Food was great but work on service
Food was great but our entrees were fired too early arrived while still eating appetizers and then bus service hovered to clear it as soon as possible to bring our food back out again. Our bus server misunderstood and did not pack something we requested to go home and then later layered a plate on top of a different dish we were bringing home (but still boxed it). Food was really great....atmosphere/decor amazing....just need to be sure staff is representing the dining experience I'm sure they want us to have

Welcome Addition to Glencoe
Guildhall is a welcome addition of a fine dining establishment to Glencoe. The old hardware store has a new life in which some of the architectural details have been preserved to provide a chic ambience. The food is creative and well prepared. We shared a sweet corn soup and Salad Lyonnais, both of which had interesting flavors. For our entrees we ate the spaghetti pomodoro and mahi mahi in a bouillabaisse broth. All portions were appropriate, not too skimpy and not too large. The wait staff appeared to be experienced and mature; our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely be going back to Guildhall.

Perfect for Family Celebration!
We celebrated my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary 13 strong (ages 7 to 74). We went at 5 pm, sat in a smaller room at a long banquette towards the back.. It was fun and active. Great starters - caprese salad, calamari, pizza, garden salad... Mahi mahi, pork chop, lamb chops, spaghetti, chicken entrees all excellent. Desserts - delicious.... Brownie topped with ice cream and fudge sauce, key lime cheesecake, berry crumble all favorite choices...so good they were hard to share!
Great photos on the walls. Wonderful skylight to sit underneath. Atmosphere was excellent. Noise level a touch loud as the restaurant began to fill up. Thanks for helping to create a great memory.

Great restaurant in downtown
Great restaurant in downtown Glencoe. Energetic atmosphere, memorable aesthetics with interesting menu. Great beer list with unique craft brews. Service was attentive, almost too attentive.

Excellent, wonderful experience.
Great server. Great food-- burgers, watermelon salad, salad lyonaisse, oysters Rockefeller, steaks, lamb chops, salmon etc. Celebrated an anniversary and they made it special for all. Very friendly staff. Beautiful design and atmosphere. Good wines. A delightful place. Noise level was lively when place was packed. Don't miss it.

Close to perfection!
What a great meal this past Saturday.....the wine by the glass portions are very generous, as they come in a small carafe, so you
are going to get shorted; the crabmeat, caprese and seafood appetizers were ample and delicious. We were not rushed with our meal, and went early so the "energy" (noise) was not an issue at all. the pork chop was delicious, as were the chicken and steak frites. The best part was the spumoni sundae -- lots of pistachio ice cream, hot chocolate, cake and berries. Again, enough for several people allthough I ate most of it. We'll be back!!

What a wonderful surprise
We saw this restaurant in Glencoe on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised it was opened on Monday. We made reservations and for a Monday night; the beautiful, large restaurant was probably 1/2 full. Menu is short but carefully thoughout for seafood, meat and vegetarian choices I had the trout, which was a substitute for the walleye, and the flavor and presentation were superb. The other diner had a hamburger which was loaded with flavor. Corn soup was special and also were the frittes and mashed potatoes. Wine was very good, not too dry for me.
We would return often and know that reservations are needed. Our server was attentive and had great suggestions.

More Water Please
I found the Resturant to be spot on with the menu and atmosphere. The crowd was a nice mix of family's, couples and friends catching up while enjoying tasty food. I would suggest asking how many ounces the servings are so your not surprised. I drink 32oz of water at dinner and my glass was never below the half way mark, that was a first for me. It was nice to see others having dinner late during the week and they were able to get a table without a reservation. I did think the chair ratio to the table height was a little off, I had to sit sideways in order to cross my legs. On the way out I grabbed a book of matches from the hostess stand which was a nice touch to detail.

I've eaten at Guildhall several times and have enjoyed the fun cocktails and yummy food. It wasn't until this recent visit that I realized why we don't do "couples" dinners there, its really loud! We sat at a round four top and I couldn't hear anyone! My food, however, was delicious and the service was fantastic!!

Great addition to the North Shore
We had a fun and yummy dinner. Only critism was too many onions. Everything seemed to have the on. Otherwise my fish and salad was delicious. My husband is a vegetarian, and he really enjoyed the corn soup, creamed spinach, ratatouille, and grilled peppers. We all got to sample!

Third time's a charm
On my first two visits to Guildhall, I thought the food was decent but didn't blow me away. Then on the third visit everything was amazing. The place is gorgeous. I mean attention to color, design and architectural detail that you rarely see in restaurants. I was served the most wonderful drink called a Mademoiselle at the bar while waiting for friends after work. (the staff let me in early so I didn't have to stand outside. How nice!). I highly recommend this wonderful, tart, refreshing beverage. Bartender was very nice and I had a few quite minutes to myself with the yummy drink. This restaurant is a new gem. I don't need to go to the City for a great dinner -I had the salmon - or great, professional service. yay for Guildhall!

