Absolutely my favorite
I absolutely love this place. Anytime I come to Portland, I go out of my way to make sure I make it here. For some tourists its Popeye's, for me it's SouthPark. The food is always amazing.

Food was incredible. Enjoyed
Food was incredible. Enjoyed fresh Halibut and Salmon perfectly cooked, fresh oysters, salad and an ice cream sundae. Well done!
We were on a tight schedule for a show and our waitress could not have been more accomodating.

We've been there many times,
We've been there many times, and it's always great. It's, in my opinion, the best example of Pacific NW cuisine in Portland, and where I suggest out-of-towners to go if they want a very nice meal that represents our city.

Location Location Location
Good food, but you're paying a little more than you would think. Best thing about this though is that it is across the street from the Arlene Schnitzer. So you pay a bit for the premium location, but it is well worth it. Reservations advised.

Good food, lousy coffee!
Great food but the lousiest, weakest coffee in town! Last two times there it wasn't hot and no one offered a refill!!! Not good in a town with coffee like Portland has....

Great fish in south Portland
We found the venue very noisy, but so what... you all know how that is with some eateries. What we hadn't expected was that the 16 +/- people at the 2 adjacent tables, who were part of a sales convention, very generously paid for our wine to placate us for their boisterousness!
The salads were very nice - mine was the beetroot - as were the mains, "Idaho sturgeon" for me (farmed, I assume, since they're endangered in the wild) and prosciutto-wrapped trout for my wife. The trout was fairly large, and the wrap was salty, but taken in small bites, the prosciutto did enhance the flavour.

good but spotty
Appetizers were good, especially the smoked trout. My pasta, spaghetti with seafood ok, pasta amatriciana excellent. Gelato absolutely tasteless, ferment brulee delicious. Some wine good, some mediocre.

Excellent service by everyone we came in contact with, especially Erica who served our large group. The food was good too!

Great lunch spot
Perfect for lunch, lite salads with quick and courteous service!

My wife and I have eaten here
My wife and I have eaten here multiple times, and always enjoy the food. This time we had an out-of-town visitor who was really blown away by the sturgeon form the fresh list.

A Treasure in Portland
Southpark is an energetic, hot spot to hit prior to another event.
Our service was efficient but not rushed.
Friendly and organized staff.
Wonderful wine/cocktail selections.
Our entire table was so happy with their selections -- don't miss the prosciutto wrapped trout!

We came for Portland Dining Month. Everything was just right: Food was well seasoned, interesting flavors, perfectly cooked. Good service, too. We sat outside, but the dining room is also very pretty. Thanks for a great evening.

Managing Outdoor Seating
When we arrived at the restaurant, on a warm evening, we checked in with the hostess and asked for a table outside. She said outside seating was on a first come first serve basis. She told us we could wait in the bar but no one would get us when an outside table opened up. So, we ended up standing on the sidewalk watching closely to see which tables were almost through. It was very awkward for us as well as for the other diners. We finally gave up and took a table inside. I would suggest that the restaurant keep a list for outside tables. Having people hovering over outside tables does not work, especially for a restaurant of this caliber. Our frustration with this issue was balanced out with excellent service and good food.

Fit to impress...
I had a visitor from Texas that asked to go to a seafood establishment for dinner. Her parents own a winery so I wanted to make sure we went somewhere with a nice wine list, Southpark did not disappoint. We had the sturgeon and the salmon (split plates) and both were wonderful. This was an important casual business dinner and due to my choice in restaurants it couldn't have gone better.

Great food. So-so atmosphere.
On the negative, we found the place to be pleasant but impersonal. Servers said the words they were supposed to say but without conviction or enthusiasm. Maybe it was because we were so early (6 PM or so, and the staff was not yet warmed up.)
On the plus side, the food was paced just right, which is always important to us. Bread was fabulous as we'd expect in Portland. Same for high quality ingredients. In general, the food was prepared and presented well. Delicious in other words. Still, not sure we'd go back.

