The food was amazingly delicious.
The food was amazingly delicious. The waiter popped in and out, there were a couple times we had empty glasses. The food takes a little longer than other restaurants Because it's all made fresh and made to order. We loved it and will be going back.

The food is very original on Native American themes. It was especially well done and was very good. I had enchiladas, but had them made with green chili instead of red and they were outstanding. My husband had the hamburger, but the bun looked like a pita wrap. It also was very good and the fries had just the right amount of chili. Overall the food was excellent.

The food here never disappoints, especially if you're looking for a break from the typical soup/salad/steak or chain restaurants. Everything on the menu is unique and well executed. We especially love the roasted green chili stew, IMO the best item on the menu. The fry bread with honey butter is also excellent, and the pumpkin chocolate bread pudding is the perfect way to finish off the meal.
One caveat, each time we've been there the wait staff seems to forget something we ordered or take longer than usual to deliver the food. This time we never received the salad we ordered, but we had more than enough food without it so it worked out well (it did show up on the final bill, however, so we had to have our payment voided and reprocessed).

Another Provo gem
A unique restaurant with Southwestern Native American inspired cuisine. Everything we ordered was good although some items on the menu were clearly superior. Cactus lemonade, sweet potato fries and the red chili Navajo taco were my favorites.

My husband I agreed that the best part of the meal was the appetizer-their tacos. While the burger and Navajo taco we had were good, it could not even top the taco which left us a bit let down with our main course. However, it is still a great restaurant for the area and we will be going back.

We've been to Black Sheep many, many times. Our disappointment has been the length of wait time between ordering and the arrival of our food. Much too long! When we went last Saturday night, however, our meals were served in a timely manner. We noticed the same for other tables as well. We will go back and continue to enjoy the delicious menu.

Great food, but plan on spending some time. From when we our order was taken until the food arrived it took 30 minutes, but it was fantastic food!

Delightful and orignal
Decided to splash out a bit and order the chef's special, which was roasted quail. It was remarkable. The sauce had great depth and the quail were deboned and cooked perfectly. We also opted for the cactus pear lemonade. I was willing to pay $6 for just a glass but they brought us each a wine-sized bottle of our own. The lemonade was interesting, but a bit too sweet for my tastes. Make sure you make reservations, the wait on a Saturday night would have been over an hour if we hadn't done so.

The Navajo tacos here are divine, seriously... mouth-watering. Hog jowl tacos were scrumptious too. My hubby had the special Bison New York Steak, $38.00 ...it was tough and no flavor, ouch on the pocket book for tasteless meat. So my suggestion would be to stick to the specialties they are known for. Bleu cheese burger, Navajo Tacos, etc. Happy Eating!!

Unique, interesting food
Really enjoyed the food experience here. The menu was full of things we had not tasted before but what we had was delicious. Only complaint was that the music in the restaurant which is noisy already because of the open kitchen was too loud and to our ears very unattractive. Not quite sure what genre it was. Would certainly com back if we were in Provo again.

I love this place! My favorite in Utah County for sure. It has a unique feel with fantastic food. So delicious my mouth is watering just think about the Navajo tacos.

My wife and I have a new favorite!
This restaurant specializes in gourmet native american food. A little bit more expensive then your average lunch or even dinner restaurant, but well worth the few extra dollars. Small restaurant makes for a noisy atmosphere, but the food and the service make it well worth it. Not the ideal spot for a quiet romantic evening or drinks after work, the most important reason to come here is for the absolutely amazing meals. You can see the chefs busily preparing your meals from nearly any table in the restaurant. The food is an experience in itself. For lunch I recommend the Blacksheep Burger.

Excellent as always
As always the food was amazing. The service was a little slow but I think they were understaffed. I will be back for sure.

just about perfect
In addition to what might be the best hamburger (the bleu burger) I've ever had, the service and setting were perfect. I'll be back.

Contemporary Southwest w/ Navajo
We liked the food. The flavors were unique and tasty. The waiters seemed a little overly helpful / attentive.

Best Food in Provo
I have yet to order anything there that is not delicious. They understand their food is slow and humorously apologize in advance which is fine, just order an appetizer or you will get bored waiting. My date and I shared an appetizer and entree and were satiated.

Great food takes time
My experience with Black Sheep Cafe has always been very positive. The food is great. The spices aren't hot like Mexican food, but they are pungent and intense. It does take some time for the food to make it to your table, which is fine if you're not in a hurry. Drinks are overpriced, but then they're overpriced at every restaurant, it seems. Will certainly return because it's reliably good food and a great atmosphere..

As great as advertised!!
It was cool!! The food was exactly as the menu said it would be. I was kind of disappointed in the respect of the menu. It was very understated!! The food was very well explained on the menu and when it arrived at the table it was better looking, not really as important to me as taste, than it was described. No bad things here!! The food was amazing, the portions were perfect and Daniel was kind of put on the spot when my GF asked him to surprise us with dessert and he didn't even blink!! :) Daniel was on the spot with everything. He made a great choice and we loved it.

Culinary Gem in Provo
Black Sheep Cafe is one of the new wave of local restaurants that has repopulated downtown Provo, and it is one of the best. They've got a combination Native American/Mexican cuisine, and it is just fabulous. We had the chimichanga, the green chili stew, and the prickly pear lemonade and were extremely satisfied. We had a side of asparagus as well, and it was as good as anything I've ever had in New York or any other foodie hotspots. They do their food right, and it is amazing!

Unusual and Familiar
Black Sheep offers an interesting mix of options: from the familiar Navajo "fry bread," improved, to the squash soup or roast salmon. The flavors really shine, though, in the sauces and the tacos. I would welcome more vegetarian and fish options, though, because those were very limited. We had reservations on a Saturday night and the food was exceptionally slow in arriving; in addition, it was served out of order, with a side dish brought out before appetizers or main dishes. Still, the staff was helpful and pleasant.

Specialized flavors, limited menu.
Black Sheep café won me over with its unique style and flavors. I remember digging into some Hog Jowl Tacos during the summer; pig neck could never be so tasty.
My most recent excursion was a bit disappointing for one reason only: they no longer serve the Goat Burger during dinner hours. I can't remember ever having a beef patty in such a divine way as my first Goat Burger (the goat in the name is not the meat source). When I visited this restaurant most recently for the sole purpose of getting Goat Burgers. Our waiter broke the bad news to me about the service change, and my soul grieved; I would have no Goat Burger that night. Perhaps this tale of woe will persuade this fine establishment to share this goodness at all hours, once again.

Service was outstanding. Reservations are a must. Did not feel rushed. Small and intimate.

Great little spot in downtown Provo
This restaurant has always been a gem, but they have changed things to be a bit more upscale now. The atmosphere was great and the food was excellent!

Gem in Provo
Rare find in an area with few real restaurants. Open kitchen, all fresh ingredients, great cocktails!
