Epernay is a cool spot. The service was great and I loved the atmosphere. The food was pretty good but the sushi was nothing to write home about.

Everything, from decor, to
Everything, from decor, to food, service even the choice of background music is classy. This was our first visit, there will be more as it is conveniently located for pre- or post-theater dining. We hope that they will not have an off night and disappoint us.

Food Hits and Misses, Slow Service
Need to significantly pick up the service pace. Arrived at 7pm and left at 10pm for a party of 6 on Friday 3/22. 5 minutes from seating to server arrival. Beer/Soft Drinks took 10 minutes, bottle of champagne another 10 minutes, only to be set in an ice bucket for another 5 mins until our server arrived to open it. From seating to first sip of champagne was 30 mins. Other service gaps were more likely due to kitchen execution as the meal wore on and on. HITS Spinach Salad, Poached Salmon, Miso Glazed Sea Bass. MISSES Seared Sea Scallops (no seared caramelization at all) Bittersweet Chocolate Cheesecake (lifeless) and Strawberry & Passion Fruit Cake (average at best) Server was very nice, but meal pacing was awful.

Smart drink list--and great
Smart drink list--and great accompanying food choices--had two sushi items, both supple and fresh. Service was a bit chaotic for the number of people dining at the time--took me about 15 minutes to get a second drink--Overall, pleasant experience.

We had a birthday party at Epernay and it was wonderful. The food was amazing, the service was outstanding and it was just a fabulous evening. Many thanks to the staff and to Duy for his magnificent food!

Great Sake/Sushi menu
We've been to Epernay twice now, once after the Symphony for drinks and dessert, once prior to a Buell performance for dinner. The food is exceptional; the sushi is fresh and beautifully presented (have the Spicy Missy roll if it's on the specials) and the striploin is delicious. We've had 4 of the desserts - the cream brulee is amazing, but everything else we've had has been a nice combination of sweet and savory. This is the first restaurant downtown in a long time with a large sake selection; we're working our way through this list and it's all been outstanding. An undiscovered gem by many, we've only had one Friday night where it was packed, but this will soon be on everyone's list.

Epernay has a some surprising twists to their menu that add variety and pleasure to the dining experience.

The appetizers we had were spectacular (halibut and tuna sashimi plates)! The sushi was ordered was good, but nothing special.

Food was good. Service was great. Ambiance was awesome.

Food was great, very retro and chic inside, unfortunately it took awhile to get the food. Prices are very reasonable and sushi rolls were reasonable in size, if they worked on service...the restaurant could be something great.
3.2 out of 5

This was our first time at Epernay but it won't be our last! They have a great Happy Hour and the Bass was scrumptious!

Met a friend, Enjoyed as usual
The experience was as nice as I remembered, even though it has been a while. Came back to town to realize some good things don't change. Then I shared with others that this is a place to enjoy dining.

This was really a unique place for sushi! It was not your ordinary sushi diner. The mac n cheese was to die for. It had a very addicting taste. Our server was so outgoing and friendly. He made us feel comfortable.

Great lounge for dinner
Menu selection ok. Quality of food great.
Server was slow getting bill and food out in light of it not being busy. Supposedly understaffed that evening.
Slightly over priced for portions, but the food was great. Wine list could be more extensive by the glass.
Seating fast. Hip chic establishment.

The food was good, not great,
The food was good, not great, but presented beautifully. We only had rolls and sushi. The problem was the rice was warm when our rolls were made which affected the taste considerably. And, because the rice was warm, it didn't hold together, so it was difficult eating with chopsticks. We had a great server, though...he even got me the recipe for the fabulous drink I had - a Leopold 75. Atmosphere and decor nice and upscale - looked like a fun bar area. Sadly, both restaurant and bar weren't very busy on Friday evening.

Very nice find before theatre
We always make a night of it when we see a play at the Performing Arts Center and since we were headed over to see Peter and the Star Catcher - we decided that Epernay would be a excellence dinning choice. We read through the website and the menu and have to say Epernay did not disappoint. The restaurant has a nice feel to it given its location and the food and service was awesome. The sushi was great and even better was the bouillabaisse that we had as a main course! Though would have like more broth. Oh - and you have to try the maple creme bruelee topped with pecans!
With so many choices downtown- Epernay should be on your list! It will not disappoint and will be back again!

