What a fun place to eat! Similar to barbeque places in Japan...great clean decor, excellent service, and the Kobe style kalbi is to die for!

Great! Similar to the NYC !!
Great addition to Brookline - great food - and awesome ambiance.. great for groups and to share and chat while grilling your own food over some cold sake/beer.

The service was good, but I thought a bit slow. As you grill your own food at the table, I felt the raw ingredients could have been to the table quicker, and at the same time.

Love food here
Food : awesom!!!! I love a happy hour!!!!!!! I love all the food here :)

I have to ask her about my food to many times and she look confuse. but i dont care i just want to enjoy with my friend.

Would come back again!
Service was excellent! Can't be more happy! Went there in a group of 4 and it was our first time trying out the restaurant. We ordered rice and noodle dishes and all of us wanted to try them. Serving staffs splited each of those for us in a very professional manner.
BBQ meat were great! I don't usually eat lamp but the lamp chop was remarkable!!
Didn't get a chance to try out dessert but won't miss them next time!

Foods are little bit salty
Everything in Gyu-Kaku was good especially the services. But foods are a bit salty.

Two of my co-workers recommended
Two of my co-workers recommended Gyu-kaku to me since they considered it to be an authentic Japanese restaurant. I am glad I went. Both my friend and I really enjoyed the food, and are planning to go again!

Great Japanese BBQ near Kenmore
Gyu-Kaku is a very authentic Japanese BBQ restaurant. They offer combo for 2, 4 and 6 people with meat, seafood and veggie for grill. My friend from California liked the food and he was surprised to have such a good Japanese dinner in Boston. The service was good and timely. The waitress even divided the salad for us. Believe or not, all servers, whether Japanese or American, speak Japanese when they greet the diners.

Something new in town
This is a great to have in the community. It brings lots of fun making BBQ yourself. Although the fun part is interesting, the BBQ focus a lot on the meats. Beef is the major material served on your table. I am a beef lover. Of course I won't miss this!

GyuI Kaku is Awesome. The wait staff were fast and helpful without being overbearing. There were 3 in our party and we all had some form of steak. Because the meat is already cut to edible sizes, we could share and cook it exactly how we liked it. If you like spicy tuna, the spicy tuna crunch appetizer was amazing and could've been a meal by itself. You get 3 pieces so it was perfect for us. The veggies are wrapped in alum foil so you can cook them as long as you like. 3 min each side seemed to work. Asparagus was good, but the mushrooms were off the chain. They also serve Kirin beer by the pitcher, which was a savings for us. We didn't know it, but at 9:30pm, happy hour starts again, but by then we had consumed plenty.

Cheaper than expected
The lunch combo is way cheaper than expexted. The beef is delicious and juicy!

Great for Groups
went here for a Birthday party for 6. Great for sharing and having a good time. A little pricy though!

The meat were grate and I think it was almost same as Japan. Awesome!!

So happy to see Gyu-Kaku in Boston! This place is the best. The happy hour food specials cannot be beat - order one of everything!

Hosted a birthday dinner during the weekend with my girlfriends and we all throughly enjoyed ourselves! Our server was great and our food was amazing! Grilling at your table was fun and portions are very generous. I would definitely eat there again!!!

Excellent food and staff!
I'm a big fan of Gyu-kaku, so no doubt I was excited to know one opened in Boston! The meat is really good, maybe even better than the ones I've had in Japan. The place was super vibrant and energetic, and the staff was excellent. She was very helpful and fun to talk to, so our overall experience was superb. If you're looking for a restaurant in Boston that serves Japanese Shochu, this is the place!

This was my third visit to Gyu-Kaku Boston and I must say it only gets better and better. The service is exceptional and the food is ridiculously good. I have gotten several different steaks, all of which have been delicious. The chocolate lava cake is to die for and this is definitely a place I will be coming to again in the near future.

We really enjoyed dinner at this restaurant -- very fun ambiance and the food was good. Will do it again on special occasions.
9/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
The portions are a bit too small, but overall the food was great! The Grean Tea Crepe Cake was the best dessert on the menu.

Nice family dinner
We took our son, his wife and their 8 -year-old son. We bought two fo the "dinners for two" and had food left over. It is fun to cook your own food; our grandson especially liked doing that! So our group of 5 had food left over and everyone found delicious things to eat. The service is top-notch.

Excellent replacement for Ginza!
Ginza used to be fantastic but went downhill the last few years. This place is a welcome replacement. Excellent marinated meat and you hvae the glorious option of a la carte (which can be overwhelming) or one of the predecided setups, which are only $55 or $65 total for two people. The latter include apps, entrees and dessert. And the food is quite good. Only issue I had was that the waitstaff didn't abide by how slow we were eating, so they could have brought food to us at a slower pace.
Really great for dates as it's interactive, semi-private and also not too loud.

Delicious and enjoyable experince
I went for lunch and everything was enjoyable. I appreciated the simplicity of the menu and reasonable prices for quality food. Lunch tiime was packed with customers but a simple reservation would get you a seat right away. The service was speedy and welcoming. I felt comfortable in the environment and the food was a plus.

Green tea crepe
We mainly went to this restaurant for their famous green tea crepe
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food is delicious, the service is good. And the location is very convenience, which is near Green line St Mary's station .

Great food, never disappoints!
I frequently go here, and my experience has always been pleasant. Will keep coming back!
11/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great Ambience, slightly expensive
Gyu-Kaku has many isolated space that is very private and quite. Friends or lovers can enjoy their time talking and eating as if eating at home. The amount for each dish is not as much as we thought though, so we cost around $50 for two people.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great for meat lovers
This place is great for meat lovers. Great selection of meats, and some seafood. A nice selection of vegetables, and rice, too, but the apps aren't anything special. The service can be a little slow at times, but that's not keeping me from being a repeat customer.
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
I had a good time!
We had meal at Gyu-Kaku Hawaii before and so delighted to have them here in Boston! Service is great! Food was as good as I have remembered! Not just the meat was great, but the side dishes were awesome too! I also like how the manager tells us how long the meat should be cooked on the grill. Overall, we had a great time there! Will totally go back! Oh! We didn't smell bad after the meal too : )

Great food and a fun time
I went with my family for my sister's birthday and we had a great time. It was my first time and I thought it was cool to cook you're own food like hotpot. The food was super delicious, especially the kalbi short ribs. Dessert was delicious, must try the green tea crepe cake! We had great service, was interesting to see the server change the grilling plate and oiling it. A great find, I definitely recommend people to give it a try.

This is my first time here, and I enjoyed it very much. It was a great experience. Our waiter went over the entire menu for us and was very nice and attentive. The food was great. I would definitely come back again
