Diner Reviews
  • "A beautiful building, Remliks could only be inherited and then restored. Imagine the cost of building with real timber, alabaster and terra cotta finish. It would be too expensive to pull off. The restaurant should be on a historical register (perhaps it is). The food is 4 out of 5, and sometimes a 6! I would recommend keeping the menu both static and dynamic. For example, the sushi bar is tops..don't mess with it. But its good to see duck and other quasi novelties on the menu as well. For someone to come in and COMPLETELY re do the interior and the menu, (as so many chains are prone to) would be a disaster. The wait staff is outstanding. "

  • "We go to Remlik's every 2-3 months. Six of us were dining on this occasion. The waitress started off friendly, but that quickly went down hill. We had to ask what the soup of the day was and it took a turn shortly after that. We went at 8 pm and the restaurant was half full at the beginning of out meal and cleared out by the end so no excuse for bad service. We had to ask for bread, water, and various drink refills (which were metwith an eye roll). We are easy to please and in no way demanding so was very puzzling response. There was a busboy who did come with water and bread after asking (perhaps she was irritated with him..but took it out on us)."

  • "My husband and I had been there once before and found the oysters and cocktails excellent. The building and ambience are first rate. We had dinner, but I don't remember it, neither positively nor negatively. We were excited to invite 4 friends for a restaurant week lunch. The food was terrible - fish and chips (French fries) soggy, greasy, small portion of fish in a huge, greasy breading. Some of us had burgers - very disappointing: large, dry roll, OK meat. I ordered well-done; it was pink in the middle. The chips that came with it seemed homemade, again, very, very greasy. We felt terrible that we brought friends to such a bad meal."

  • "The location is very interesting a period renovated building but the food portions are small and not notable for flavor. We were traveling through the area and this seemed like the only interesting option. We requested a quiet area but it was quite noisy within a 1/2 hour of our arrival. The muzak was not a help. Jazz would give this place a lift and a bit of class. Seems to be the after work meeting spot."

  • "I dined at Remliks during the 2014 restaurant week. It was my first time at the restaurant and I found it very inviting. The ambience was nice and the appetizer (garlic knots) and meal (burger) I had was some of the best food I have had in Binghamton. Our server was also very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come here again."

  • "I love food, and I have eaten at most of the restaurants around Binghamton. Nothing I have eaten so far in town has come close to the meal I was served at Remlik's. Granted this was only one dining experience, I was blown away by the quality of food. We first had some raw oysters which were delicious, and for an entree I had the crispy duck confit. The confit was the best food I have ever had in Binghamton. The duck was cooked to perfection, with a crispy shell surrounding tender juicy and flavorful duck flesh, paired with mascarpone grits- something I had never seen before, but being cheesy and rich but mellow worked very very well in this meal. All in all, wonderful!"

  • "Food and service were both good. We had sushi at the bar during happy hour which was better than expected. We wouldn't make this a regular hang out though, sushi menu was small but good for a quick bite and regular food portions were small for the price."

  • "The food and the service were excellent! The menu choices were of great variety as well. The only thing I would ask is that they turn the lights up just a bit. It was very hard to read the menu and I do like to see what I'm eating at least a a little bit."

  • "Everyone loves their job here. You can tell from the time you walk in the door until you leave. You just feel special. Everyone is very attentive from the hostess to the bus boys and all in between. And on top of the greatest service the food is excellant. Don't miss the chance to dine here."

  • "This was my fourth visit to Remlicks in the last year. Obviously, I like the restaurant. It is by far one if the best, if not the best restaurant in the greater Binghamton area. The cuisine, service and atmosphere are excellent!"

  • "My wife and I had a wonderful quiet dinner, the atmosphere was nice and our waiter was very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a fine dining experience."

  • "Food was very good, service was not as attentitive near the end (coffee was not refilled) but overall service was very good, and menu had a large selection for New Year's Eve."

  • "Really enjoyed my New Years Eve meal at Remlik's. Not only was the service excellent for it being a very busy night, but I never felt rushed and the pace of the meal was perfect. I ordered the crab legs and sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus, all of which were wonderfully cooked. Have been there quite a few times, and they are also good for a group and after work drinks! Creative menu, and one could have a great time with friends just ordering appetizers and drinks. City feel and you can dress to the nines or business casual. It's proximity to the arena, the theaters and other local attractions make it a great starting point for any evening."

  • "The wait staff is very attentive without being overbearing. Timing on courses of food is perfect. Very big food selection, almost too much because it is hard to pick one thing for an entree' The only issue is the noise level when there is a large crowd. It has a high ambient noise that can make it tough to have a conversation. That said, everything else is so positive that it far out weighs any negatives."