Perfect Business Lunch
Southpark is the perfect lunch spot for a business meeting. Upscale service and professional, while not stressing the expense account. I recommend the Cafe Lunch as a great Go To -- comes with chocolate chip cookie, too.

Used to be my #1
... whenever family came to town or for date nights. They used to have this amazing butternut squash ravioli that was the only thing I would order, along with calamari to start and creme brulee to finish. However, the last time I had the dish, the ravioli was too hard, the amazing creamy sauce that usually accompanies it was extremely oily and lacked real flavor. I came back wanting to give them a second chance but they had taken it off the menu as it was a "seasonal entree" depending on the local vegetables etc. The replacement was a different type of pasta, a pork ravioli that I had on my most recent visit. It was ok but nothing to rave about. The service is great, their oysters are revered, calamari is good, and creme brulee is delicious.

Tasty food, Great atmosphere!
I've been to Southpark several times and it never disappoints. I almost always get the Seafood Stew, but opted for the fish special this time. It was a super moist Escolar (a hawaiin white fish) with a smoked garlic sauce and potato cake. Yum. The calamari appetizer was just as good. Huge portion and it also had leeks, red onion and crispy sage. Our waiter was so delightful we would've liked him to sit down and join us for lunch! Another great experience! Thank you!

reliably wonderful seafood
We dined at Southpark for the 4th time this year and again enjoyed it. This restaurant is one we take out of town guest to for great NW seafood. We had the local oysters (fresh, briny and delicious), gazpacho, crab fettucini. Everything was superb and we will definitely be back again.

not up to its own standards
We eat at Southpark frequently and this was the first time my husband's fish was really overcooked! He had Tonnano and it should have been moist but was dry and very disappointing. Also, and less important, Southpark has been serving the same bread for way too long. They provide an excellent olive oil from Beneserre but their bread does not do it justice.
Next time we'll stick with the bar and have pizza!

convenient to Schnitz
Our favorite before concert dinner spot. Always satisfying.

Happy hour heaven
Had to find a place before a movie close by and found this restaurant had a really good deal for happy hour. We ordered these huge burgers and salads. Absolutely delicious, fast, and very frugal. They have fresh fish and great micro beers too.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
As usual, a great and varied menu selections and specials, interesting and large wine list, and excellent service. Southpark never disappoints, and my dinner, a special that day, was superb. All of this is pleasant surroundings where the noise level and comfort respect diners who seek an inviting atmosphere that is very difficult to find in most newer restaurants!

Super Pinot Noir
The best bottle of Pinot Noir in recent memory. Wow.
2010 Eyrie. Trout was fantastic, would suggest a different accompaniment.
Potato & beans were very ordinary & also arrived lukewarm, which ought not to happen at such a topnotch establishment.
Sad to see the Crostada not on dessert menu, as it is an all time favorite.
Service was beautiful, enjoyed French musical theme / don't recall this from prior visits.
Southpark remains a lovely and classic choice for us!!

Thank you South Park
Lovely evening at Southpark. Overall it was a very nice experience. I had really high expectations for the venue and wasn't disappointed. My date had the fish entree: Halibut. The portion was reasonable, the presentation was lovely. The sides were just o.k. I had the tuna appetizer & beet salad for my entree and it was delicious and more than enough.
The space did seem a little crowded. Next time, I'm going to remember to request a booth. It's a busy place but that's what one would expect from a restaurant full of yumminess.

Dining Before Literacy
I have eaten at Southpark prior to the Portland Arts & Lecture Series for many years. The welcoming & vibrant staff work efficiently to accommodate an always full house on A&L night, ensuring that service results in no one missing the opening remarks at the Schnitz. The wine is luxurious & the wait staff well versed in matching a wine to a diner's described preferences. My wait person brought out tastes of 3 different wines she thought I might enjoy without me asking. Dinner was fresh fish custom cooked .The dessert was plentiful enough for a selfish chocoholic to share. Cost of entree, wine, & dessert plus a 20% tip:$45. One can easily order appetizers to equal a meal at a much lesser price. Can't wait til next month's meal for A&L night.

