We went to Nora for my birthday
We went to Nora for my birthday recently and it was wonderful! The patio outside, our waitress, the amazing food and then getting to meet the family who owns the restaurant and Nora was all perfect! It is truly a neighborhood gem and a foodie destination. We will be back soon for dinner and the brunch sounds amazing too.

This was my first time at
This was my first time at the restaurant and my goup and I loved it! Our waiter made some suggestions on what he considered to be their signature dishes and he was absolutely correct. My friends and I tried all the different plates and we were all very impressed. The location is awesome -very trendy neighborhood/section of Lower Greenville. The prices are good, most entrees are less than $20.00 and the portions are good sized. Several of my friends took home leftovers but I ate every bite! The wine selection had a lot of different varieties/regions and we enjoyed the Turkish red that we ordered (the waiter was kind enough to let us sample). We also drank their signature martini and it was wonderful/not too sweet. Can't wait to go back!

Why isn't this place packed?
We've been going to Nora since its opening. The food is consistently excellent, the service is unmatched, and the location close to Lakewood is perfect. I would list the items we've had that we enjoyed, but that would almost be the entire menu. We've taken large groups, to just ourselves and the service and food never waiver. I really hope that Nora hangs on until people can experience this great place on lower Greenville Ave

Worth a try.
The food at Nora is always interesting. It's a nice place to go if you want something different. The expanded restaurant and terrace is a good sign that we aren't the only ones that keep this spot on our short list of places to go when we want a quick night out. Reasonably priced, good food, nothing too fancy ... who could ask for more?

Fresh, Healthy, Fantastic
This family owned resturant takes great pride in the food, service and overall satisfaction of its diners. The Kabobs and hummas are delicious with generous portions , small plate appetizers perfect to share. Must try the garlic shrimp, hummas and baklava. Wine is inexpensive compared to other resturants. It is quiet before 8pm and has seating inside and out. We prefer to eat inside. Enjoy!

We chose Nora to celebrate our son's recent engagement with his future in-laws and family, a group of 9. I met with Mat, the owner/chef in advance to work out some details. Upon arrival, the table was ready with selected wine. Mat had suggested we begin with a sampling of salad and appetizers of his choosing. This worked out beautifully, enabling guests to eat upon arrival, relax and talk to one another. Guests ordered entrees from the menu and all were outstanding, as usual. Mat also selected a sampling of deserts to share, an added benefit I noted when the check came. The service was attentive. The atmosphere, comfortable yet elegant. We are so pleased that Mat chose Lakewood for this delightful culinary gem! Thank you.

Excellent local Afghan cuisine
I have been to Nora several times, and it is just wonderful. Start your evening off with a specialty cocktail (you can't miss. They're all excellent) and get anything from the appetizers menu. My wife swears by the dolmas. For the main event, I like the kabobs or the vegetable plate. However, if you really want a treat, order the Qabili Palao. Your choice of lamb or chicken (get the lamb) marinated and slow cooked until it's SUPER tender, covered In a bed of basmati saffron rice and accented with plump, juicy little raisins and plenty of cilantro. Amazing! For Dessert, try the Baklava or the rose and cardamom ice cream. You can thank me later.

Unique, delicious flavors
I've been to Nora twice now and love it. The restaurant is cute and low-key, like the neighborhood restaurant you always want in your area. The food is unique and delicious. The pumpkin with meat sauce is really tasty as is the lamb korma. There are some dishes that I would think of as more Mediterranean than Afghan, like baklava, and some that are definitely Americanized, like the Kabul mule drink. Definitely worth trying out if you're adventurous or have a love for Mediterranean food.

Ethnic Food Find
Nora had an excellent menu - I found it easy to navigate (despite how unfamiliar I am with this type of ethnic food). They had great options for vegetarians, gluten-free, or any regular meat-lover. They used some great spices which gave the food lovely flavor but wasn't overpowering or super "hot spicy". The meats and veggies alike were tender and cooked perfectly. The wait staff was friendly and helpful but could have had a more confident presence. Also, the bussers / water pourers didn't speak a word of English which wouldn't usually be a problem but we had a couple instances when it would have been nice if they'd understood us. Overall we had a great experience and I would love to go back. The food is unique and tasty!!

Nora's-Top Notch Find
This was not the first time I dined at Nora's. It has been fabulous every single time I've been there. Two different friends from two different social circles recommended it to me in the same week, so I decided to try it. I'm glad I did. It is different. There's food for the carnivore and vegetarian, which is a must for me. I took a business associate from out of town to Nora's for dinner, and she loved it. I've taken my fiancé, and he loved it. I took my oldest daughter, and she loved it. Give them a try, but not on a Monday. I believe they are closed. (Also, we were running late for our reservation, which is not required, and they were very accommodating.) Cheers!

