Diner Reviews
  • "Love to go to Resposado any time. It has a great casual atmosphere with excellent food. The service keeps getting better - good job! The street tacos are fun, the guacamole is a standard order, and the main dishes are full of complex flavors. Very fresh ceviche options & specials. Love going for lunch or dinner."

  • "2nd time I've been to this restaurant and it most definitely is loud, but you get use to it and it is part of the liveliness. Good and varied selection of food to choose from, perfect size proportions and friendly, efficient staff."

  • "We had gone here before and always loved the inventive food and drinks menus. This time we opted for a few small plates, since we had a late lunch! Everything was absolutely tasty: the shrimp empanadas, the spicy ceviche, the meatballs were all perfectly seasoned and went great with margueritas and beer! Will stop by again and enjoy the great food!"

  • "Great food; intolerable noise when all tables full"

  • "The food here is delicious but they absolutely try to rush you out. Our appetizers arrived within 30 seconds of ordering them, my mom and I were puzzled by how our waiter even had time to put our order into the kitchen. Within 5 minutes our waiter tried to take our apps away before we were done eating. We said to him we had sat down less than 10 minutes ago and would like to continue eating... He said he would happily hold our main course until we were ready. Unfortunately, by the time our food came you could tell it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The food was look warm but we still enjoyed the taste (although we wished it had been hot). For the money spent, I'd rather eat where you are not being pushed out the door."

  • "I have eaten here before and it has been better. The food today was good, but nothing in particular to write about. Try Joya on University also if you are into this sort of cuisine."

  • "This place is comparable to some of the nicer (white table cloth) restaurants in Mexico City. Try the bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer...they are different and outstanding. Chef is very creative. Try the beer braised pork or crepes. Also somewhere hidden on the menu is Mexican hot chocolate (w/ a hint of chile). Not under dessert, but highly worth searching for / inquiring about."

  • "We went there for my birthday brunch. We had made reservations but the restaurant was not very full. It is quite spacious and sunny and very nice for a weekend brunch/Lunch. There were not many brunch options for vegetarians so I would recommend this place for lunch or dinner if you don't eat meat. My husband ate the huevos oaxaque without the bacon and I chose from the lunch menu ( chille poblano). The food was good, the portions were just right. We also tried the dessert ( caramel banana upside down cake with salted caramel ice cream). It was excellent, the ice cream was not too sweet or salty and paired perfectly with the cake. The restaurant is a bit expensive so we would go there for a special occasion ."

  • "Reviews warned NOISY but I thought how noisy could it be. Omigosh. Noisy beyond belief. Energetic as a descriptor does not accurately describe it. On top of that the management was indifferent to the problem and rude to us when we brought it up. There are ways to tell a client “no” without seeming rude and uncaring. So if you want what I would call abusive noise and bad treatment at the hands of management then try Reposado. But don’t say you weren't warned. I should add that the food is good. To be fair. But even though the food was good, the noise will keep all in our party from ever going back. Guess this restaurant wants to be a bar and not a dining experience."

  • "Everything about the evening was perfect! up on arriving, our table was not quite ready so we went to the bar to have a drink. The bar was packed, but the bartenders were on it and we were greeted and served very quickly. The food was great and our server was very good. Definitely recommend for a great evening."

  • "The staff was very accommodating to our party. We brought our baby and they put us at a table that helped out a lot with that. That being said I wouldn't bring your baby here or young children it's not the place for them. Now on to the service, our waitress was very nice and came to check on us with perfect timing. The food was great as well, all the way from the drinks to the desserts. They also have a pretty good tequila selection. We are definitely looking forward to going back and would recommend it to anyone."

  • "Met SF friends hom we hadn't seen for awhile for dinner here on a week night; there were several large parties, and noise level was through the roof. Considered getting up and going somewhere else. We stayed, the food was pleasant enough, but we had sore throats from shrieking all night. Have been coming here for years, but if this is the trend, we won't consider it again. Plus, chips and salsa, that used to be free, now cost $3.00. Come on, folks. At the prices of the food and drink, the profit should be enough to cover a few pennies' worth of chips and a little salsa. It really shows a greed factor and a lack of grace. You could at least provide the first round free, and then charge if it's that important to the bottom line."

  • "Reposada has good food in a nice space. But it was so busy that our waiter forgot to bring an appetizer that we had ordered, and then forgot to bring an entree after that! The guacamole was great, and I really enjoyed my sides of grilled veggies and corn on the cob. I will most likely go back, but I will plan a lot of time for the experience, and not be in a rush to get my food. (The people next to us had to flag down their waiter and ask if they could please order.)"

  • "This was my first visit and I was impressed. This is not classic "tacos and burritos" Mexican food. The menu is interesting and diverse. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Highly recommended."

  • "Been here many times and never disappointed. Love the margaritas and mojitos. Guacamole and chips are a must. I've never been disappointed with my entrée selection, I love their grilled salmon. I live in Palo Alto and this is one of my favorite places. My only minor complaint is noise level, it quite loud."