The wine list was a bit limited
The wine list was a bit limited and it is a relatively small restaurant with many close tables but the food, wait staff, drinks and ambiance are excellent. It is not a cheap restaurant. Expect to spend around $100. for dinner and drinks but worth it for a special occasion.

Dine before concert
A great place to dine before a show at the Schnitz, the service was fast, efficient and attentive.

Great first time!
Determined to explore Portland while in town for business, I had my heart set on Southpark since it was near where I was staying and their menu offered plenty to choose from. Eating out by yourself is always tricky, but Southpark handled my reservation for 1 without any issues. The waitstaff treated me like royalty. For an appetizer I had Ahi Tartare, which was delicious. For the main course I ordered the Prosciutto Wrapped Trout. It was delicious in itself but was the fried artichoke that accompanied it was out of this world -- only wish there was more on the plate. I order the house white which matched the meal perfectly. For dessert I treated myself to the Chocolate Bonet.
I look forward to going back again soon. Brava!

Located near the Portland Art Museum and Portland History Museum on the park blocks, Southpark Seafood Grill is an upscale restaurant serving tasty seafood with local organic ingredients. Great food, great service, great location … it has it all!

Before a Saturday Evening Symphony concert, enjoyed dinner. Be sure to allow adequate time for salad or appetizer, and desert. Great meal, had the Ravioli with smoked pork, and my wife had the seafood stew. We like their gelato for desert, Saturday's cinnamon brittle was especially nice. Will be there again soon.

A Portland Favorite
Try to get here whenever I am in town. Live in Manhattan.
Bloody Mary is a near-perfect concoction. If resto insist upon screwing it up with beet juice, go ahead. But, don't refuse to make a correct version. Hieght of mixology convention pretension. Bottom line, I could not get a bloody mary in this huge bar restaurant.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
The vegetarian thoroughly
The vegetarian thoroughly enjoyed the light and delicious beet salad. The other diners raved about the consistently excellent tuna salad sandwich. We all shared the large, fresh-baked, chocolate chip cookies, so soft and chewy on the inside with a gentle crispy exterior.

Southpark is a hit!
Having never been to Portland, and having a very short time to spend there, we booked a reservation going on recommendations from a friend, reading reveiws on yelp and opentable, and gut intuition.
We were so happy with Southpark! We started with a drink at the bar, and then to our table. We were having the dread early dinner because we were off to see a show, and our timing was perfect. We enjoyed beautiful crab cakes, seafood stew, & halibut accompanied by a savory bread pudding and collard greens.
Wait staff was professional, knowleadgeable, and friendly, without becoming too familar. Perfect dinner!

This is a restaurant that is consistently great in every way; food, service, ambiance always excellent. I had the Grilled Steelhead yesterday for lunch, and it was absolutely delicious and served with fresh, local vegetables that were exactly right for the fish. What a treat! The wine was excellent, too. Many new restaurants come and go…but Southpark remains one of Portland's finest.

Some wins, some losses
I chose SP for its proximity to an event. There were some high points and some low points to my dining experience there.
It was the best calamari I have ever had, light, delicate and not oily so they get megapoints for that. The ?carrot? soup however was not good at all--a greenish-beige, and did not remotely taste like carrots. We spent some time wondering what vegetable it actually was made of. I am surprised they let that dish out of the kitchen looking like that. I had to ask for our bread, halfway through our meal. The waitress, however, did come through in the end by not charging us for the soup. with sweet apologies. That was definitely the appropriate response. And we ended the meal with the sundae, which was very satisfying.

Great menu choices. Everything we had was freshly made and properly prepared. Excellent staff.

I always feel good at South Park. Everybody treats you like they care. The food is outstanding and the service is better. They have 5 different kinds of Cod to choose from! I'd told them that it was my wife's birthday and they provided a wonderful desert for the occasion!