  • "Go to Remlik's like you mean it. Remlik's is for special occasions and when you want to impress. We went for a casual lunch during the holidays. 3 of us were wedged near a large group whose conversation overlapped ours. The waiter kept bumping into my chair as he attended their table. 2 companions ordered simple lunches -- the burger, which was fine, and the fried fish, which was not. My 8 oz. sirloin was mouth-watering. The fried calamari appetizer was delicious. I have been here for dinner and the food and atmosphere were very impressive. I recommend going for dinner on a special occasion, not for a simple lunch."

  • "We had a good time, good meal, good server. The only caveat I have is that the menu is on the pricey side with too many surcharges for items that many restaurants include as a part of the meal. One example of which our server failed to inform us was that the crumbled blue cheese on a salad cost extra. It was very good blue cheese by the way, but not being informed removed one of the factors which might have governed our choice of dressing."

  • "Although it was a busy night, the hostess and wait staff were very accommodating. Everyone in our part of four enjoyed their meal, 2 tasty, well-cooked filet mignons, one huge pork chop special and a delicious roast chicken on a bed of flavorful vegetable "hash". The special soup of the day and the dinner salad were also excellent. There were nice mixed greens in the salad and a garnish of shredded cucumber and carrots. We will return."

  • "Great restaurant. The tuna poke was incredible - in fact - we sampled a lot of different apps and they were all amazing. Great drinks and atmosphere. It wasn't a special occasion - but if it was - this would be a perfect place to go to celebrate. Our server was great - super knowledgeable and friendly."

  • "I took my best friend of 34 years to Remlik's as a special treat for her 50th birthday. We were given a great table, our server was fabulous, the food was delicious and beautifully presented, and we were not rushed. It was a wonderful experience for my friend who has never been to as nice a restaurant as Remlik's - the whole experience made her feel very special. She'll always remember it. Thank you!"

  • "We celebrated my husband's birthday at Remlik's this week and had a wonderful time! The oysters were --as usual--very fresh, very cold and totally delicious. The beef tartare is excellent. Duck confit with sweet and sour cherry sauce got excellent reviews. The salmon was a bit overcooked, but nicely presented and sauced. The restaurant is noisy (ask to sit along the banquette wall, which is slightly quieter) but that is largely due to the gorgeous historic room and the old tile floors. It's a lovely place!"

  • "My husband and I have had several date nights here and we are always very pleased... Our only wish would be for a little more privacy. It can be difficult to have a conversation if the person next to you is loud."

  • "Went there for a date night with my husband and we had a very good experience. Didn't have to wait long for hors deurves nor our drinks, and all of the premeal salads and soups came at very good timing with dinner being just wonderful. Our server was there whenever we needed and took extremely good care of us. The atmosphere is super!! we love it there!"

  • "This was a first time visit and left with an exceptional experience! The atmosphere was terrific. We had the raw bar platter and it was perfection. Delicious soups and salads. Entrees of fish and prime rib...delicious! Desserts were outstanding. The best service was provided by lovely Grace. Can't wait to return!"

  • "W/ a 6:45 resi I was concerned about the service. I was pleasantly surprised. The dining room was packed but we were seated promptly. I took the liberty of ordering appetizers for the table; fried oysters, fried calamri and the house chips. They were brought out in less than 10 minutes (all were fantastc, the chips were my favorite!). In fact we were all still lopking a the menues, so I ordererd a dozen raw oysters. They, too, were great. Loved the diverse menu; 3 of us had sandwiches (2 fried oysters and a beef on weck) 1 fish and chips and my son had the most expensive entre- shrimp risotto at $23. Again, all were excellent. Only the bengets (sp?) at dessert disappointed. Very reasonable, great service and food. I'd go back!"

  • "Took my son there during parents weekend at Binghamton University. Had a great table for the 5 of us, noise level was perfect. Food from salads to entrees was excellent. A little trouble with the drink orders, but overall, a place at the top of my list when going back. We thought Number 5 was the place to go, but now prefer here for the ambiance."

  • "We went to Remlik's on Saturday night with an old friend form of of town. We had gone there many times in the past and had great experiences. Now the menu had changed...no more shrimp with grits or beef short ribs, two of our favorites. Now, we found it hard to find something appealing to eat off the menu. I had prime rib that was so tough I had to ask for a different steak knife just to saw through it. Service was bad as well. Long waits and mixed up orders. Our coffee at the end of the meal came cold and without spoons, cream or sugar. By the time anyone checked on ti, we were just anxious to leave. The old Remlik's was our "go to" place for special occasions and fun dinners. Now, I think we'll find a different place. Sad."
