Really worth a visit.
We tried Sen because our office is n the neighborhood a d love their Sag Harbor outpost. This one is not a clone. It is a really spohisticated NYC restaurant. Their sushi is way above th ordinary. The atmosphere and design are really neat. Sort of zen meets industrial meets natural materials.

Best New Japanese Place in NYC!
This place is truly incredible! The food is thoughtfully prepared. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu. Every time I come the waiter or manager orders for the table and no one is every left unsatisfied.

I really love Sen and I'm
I really love Sen and I'm glad its come to NYC. It's a great place to grab a drink after work with a few small bites- love the edamame and the daikon salad. The wagyu beef croquettes are ahhh-mazing. The rice bowls are best shared among a few people but not really as a meal. And the sushi...heaven. Fresh and tasty

Still great but watch the ego
This was our 5th time, and the first time we weren't fussed over as a repeat customer, so I guess they feel they are thoroughly launched and established now. The food was ss reliably terrific as always. My only and first-time complaint, was that in contrast to other times, I felt that the waitress was in a big hurry for us to place an order and get out. She would bring food too quickly, so we deliberately placed our orders piecemeal, and made our lack of rush clear but still it would come out too simultaneously. OpenTable only showed reservations available for 6:45 (which we took) and after 9-9:30, but there were 10 tables open when we arrived, and almost as many still open at 8:15 (at very end, they stopped rushing us to leave).

5 Star Sushi
Fantastic! The food was delicious. The presentation was 5 star. Our waiter was knowledgable and very attentive and then the manager came over to make sure we were enjoying everything. I can't wait to go back!

Amazing flavors and attentive staff.
We love the Sag Harbor restaurant of the same name & tho' the menu is different, it is quite good.

I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Sen, eating at the bar, enjoying a few Sake Martinis! Definitely try the Shumai, the Vegetable Tempura, Hot Tuna, and the Curry Rice Pot.

Chic and delectable sushi!
Rare to find a restaurant with a chic Manhattan vibe, but with amazing sushi and varieties of sashimi not found at too many other restaurants in Manhattan.

Glad I went
Sen NYC is great addition to the New York dining scene. They have an excellent happy hour menu that includes food as well. The service is impeccable and I will definitely be back at some point.

I will go back as soon as possible
The sushi is excellent. The rolls are beyond the usual "fusion" combos you get elsewhere. The Geiko, Flatiron, and Crispy Snapper rolls were a-ma-zing. The Five Gold Curry rice pot was incredible. There was no sign of Hamptons attitude - it was very Sag Harbor, meaning welcoming, chill, and deservedly busy due to the excellence of food and service, not due to hipsters. It isn't inexpensive, but it was totally worth it, and I will go back as soon as possible.

Best Japanese Food Ever
I will first start off saying the ambiance of the restaurant is spectacular! Walking into the restaurant, their was an incredible host named William who was very attentive to me and my child, which doesn't happen very often in NYC. Our server who I don't recall his name but he was very delightful and was very attentive as well but not over baring, the food was amazing. I had the chicken on a stick and some amazing vegetarian sushi with some awesome green tea desert. For a very beautiful restaurant from the Hamptons, it was very affordable! I will be back. This is now my favorite Japanese restaurant on the east coast!!

Arrived at SEN NYC and was immediately greeted by Laura and Preston (Reservationists/Hostess); both of which were extremely
friendly and inviting. We immediately clicked and shortly thereafter, found myself being introduced to their manager Dennis, who I also found to be quite friendly.
Shortly after conversing, they quickly discovered that this was in fact my first time there and that I was due to have dinner with someone quite special. Dennis, having learned this, took me on a tour of the restaurant; which I found to be perfect for the intimate dinner I had in mind.
Having conveyed this to Dennis, he and his staff were extremely accommodating in making our experience, nothing short of fantastic! For this, I extend a sincere "Thank You"!

Great space and very good food, not just sushi. The meat skewers are delicious.

Modern and funky
Great, modern decor. Food was eclectic and very well presented. Fish was quite fresh.
The food and drinks are definitely on the pricey side, compared to more traditional sushi spots, but it's not outrageous.

The food at Sen is fantastic.
The food at Sen is fantastic. I like that they have a sushi chef who sticks to sushi and a kitchen chef handling the cooked stuff. A lot of what they offer you can't find at too many other places and that's one thing that makes it special. This is the 3rd time I've been and I can't wait to go back.

Food is all terrific. I especially love the daikon salad, the truffle butter shoyu rice pot, and the sushi is some of the best in the neighborhood.
The service at the table is always great. I've been here 5 times and the people managing the host stand always seem really confused and awkward.
Sit at the sushi bar to watch some amazing masters at work!

First experience - loved it
Really enjoyed our first experience at Sen NYC; really fresh sushi, and the best lychee martinis and beef negamaki we've had ANYWHERE

We love them in Sag Harbor and we love Sen in the city. The detail, service and food is always spot on and amazing. Sen is a go to staple for us and we are always rewarded with awesome service and some of the best Sushi and Japanese food in town.

Amazing sushi! Awesome service!
I chose Sen from among hundreds of other sushi restaurants in the city because we were only visiting for one evening and I had heard good things about it. The ambience is beautiful. The hostess was a sweetheart. The bartender was absolutely wonderful (giving us tastes of whatever we inquired about before we "committed" to a glass. the sushi was fresh, the rolls were original and varied. I am a vegan and had plenty of choices. The husband is not and literally fell in love with the fatty tuna. We had an early reservation so the restaurant was quiet. Everyone was super nice!

A Nice Surprise
My friend and I were itching for some good sushi and we were pleasantly surprised by the freshness of all the rolls and udon soup that we ordered and shared. The restaurant is very spacious and beautiful. Good for large parties or eating at the bar and watching the sushi chefs make the rolls right in front of you!
I'd definitely go back again.

Cooked food better than sushi
The appetizers (skewers) were excellent and so were the cooked rolls (scallop and sweet potato), but I expected much better sushi for the price. It wasn't bad, but not as fresh as I would have hoped.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Better than expected!
The restaurant was very modern and large. My date and I sat in the lounge area. It is darker and more comfortable. The sushi and sashimi menu was very large. Tried the salmon skin sushi rolls. It was my first time and it was tasty. The cooked food was the best. My favorite was the bite sized shrimp tempura! I was disappointed with the skewers. They were extremely small! You really couldn't share a skewer. There were many yummy cocktails to choose from. I had the mojito and my date ordered the lychee martini. I will definately come back to taste more small plates and try other cocktails. Service was very attentive. Probably because I went on a Monday night.

Each time we go to Sen, they never cease to amaze us. The food is incredible and innovative. Tora is beyond nice and helpful. The gyu negima skewers, shoyu truffle butter rice pot, and sushi are to die for! A must try restaurant for everyone.