  • "This was my second visit. Our first experience was on a Thursday evening dinner, which was very vibrant, exciting, with a great waiter who recommended drink, appetizer, and dinner specials. I couldn't wait to come back, so I set up a lunch meeting with a colleague on a Friday. I was surprised that the restaurant was only about a third full. No specials, at least they were not offered by our waiter. The waiter was very average and not engaging at all. It really made the overall experience of an empty restaurant with a boring waiter very average. Food was good, but the overall experience was not one that would make me go out of my way to go there for lunch. I'll try it again for dinner to see if we just had an exceptional first visit."

  • "The 4 of us were shouting across the table. And we were shocked to find out out that the birthday cake I brought for my girlfriend would have cost us a $5 per person serving fee!!! Outrageous. Took the wind out of our celebration."

  • "I had a birthday dinner for my husband here with 8 guests. It was fantastic. While the place was loud, we managed to enjoy the dinner. Reposado is one of our favorites. It's always loud but the food and drinks are so great we tolerate the noise. The service is sometimes spotty. All-in-all they are very accommodating."

  • "I'm a big fan of Reposado. I love the inventive menu, the margaritas, and the fun atmosphere. This time we made our whole meal of small plate appetizers plus soup and salad. Lots of variety. Each dish was fabulous."

  • "A cool Mexican joint with upscale food that would please any palate----easy to get into at the last minute if you don't go too late, because it's so big."

  • "If you don't mind loud, open air seating, dining at Reposado is definitely an opportunity to enjoy gourmet Mexican food with a happening crowd scene. You feel like you are on the town while in the restaurant. I recommend the halibut ceviche for flavor (small portion), the queso fundido (guilty pleasure if on a diet), the strawberry Margarita and the bohemia-braised lamb shank. It was falling off the bone, great flavors and not too fatty. The duck enchilada appetizer was not very flavorful (a little dry). Solid beer list, which included a great Belgian golden ale La Chouffe and Allagash White + lots of Mexican beers, of which Bohemia is my favorite. The mole chicken and seafood crepes also were enjoyed by my companions. Thumbs up!"

  • "I come here pretty regularly, but this is the first time that the service was pretty subpar. My server lacked attention to detail. He also messed up my order. He was nowhere to be found so I had to (politely) return it to another server. He came back and gave me attitude because of his mistake, and was annoyed when I confirmed that the dish was gluten free. Keep in mind, I am being polite through this entire process. It just left a really sour note on the date I was on. I've been working in food and service for several years, and Reposado really needs to step up their service training, especially for the type of ambiance they are going for. Also, the hostess was very flighty and cold. Not pleasant to be greeted by someone like that."

  • "A group of 10 of us went for a farewell lunch on a Friday. We didn't all show up at the same time but the restaurant sat the initial group and handled the stragglers with ease. Our waiter wasn't overly friendly but was competent. The chips and salsa are good, and the guacamole is great. My favorite thing about this restaurant is the vegetarian menu. Lots of choices and very well done. You can eat healthy here or you can overindulge. Many at our table had the margaritas which were pricey but good. I had a glass of Chardonnay which was just OK. Overall, a great experience. Not cheap, but great experience."

  • "All fresh, delicious and innovative. Best modern Mexican food I've ever had. And stunning dining room and bar. Excellent service and everything done perfectly. Much appreciate this Reposado's addition to the Palo Alto restaurant scene! I've enjoyed both lunches and dinners there and have always had a consistently memorable and delicious meal. I love the new paintings, too. : )"

  • "A very tasty new favorite! The Guacamole and Chips were so good. The chips are made in house and are warm and fresh! (Salsa is great too!) The Hamachi Ceviche was amazing...I would have ordered another if they didn't have so many dishes I wanted to try! The Empanadas de Camaron were also delicious. The Vegetarian Tacos were the only item I didn't love...but then again I was already pretty stuffed. My husband loved the Cordero en Barbacoa and tried really hard to eat every last morsel. Our server (John) was great! We never wanted anything...he was very attentive and friendly. We will be going back!"

  • "While the drinks were good but not great, the food was pretty stellar. The menu included so much more than burritos and tacos. The food was high quality Mexican inspired dishes. I would certainly go back despite the price tag on most of the menu options."

  • "I have been here before.. the service is always perfect.. the food is great.. I can recommend 99% of the dishes on the menu.. the Ceviches are great, the sopa Azteca is perfect, the Mole and the barbacoa are excellent... if I ever try something that disappoints I will let you know.."

  • "We had heard about this place for a while and were really looking forward to amazing food. The food was so so. My appetizer was the stuffed date - it was quite good. 3 out of the 4 of us had the blue corn crepes with seafood (although only 2 of us ordered it). Um. Let's say not one of us finished them. For me, the worst part was the filling. I had expected pieces of crab, shrimp etc. What we got was a mash of seafood and not clearly fresh, e.g. pretty sure the crab was canned. Someone else felt the worst was the gloppy sauce. The other entree on our table was the shrimp with sweet potato chips. Weird and somewhat confused - had cannelli beans beneath the shrimp and a pile of the chips. Go for the bar - tons of tequila"
