"This bistro-style restaurant is aimed at people who don't really like Chinese food and know very little about it. The white rice is cooked al dente (bleh) and most dishes taste only of soy sauce. The ingredients are high quality but only the orange chicken and braised tofu had real flavor. "Spicy" is a Caucasian joke; none of the dishes listed as 'hot' were even close to it. My aged MIL, who abhors chiles of any kind, didn't even realize the orange chicken was supposed to be spicy! Renee's is vastly inferior to Ching Hua/Alameda if you want bistro-style Chinese. They would be laughed out of San Francisco if they tried to open up in the Richmond or Sunset."

"This is absolutely the best Chinese restaurant I've been to, and I've been enjoying my favorite cuisine for decades throughout North America. Part of my pleasure in Renee's may be that the food is organic and locally sourced, and since I have been eating this way as much as possible for many years, my taste buds crave the clean, high quality tastes and textures of better ingredients. Each dish was beautifully prepared. Orange chicken was divine: tender morsels of chicken, slightly crisp, a perfect sauce. Yes, a few dollars more per dish but totally worth it and still a bargain compared to French or other romantic places. Beautiful interior, classical music, fabulous service. I can't wait to go back!"

"While Renee's place was expensive but it was worth it, except for charging $5 for a small pot of green tea. the special, crispy chicken morsels, was great underneath a whole lot of hot chili peppers!"
