A word from Regional
Regional is an Italian restaurant specializing in THE CUISINE OF THE MANY REGIONS OF Italy. Every single one of the 20 regions that comprise the Italian territory are represented with 1 or more recipes on our menu. We feature a wine list of about 50 all Italian wines(red white sparkling)and a full bar(seats 16) with a great small tapas menus.   • "In three recent visits to Regional, I had one excellent sirloin steak and two extremely poor ones. The poor ones had lots of gristle and they were quite thin. They had very little chewable meat. On two occasions the waitress was excellent and on one other occasion the waitress just disappeared. One steak arrived about 15 minutes after everyone else in my party had been served. There is one consistently good dessert -- the warm chocolate souffle. Others might be good too; I haven't tried them. The wait staff is generally personable and knowledgable (except for the waitress who disappeared)."

  • "I was delighted when Regional opened. We in the neighborhood had recently sadly saw the departure of and authentic French bistro. Regional promised to be authentically Italian, and it is, particularly in its menu. All the food is very good, especially the fish dishes. The service is great. My disappointed is with the atmosphere. The room is big, so it's hard to find an intimate table. The decor is modern and plain with hard surfaces everywhere which reflect noise; rather than being able to relax, have comfortable conversation, enjoy the carefully prepared Italian food and the good service, our meal is imposed upon by the din all around. I still like this spot, but not as much as I otherwise might."

I expect their brunch to be a bit rowdy (all you can drink), but the service and food is usually good enough to negate the frat party atmosphere. Good was mediocre. Service terrible (my tea was delivered as just a chipped cup of hot water; no tea bag). I will not go back for brunch again. "

  • "I invited seven friends to join me for dinner on my birthday, and Regional seemed to please everyone. Pay attention to the daily specials that offer great discounts on various items. Main drawback - most of the non-meat menu options are heavily dependent on dairy. It would be nice to see more vegetables and fish. I haven't found an appetizer yet that this non-meat-eating lactose-intolerant person can enjoy."

  • "Monday is their cheap pasta night, so crowds are expected--but the restaurant should get enough staff on hand to handle them. Also, bartenders need to check for dregs when pouring the last of a bottle. My second glass of red had grape pudding in the bottom. A pet peeve, which happens at too many restaurants, is that no one bothers to say, "Thank you," when patrons leave. Otherwise, except for the dismal, factory-cafeteria, décor, well done."

  • "This place is always busy and even when they aren't at full capacity they still somehow look busy. I think it is the overall vibe as a neighborhood coffee shop and its modern italian atmosphere that give this place something unique and makes me keep coming back often, mostly for brunch (the AYCD Mimosas is the best). The food is always excellent and decent portions too, they will substitute plenty for an additional cost and depending if the chef is in a good mood. As soon as you sit the pastry basket, especially the chocolate muffins, are enough to keep you full while waiting for the main course. Sometimes you do need to ask your server a few times for side items or refills, but I always come and leave happy and full and smiling."

Waiters do not communicate well and the service overall was really slow on a Tuesday night when half of the restaurant was empty. It was my first time there but will be the last time as well."

  • "Perfect for pre-theater at Symphony Space. Italian neighborhood gem for the Upper West Side, and you don't even have to have an entree or a pasta to enjoy a meal. Appetizers and salads make for a perfect lunch, as well as for pre-theater dinner. Negative is the higher than preferable noise level."

  • "We LOVED Regional. We chose to eat there because it is close to Symphony Space where we had gone. But i would make the trip to eat at Regional even if I weren't in the neighborhood for other reasons. The food is authentic, most Northern, Italian. Simple, well done, great tastes and everything fresh. And the prices were better than in "other'" parts of Manhattan. I had the special-of-the-day paparadelle with short rib ragu. As we used to say when eating in Tuscany: Divina! I also loved the side of swiss chard. I can't wait to go back and try all the other things on the menu. And--leave room for dessert. It's worth it."

  • "There is NO management in this restaurant and no host. In fact I had to call to get them to click on my Open Table reservation 3 days after I dined there on Saturday eve. The food was tasty but we waited 30 minutes for entrees. While the waitress tried her best, the busboy was chauvinistic and rude. Lack of supervision will be the downfall of this place. Too bad as we really need neighborhood eateries in the area. Won't be going again anytime soon"

  • "The hostess was friendly and seated us immediately while we waited for the other member of our group. There were three of us and we had 2 salads, a special octopus salad and an excellent arugula, apple and ricotta salad from the menu. We also ordered a fritto misto appetizer and 2 entrees - a sea bass and a pork chop special. Everything was cooked to perfection and flavorful. We will return to try more of the menu options."

  • "This small Upper West Brunch spot should be avoided. The menu looks good, and they lure you with an unlimited brunch drink special, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We made a reservation, but were seated after a group the same size walked in without a reservation. We had to ask to get drinks while we waited at the bar, and were constantly being dripped on by the over humid room. Once we were seated, they kept the drinks full, but we had to request our server to order and after all was done, instead of politely telling us that they were closing to change over for dinner, they simply turned the lights out on us. Rude, scattered and unhelpful. The food was good, but not worth it for that terrible service."

  • "We brought two guests for brunch on Sunday. Three of our meals were perfect and very good...........one had some difficulties. BUT, this is not about the difficulty with the dish, this is about how it was handled. My Salad with Artichokes and cherry tomatoes lacked both artichokes and cherry tomatoes. The waiter apologized and took it back to the kitchen returning it with very few artichokes, the proprietor then came over to check. She went back to the kitchen and returned with both artichokes and cherry tomatoes and a sincere apology. The salad was delightful and very tasty and the experience left us satisfied on every level."

  • "A very pleasant neighborhood pasta joint with cheerful if not the most efficient service. Delicous skewered meatballs can start your meal or a tasty caprese salad. Good selection of pastas and meat options and a variety of appetizer dishes can make this a very nice dinner. A good wine selection and a nice bar area add to the attraction. One drawback no gelato or ice cream option for a light dessert."

  • "Regional on the Upper Upper West Side offers good food and many discounted attractions. It is always very busy... But they haven't quite figured out the customer service angle. The wait staff is very uneven. They tend to be tunnel visioned... And only make an appearance after much arm-waving."
