no place like home
In Indy for a 3 day conference - after reception "meals" I was determined to find a local place for a good meal. I landed at Iaria's at about 8:30 on a Saturday evening - it was packed with couples, families, a retirement party and a great bar (separate room) - I sat at the only remaining seat at the bar to wait for my table in the dining room, was introduced to Dom by a guy from Jersey City (his first visit) -- in a matter of a few minutes Tarp and I had figured out that we both knew a NFL coach - Tarp was a fraternity brother of his and I was headed to a wedding of his god daughter. BTW my eggplant parmesan was excellent as the Cesar salad - and had to end with a cannoli - asl recommend Barbera wine - have fun

Wife and I went back for our
Wife and I went back for our anniversary after having our first date there. We arrived a bit early, but they got us a table within minutes. The food was delicious. Recipes straight from old world Italy. Each entree was enough for two meals. Our server was just the right amount of attentive. Overall and very enjoyable experience.

Down home Indy
Great little off the beaten path casual restaurant! Food and service were excellent!

A friend recommended that I try their Chicken Marsala if I ate there so I did. And I am very glad I did their Chicken Marsala is probably the best I have ever had, esp. in Indianapolis. The meal is reasonably priced. Only thing I found that would bring the meal rating down was the sauce on the side pasta was just plan tomato sauce; a few herbs would make it a much better sauce. Not many herbs but enough to kick it up a notch and not take away from the Chicken.

dinner with a colleague
Iaria's is simply fresh, great tasting Italian cuisine. The stuffed 3 cheese tortellini with italian sausage topped off with a creamy tomato sauce was to die for.
The ambience of a restaurant from yesteryear 50's-60's adds to the nostalgia of this long-standing Indy favorite. Leaving hungry will not be an issue.

Food was excellent. Service was better. We had a great Anniversary dinner

First time there. Very impressed.
This restaurant was very appealing. Food was excellent and service was stellar.

Excellent Dining Experience
Iaria's has been open for 100 years - and when you eat there you will know why. The food is amazing and you can't let the leftovers sit too long in the fridge because you can't wait to eat more. The portions are large and the dining experience progresses through the courses at a relaxed pace. It's a place to experience a meal.

Evening out with friends
We meet our friends at Iria's for an evening out. I had made reservations, so we did not have a wait time. I would suggest making reservations. Our wait staff was very good, we were served water right away. Our food was very good, I had the eggplant parmesan which I enjoyed. We asked for more bread and our waitress brought us the "specail olive dipping oil". I now know to ask for the "special olive oil". We had a very pleasant evening and we will be coming back.

Great authentic Italian food!
Great authentic Italian food! The best I've had in Indiana.

Veal was great
I had the veal Picata. It was very tender and tasty. The spaghetti sauce was outstanding. Service was slow but friendly and the waitress dropped one of our party's food on the floor and she had to wait for her food.

What a find!
Family oriented, great food, really friendly service. True spaghetti and meatballs

Great family-owned gem
The food was delicious. The Italian sausage and lasagna were very delicious. We also enjoyed the shrimp cocktail.

One of our favorites!
My boyfriend and I started coming here when we first started dating. It has become a favorite of ours! This time out we had the fried ravioli as an appetizer which was incredible. Then he ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo. This was a very generous portion! Could be split if you choose to do that. I opted for the lasagna. I only ordered the ala carte item instead if the dinner (includes soup and salad). It was a large piece of lasagna, but the sauce used was so flavorful! All in all, it was a great dinner!
7/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great girls night out!
Our wonderful friend Mary Berry has been having health issues and a neighbor and I brought her here because she loves eating at your establishment. As always food great and she loves all the employees. Dinner was as expected quite tasty! I made our reservations online an it was very simple.

The soup and salad were your everyday, run-of-the-mill appetizers, but the entrees were great! Authentic Italian with large portion sizes for an affordable price!

Reminds me of the old neighborhood back in Chicago.

100 year old restaurant ! Awesome lasagna and meatballs! Don't miss this old favorite.

