RemiPleasant surpriseI truly loved this restaurant. The servers were very attentive, the food was wonderful true Italian and much enjoyed. I will definitely come back on our next trip to NYC and I highly recommend that those reading this look at the menu to see for yourself! This is a place for a romantic dinner and yet it is open and fun for those that wish for a place that has some energy, thus 4 stars versus 5. It all depends on what you are looking for. It always looked good but we had never tried it until this last trip. It was terrific! We will definitely be back. The service was friendly and not overbearing. The food was so tasty. We had the burrata, arugula & nectarine salad to start. My husband had the pasta bolognese & I had the agnolotti with truffles. YUM! all so good!! The complimentary bread was also very good as was the olive oil served with it. For dessert we had the ricotta cake with cherries. It was warm with a oozy center & to die for! Also, I have BIG criteria on a good restaurant - it's the ice tea. Freshly brewed, properly, is not always easy and Remi has delicious ice tea.

I dont only love the atmosphere but also the food is delicious and the service is outstanding. Great service - my date and I shared the two dishes. We asked the waiter to split them, but he went a step beyond. Each was presented, in sequence, mid-table with separate plates for each of us to allow sharing (also, a new plate and dinnerware for each entree).
Quiet ambiance - great for conversation on a first date (the great dining companion didn't hurt).
We didn't sit outside, but the outdoor seating area looked comfortable.
The vibe was upscale, and we dressed up (suit and tie for me). I didn't feel overdressed, but a sport coat and jeans would probably have fit in, too.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSensitive waiters and yummy foodI have been eating at Remi since the 1980s, when I worked at Town & Country.
Now I'm there far less often, but still pick it for the food, decor and a certain comfort I feel about my history there.
The recent dinner, among best friends, was to plan a memorial service, so it took a long time before we got to the business of ordering the food. The waiter could not have been more sensitive. Drinks came and went and then, finally, we ate, famished, happy.
As always, it was very good (except for the sardine appetizer).

It was right next door to the Hilton at 53rd St. so it was very convenient since we were staying there. The ambiance was great. My friend had the salmon dish which was very bland and unfortunately, she had a glass of Chardonnay that was likely old, and not good at all. It was replaced however. Although this was a Thurs. during Restaurant Week and the restaurant was busy, we found the service and food to be excellent. I ordered from the Prix Fixe menu: tasty polenta with wild mushroom appetizer, salmon served with sauteed escarole, tiramisu. My husband ordered from the regular menu: a generous portion of very good spinach salad with pecorino cheese and raw mushrooms. The waiter complied in serving the dressing on the side. As entree, the signature Remi spaghetti with spicy red peppers had more sweet peppers than hot peppers, but it was still good. We also enjoyed the red wine and hot coffee.
