  • "Our first visit since they remodeled + changed chefs. Remodeling was nice; a little stark perhaps. We didn't like the new menu; that's more a preference than a criticism. They were a bit more traditional; I guess this is more modern. We had reservations + were seated immediately, but they were not crowded. Server was pleasant + knowledgeable. I had Oysters Rockefeller appetizer; two of the four oysters were gritty and dish was a bit bland and did not taste fresh. My short ribs + scallops entree was just OK. Risotto was a bit under cooked for my taste. My wife's filet mignon looked like it hit a too hot grill. Outside was seared a bit too much + center was more rare than the desired medium; demi glace sauce was very salty."

  • "Not sure what the problem was with the kitchen. I had seared tuna which was cold by the time they brought it out. It should be served as soon as it is prepared and not left on the counter until someone gets around to bringing it to the table. Wife ordered steak & lobster tail. The server brought the steak which tasted as if it was microwaved. When asked about the lobster tail the waitress acted like she didn't know anything about it. After checking with the kitchen she told us that the lobster didn't cook right and they were making another one. When she finally brought it out the lobster tasted like it had been soaking in dish water. It was nasty. The manager "graciously" offered to take it off the bill."

  • "We had two good seafood meals. This was our first visit since Mr. Serras transitioned the restaurant to his daughter and changed the menu. It's still affordable, with many choices, but there are also upscale priced meals."

  • "The wine we selected from the Wine List was not available. The menu was imaginative and intriguing. However, it did not mention that my husband's steak would arrive heavily seasoned, and he sent it back. My halibut was fairly tasteless. Considering the prices, we expected better. Our server, Harrison was very pleasant and very attentive, which made the experience more enjoyable."

  • "We haven't eaten here in more than 15 years - what a difference a decade + makes! Great menu - fabulous service - a little pricey but worth it. We had oysters and oysters and tuna poke' and halibut - all fabulous. The wine list was very nice and the wine we chose - a Pinot Nori Mac Murray - was great! We'll be back very soon - and I'll be trying it for lunch."

  • "My boyfriend and I went here for dinner to celebrate his birthday. Our server made a comment along the lines of "I don't want to price you outside of your price range" when I asked for a recommendation between the two Malbecs on the menu. I didn't appreciate that and I really didn't understand it because the bottles only had a two dollar price difference. It didn't get any better from there. The food was good, the presentation a little sloppy and boring, but pretty good food. The service was so awful though that I was extremely disappointed. One of our side dishes was never delivered. Server was pleasant to other tables but not ours. The bar service was excellent though and the bartender was very friendly and put a good end to our evening."

  • "The newly remodeled facility is beautiful and reminds one of a high-end seafood restaurant by the shore. The preparation of the food was creative but not quite spectacular. The appetizers were very nice and portions were good. The stuffed haddock - an old standard carried over from the old days was good (the stuffing was delicious). However, the halibut , while tasty, was a bit on the dry side."

  • "The lobster tail had no flavor. The filet was very good, but like the rest of the food (even the soup) was too cold to really enjoy. It's as if it sat for too long waiting to be brought to our table. The total cost was far too expensive for the experience. Not likely to come back anytime soon. We had a far more impressive experience there a year ago."

  • "I have eaten at reel seafood 3 times in the past before they did the remodel and the food was excellent each time... Prices have now shot up and food was very plain. They are trying for a more upscale feel, which would work if the food was up to par like it was before. My favorite dish, swordfish, is now nearly $30 and was very plain, which was awesome before and just over $20 previously. Not impressed with a fancier look and feel if food quality doesnt hit the mark."

  • "Found this newly redecorated restaurant, pleasing to the eye. The food was very, very average. Swordfish and mahi seemed to come from a pre-cut portioned frozen box of fish. We like frsh cut, fresh fish. Just seemed to be almost something you'd get at a chain. Not so good."

  • "Food and Service were ok, but at the prices they charge we expected a lot more. Drinks from bar took over 10 minutes to get to our table, and it was not that busy when we sat down at 8 pm. $4.50 a pint not bad price, but $10.50 for a Reel Old Fashioned that was packed with ice...come on! Food was prepared well enough, but we have had better for less money. $19 for overcooked 5 oz. Lobster tail is one example. Strip steak and Filet Mignon were ordered medium well, but came cooked uneven. Server friendly, but not overly attentive. Potential to be a great place, but still need to kick up the service a few notches if they want to charge those prices. Shellfish Cobb was the best deal at $19, and came with plenty all around to satisfy."