Good American Style Italian
I enjoyed my meal. This is an American style Italian food place, with a diner feel. Our service was excellent and the food was good. If you are in the mood for some hearty Italian food and want to avoid the local chains, it is a great place to go.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
wonderful dining experience!
For Girls' Night out our group of 8 enjoyed our Devour Downtown evening at Iaria's. The Devour Downtown menu allowed us to sample several dishes from the menu....all were delicious. Our server was very personable and attentive. Everyone in our group enjoyed our dining outing at Iaria's.

Iaria's is the place to go for Italian food in Indy!
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Mangia bene, vivi felice!
My family and I traveled to Indy from New York (where there's a couple pretty good italian restaurants).
Kids loved their pizza and my wife and I had the Family Style dinner for 2 and was phenominal! The Eggplant Parmesan was perfectly done and the Cheese Tortellini was a favorite. Could have used a little more Fettucini and Tortellini from a portion standpoint, but the side of homemade meatballs and sausage was a perfect accompaniment to everything. Then of course, the cannolli...Pretty good as well...could use a little more ricotta and amaretto in the filling but that's just my opinion. :)
Overall, very happy a local person turned us off of Old Spagetti Factory where we were planing on going, and recommended Iaria's...Salute Iaria's!

old school Italian. Family
old school Italian. Family restaurant. wonderful pasta dishes. Loud, and busy.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Iaria's is an old school gem!
This restaurant has been serving authentic Italian fair for a Century! The sauces are unique and truly wonderful. Try the Antipasto salad! Sounds simple, but Iarias takes it to another level. In the mood for something simple? Iarias pizza is thin, crunchy and loaded with toppings! In the mood for traditional pasta and sauce? Iarias sauce is an old family recipe and is sreallywonderful. Sweet and thick. Spaghetti's best friend!
This place can get busy, but the waitstaff is always friendly and accomodating. Iarias is more like Sunday afternoon at Nonna's than going out to eat.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice place to eat
Food was goox but not outstanding. Dining area was dim due to only two ceiling lights and sun shining through windows being thd only light sources. Noisy due to rude people (not restaurants fault). I would recommend to friends. Do not let the outside appearance discourage you
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
As always, we had a wonderful time with family celebrating a wedding anniversary. Food is fabulous.
9/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Solid food; great experience!!
This restaurant has been in business for 100 years for a reason. Great food, solid service, and a down-home feeling. We went on a Saturday night, and our party of 8 had a great time! Definitely recommend. Reasonable costs too!
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Italian Food!
Had dinner at this restaurant and the service/food was great. Ordered some Penne and it was delicious! I was also very pleased with the drinks I ordered...the bartenders here know how to make vintage cocktails. The restaurant can get very busy around 7 PM, so be sure to make reservations...the place was really filling up as my party was leaving. The noise level can be a little high in this restaurant, so it may not be the best for a quiet, romantic dinner. Overall, I would definitely recommend this for a business dinner, or just a general dining out spot for great Italian food or if you want some vintage cocktails.

Old Time Favorite
The original Iaria family were friends with my grandparents, so we've dined there many times and love the way they have kept the atmosphere friendly, and welcoming. It hasn't changed much over the years and that is why people keep coming back.
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
We plan to go back
It has an interesting 40s-50s feel and the food was tasty. Service was fine. We sat outside because of the nice weather, but I look forward to sitting inside sometime to examine the memorabilia.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Best Italian Downtown
Coming from an Italian family I can say this food is fantastic, service is great. The bartender Dominick is out of this world top of the line. Love the old school restaurant....makes me think of the good ole days. Warm, satisfying and you never know who you might see in the restaurant.
9/26/2013 5:00:00 PM
The seafood pasta, egg plant Parmesan and spaghetti with meatballs were terrific. Great minestrone soup and flavorful salad dressings. Cannoli and Tiramisu excellent

Authentic American Italian
Great red sauce joint, you will think you are back in NY. Hot Italian sausage to rival Nonna's. I would have never guessed that you could find homestyle Italian food this good in the midwest. Don't miss this very special place if you are in Indy.
10/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
One of Indy's fun "hidden gems"
When you pull up to the building (the back part of which is a long-closed bowling alley), you are thinking "no way is this a "special" place. But when you walk inside, you step into another world. The walls are covered with pictures of the Iaria family dating back to early last century, and from there they make you feel like you are part of THEIR family. Service? Friendly without being overly familiar. The food? Authentic Italian. It's a great place to reserve a table for a crowd, celebrate a special occasion, or just go for lunch. We only get over to the area about once a year as we live on the northwest side of Indy in Hendricks County, but this is the place I pick for birthday and anniversary celebrations. a hidden treasaure.