Wonderful and interesting food in a great setting. Warm and friendly service. I always feel that they are genuinely happy to see me here. And in many visits, I have yet to have a disappointing dish or cocktail.

I had somewhat low expectations when I made the reservation. When my wife and I walked in to Nora, we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is beautiful. The service was fantastic, and the food is incredible. If you like ethnic food, you need to try Nora. The portions are substantial, so be careful about ordering too much food.

Don't let Afghani food scare you. The dishes have universal appeal, being savory and flavorful, with beef, lamp, chicken and vegetarian options. Creative and carefully exectuted treats abound, with helpful servers and explanations of myriad and wonderful fare, and eclectic wines selected to complement each course, as well as specialty cocktails. A must on your restaurant rotation.

Note for Nora
Absolutely love the food at Nora. Every dish is so flavorful. And the cocktials aren't bad either! Try the Nora 75...yummm

Modern Afghan Dining
Afghan food isn't as widely known as Indian food, but Nora makes me want to learn more about this underrated cuisine. Instead of large, unwieldy plates of curries or stews, we were served refined, well-plated dishes that would have fit into a small plates or tapas restaurant. The potato bolanee, crisp triangles of pastry with a yogurt-herb sauce on the side, were so good that the 3 of us flagged down our waitress so we could try the leek version as well. The appetizer portion of mantoo is a serving of 3 beef dumplings in a yogurt-paprika-pomegranate sauce that had us scraping our plates (because licking the plate is rude). By the time the the grilled lamb chops arrived, we gave up any pretense of manners and just gnawed on the bones.

always a favorite
Once again Nora delivers. This place is one of our favorites and has the best vegetarian menu in Dallas.

One of the best meals in Dallas
Folks... I almost never write a review, but I am defintiely a foodie in Dallas and have had a meal at almost every top restaurant in Dallas and I can say without a doubt that this is right up there with any of the best places in Dallas.
My wife had the chicken with yogurt sauce (over warm pita bread), and it was AMAZING. I had the lamb and rice dish with carrots (don't remember the name...) but it was also stellar.
This is a gem of a restaurant that will get a lot of praise at some point, because it deserves it. I hope it becomes significantly busier so that we can ensure that the place survives, because food this good is a rarity in Dallas.

Came here to celebrate a birthday. Food and service were good. I especially enjoyed the hummus and bread with chutney. We ate outdoors to enjoy the mild evening weather, only to have it dampered by a smoker at the next table (closest to the restaurant door). Doesn't that violate the smoking ordinance? That put a damper on the whole experience.

I went to Nora to celebrate by Birthday. I received complimentary champagne and dessert. The food, as always, was wonderful.
I love the Lamb Korma.

Just a perfect hit...
I heard about Nora's through word of mouth from a few friends. They gave it great food reviews. Teh atmosphere is nice, not crazy loud, the owner is charming but the food was the best. There are new flavors, light options, all tasted great. The experience of tasting something quite new and also fantastic is unusual and memorable. We went with a group of friends, ate family style and left full and happy.

Dinner with friends
I love this restaurant. It was a great location for a Friday night evening with friends. We could not stop stealing food from each other's plates. Everything we ordered was delicious! Good think I was there with a group of 7 people - I tried a lot of yummy food.

Great Food and Service. An everyday Saturday night, elevated to a special Saturday night. Lamb Chops were divine !!!!!

Great Night Out!
This is our third time visiting Nora. We have been twice with friends, and Nora is a great place to enjoy very good food and wine with fun friends. Nora is a little to noisy for a "Special Occasion" (I'm interpreting romantic) night out, and I think I would have been disappointed with the noise level if it was just myself and my husband trying to talk over the table next to us, but for a very, very good place to eat with friends, I choose this place over any other in my neighborhood. I love their food. And after dinner we strolled up some stairs and ended up at a lovely patio area. I would highly recommend this place for a great dining experience.

All around a good food night
I went with two friends who are not the most adventurous and they loved it. We got the Beef Sambrosa and Hummus to start; both were great...more bread with the hummus would have been nice. For entrees we all shared the Lamb Stew and Shrimp on The Grill. The shrimp was perfectly prepared and the saffron rice was delish. The Lamb Stew was super rich and flavorful and excellent white basmati rice. Both dishes filled us right up with the perfect amount. I also started with the Marrakesh Hot Toddy...excellent!

New but wonderful
My husband is from Algeria so we always look for middle eastern food. We thought it was middle eastern food but it was food from Afghanistan! If you like rice you're already going to like the food. I don't but the food was great! I had a combination Kabob with steak, shrimp (incredible) and a spicy hamburger type kabob. Very good. The lamb shank was unbelievable, no knife needed. We ended with dessert that was small baklava and ice cream with pistachios. All and all it was an enjoyable evening.
