My guests meal was great by all accounts,(CrabCakes and Oysters)my Steak(tenderloin)was very fatty and I couldn't eat it.The Exec Chef Jakob Esko came out (nice touch) and it wasn't charged.
I have to say that the seafood stand that guests were eating on the next table looked and they said tasted amazing .
Overall the service was great, thecamapange trolley was fun (if expensive). We got agreat Birthday dessert (another nice touch)
This is a new restaurant in anew hotel, but I think considering everything,it was agreat evening.Just wished we could of had adrink on the rooftop, but the front bar is proving to be popular with the locals
Will be back, can't wait to go for lunch in summer and sit on the canal

Excellent new restaurant alongside
Excellent new restaurant alongside the C&O canal in a hotel. No sign on the street and a little hard to find. Everyone agreed the food was excellent from the salads right through the Baked Alaska. Most of us had the steaks. A little warm to sit outdoors, but it would have been nice to sit outside overlooking the Canal.

Exquisite, exceptional, superb.
Without question the best restaurant in DC. Everything about this place is impeccable and worthy of highest praises.

Dining Euro Style
Loved the experience. New Staff, slow service but friendly, but not bad for a new place. If you are sitting outside request bug spray asap, the canal is home to many flying hungry objects. Food was not fantastic

What a wonderful dining experience! We had a drink in the Rye Bar before dinner. Beautiful bar and great mixologist. We sat outside overlooking the C and O canal in a garden setting. We ordered steak tartar for an appetizer and it was delicious. It's prepared table side so you chose what goes in and how much. We had the duck breast and halibut; both excellent dishes. For dessert we split baked Alaska. My only disappointment was, it wasn't flamed. Still it too was delicious and we left knowing we will definitely return.

Thursday Night with Friend
The restaurant is new -- modern decor with a nice view of the canal. The service was excellent -- friendly, attentive, gracious and non-intrusive. The food was excellent -- cooked as I requested and delicious. The appetizers and main course was attended by a small loaf of bread -- crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside, just perfect for the tasty butter. I spent four years in France and was spoiled forever by its freshly baked bread. The Grill's bread was just that good; so I had another. The cheese plate was varied, all offerings quite tasty. Perhaps one of these days, the restaurant will have a Port to go with it.

Word of mouth brought us here to celebrate a birthday - and The Grill Room staff and kitchen exceeded all expectations. Ricardo was attentive, helpful with suggestions, and truly listened to what we were in the mood for. The ribeye was perfection! We will be back.

Evening with a Tuscon Friend
As I was once before, I was delighted with this restaurant. Once inside the restaurant, the libations were generous. The wine was nice and carefully decanted. The food was nicely presented. An extra oyster had snuck onto my plate. The snapper, baked in sea salt, was prepared at table side. The tenderloin was just as I ordered, although not quite as succulent as the last time I was there. But, more important than the bulk of the meal were the essentials -- the bread was crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside, the better to absorb the delicious butter, and the cheese plate was varied, with each offering tasty and zesty, and, this time, accompanied by a tasty port. I must also report the service was perfect.

I highly recommend this restaurant. All around excellent. The steak was the best I have ever had. Service was remarkable. Cocktails made to perfection and a very nice wine list.

Exceptional Dining Experience
Outstanding ambience, great food and excellent service.

What can I say? Along with truly excellent bread came not only butter, but a marrow bone!
A terrific Rye bar produced a superior Manhattan, along with excellent service. The food was exceptional. My wife had a chicken dish that was far above any other she has had elsewhere. I had heard they offered roast suckling pig. When I called to confirm, they said it was a dinner entree, but the chef would gladly make it for me at lunch. This request was noted and the dish was produced without further request on my part.
Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing, and we felt at home. It is a very nicely designed restaurant where the music is kept low and in the background, perfect!
We will certainly be back again!

Our waiter was so fantastic! He was truly a total wine nerd, and we loved it. He made the experience absolute perfection. We look forward to trying the other things on the menu very soon.

