"Advised by the server that any item on the regular menu was available ala carte, we ordered the lamb chops. Shocked to find out upon presentation of the bill that the three small, very good chops were $52.50! The tasting menu was only $64 and the fixed price menu $44. Definitely the most expensive ala carte entree we have encountered in many years, especially in this current economic times. Lesson learned, inquire on deviating from the set menu."

"231 Ellsworth is an excellent choice for a night out on the mid-peninsula without the hassle of going to San Francisco. The Prix Fixe menu has a number of wonderful choices and is a relative bargain, especially when paired with their selected wines. The food was well prepared and presented. The wines paired very, very well with each course and dish. I will not hesitate to return."

"Very disappointing. We've actually felt the food has been in decline over the past couple of years, and this visit only confirmed that the magic is gone. The food was uninteresting, hot food came cool, flavors were underwhelming, fresh bread seemed like store bought dinner rolls. And very pricey for what you get. Service was still good, for what it's worth. For same price, Viognier is a much better bet, to say nothing of places in Palo Alto, Menlo Park and in SF."