Dinner in the "hood"
Food and service were very good. The skate, which was the fish special, was outstanding. Flat Iron steak also superb. Chicken was very tasty. Waiter was very helpful and grew on us as the night wore on. Tough to pick a wine as didn't recognize one vintage and wine from Israel and Long Island was suspect but proved to be very additive to dinner. Total tab was reasonable; try the calamari appetizer and the flat bread also!
9/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Bit off the beaten path, but a real neighborhood gem up north in Glencoe. The fig flatbread was outstanding..
Would return again if in the neighborhood.

wonderful anniversary dinner
My husband and I went to Guildhall Friday night for our anniversary. We booked last minute so had a later reservation. The restaurant was still busy when we arrived, but cleared out a bit by the time we left. Our waiter, Marcos, was great. He let us take our time, was very knowledgeable on the menu, good sense of humor, courteous, etc We had the frito misto to start - great coating; light fry of the shrimp, calamari and squash with a nice aioli sauce. The cucumber martini was a nice refreshing treat! The caprese had excellent creamy mozzarella and fresh tomatoes and was very filling. The steam frites was cooked nicely. The interior is really well done; nice finishes and assortment of seating styles. Definitely recommend.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great atmosphere but definitely conversation challenged. Cuisine tasty and nice presentation, but entree selections are very limited. Good wine sekection by the bottle, but more by-the-glass options would have been nice. Staff is friendly but could use a little more polish. And why do severs always try to steer diners to the most expensive wine on the list?

The Place To Be!
Guildhall Restaurant is a great place to have dinner. This is my third time there and will not be my last! Very accommodating, décor makes you feel like you are in the City which is my favorite feeling. Food has been consistent and always delicious. One of the managers, Jorry is extremely pleasant and willing to help in every way. Great place for the girls to celebrate a special event and a great place for a couple to just get away from the routine restaurants.
Good Luck and I hope you are around for a long time!

Great bartending-high caliber.
Menu is fledgling and needs time to mature.
Good flavors. Needs time.

Consistently great experience!!
Consistently outstanding service; excellent waitstaff; fabulous cocktails; creative menu. Accommodating toward kids, while kids are kept out of main dining areas to allow for kid-free dining for everyone else - the perfect balance. One of my favorite northshore dining establishments; we dine here frequently.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
We enjoyed our dinner at Guildhall, however, it became extremely noisy when a table of six arrived and sat behind us and proceeded to yell and laugh one to another which made it almost impossible to have any decent conversation. It definitely is noisy, but the food was great. Wonderful bread.
9/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Artful beautiful minimalist decor
Collapsible doors seeing open, weather permitting, to create a bistro environment
Consistent great food, clearly top quality fresh ingredients.
Bar buzzing with energy
Great place to reconnect with neighbors and friends
Delicious cooking...and even a burger offered to keep it all real...
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food, good wine,good times
wonderful service and great flavors, but the noise level is always too hard to carry on a conversation
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Skate wing was scrumptious, as was the strawberry salad, flatbread, chicken....and, ahhhhhh, yes, the guild hall burger! A true world class restaurant. So pretty, and ALIVE. Welcoming to older adults, the very hip 30 something's, and beautifully behaved kids.
A great local see and be seen, with a remarkable server, tony, who made our experience joyous and loaded with laughs as well as prefect recommendations.
Thank you to guild hall! The suburbs so desperately needed a place like this!
9/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
great new restaurant
the restaurant is very pretty without being formal.the server was very helpful in helping us decide what to choose.the noise level was good. not too loud not too quiet.

Chicago on the N Shore
Guildhall is modern with a great beer/wine menu. It is the type of place that one hopes will thrive in the burbs...it is the type of place that is needed in a community like Glencoe. It saves people like me, seeking a vibrant scene and a unique dining experience, from driving downtown.
Our table loved the flatbread with fresh figs, a special that night, and the crudo. Everything was very high quality and tasty.
Bar service was impeccable, though our table service was just slightly above average.
Overall, we had an excellent dining experience. Highly recommended.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I brought our friends that were visiting from Italy to Guildhall. We chose the restaurant carefully because our friends know food and wine. We had a wonderful evening. Our server, Lizzie was tremendous. In fact the entire staff treated us very well.
The wine my husband chose was fabulous as were each of our dinners. The plates were beautifully presented and delicious. (Not to mention the bread and butter too!)
Look forward to going back
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
noise level- really?
It is a beautiful energetic location....great bar scene, good service, nice food and drink selections, but, the noise level is just TOO LOUD! I was exhausted from leaning across the table trying to hear my friend on the other side of the table. It is obvious that they have spent a lot of time, money and thought on every other aspect of this restaurant! What to do about the noise level? Maybe others don't feel the same way?!
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went with another couple, They are both foodies - his pork chop was very good, but her flat iron steak was mushy and had no taste except for the sauce. My husband and I both had the pike and the halibut, both were good, but I felt a small portion. We ordered the flat bread and the server didn't order it. The Manager took the steak off the bill. My husband I I will go back, our friends will not

Guildhall Better & Better
Loved everything about our third experience at Guildhall! Can't wait to go back! It just keeps on getting better and better! The amazing
mushroom tarte, carrot salad, duck, and chicken were all yummy! Our server, Aracely, is a gem and made the evening very special with caring attention and her darling personality!

