We travel to Binghamton frequently. There are good restaurants in this town, however there are limited great restaurants. We are foodies, in our travels we try to find the best that the town has to offer, I had given up on finding such a place in the Southern Tier. This was definitely a gem in the rough and we are happy we found it. Food was outstanding, not just your usual fare, the service was excellent, and the wine and cocktail list were very good. We could not believe we were in Binghamton! The noise level is high. It is a beautiful room with wonderful architecture, visually stunning. It is a large number of people enjoying their dining experience in an open room... We will be back on our next trip back to visit family.

One of the better dining spots in Binghamton. The ambiance is nice, though some of the rooms are quite noisy. Service is friendly. Fresh oysters and other seafood are the specialties. Non-seafood items are usually pretty good. However, at our last dinner there we ordered "roast chicken" and were served what appeared to be pre-cooked chicken breasts that were rubbery and tasteless. That said, we like the restaurant and would go back. Remlik's is right next to the Art Mission, a wonderful, two-screen independent movie theater, so it's great for dinner and and a movie. Good alternatives in the vicinity are the Lost Dog Cafe and Tranquil restaurant.

Although not the best steak I have had, the food was good. Others in my group found their dishes to be good as well: Ahi tuna and Veal Chop. My issue with the restaurant is in their "front of house" staffing. Apparently if you make a dinner reservation and wait for your table at the bar it is the diner's responsibility to keep checking if the table is ready. Hostess and/or manager will not advise guests the table is ready. When questioned about why others being seated ahead of us we were asked "is this your first time here"? Can't say I have ever been to a restaurant where you would not be told your table is ready. The manager was so impressed with us that she completely avoided our table or asking us about our dinner.

My wife and I had the beet appetizer, very good. I'm not a beet lover but the produce quality was undeniably high. Mrs had the filet mignon, excellent quality. I had the shrimp and grits. The tomato sauce overwhelmed the rest of the dish, less tomato imho. Service a little harried as the evening wore on, server was training someone and the place filled quickly and stayed busy. Server was pleasant. Dessert for me okay, cheesecake not in what people would think of as a classic style, . My wife had chocolate and peanut butter pie, she loved it. Not perfect, within striking distance though. Of course, we'll be back.

My husband and I are life-long Broome County residents but neither of us had eaten here before. We dined on the patio and loved it! Having received a gift certificate, we made a nice date out of it, but it is definitely special-occacion-only prices for us! The food was delicious but not above and beyond in our opinion. The wine our server recommended, however, was awesome!

Our appetizers ( oysters Rockerfeller and tuna) and entrees (shrimp with grits and linguini with white clam sauce) were terrific, the waitress (Lindsey) was friendly, fun to talk to and didn't rush us at all. The building's interior is beautiful and the parking is terrific. The house wine (we split a bottle), a merlot, was a good middle of the road table wine, very drinkable, not dry or sweet. We ate at 7:30, by then the early diners were finishing up and the crowd was at a minimum. With tip the total damages was $125, it was worth it. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.

I've been to Remlik's several times. The restaurant, located in the renovated Kilmer Building, is a beautiful venue. The food has always been good, but pricey. I've had the prime rib & two different pasta dishes & they all were cooked to perfection. That being said, the food is quite expensive. A dish of pasta with vodka creme sauce & chicken cost $23. The prime rib, at $31 was $10-$12 more than I've paid for a comparable prime rib at other establishments in the area. The service is always very good as well. The only problem I've ever had with the service was on two nights ago, a waiter spilled a whole glass of water on my shirt and lap. No big deal, accidents happen. At least comp me a drink for the inconvenience. I was offered nothing.

The waitress was great but the kitchen service not so great. Meat cooked improperly needing to be sent back multiple times.. No bread on the table for a very long time, had to keep asking... But, most of the food was delicious, appetizers were great. Entrees were okay, some better than others. Took reservation 35 mins after it was supposed to be. Not used to this type of service

I USED to dine at Remlik's once a week. I went on Mother's Day and opted to eat outside. We were the ONLY table. 10 minutes later a 4 top was seated. They were waited on FIRST by the owner and he basically ignored us. We asked to order food with our drink order and were asked to wait. He just schmoozed with the 4 top. When our appetizers finally came out, this 4 top starts smoking. There is no sign designating a smoking area. This is 2014. You can't even smoke on Wegman's outdoor patio. A $40 dollar steak comes with a side of SMOKE? DISGUSTING. I asked the hostess to go inside and she looked at us like we had three heads when I asked to be seated inside. I can't get over how little I was made to feel. I will never go back in there.

