While the food was quite good, it was the attentive service that made the experience superior. The waiter was knowledgeable, efficient, charming and engaging. The restaurant is formal but not at all pretentious. When I inquired if I could get blue cheese stuffed olives for my martini I was told none were available. The martini arrived with three queen olives, but minutes later three blue cheese olives appeared. The bartender was "intrigued" by the request and decided to rectify their deficiency, I was told. Bravo! The heirloom tomato and crab tower and the roasted beet and goat cheese salads were excellent, as was the filet and salmon. Highly recommended.

Our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. The room had a low light ambiance, and a three piece music ensemble playing music near a small dance floor. We were made to feel pampered by our knowledgeable, efficient waiter, Earl. We were given a complimentary appetizer to start things off. We ordered the Beet salad, the Lobster dish and the Shrimp and fried okra dish. They were all very good. Our water glasses were kept filled all night. They have a very attentive wait staff and the host is a very charming man who checks on you to ensure you are enjoying your evening. We really enjoyed the live music and stayed long after just to listen. I highly recommend this restaurant for a very special night out.

Dinner at the Regency Room was again wonderful. We especially enjoy the smaller plate option for several course selections. Smaller plates allows us to enjoy more of the menu. Salads (Caesar and tomato/crab tower) were a perfect start. Both seasoned and dressed nicely. The she crab soup was also great (though I missed having the dish 'prepared' at table). Entrees (trout and tenderloin) were wonderful as small plate treasures. As noted, small plates allow for dessert. Creme broulee and the chocolate cake were a great finish. Wine pairings by our server complemented dinner. Our server, Meryl, and matre d', Lowell, added to the joy of the evening. Downtown roanokers have this treasure just a short walk away. Truly remarkable!

Ambiance-gorgeous historical dining room recently re-decorated. Service-very good, attentive, but not overbearing. Music-lovely, American standards combo. drinks-fine. prices-quite high. food-a bit disappointing. Had a tomato and crab salad, which was very good, but $14. The entrée, shrimp and scallop Chesapeake was too salty (w/ pancetta) and dried out and small portion. Friend had coq au van, which he didn't care for. food is not as good as some of the other restaurants in Roanoke, such as River & Rail (best),Alexander's, Table 50. Best time to go is Sunday brunch.

One could not ask for a better lunch...at such a great value....in such a great environment. The buffet choices would satisfy anyone and the pesonalized service was excellent. I dont think others dining for lunch downtown realize what a great value the Regency Room offers and you certainly can not beat the historic ambiance of the Regency Room.....While most downtown restaurants sandwich/salad style lunches run apprx $12 with tip, for $4 more at the Regency Room, you are provided with a buffet of salads, cold salads, a choice of several entrees including one that is chef prepared to your personal liking, vegetables, bread including the Hotel Roanoke's famous spoonbread, and a variety of desserts. You can not beat it..........check it out!!

It was an absolute pleasure to dine at the Regency. Our fine dining experience was complimented by a very warm and professional staff only to be toppled by the tableside Bananas Foster. The menu provided a delightful selection that made it difficult to make our selections. Prices are very reasonable for the experience we received. If you're in the area and don't take in this experience, you're a fool.

Starting with drinks and a perfectly-prepared crab dip in the Pine Room, my dinner companion and I moved to the Regency Room for dinner. Given that this was a weeknight around 8 PM, there were not many people in the room, but we were greeted kindly and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. We both ordered the Coq au vin, and, and shared a decadent chocolate dessert. Everything was prepared and presented well, and I would recommend this fine restaurant enthusiastically.

Being a Roanoker, this was my first time at the Sunday Brunch at the Regency Room. We went for an anniversary celebration and took our two children with us. I loved everything about it! We were seated quickly, service was fantastic and the food was wonderful. My children loved the experience (fancy food they said). They chatted with the chef preparing the omelets and we also talked to the pastry chef and received wonderful dessert recommendations. My daughter (9 yrs old) loved the piano player and even tipped him out of her own money. It is a bit expensive and we were fortunate to have received gift certificates that covered our cost. However, for a special occasion it was worth it. Cant believe we had never been there before.

Waiter Earl was especially wonderful and remembered us from our last visit. He was even able to tell us what we ate. That is commendable! The man has left an impression on us and we will always ask for his services. Every time we visit your dining room, things look wonderful, things had been moved around for the better, and the band set us in a romantic mood. Oh yah, your greeter is very good at his job. The seafood was very tasty and something I hope you will continue to keep.

The dining room is absolutely gorgeous and very well decorated. The dining room is very big and grand, so finding a spot should not be difficult. I had gone to the room for the breakfast buffet and did not come out disappointed. The eggs were very delicious and cooked on the spot. The sausages were greasy and well cooked. However, I found the bacon a little bit stiff for my tastes. The orange juice tasted like it was freshly squeezed and the coffee tasted pretty good. The service was prompt and polite.

We ate in the Regency Room for lunch while attending a major event held at the hotel this past week. I was quite disappointed, as well as the rest of my party. It was the first time I had eaten there, usually just going to the Pine Room instead. Our reservations were at 12:15. The buffet food was picked over, and they began shutting it down about 1:00. Vegetables and their famous spoon bread were cold. We asked for a new, hot tray, and were told they were shutting the buffet down. So as a result, we couldn't have any. Fish was desperately undercooked and pink. We could not eat it. The dining room was rather full, and I feel that they really missed out on an opportunity, with a huge crowd staying at the hotel, to make some fans for life.

I've been to the Regency Room for brunch before and I've never been let down. This time, my boyfriend and I decided we would go for dinner on a Friday night. We made reservations because we both (wrongly) assumed that on a Friday night they would be slammed. The reservations were not needed. The restaurant was half full, at best, the service was friendly and professional, but painfully slow. Most notable, my boyfriend and I who are in our mid-thirties were the youngest in the restaurant by far.

Even though part of my party was about a half-hour late and our entire breakfast lasted almost two hours, the staff was courteous, attentive and patient. At no time did I get the impression that we were overstaying our welcome, nor were we at any time rushed. The food was wonderful, although one member of my group felt that the hollandaise sauce was considerably spicier than she was used to. Everyone else was very pleased with the food and the service. We would definitely go back and visit when in the area again!

The Regency Room is steeped in southern charm and elegance, and its ambiance evokes a time gone by. We wish the quality of food and service were given an equivalent measure of attention. Our table of three ordered salmon, a seafood medley, and filet mignon. All judged their meals good, but not spectacular. Our server was friendly, but made multiple trips to the kitchen to retrieve forgotten requests. The final insult came when she declined our order of Bananas Foster because the restaurant was too short-staffed to prepare it. On only one of our last four visits to this eatery was the dessert available. We love the history and elegance of Hotel Roanoke. We wish The Regency Room echoed that tradition.
