rabbit was wonderful and the lemon verbena cream brûlée was heaven.

Perfect choice for the meat lover
Craftwood Inn specializes in wild game including Red Deer, Boar, Elk, and Kangaroo, just to name a few. The menu rotates depending on season and availability, but my all time favorite has been on the menu since my first visit - the Ostrich. I'm a steak and potatoes loving Iowa boy, and I have never had a steak that is so juicy, tender, and well seasoned. With all the fix-in's that come with the main course, I've never left the Craftwood Inn hungry - always my first choice for my birthday dinner, or whenever I'm looking for something a little different.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
this is one of my favorite
this is one of my favorite place to eat in Manitou Springs. Always a great time! The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and they make you feel very welcome.
The wild game is our main draw to dining here. We enjoy the multi-choices you can enjoy in 1 entre'.

the craftwood Inn
My husband and I have been here before, and we have NEVER been disapointed. The food is always amazing, the wait staff is friendly and very helpful in helping you choose the right wine for the entrée you picked. I would definetly recommend this resturaunt to a friend . We can't wait to return again !

If you are looking to try something new as a menu choice this is the place for you. They also have beautiful fireplace and it is very romantic. Service is superb!

Fancy funeral home with good food
Although nothing went wrong and the food was good, (fried quail wasn't all that exciting however), it seemed like we were in a fancy funeral home. The squeaky floors, the awkward silence in the back room with an older couple, the smoky smell from the waiter.. it just seemed weird. Had we been in one of the first rooms it may not have been this way, but the back room was definitely off. As I said, the food was good, the prices were high- but worth it, it was just the atmosphere that was off.

We have eaten there twice,
We have eaten there twice, first for our anniversary and then for my wife's birthday and both times we had five star service and dining. The staff took in to account my notes stating so and treated us like royalty. This has to be the best restaurant I've eaten at and would compare it to the 5 star restaurant service and food to our Vegas dining experience. Thanks.
10/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
We did the four course option. They did not have the Kangaroo steaks but substituted well with the Red Deer. I had the Pheasant and everything was wonderful and a great experience. I would recommend this for a special occasion or a romantic night out.

The food is great and so is the service. I highly recommend you try the Craftwood Inn.
It is so quiet in the dining room that it might make you self conscious when you are speaking. I would recommend they get a little more background noise going on somehow. Maybe some barking dogs or ambulance sirens...
The food is expensive (but worth it) so plan on dropping $100 for 2 people. If you want wine with your meal you will easily hit $150 or more (we had one app, 2 entrees, 1 dessert and a bottle of wine for $150).
Do try this place for a special meal, you wont regret it.

a great place to go for a special evening or just a change of pace. everyone is friendly, even when they were busy. food is very good with lots of options even the wild game selection was very good. didn't know what to expect with the octrich, but we were very pleased. food was cooked to perfection. will definately go back for more.

While our experience was unique,
While our experience was unique, impressive and overall superb, I'm not so sure we would return based mainly on the rather high prices for the food and drink provided. For example, $65 for a screw-on top bottle of German Reisling that is rated only Qualitswein vs. Qualitswein mit Pradikat.....and 3 small lamb chops for $36.....but only 2 normal bites for $12/chop. To be fair, however, flavor and tenderness were outstanding. Nice and exciting to visit once for the experience, but our return is questionable.

Just an all around wonderful place! Great food, awesome service and a romantic setting.
11/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
The food and service was everything we wanted. We joined another couple for their local "bucket list" dining experience and they were not disappointed. This was our 4th visit and we were not disappointed. The portions were generous and the quality was outstanding.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had a great location near the fireplace & the dim lights & soft music made for outstanding ambience. The waiter was very attentive but not hovering. We ordered drinks but shortly after I asked to change mine which the waiter did very willingly and promptly. We ordered the 4 course dinner with mushroom soup, strawberry sorbet, 2 filets and chocolate mousse. Everything was very good and the filets tender but we felt the medium & medium rare filets were slightly overcooked. There were only a few couples dining that evening & it started out very quiet & enjoyable but within 30 minutes the ambience was totally disrupted by a trio seated next to us who were very loud and obnoxious. Although a nice restaurant, that really ruined the occasion.

Really great place
loved the food, loved the atmosphere, the servers were great (friendly, but no overly so, efficient, knowledgeable)

Tasty classic needs sprucing
A foodie goes where the great food is. We had an excellent meal, classically prepared, executed and delicious. They are known for wild game and did not disappoint. I recommend the Craftwood wild grill that served a hearty portion of boar, elk and ostrich. My husband had the elk chops. We shared a lot. As it was our anniversary we were offered a complimentary glass of champagne. Nice touch. Though the young hostess was initially going to place us at a table next to the banquet room, she was accommodating to move us to the cozier fireplace room.
The service was impeccable as you'd expect in a great restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful in selection.
My disappointment came with the decor, it could use some sprucing up.

best in town
My wife and I have hit every fine dining restaurant I CS and craftwood is now perched on top. Price was same as Walters bistro(also excellent), with a more creative menu. Best dining experience in the springs.
