Renaissance CafeQuite possibly the best foodQuite possibly the best food in the Salina area, and more than worth the 10 minute drive south to Assaria! We have never had anything which we didn't absolutely love!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I order two differentMy wife and I order two different Ribeye preparations and both were superb!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMold schoolI love the old school house and the decerations make interesting topics of conversation. But the food is outstanding. I try something diefferent each time and i'm never disapponted. The red pepper sauce on the salmon was fantastic, my husband even added some to his pasta dish. He loved the 3 different types of pork in his pasta. Wonderful deserts and they even help with your wine selections. Great place ******5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousAfter dining at this facility I was impressed with the amazing taste of the food and the ambience. The old school house was beautiful to dine in and the food for the money was great if you get the right pasta! Wonderful experience.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good. AThe food was very good. A very nice dining experience, will definitely be back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNew menu items a hitWe have dined at the Renaissance previously....so sure wanted to try some of the new menu items. We had the pork tratoria and the braised beef tips and polenta. Both were excellent with the polenta triangles fried up and they contained parmesen which gave them a real kick and were complimentary to the tender beef tips. The pork was a nice thick chop wrapped with bacon and grilled then served with a grainy mustard and horseradish sauce. It was great. Two great additions to the menu with a couple more new ones to try another time. The liver & onions was ordered by one in our party and was pronounced very, very good. An unusual item to have on an upscale restaurant menu....but presented with class and great taste.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticI have always had a fantastic meal when I go here. I have a cousin and her husband that comes from Wyoming to visit. I took them the last time they were here and they were blown away. This was a return visit , at their request, to the renaissance Café and the dining experience was exemplary. They still talk about the food. I go here when I want something special and I always recommend it to my friends.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find in Kansas' heartland...The small, unassuming community of Assaria, KS, affords a surprisingly delightful dining experience available at the Renaissance Cafe. From its quaint setting in a re-purposed school building to the quite varied menu selections and excellent wine choices, our group of four were wonderfully satisfied. The menu has an Italian tilt but not in the usual way. One of their best sellers is Liver and Onions! One highlight for me was the small serving of palette cleansing Lemon-Basil sorbet offered between the salad and main courses.Yumm! The wait staff was exceptional as well. Knowledgeable, thoughtful and unhurried...we were able to enjoy each course as well as plenty of time for conversation. A real find...4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNothing else like it anywhere! We have been enjoying this restaurant for seven years and have never been disappointed. The food is consistently wonderful the menu diverse and the service friendly and efficient. My very favorite menu item is the Steak Venato. It's the best steak dish in Kansas. It's a very special, unique restaurant located in a tiny town inside of an old school gymnasium! Seating is above the gym floor in a cozy, warm atmosphere. There's nothing else like it anywhere!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our entire timeWe enjoyed our entire time in your restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great! It is one of the best places in Kansas to get tuna steak. Mine was fixed just right. Thanks.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden Gem, don't miss out! Some of the best Italian food I've ever had. This place was fantastic, we were visiting from Kansas City but if we lived closer to Assaria this would be a weekly stop!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMvariety of options on thevariety of options on the menu and special attention to all by chef Kevin O/Brien.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorite placesOne of our favorite places to dine in the Salina area. The food is great and unique atmosphere. Do make a reservation if at all possible. Sign up for their email newsletter to get the weekend specials and notice of wine dinners.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the few really goodOne of the few really good restaurants in the Wichita area. The menu is inspired and well executed. I shared the gnocchi and spicy sausage dish and the pork and olives dish. I would order both again though the pork was a bit dry and tough. My only other complaints are small. The bread they serve is clearly microwaved and dry. It falls apart in a bad way. I have heard they serve good soups but did not try one as they called their soup garden vegetable which does not make me want to order it. The soup seemed rather boring compared to the rest of their menu. All of that said, this place is well worth the drive and I will be back next time I am in the Wichita area.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful dining experience! Our party of three enjoyed the penne with beef tips in vodka sauce, prime rub of tuna, and the lightly crusted trout. All the dishes were fantastic, our server was lovely, and the chef even came out to chat with us for a few minutes. A perfect evening in our books!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMPrice/qualityAlways supported small family operated diners. Expect to spend some money here, but its well worth it.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is consistently freshThe food is consistently fresh and good. We like to go for their specials, which have never disappointed. We often share a half order of pasta around the table to complement our entree. The creamy potatoes are wonderful and if you get the chance to try the walnut vinaigrette on your salad, I highly recommend it! The prices are a little high for our area and the service can be interesting but it's a fun, unique and delicious place to dine.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