  • "I really enjoyed everything that we ordered. Our waiter was wonderful. The place looked amazing after the renovation. They really did a great job. However I received a Gift Certificate for Christmas and while I was on line to make our reservations I signed up for their emails, in doing so they gave you a coupon for a free drink. They would NOT allow me to use both. I was very disappointed. Our bill after my gift certificate was 100.00 so I felt they should have honored it. Not very good business like!!!!"

  • "I remember when the Real Seafood Company opened 27 years ago and was run by LaGrand. Now that his daughter has taken over and did the renovation the prices are sky high. How do you charge $24.00 a pound for lobster? How do you charge $10.00 for 6 Cherry stone Clams? How do you charge $19.00 for a 5 oz lobster tail??? Although the service was good the food was just so so with very little flavor, not to mention the small portions. "

  • "Our appetizers looked and tasted very nice but took about 40 mins to reach us, and meals were generally OK. One of our entrees (Chilean Sea Bass en Papilotte) tasted "fishy", not in good way, and the accompanying risotto and veggies were bland and mushy). I had the Tuna Poke for an appetizer, and think it must have been foul because about an hour after I got home I was violently ill. This was very disappointing, as I ahve never had anything but fresh, safe seafood at this restaurant."

  • "First and foremost, we enjoyed the best scallops we have ever eaten. Simply amazing! The shrimp cocktail was also rated as one of, if not the best, we've had. Our short ribs were very flavorful. The cauliflower puree was not. It was cold and flavorless. We both agreed that our dinner would have been complete and over the top if you had mashed cauliflower. Our dinner was sadly missing that one more element. We were also disappointed when our server said we could not substitute another seafood item on an appetizer we considered ordering (we don't eat oysters). She also said no when we asked if we could take creme brulee home as our dessert. Over-all a very nice dinner. My next visit will be all scallops. They were that good."

The staff was either overwhelmed or there was not enough working because the meal was slow in coming to the table. If you want to eat appetizers only, that would be your best choice because they were very good. For the money we spent, we expected better. We will not be dining there again."

  • "I had a great experience at Reel Seafood. I was greeted warmly, seated promptly and served well. I had scallops and brussel sprouts with bacon both of which were delicious. The scallops were not rubbery and the brussel sprouts had a great roasted flavor and were perfectly tender. I would visit this restaurant again if I lived in the area."

  • "The generously sized portion of halibut was cooked to perfection-flaky and moist. However, there was not a noticeable wasabi flavor at all. The only flavor was salt, both on the fish and in the accompanying sauce. The restaurant was very busy and I am glad we had reservations. It is college graduation weekend locally. The decor is nice, with giant fishtanks dividing the dining area from the bar. Seating is well laid out in the main dining room, but a little tight in the smaller side dining room. However, it was quieter there, so I was glad that's where we were seated. Varied wine list, but our waitress was not very knowledgable about the offerings."

  • "Pleasant decor, especially the large fish tanks, but noise level is VERY loud. Service adequate. Bloody Mary celery stick garnish was brown and dry on end, drink itself was bland. Poached turbot came surrounded by slices of cucumber that were limp, not sauced or seasoned in any way. Chicken Ballantine was good except the arugala in the center of the plate was too salty. We made a 5:30 reservation and the dining room was all but empty, but when we requested not to be seated on the banquette they tried to force us to a booth next to the kitchen rather than one of the many free ones in the dining room. Overall, pretentious and unwelcoming."

  • "Probably the best restaurant in the area for Seafood. Did the seafood tower for my 91 year old seafood loving mother on Mother's Day. She was in heaven, she then ordered the Cioppino for an abundance of more assorted seafood. Calamari was rubbery and charged an extra $5.00 for Pasta which is absurd. Delicious hot rolls. I ordered short ribs and scallops which was kind of chinchy for the price. My girlfriend ordered the sea scallops which were perfect and generous portioned. Overall, pricey but seafood done well. "

  • "We had reservations for a six-top at 7:15 and were seated promptly upon arriving, then things went downhill. After being seated we had to wait for over half an hour for a server to visit our table! It was NOT busy either, I think there was one server per table. It was another equally long wait for the drinks to come out (no fancy bar drinks either). The server also stayed in the kitchen most of the night so we had to ask other servers for many basic things. The food was NOT FRESH, and obviously just thawed. A few of my crab claws were even still a bit frozen - I had to wait for my food to thaw before eating! The only reason I didn't give the food a "Poor" rating is because others seemed to enjoy their meals. The ambiance was nice enough. "