Great for Glencoe
Finally we have a wonderful restaurant to enjoy in Glencoe! The food is very good and the ambience is great. We wish
it great success.

North Shore Gem
Had been hearing great things about Guildhall, even though it is only a couple miles from home we had just never found our way there... Finally corrected that oversight this past weekend and kicking myself for waiting so long. Nice location in quaint downtown Glencoe, can't wait to be sitting looking out their windows with snow swirling down the street this winter! When you first enter you are greeted by a buzz of conversation and happy dining noises, our server, Nando, was friendly and engaging. He confirmed we made good choices of roasted heirloom carrot salad, short ribs, and the broiled salmon. Both entrees were done to perfection, it will be tough for me to choose anything other than the short ribs on future visits! Fantastic!
10/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Guildhall has a fun vibe and good food. It feels like downtown Chicago.

First time visit; would return
Very attractive restaurant. Interesting menu with appeal to many tastes. Great location near Writer's Theater. Plan on returning in the future.

Fantastic Food...but too loud...
Enjoyed everything we ordered and the service was excellent. We specifically asked for a table in the back, as we knew it was a loud restaurant. But even in the back, the noise was really difficult. I don't know what they can do about it, but we really enjoyed the food. Its just a shame when you really have to shout to have a conversation.

Love Guild Hall
Great food and great atmosphere! The staff is wonderful. My favorite drink from when they first opened ("Waiting for Spring") is no longer on the menu; however, they made it for me.
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Des not disappoint!
Have taken new people to the restaurant twice. All have enjoyed it. The chicken is moist and tender. Great appetizers to share. The burger is great! Will continue to go back and try new things....
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
A great find!
We learned recently of Guildhall from a friend, and had our first visit the other night. Most assuredly, it will not be our last. From the decor to the service to the food, everything was top notch. Our server was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was very good (I had a chicken dish, my friend the braised short ribs). As a seasonal restaurant, they vary their menu throughout the year, and the autumn offerings were first rate. We will definitely be back.
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were looking for a place to have dinner before the theater in Glencoe. Found Guildhall on line and liked the picture of the restaurant. We were very impressed by the food - best gourmet burger ever, and the service was very friendly and accommodating.
10/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food--but LOUD!
The food was amazing--everything was wonderful--we had several different salads and all were wonderful. The Burrata was especially good and fresh. The Braised Shortrib had too much of something--Tarragon maybe? It was strong. LOVED the Pork Chop--it was delicious and the accompaniments accentuated the flavor of the meat. Desserts were also good. Service was top notch! My #1 complaint is the loudness--we could hardly talk because it was SO LOUD.

One Of The North Shore's Finest
It is quite possible that both James Beard AND Julia Child are smiling down on Guildhall. Everything about this restaurant exemplifies contemporary American fine dining should: warm and friendly (without being overly familiar), efficient and attentive service, sophisticated, relaxed, void of pretense or condescension, with a clear emphasis on the food, which is well-sourced and well-executed by a versatile chef who clearly means business. Guildhall is where I would bring my European friends, who would readily appreciate both the Continental roots and American branches of its cuisine. The ambient noise was still a bit excessive on my second visit, but otherwise this restaurant has excellent visual/acoustic qualities and very good feng shui.

Bustling in Glencoe
This loud, crowded, cafe-designed restaurant feels like you're in the city, not sleepy Glencoe. The food was very good but beware the chef loves smoke flavor. It's even in the honey butter that comes with the nice crusty chewy rolls. The whitefish, the short rib and the wild boar pasta were all delicious and the Brussel sprout side had a touch of honey. I could do without the smoke but its a new signature twist you might enjoy.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great addition to Glencoe!
Excellent food, nice ambiance (although a bit loud) and service was exceptional. Very considerate of our need to get to theater on time.

Great addition to Glencoe
Service excellent: friendly and prompt. Halibut was cooked perfectly but sauce was a little too salty and heavy. Delicious "sticky pudding" dessert.
11/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
train the wait staff
The tables here are really close together - and the wait staff squeeze between each table to serve the guests. It is really rude and awkward how many times a wait persons "back side" is in your face when he/she is tending to the table next to you. This marred an otherwise very enjoyable experience. Please....try to think of a solution.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
The short ribs were the best I've ever had, and the accompanying roast root vegetables were perfectly caramelized. The special seasonal cocktail, the "Hunky Dory" should be made permanent!
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
The fresh oysters and the short ribs with root vegetables were spectacular!

great food a bit pricey
the food was innovative, portions adequate, not large. Service excellent, waiter was well informed, helpful but not pushy. Noise level is high so difficult for those without excellent hearing. Space is beautifully renovated.