A Foodie Find
Your attention to the "perfect" taste blend, presentation and fresh choices leave us wanting MORE! THANK YOU for setting up shop near our beloved Denver Center for the Performing Arts Complex! (AND for having Valet that last through the show time!)
What a perfect combination! And since the restaurant across the street changed ownership (and service food etc went downhill pretty consistently in our experience) we were hungering for a beautiful dining experience to replace what we felt we lost there. What a magnificent treat to have found YOU!!

I had a great date with my wife here. We had sushi and drinks. It was perfect! Excellent service and food!!
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband had been wanting to try this restaurant because it's so close to the theater, and I'm glad we did! The food was delicious. Seared scallops with a purple cauliflower puree - to die for! Yum. The ambiance is a bit sterile and our server was kindof stuffy, but the food was great, and the drinks were strong. We had a good time and would definitely go again.

Went for Sushi but was disappointed. Menu had changed and they did not offer much in the way of fresh fish. In fact, they were out of our 1st 2 choices for sashimi. Menu options read - "a variety of fish" but they never tell which ones which probably means they use the "old" stuff first. Everything we ate was good, just limited choices.
The other menu items were really good too, so I think they "Epernay" need to decide which direction they want to go.
We were there early so it wasn't very busy, but the atmosphere was nice.
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
The sushi and sashimi were fresh. With the garlic tuna sashimi being the highlight. Decent selection of wine and sake.
They also serve entrees, but we did not try them. Looked like lamb, steak, chicken, etc.
The stuffed mushrooms were cheesy and wonderful. The seaweed salad had great mini-cucumbers and the blue cheese salad had bacon and big chunks of blue cheese. The desserts were delicious. I recommend the flourless torte.

Loved this 1st visit. Dined
Loved this 1st visit. Dined before going to the Symphony and found out it was Happy Hour, and on a Saturday, yet! We ordered just about everything on the HH menu. All fresh and expertly seasoned, that includes the house salad with it's artistic plating and lemon vinaigrette. $5 for any of the specialty drinks was quite the deal. Were given the option to sit in a high back booth with a low table in the lounge, the privacy was nice. Dishes delivered by various people, they seemed to jump in and take food out whether it came from the sushi bar or the kitchen (maybe because restaurant was rather empty).

The food was excellently prepared with the most interesting of food combinations. Our waitress was more than helpful with explanations of the food and she provided excellent service. I highly recommend this restaurant for the proximity to the Performing Arts Complex and the fantastic service and one of the best meals I have enjoyed in a long time.

Epernay is worth a babysitter
The overall experience was good. I just walked too far and almost ended up in the men's room which DOESN'T have a door. The server was friendly and the food was delicious.

Epernay Lounge is a beautiful restaurant. The service was excellent. The sushi was very good. I would go back. It's very classy and would be a good spot for a date.

This restaurant has a very beautiful atmosphere that Is hip and fun for any occasion. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. I came here for my birthday and the experience was fantastic. The main chef was able to prepare a small delectable dish to accommodate my birthday. Overall great place and would come here again!

Greeted by no one. Had to
Greeted by no one. Had to ask to be seated! Not a good way to start! Started w/ Butternut squash soup - Excellent and I wanted more! Next I had an order of edamame which was OK and then an order of Scallops that were delightful. The entree was a pork chop done a bit too much. Good flavor but dry for a chop. Wine was difficult to settle on. Very tough to decide when they all had a strong minerality that doesn't go well with either fish or pork dishes. I settled on a french pinot N that was acceptable at best.

Enjoyed our meal
Right in the middle of downtown Denver, close to the convention center. Difficult to park on street, but parking garage attached to restaurant if you don't mind paying $10 to park. Sat by window and watched people and traffic. Surrounded by buildings, very urban. That being said, food, service, and presentation was excellent. A bit pricey, but food WAS very good. If you like "the city", I would recommend this place.

A good dinner all around
We enjoyed a delicious Pork Chop and Beef Tenderloin this past weekend. A little disappointed when we asked if we might have some bread as an accompaniment, and told we'd be charged. Good service.

Great butternut bisque. You have to order it on a chilly evening! We tried a few sushi rolls and they were great.
