My wife and enjoyed the food very much. This is not your traditional Mexican cuisine. The food is a modern and fresh take on mexican food and we absolutely loved it. The portions were good sized but we felt that the appetizers were a bit too expensive for what we got. All appetizers at $15 and above and we felt it was a bit much. The service was good and the ambiance was really nice too. We will definitely consider coming back.

This second visit to Reposado was even better than the first. The true test of a good restaurant is to impress you every time you visit; Reposado delivers. My first visit several months ago was very nice this visit was even better. I had the Reposado version of a Caesar Salad with pepito's and sweet corn, which actually was large enough to share and two small plates for my entree: duck confit enchilada's and street tacos. The flavors were great and the combination of the three were more than enough food and some to share. The special margarita was good, and the beer selection is adequate.

Food was good, but not really Mexican. So many of our groups food was only Mexican via the tortillas. Food was well done, but just not Mexican enough. I would not go there if I were hungering for Mexican food.

I've eaten here about five times over the last two years and every time the food is amazing and the service horrendous. It is slow, inattentive and indifferent. If you don't know what you want when your server comes by, good luck seeing him/her within the next 30 minutes, and they act all peeved if you try to flag them down. Annoying given the prices, but the ambiance and location are hard to beat and the food is off the charts delicious.

This is a Mexican fusion restaurant and not necessarily authentic Mexican. And that's why we go there, for the unique menu and delicious food. Our dinner this week didn't disappoint. The appetizers (ceviche, oysters, mixed seafood) and entrees (seafood crepes, pibil, seafood stew) were wonderful (as was the bread pudding dessert which we didn't think we could fit into our full tummies, but somehow managed to polish off. Service was great, despite the crowd. Only disappointment was the Paloma cocktail, which was much better times before.

Reposado is one of our "occasion" restaurants. We think the food is interesting and tasty, and the service has always been excellent. We especially like that the servers know details about the wines, vs. just saying "it's very good" when asked about a specific wine. The prices are a bit on the high side -- the entrees are about $5 to $10 higher than we'd prefer, so we don't dine there more than every few months. If the prices were lower, I'd have given five stars overall, instead of four, but we keep coming back because we really enjoy the overall experience!

I really want to go back to Reposado but I doubt I will. It has a great atmosphere and nice vibe. It is loud but you know that going into it. The food was good as well. My issue is portion size. It's ridiculous. I eat at many restaurants at this price point and the portions always satisfy my appetite. Here, we all left wanting more. The shrimp entree consisted of 5 shrimp with some pretty fried strips. That's it. The lamb entree was 2 thin (single) chops and a couple of veggies. The dates appetizer was 2 pieces. It's bad enough they charge for chips and salsa but at least provide a decent portion of food.

First time at this restaurant and enjoyed the setting and found the menu to be interesting. Our appetizer and entrees were quite good. Only issue was that the service was a bit slow as it was close to five minutes before anyone came by our table who could take our order. We were served water on arrival but not by a member of the wait staff. Will return and hope service is a little better.

We really enjoyed our evening but the food was just fine. Nothing wowed me, and the queso was quite disappointing. It was so overpowered by the cooking oil used to make it not stick that there was no flavor to enjoy. I loved the bar and the bar scene. The bartenders were great and drinks were great too. Not sure I would want to spend that much money for the food, but definitely would return to the bar.

Love going to Reposado for girls night out when a group of six of us meet regularly. Requested our favorite table and got it! Noise level is sometimes off the charts but it's because everybody loves the energy and frivolity. Stuffed dates are always delectable. Tacos are tasty treats for light eaters. My favorite is the crepe with crab. Server doesn't mind at all splitting the tab six ways.

We've been going to Reposado quite a bit since it opened. Lately the recipes seem a bit long-in-the-tooth. "One note" food is how one of the diners in our group referred to it. I had a pisco sour that was well made, but lacked any taste! Same with the food. This is a great place for a business lunch but we're going elsewhere for real food.

Great menu for Sunday brunch. We met family from out of town here on Sunday afternoon and it was perfect. Great food but can be a bit noisy (especially with screaming children) because of the acoustics so go at an "off" time. About 1pm on Sunday is when things calmed down a bit.

I understand and appreciate the concept of small plates and tasting many different items but as good as it is, the prices are high for the amount you get and that includes the drinks. They are usually busy so clearly they can get away with the pricing. We live in downtown Palo Alto and would probably stop by more often but for the pricing of the SMALL plates.

  • Playing it Safe

Reposado has so much potential. I have had really great meals there. However, over the past two years, it seems that they are really trying to play it safe. The food isn't as spicy (or interesting) as it should be. It's food - it's cooked well. However, the real opportunity to make it shine is through innovative sauces and spice. Also, the salsa is served in tiny prep bowls in a manner that makes it difficult to eat - as if they are conserving it. For the prices they charge, the salsa shouldn't be so obviously restricted in portion size. The puerco pibil used to be phenomenal - but it's more subtle than it used to be, much less spicy, and the side mango-jicama-cucumber salad is much less boldly spicy than it used to be.

  • mixed feelings...$8 for chips?
    amoebaVIP
    Dined on 8/23/2014
The food is nearly always very good here & it was again today. The charge for chips irritates some, but I haven't minded. The thing is, the service has always been a bit lax. Good in some ways, but infrequent. Along w/the bag of chips they deliver 3 tiny bowls of salsa to a table of 3 adults. Getting refills of salsa is VERY unlikely & frustrating. For that reason, I tend to ask for a larger bowl of pico. Yesterday I did it again, but this time was a bit startled when the bill came to find we'd been charged $8 for the chips and salsa. Just one serving of chips & what seemed to be day-old pico. Their salsa is usually fresh, chunky & delish. This batch was from another day...refrigerated tomatoes....not to standard & the big charge.

Went for dinner, with reservations of course, on a Thursday night at 6:45. The place was packed. A bit surprising since it was so early. From the moment the rather unfriendly hostess told us we would have to wait for our table, I was disappointed. The bar was completely full, which left my party no where to stand but in the middle of the room while waiting for our table. Very awkward situation for us and servers as well. Once seated, the food and drinks were good but service was very rushed. The chips and salsa were whisked away from the table before I had a chance to try them all. Twice I had to tell the bus staff I was not finished with my plate. Did enjoy my meal but felt turning tables here was more important than the dining experience.

Made a reservation for a meetup group through open table and no credit card information was requested during the process. As usual, many people flaked at the last minute. When I arrived, only 2 of the 10 people who rsvp'd were there. I immediately let the waitress know that the others would not join, so they took the tables away, which were used immediately for other customers. The check comes at the end with a $105 fee on top of the bill for the 7 empty chairs. I spoke to the manager, who explained (with slight attitude) this is their policy. he said he would take care of it, but only this one time. They could have handled it differently. The policy should be explained at reservation. And they shouldn't surprise you on bill.
