Diner Reviews
  • "While the food was good, the noise level made for an overall poor dining experience. I found it very difficult to focus on the dinner table conversation. Would not recommend for babyboomers like me with hearing on the decline."

  • "I am a customer from the first day of opening the restaurant and years later still having the same menu"

  • "Upscale Mexican in downtown Palo Alto. The food's really tasty, the staff is helpful and nice. My only problem is the noise level. I guess with high ceilings and concrete walls that there's only so much you can do to dampen the sound of a bustling, full restaurant. I enjoyed it overall, and I'll be back again."

  • "Upscale Mexican. Some of the sauces are to die for. I had the bean filled ravioli--just ok. The crepes con mariscos dish is very good. The guacamole is very good --chips are great. The small margarita is very small with lots of ice--could be a bit more generous. The empanadas and accompanying sauce is definitely worth having!"

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was delicious. Very upscale feel and friendly. Great margaritas! Reservations recommended. My husband is a man of few words and just said, Excellent! I think that says it all!"

  • "The ambiance is great, and it's definitely an upscale dining experience. But the food isn't up to the mark at all - expect to pay upwards of $20 for exactly three small bites of mediocre food. Plus, it took about 40 minutes for a relatively small order to arrive. It's especially bad for vegetarians."

  • "Good food, but the drinks are ridiculously expensive given they are about 90% ice. I had Sangria, others had the traditional margarita - something like $18 a pop, all ice."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "This is our third time here celebrating different occasions. The food, drinks and service is consistently delicious! The margaritas are smooth and sneak up on ya in a fun way. Love the decor and open feel to the restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit spreading the joy of Reposado!!"

  • "I took my family here yesterday, and won't be returning. The meals were WAY overpriced, and the food was lackluster. Poor value for the price. The server was virtually absent. The atmosphere draws the customer in, but once you are in the doors, the charm is gone."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Reposado is a great traditional Mexican restaurant. They make their own tortillas and the menu has a lot of variety, from street tacos to typical upper scale mexican dishes. The atmosphere is great and has great service. definitely recommend it!"

  • "This is a very popular spot for lunch and dinner. The wine list is good; the food is o.k. but plentiful. Chips and Guacamole particularly good!"

  • "arrived 20 min early for a 6:30 res only to be told our 5 pm res had been cancelled as a no show. Fortunately had res on phone. We were seated, but made to feel it was our fault for the error. Table tiny, restaurant so crowded wait staff and guests could only move sideways through aisles. Wait person a bright spot - professional, accommodating, knew her menu. Was as as efficient as the environment would allow. Food very good, prices about par for a Palo Alto restaurant dinner. Left with a headache from the noise level - it was very unpleasantly loud. A disappointment especially since this was a birthday treat for my husband."

  • "It was my first time there and the place was rockin' and busy. Lots of groups (it was Father's day) but the service and food were good. Reposado had no issues handling the number of people. I would go back to try other things on their menu. They are a tad pricey.... but then they are not your average Mexican food!"

  • "We were visiting Palo Alto for a college graduation so I made reservations for a large party on a recommendation from my brother in law. I loved the decor and ambience. Our server was lukewarm, had better service in Paris last week so that should tell you something. Most everyone ordered the seafood crepe (I did so on recommendation from the waiter) and I have to say it was ok, maybe even substandard. The flavor was good (not great) and my crepe was not hot. The rice that accompanied the crepe lacked flavor. Honestly I prefer the lime rice from Chipotle over their rice. I can't say I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "The place is jammed but I am not sure why. Feels like a factory setting and truly that is how the food comes out --- quick and not even all together. Also the waiter had a style that is "unprofessional / used car sales man type" --- he got us ordering guacamole before we even realized it was a cost and then the service was poor throughout. The drinks are watered down even when I said little ice and the food was fair at best. We were disappointed because we had friends joining us for the evening and the place was recommended to me. There are so many other places to try -- skip this place...way overrated!"

  • "If you're like me and love Mexican food but want something more sophisticated than tacos and burritos, this is the place for you! A great menu with the best of southwestern flavors prepared very well. The service was great. The place is a bit noisy so don't expect to come for a romantic dinner."

  • "Everything was good - nice food, vibrant ambience and good service. The only thing I didn't like was the $5 charge/slice for BYO dessert. It was my birthday and my friends had gone there earlier to give them the cake -my favorite one - to surprise me at the end of dinner. They did a good job bringing out the cake at the right time to surprise me; however, I think $5/slice charge is too much. (We had a whole cake but had 3 slices so 15 bucks..) I don't know if this is the norm in the bay area (I moved from NYC recently) but in NYC I never paid the fee per slice in a similar level restaurants. One place didn't charge anything if we ordered a couple of their dessert. Other than this, I had a good time with my friends. I would go back."