Always a Delight!
Iaria's is second to none when it comes to authentic, Old Country Italian dishes. This family owned / operated restaurant has a wonderful selection of family recipes - including pizza! (The Fettucini and Clams is my personal favorite!) Their housemade salad dressings are unmatched. Servings are generous enough to share or take home for a happy reminder the next day. Every dish is authentic, consistent and positively DELICIOUS! Because of it's beautiful, yet limited space, I would recommend making reservations (for either the dining room or bar) to ensure you get a table without waiting. You will find the staff is friendly and waiting to make you feel right at home!
10/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great place to eat providing outstanding food and drink along with a very romantic atmosphere. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a restaurant to impress a special someone.
10/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Definitely worth going off the beat
Went here from a recommendation from someone who has spent a lot of time in downtown Indy. Restaurant has a lot of charm. Family owned and operated since 1913. While it is friendly and unassuming, the food and the staff are great. Food is homemade tons of flavor and keep you wanting more. You won't though, because portions are more than adequate for even the biggest appetites!!! We had Alle for a server and she was great. Fun, knew what to recommend and walk a couple of "rookies" through the menu. This is one of the best neighborhood, family run Italian restaurants I have been in. Who would have thought it would be in Indy and not Chicago, New York, etc. A must if you are looking for great food at good prices.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
We visit two times a year
We visit two times a year as we travel to Indy for a trade show and end up going to the restaurant at least 2 times a trip. Great old Italian atmosphere, food is tasty and well prepared. Excellent Italian food which is easy on the wallet.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
I can't believe that we never knew this place was here! The food is amazing, service was beyond great, and they had a large selection of wine available. If you're looking for class, continue to downtown. If you're looking for amazing food (at very affordable prices) and a quiet cozy place for dinner - this is it.
This is definitely our new go-to place. :)

Fall Break with the Family
We had reservations but ran late getting there, but there was no problem being seated immediately.
Our waitress (Nikki) was knowledgeable, polite & friendly.
The mozzarella appetizer was excellent...especially the dipping sauce. Our salads were well made & plentiful.
My daughter's lasagna was good but needed more mozzarella in the dish itself...she added parmesan from the table shaker.
My wife enjoyed her capellini spaghetti & meatballs. My chicken parmesan had good flavor & portion size, but the chicken was overcooked. We will return again to try other menu items.

I was given a gift certificate and a great recommendation for Irias. What a great suggestion my friend made! It was my girlfriend and I's 2 year anniversary and we made a last minute reservation on Halloween. The Staff was friendly, the wine was affordable (half price wine night) the food was above average but not too gaudy and over plated. Its real Italian, made im bulk it seems, as to feed a family with great taste. After dinner the desert and coffee was comped by the manager. How sweet!

Typical great Iaria's experience
We have dined at Iaria's numerous times and are rarely disappointed with the food and service, and this was no exception. Quick, friendly service and scrumptious food served in good-sized proportions. Be sure to make a reservation on OpenTable because they fill up fast.

My friend and I enjoyed our lunch at Iaria's. I had the soup/salad dish, and the soup was a tomato based with artichokes which was delicious and unique.

Had dinner at Iaria's for a second time. Service and food/drinks was just as good as the first time. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting good Italian food. The portions are more than adequate and the price is reasonable.

Our Favorite Place for Italian
We found Iarias 15 years ago and have loved it ever since. It is now a favorite for our visiting relatives and friends as well. Most of our special occasions are here.
