Great surprise off the beaten track
We were looking for a new place to take a foodie friend for a casual post-birthday dinner, and Bar Sugo was a perfect place. The menu offers many alluring choices - from the small plates to unusual pizzas to a meatball "sampler." to home-made pastas. All were made incorporating local ingredients, notably delicious baby arugula. Everything was good, most was very good, and a couple of dishes were superlative. Our favorites were the veal meatballs, fried calamari, and homemade ravioli. We had two quibbles: the otherwise yummy gnocchi with wild mushroom sauce was too salty, and we had to ask for bread, unusual when there are so many great sauces to scoop up. The service was friendly, noise not distracting, good value.

It gets better
This place just keeps getting better. Easily one of the best pizzas around, creative salads and a half-dozen different delicious meatballs, plus a solid and fairly priced wine list -- and they're now serving lunch and on Open Table!
They've also lowered the decibel-level of the music so you can actually hear each other.

Service was fair at best. Hostess kept opening the door since she was warm. Had to ask her three times to close it as we were seated right by the door. Solid food, however our waitress was clearly not a foodie and wasn't able to help with selections.

Best Pasta In Ages
Honestly, all other pastas pale by comparison. And the meatballs were that good as well. Food is outstanding. Service is inconsistent and the soundtrack kind of bizarre (a 20-minute rendition of "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" was starting to wear thin, but we loved the place overall. Great atmosphere and great, great food.

Awesome Restaurant -- Don't Miss It
We've been coming here for several months once a week or so and I have to share how good the food is here. Selfishly, I want to keep it to myself, because we went on Wednesday and all the tables were full!
Pat and his team do an AMAZING job though and he and the staff are such good people, I can't keep it a secret. The taste combinations Pat comes up with are really remarkable. The food is fresh as the chef, Pat Pascarella, follows the farm-to-table ethic. He changes the menu every couple of weeks, so there are always new things to try.
Whatever you do, don't miss Bar Sugo!

Always a great meal
The fascinating small plates that chef Pat Pasquerella comes up with are always simply delicious. And their wine list is interesting and mostly affordable.

Everything was terrific. I recommend the Cavallini and parmesean crusted and prosciutto wrapped french fries. A bit pricey for central Norwalk but let's hope it helps revive the local area. Seriously, prices were Manhattan level.

Love that Bar Sugo opened!
Thanks for adding to the GOOD food scene on Wall Street in our old little Norwalk!

My new favorite place
I live just a few blocks away, and love to walk over to meet friends and enjoy a drink and great food. Their happy hour specials are an excellent value. Everything they make is just superb.

A wonderful Find
We have eaten here twice and not been disappointed on either occasion. The menu changes, though there are a few "classics" that are always available.

Another great restaurant in Norwalk
Every dish that came out was better than the one before. Consistently great food. Will make this one on our rotation along with Fat Cat, Pasta Nostra, The Spread and Tarry Lodge. Great job, guys!

Delicious Italian Cuisine
We really enjoyed our dinner at Bar Sugo. It was a nice romantic spot for date night, but would also be great for a group of friends. The pizza was amazing and so were the meatballs!

Great Atmosphere, Delicious Food
The food is on par with other local gems like Welk in Westport. We had the Crab Aroncini (amazing), Octopus, Mozzarella with Truffle Honey, Heirloom Tomato Salad and Salted Carmel Cheesecake. We loved every single dish! The atmosphere is cozy and fun. This area of Norwalk has a few great restaurants and is "gentrifying". Definitely try this restaurant, you won't be sorry.

Sunday Night Family Dinner
This place is awesome. The staff was so great. The food was great. The music was great. We had a great family dinner. We will make this a regular spot for our family. Prices are fair. I'm already planning my next meal there.

Sugo pays attention to the
Sugo pays attention to the details in presentation and foodie menu choices. The steak was cooked to perfection as was the branzini we irdered. The portions are a tad small, rack of lamb chops were appetizer size but overall is working at being au courant in food presentation and hip preparation. There were kinks in the armour in perfecting the gnocchi with mushrooms, with poached egg... The rice pudding arancini for dessert was a new twist on the use of the elements but was too dry. The service was the best ever with a waiter that could pass as owner. He gave us a recipe and made sure our glasses were never empty.

Going to Garden Cinema? Don't miss dinner are Bar Sugo, right around the corner. Great menu, wonderful service, fun for groups.

Stumbled upon this neighborhood gem quite by accident. This place is a hidden treasurer and is exactly what we were looking for: great neighborhood 'joint' with lively locals, very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff, AWESOME food (small plate approach; sort of like 'comfortable Italian tapas' and terrific (indie) Pizza.) The prices are affordable and the place is 'cool' but approachable. I know by writing this, we might be crowding ourselves out of the little-known joint that we love (been there about 6 times and will continue to patronize them) but, whoever owns, runs and works here deserves this "shout out". Signed, AJC27

Not too far from home and the food is great! Among our favorite dishes are: meatballs (the sampler), brussel sprouts, homemade pastas and a scrumptious chocolate pot de creme with sea salt caramel on top. I might suggest bread for the table or crostini/bruschetta and beefing up the wine list. All in all, a great place!!

Delicious, cozy and reasonable
Bar Sugo is a one minute walk from the area's great indie movie house, open late all nights but Sunday, and a real find. Everything from pizza to small plates tapas style, to entrees - all with an Italian flair. We're total food snobs and love the food. Their meatball small plates are unique, and not your average grandma's meatballs - try venison with homemade fig jam, for one example. Service is great, and the restaurant is perfect for sustaining itself - nice bar, just enough cozy tables in the rear, food that is delicious and very sophisticated, but not pretentious. Sunday nights wine is half price, and there are some very good bottles. Lots of vegetarian options, which in our family is a must. New favorite spot!

Great spot for the most part
We have come many times for happy hour and appetizers. This was our first time doing brunch at Bar Sugo. The only negative thing I have to say is that the timing on the food wasn't great. Our crostinis/appetizers didn't come till after our main dishes. Which was unfortunate given that 1 out of 4 of us at the table didn't have anything to eat while the others entrees were served. For the most part everything I've eaten at Bar Sugo is exceptional, but my omelette was very overcooked. I'd recommend trying something else, like their eggs benedicto which had a great and different kind of hollandaise sauce.

The relaxed casual feel of Bar Sugo is a perfect way to end your day. The menu is simple but oh so delicious. Yes they have perfectly cooked pizza and pasta but it's their meatballs and selection of small plates that stand out. A definite place to try if you haven't been there.