Decent experience. Food was good, well paced. Service was average at best. Nice atmosphere. In summarizing-By reputation, is considered one of the better places in area, but having dined in similar restaurants around the country, the service made it not worth the price. Would probably try it again, since the area is lacking of nicer places.

A beautiful building, Remliks could only be inherited and then restored. Imagine the cost of building with real timber, alabaster and terra cotta finish. It would be too expensive to pull off. The restaurant should be on a historical register (perhaps it is). The food is 4 out of 5, and sometimes a 6! I would recommend keeping the menu both static and dynamic. For example, the sushi bar is tops..don't mess with it. But its good to see duck and other quasi novelties on the menu as well. For someone to come in and COMPLETELY re do the interior and the menu, (as so many chains are prone to) would be a disaster. The wait staff is outstanding.

We go to Remlik's every 2-3 months. Six of us were dining on this occasion. The waitress started off friendly, but that quickly went down hill. We had to ask what the soup of the day was and it took a turn shortly after that. We went at 8 pm and the restaurant was half full at the beginning of out meal and cleared out by the end so no excuse for bad service. We had to ask for bread, water, and various drink refills (which were metwith an eye roll). We are easy to please and in no way demanding so was very puzzling response. There was a busboy who did come with water and bread after asking (perhaps she was irritated with him..but took it out on us).

My husband and I had been there once before and found the oysters and cocktails excellent. The building and ambience are first rate. We had dinner, but I don't remember it, neither positively nor negatively. We were excited to invite 4 friends for a restaurant week lunch. The food was terrible - fish and chips (French fries) soggy, greasy, small portion of fish in a huge, greasy breading. Some of us had burgers - very disappointing: large, dry roll, OK meat. I ordered well-done; it was pink in the middle. The chips that came with it seemed homemade, again, very, very greasy. We felt terrible that we brought friends to such a bad meal.

The location is very interesting a period renovated building but the food portions are small and not notable for flavor. We were traveling through the area and this seemed like the only interesting option. We requested a quiet area but it was quite noisy within a 1/2 hour of our arrival. The muzak was not a help. Jazz would give this place a lift and a bit of class. Seems to be the after work meeting spot.

I love food, and I have eaten at most of the restaurants around Binghamton. Nothing I have eaten so far in town has come close to the meal I was served at Remlik's. Granted this was only one dining experience, I was blown away by the quality of food. We first had some raw oysters which were delicious, and for an entree I had the crispy duck confit. The confit was the best food I have ever had in Binghamton. The duck was cooked to perfection, with a crispy shell surrounding tender juicy and flavorful duck flesh, paired with mascarpone grits- something I had never seen before, but being cheesy and rich but mellow worked very very well in this meal. All in all, wonderful!

Really enjoyed my New Years Eve meal at Remlik's. Not only was the service excellent for it being a very busy night, but I never felt rushed and the pace of the meal was perfect. I ordered the crab legs and sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus, all of which were wonderfully cooked. Have been there quite a few times, and they are also good for a group and after work drinks! Creative menu, and one could have a great time with friends just ordering appetizers and drinks. City feel and you can dress to the nines or business casual. It's proximity to the arena, the theaters and other local attractions make it a great starting point for any evening.

The wait staff is very attentive without being overbearing. Timing on courses of food is perfect. Very big food selection, almost too much because it is hard to pick one thing for an entree' The only issue is the noise level when there is a large crowd. It has a high ambient noise that can make it tough to have a conversation. That said, everything else is so positive that it far out weighs any negatives.

Go to Remlik's like you mean it. Remlik's is for special occasions and when you want to impress. We went for a casual lunch during the holidays. 3 of us were wedged near a large group whose conversation overlapped ours. The waiter kept bumping into my chair as he attended their table. 2 companions ordered simple lunches -- the burger, which was fine, and the fried fish, which was not. My 8 oz. sirloin was mouth-watering. The fried calamari appetizer was delicious. I have been here for dinner and the food and atmosphere were very impressive. I recommend going for dinner on a special occasion, not for a simple lunch.

We had a good time, good meal, good server. The only caveat I have is that the menu is on the pricey side with too many surcharges for items that many restaurants include as a part of the meal. One example of which our server failed to inform us was that the crumbled blue cheese on a salad cost extra. It was very good blue cheese by the way, but not being informed removed one of the factors which might have governed our choice of dressing.
