Very pleasant surprise. Food
Very pleasant surprise. Food was excellent and the kitchen was not afraid of making things quite spicy. Service was fine, although one of us didn't have a proper chair. Otherwise, everything was great. Loved it and will definitely go back!

The Real Deal for Indian Cuisine
Best Indian in the East Village. Delicious and authentic food. Open kitchen, stylish interiors and great service. Can't wait to go back.

Really well-executed Indian
Really well-executed Indian food - certainly miles above most of the restaurants on the 6th Street row

Lives Up to the Reviews
I liked the place. The diners' reviews that I had read said that it was so much better than the other restaurants on 6th St. -- well, that wouldn't take much. But I did think the food was very good -- reminiscent of what 6th St. was like decades ago. My husband had the fish curry, which he loved.I had the lamb skewers, which I described to my husband as really good street food. Actually, it meant it as a complement . The only thing that disappointed me was the paneer, which The Times' reviewer raved about. Service was sweet and prompt -- of course, we went at 5:30 because we were afraid of the crowds (after the Times review); I can't vouch for later. I will go back to sample some of the other dishes, but this first trip was promising

Packed because of NY Times
Packed because of NY Times review, and well deserved. Food was very tasty and more complex, subtle and nuanced than the usual 6th Street fare. We will go back.

wonderful wonderful dishes
wonderful wonderful dishes !! we were 5 for dinner and tried 1 dish from each category...very clean tastes denoting fresh ingredients, not too dry nor too saucy. teeny restaurant tastefully decorated. northern indian dishes that we didn't know were pleasant surprises and happy to find a good goat / lamb selection. only negative was that we had several communication issues with staff (language ?) but very personable and eager to help. reservations a must.

Awesome experience, the food wait was a little long, but the chefs were able to accommodate our special dietary restrictions (no onion and garlic). Would definitely go again.

I didn't really go in expecting much, especially since it took me about five minutes for me to even be acknowledged by someone. I had never had Indian before, and the server was really excellent in his recommendations. It was still too spicy for me (I'm super sensitive to spice, hence, never having tried Indian before), and he brought me some fantastic yogurt sauce. Oh, and the wine was fantastic! A great sauvignon blanc. It was a super high quality of service, but I didn't really expect it to be, and I was more than happy with what I got.

Malai Marke on the Mark
Yum. The Tandor Chicken went well with the Chickpea and Spinach Saag which had the right amount of spice. The Indian chips with a sweet, spicy and very spicy dip were a welcome start while we were deciding what to eat. Service was very good, prices were reasonable. Next time we have a yearning for Indian food, we will be back.

Fantastic South Indian Food
The menu descriptions were charming ("a dish your in-laws might serve you"),
The food was delicious and extremely fresh tasting. The service was efficient and courteous. Can't recall the
names of our main dishes, but the okra dish your in-laws might serve was great.
The kulfi (Indian ice cream) was the best we ever tasted. Their kheer was mediocre. The restaurant is attractive

Curry Row's Modern Newcomer
Curry Row is known for dozens of inexpensive Indian restaurants. This newcomer is anything but your typical Curry Row fare. Instead you have gourmet Indian food with high-quality ingredients with a modern decor. And the prices reflect the differences. Expect to pay $13-15 per dish instead of $7-10, but it'll be worth it.

Exactly what I was looking for.
Simply, my girlfriend and I enjoy Indian food. For our anniversary, we wanted to go somewhere special. The food was amazing, and the staff was very friendly and very helpful.
If you enjoy Indian food, you will love the food here.

A star on 6th St restaurant row
MM is definitely a cut above its neighbors, including tony service and clever decorating touches. Will be back.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Based on good reviews we went for an early dinner during the week. Restaurant is small with close seating normal for the neighborhood, but is pretty and modern. Service was gracious and friendly. Were served a nice complementary starter of papadam and 3 sauces. We ordered chicken tika masala, a creamy fish dish from Kerala, rice, chana saag and nann. All were delicious. Would definitely return.

Great restaurant. Gets a little noisy especially on a weekend night. But food is superb and staff is so nice!

Fine Indian Food
The food was really good. Delicious chicken xacuti, the paneer appetizer. I found the 2 chili notation re spice definitely not very hot, could easily try the 3 and 4 next time. Definitely want to go back and try some more dishes.
Service was really lovely, waitstaff very attentive and friendly.
Recommend the Reisling with dinner....
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Have gone several times. Food is always very tasty. More elegant than usual 6th Street fare, but not as glitzy or expensive as uptown Indians. Enjoy!

best Indian food without pretense
We don't regularly eat Indian, but we do often enough to have frequented most worthy ones, and this new restaurant has terrific food and truly best service you can expect. Chicken tikka masala is the best one I have ever had. It is not the cheapest, but priced ok for a restaurant that serves food of quality that competes with much higher priced places.

Great Indian Food!
This was our first time at this restaurant. Service was very attentive and the food was delicious. Would recommend Gulab Jamun for dessert -- it was some of the best we've ever had!
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
I went with 4 friends and we enjoyed the meal. As some of my friends are not very experience with Indian cuisine, we went for milder dishes, but they were delicious. Good value for what we had.

Excellent food, modern setting
Really good Indian food, delicious naan, good service, lively but not overly loud, and reasonably priced. We had a terrific pre-theater dinner. I will happily return.
