Cute little restaurant with
Cute little restaurant with a lot of deliciousness to offer! Try the miso infused Foie gras, scrambled eggs, pork buns, and uni Fettucini! The words used during dinner were: heavenly, divine, ahhhhhmazing! We also ordered the black Taglioni which was good, but my least favorite of all. However, everything else hit the spot! I need to go back SOON!

Unusually surprised, in a good way
Restaurant is small and cramped - the only downside to Dieci is that it's so tight, I felt I could hear the conversation of the women to my right. Food was outstanding. I've had pork buns in many different restaurants, and these were delicious. So fatty! The miso marinated foie gras was delicious. I could have eaten it all day. Service is prompt and attentive without being intrusive. Pasta's were also good. Looking to back for my next visit.

the food was excellent. loved
the food was excellent. loved the lamb bolognese, the fluke sashimi and the asparagus dish with duck bacon and poached egg. all had very interesting and subtle combinations of flavors
the roasted duck breast was the least imaginative but it still tasted pretty good.

Delicious Japanese/Italian fusion.
A friend recently told me Dieci was one of their favorites in the East Village, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I later read some reviews on Yelp, but for some reason was still skeptical. Then, on my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised!. The fusion was creative and unique, like nothing I've previously tasted. Great! I couldn't believe I had walked past this tiny spot many times without unknowingly. I will definitely return.

Dark setting, the food is high class. Fit for couples to go and have a nice fancy dinner. Not too expensive and still fairly casual.

Great hidden spot
You could easily walk by this restaurant and miss it. The ambiance is cozy and intimate. The food is almost tapas-like, smaller well-made portions.

The food was very good, but
The food was very good, but disappointed that they didn't have two of the pastas on the menu.

Such an intimate spot that you could easily walk by without even noticing it - which makes it that much more charming. The scrambled egg with uni and caviar was one of my favorite dishes of the year, as was the foie gras chawanmushi. Loved my fettucine with uni and calamari, and the wine and service were fabulous.

For something completely different
Great food, good mix of Japanese and Italian influences and an extremely helpful staff in a very natural way. If you want to treat your love to something special instead of the mainstream restaurants this is the place to be. Make a reservation because it's quite small.

Amazing food, intimate ambiance
100% recommend this place. Great service, amazing creative dishes, good intimate vibe. The buffalo uni appetizer is to die for.

We (2 people) shared 4 appetizers and a main and I'm having a hard time thinking of a better overall meal i've had this year despite dining in multiple 3 Michelin star restaurants, etc, yadda. Everything they brought out was just perfect. The fresh moz w/ uni and yuzu foam might have been the highlight, but the Red Snapper Chazuke was close behind. Both were subtle, complex and just straight up delicious. Service was a+. I'll be back soon.

NYC has too many restaurants to count, so we rarely go back to the same one twice. Dieci is an exception. We don’t live in the neighborhood, but have continued to frequent Dieci on a consistent basis over the past several years. The dishes are innovative, well designed and superbly executed. The chef / owners know how to balance old favorites with new dishes on the menu. The staff is always gracious.

tiny restaurant but delicious,
tiny restaurant but delicious, innovative, creative Japanese/Italian fusion food.

Spectacular marriage of Italian and Japanese cuisines. The restaurant is small and the staff doesn't try to be pushy as it is custom in other NY restaurants so be prepared to wait a while even if you have a reservation but the wait is definitely worth it. Spectacular dishes from Apetizers to entreess. Didn't try deserts.

Absolutely fantastic miso cod and truffled mushroom risotto. As other commenters noted, the service is inattentive (even though the restaurant was empty). I will be going back next week!

My new favorite neighborhood gem!
Yes, there are a lot of Japanese restaurants in East Village but Dieci is really outstanding. I had such a great meal and enjoyed everything we ordered. Dare I say, there pork belly buns were at par with Momofoku minus the insane wait!

Off the beaten track
We took friends from out of town who appreciate unusual off the beaten track places....but good foods hey loved it.

When I first read about this little hidden gem in Little Tokyo, my taste buds had a slight revulsion to the idea of fusing together things like sea urchin with mozzarella and yuzu, or, seared foie gras with daikon and miso. But once tasted, I can't wait to go back for more of these wonderful fusion revolutions. Kudos to the culinary visionary behind these artistic expressions of harmony and unity that will one day transform the whole world.

Dieci is a must do
Definitely will be back for this small, but great restaurant.
The only negative you might find is the communal seating
arrangements. Potentially awkward. We really liked every-
thing about this place. Small seats about 25. 4 tables
of different sizes.

a petit fusion bistro !
Was there with two friends on a Saturday night. I've been craving for this Japanese/Italian bistro for quite a while and finally had a chance to eat here. We ordered 3 starters, 2 pasta and the steak as the main, together with 2 dessert to finish off the meal. The starters were good, but more of tapas like portion. Pasta was delicious, perfectly flavoured. Steak was ok, since it's not a steakhouse. Earl Grey creme brulee was interesting not overly sweet. I would like to go back to try other dishes.

As FANTASTIC as it used to be:-)))
We were pleasantly impressed when we came back for the first time in quite a while to celebrate our son's birthday. The service was very attentive and all the food we ordered were as heavenly as we knew!! My favorite dishes are Miso Fois Gras, Miso Cod and steak. Even though the place is rated as "not good for kids", all our kids enjoyed their food and service, and they are already craving about the steak and cod!! We truly appreciate the kindness of the manager and wait person as well as professionalism of kitchen staff. We will definitely come back as an adult group or couple, and hope the restaurant will prosper and continue to stay in tough NYC restaurant business until our kids are old enough to enjoy dining there on their own:-)

Japanese meet Italian
Mix of uni and pasta was perfect and delicious. Ramen ragu was also quite tasty and delicious. Everything was so fresh-oysters, tuna, veggies. Appetizers and pastas were better than the main entrees. Our group had the lamb, filet and cod. All were tasty, but apps were better. Even though small restaurant, we made reservation for 6 and everything was spot on.

I cannot give a higher rating or more praise for a meal. The food was exquisite and unique.
The service was professional and comforting.
We ordered almost every appetizer, half the pasta dishes and a main course.
It was spectacular.
With a bottle of wine and a bottle of saki, the bill was still very reasonable.
Thank you for a great evening!!!