First Visit! Not last!
Went for Saturday girls' brunch and it was fantastic.
Tom was our server and he was very great. The food was clean and beautiful. Portions were perfect.
Georgetown needs a good growth spurt re: quality dining and this is a nice start.
HIGHLY recommend this gem. Some shy away from the price but totally worth it.

Great Place to Dine with a Friend
I enjoy this restaurant so much I am making it a habit. Whenever I find I have an occasion to take a friend out to dinner, I will choose this place. It is cozy, comfortable, the staff looks out for you but does not intrude, the food -- I love their tenderloin on a bone -- is great, their bread is why I am there, and their cheese plate is a perfect occasion for a post prandial port. Did I mention all the staff, from valet to waiter to maitre D work to make all aspects of your dinner pleasant.

Our sausage tasting with flights
Our sausage tasting with flights of rye cocktails was an excellent food adventure. The restaurant is beautiful. The staff was attentive and friendly. We will return if we are in DC.

Great (but pricey) Meal
Great location along the canal in Georgetown, amazing service and totally delicious food. My husband and I are total foodies and very picky - food was amazing, down to the dessert and cocktails. Service was amazing - will ask for Tom everytime we go back! Totally expensive but very much worth it for that special event.

Best food, great ambiance
I heard about this gem while visiting Capella in Cabo (where the food was also delicious and the cliff-side ambiance amazing) and tried it on a recent trip to D.C. The dining lived up to my highest expectations. We started with champagne (great selection they roll around in a cooler) and melt-in-your-mouth rolls and appetizers (beef tartare prepared tableside and tuna tartare) and finished with flawless main dishes (crispy suckling pig and scallops with pulled pork). A special touch was when the Swedish chef came by to check in with us. Between the outstanding food, service and great canal views, we could have stayed forever. Will definitely be back!

Very very good
We stayed at the Capella Hotel 3 nites. Dined at the
Grill Room for 3 breakfasts and 1 dinner. Breakfast
was very good, but dinner was great, both the service
and food. We will definitely return next visit to Georgetown
and stay at Capella.

A thoroughly enjoyable 40th anniversary experience! Although we were only there for lunch, the staff treated us as if we had spent the night in one of the Capella Hotel's $595/night rooms. The waiter, Tom, was especially attentive and seemed genuinely touched by our celebration. We were seated at a table for 2 by the window overlooking the canal -- very romantic. While the food, for us, is a secondary consideration, we enjoyed the lobster salad and grilled salmon. For dessert, the executive chef rolled out a cart and introduced us to all of the items on display. Tom then proceeded to place one of each on a plate for us that had been inscribed with "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate. We can't wait for #41 at The Grill Room next year!

NEW TO THE GEORGETOWN DINING
NEW TO THE GEORGETOWN DINING SCENE. IT WILL BE VERY QUICKLY ONE OF GEORGETOWN'S BEST RESTAURANTS.

Very good, we had no complaints.
Very good, we had no complaints. The only thing saving the "5" star rating was that for this price, I have had better meals. Phenomenal staff though. The chef coming out to see how the food was I also thought was a very nice touch. The food was definitely very good, but neither the appetizer, nor my or my wife's dish was something I will remember for a week.

New hot spot
This place is about to become a mob scene - it in before you can't!

Lunch was fabulous. Attentive service, nice menu, gorgeous presentation. Well designed restaurant in the Capella Hotel. Valet parking. Even the Cappuccino was yummy. The Grille Room is a winner.

went to the grill room recently for my 5th wedding anniversary - one of the more outstanding dining experiences i've had in quite some time - service was excellent, food was outstanding, excellent knowledge about their wine list all combined into a relatively small dining room made for a fantastic evening - go early and have a drink at the adjoining Rye Bar where people watching was also top notch - i'll be shocked if you're not required to book a month out once the word about this place starts to really spread around town...i know i'll be back -