  • "We've tried to get into this restaurant many times, but reservations are hard to come by. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. But we weren't served a salad that we ordered and our water glasses never got filled without asking. Maybe it was an off night. But it's too expensive to feel ignored. "

  • "Very special birthday celebration with the four of us and the bill was about $200.00 included two for drinks and no dessert. Our large round table was next to the front open window of a a busy street; lots of elbow room and plenty of visual entertainment at the table. Chips and guacamole were brought in a fun funnel with side attached salsa dishes. Our entrees were picture perfect, Art Neuveau plates and very tasty. I'm eating vegan with added fish and I had lots of choices. I made our reservations on line, very easy, a confirmation was sent and our table was waiting for us when we walked through the door at the appointed time. This is my new favorite birthday celebration restaurant. Great Margaritas!"

  • "Server assigned to my table of 10 also served as bartender. She spent more time behind the bar than attending to us.She did not take appetizer or drink orders from each guest. Appetizers and desserts were left in middle of table with no explanation of who ordered it or the name/description of the food item. I usually leave a 20% tip, and would have only left 15% but there was an automatic 16% gratuity included in the check. Though the food was good, I would not host another large dinner party at this restaurant."

  • "Sat upstairs where it's a little quieter and good for the kids. Food was very good except the Caesar dressing was not garlicky enough. Prices are a bit high but fitting for the cool setting and for Palo Alto. Service was friendly, eager; some trainees the night we went. Will come back soon!"

  • "So loud!!! It likely reflects how popular this place is, but don't expect to go at peak dining hours and expect to have a conversation at less than a yell. Overall I love this restaurant, but will try to avoid going at busy hours or intending to have an intimate, quiet, experience."

  • "Whenever I have a guest in town or I'm meeting someone for a business lunch, I go here. I love the big open space and the food is good; Mexican dishes with a touch of California cuisine."

  • "So not only did the night start off waiting more then 30 minutes past our reservation time to get seated, and there was a 4 top that could have easily accommodate our group of 5 as I stated to the hostess, even once seated the service was extremely slow and bad. It took over 20 mins to get our glasses of wine and margaritas once we ordered. 40+ mins for chips and guacamole. But was most aggravating was that groups seated after us orders were taken first. The food was good but there are a lot of places that have good food around the Palo Alto but actually have good service to go along with. I actually cannot think of any place I've been that has had this terrible of service. My advice skip Reposado"

  • "I had a hard time choosing a restaurant for Mother's Day, but when my friend took me for an early dinner and we sat at the bar, I knew it was the right place. High ceilings, windows that run the length of the entrance, and flavorful food. For several minutes, we all tried to figure out what was put in the guacamole to make it so good. A fine place for special occasions."

  • "Many months my wife and I planned to have a meal here. The drinks were okay and the food was good but when evaluated on a 'bang for buck' scale, this ranks on the lower end. If ranked on the 'good food' scale, the quality and presentation are excellent and you do get what you pay for. Will we return? Probably not but I would recommend this place with the advice as stated above. Professionally friendly staff and good service."

  • "The Tequila Flights were Awesome! Great place for tastings!! Not so great for groups though. The group table is so big that you can't really talk to anyone except the ones beside you. Also they gave us an unnecessarily hard time about a reservation glitch that wasn't our fault. Then they tried to tell open table that we didn't honor the reservation when our group paid over $900 for food and drinks. Some of us might have stayed longer for more but they gave us such a hard time that we bailed."

  • "I went here at 4:30 in the afternoon after spa day with some girlfriends. It had a great open atmosphere and there were quite a few people considering the time. The appetizers were great specifically the fundido was fabulous. Their sangria went perfectly with the food. The service was okay but nothing to rave about. "

  • "Food was excellent, a bit too expensive. Great wine and cocktails. Very noisy, need to raise your voice in order to carry a carry a conversation."

  • "I've been here several times and I like it overall. The food is of high quality, love the guacamole, grilled salmon and seafood crepes. Drinks such as margaritas, sangria and wines by the glass are very good. My only complaint is stinginess on alcohol content. The margaritas come in small glasses filled with 60% ice and 40% drink and a scant amount of tequia in it. . The glass of red sangria was also watered down. "

  • "This restaurant has such great reviews. I thought this would be the perfect place for Cinco de Mayo. I understand for a such a day that even with reservations we had to wait at the bar for a table. No problem. But our waitress was absent minded the whole night. Even gave us the wrong check at the end. Perhaps more staff on Cinco de Mayo at a Mexican restaurant could have solved that. The food is over priced. My chicken mole was fatty.. Seemed like a piece of cheap chicken covered with mole sauce. I've dined for brunch at this restaurant before. Wasn't impressed so I wanted to give it another try for dinner. I was embarrassed I picked this restaurant for my out of town guest. The Bay Area has so many great restaurants to choose from. "

  • "The food at Reposado is fantastic and the Margaritas are great! Our server was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. Only complaint is that it is very loud so it can be hard to have a conversation with your table."
