If you like over-saturated BLUE you will be in Heaven. Th sword fish was not the freshest and not very blackened. Most thought the meal was good. Way too costly for the product produced.

This is our second visit to this restaurant in the past 4 months and once again the food was very good but the service was poor and disappointing. I did not expect that dishes from a previous course would still be on the table when the entrees are served and that the food server seemed clueless about the fact that this mess of used dishes had to be removed first. It seems as though the protocols for proper food and drink service have gone by the wayside. Two disappointing restaurant experiences here does not add up to future visits any time soon.

I have eaten at Reel Seafood several times in the last few years and I have never been disappointed. Service is top notch and the food, especially the seafood, is always fresh and expertly prepared. The staff is well trained and it shows in the service they deliver. I love the raw bar and menu specials, making it easy to find something everyone will enjoy, including non seafood eaters. One recent dinner I enjoyed a delicious lobster risotto with a broiled lobster tail. The risotto was nice and creamy and the lobster tail had excellent flavor. I highly recommend Reel Seafood.

At the recommendation of friends who went to school in the area, I took a solo dinner trip to Reel Seafood during a recent business trip. The service/management is extremely professional and attentive which became apparent as soon as I walked in the door and was greeted by the hostess. I elected to dine at the bar and was very well looked after by the two bartenders. Fantastic raw oysters -- perceptibly fresh. Nice range of wine and beer. Warm, crusty dinner rolls with a selection of butters and oil for dipping. My salmon, recommended by one of the bartenders, was also noticeably higher quality and more flavorful than any salmon I've ordered elsewhere. Did not have room for dessert but that just means I'll have to return. Bravo!

We met friends here on a Friday evening. Aside from the traffic on Wolf Road while driving to Reel Seafood, the evening was pleasurable in every way. Great food, very attentive service which, in addition, did not rush us or make us feel that our table was waiting to be assigned for the next party! I would highly recommend it for a near perfect dining experience!

Restaurant Week special was pretty poor. Date had the fried Grouper and mashed potatoes, both bland and average at best. I had shrimp and chicken gnocchi which contained 2 small shrimp and was no better than if I opened a bag of those Bertolli type bagged dinners. Service was very rushed as main course was brought out while we were both eating our soup. Server disappeared while we sat there with empty wine and water glasses. We had eaten here on one other occasion on Mother's Day and it was much better. Not a good way to attract new diners to Reel Seafood on Colonie Restaurant Week.

The hot rolls were probably the best we've ever had. They were served with three options for toppings and all were excellent. The New England clam chowder was fair. The chowder was served lukewarm (at best). My wife had the Harvest Field Green Salad which was plentiful and she enjoyed it, but she also said the dressing was very sweet. My wife and daughter had the Giovanni Pasta (shrimp and scallops over linguini) and they both loved it. I had the Alaskan Salmon done blackened and it was very good. As a side dish, I had the Balsamic Bacon Brussels Sprouts which were outstanding.

We have known Reel Seafood for years through all its changes. It is now in the 21st century with food and decor. The decor is awesome and the food is quite sophisticated. I had the monkfish with lentils which was great. My husband had the cioppino which he enjoyed. The strawberry shortcake was amazing . We will be back !

The food was not as good as we were hoping...not bad, just not great. My ahi tuna was not very good...flavor of the sauce overwhelmed the fish and noodles. (But they did take it off the bill when I couldn't eat it...) Everyone else's meal was ok...The dessert - creme brulee - did not taste like they made it in house...

We had not been back to Reel Seafood since the change in management from the father to the daughter. The physical dining space has a dominant blue color and a large aquarium. We were disappointed with the downsizing of the menu offerings from before the change in management. There were far fewer seafood options. Also, the menu has largely gone to al a carte. As for our dinner, the service was average, not outstanding nor dismal. The meals we order were good, but, nothing was outstanding or exceptional. Even the "signature" stuffed haddock was just ok. Overall, we did not feel the dining experience matched the significant cost of the meal. Given our disappointment, we will pursue other dining options in the area.

My husband and I came here to celebrate our 2nd anniversary and really enjoyed it. We had a table reservation but wanted to take advantage of the happy hour $1 oysters which is only offered at the bar. We were seated at a booth in the bar area which was the perfect solution. The food and the service was great! Our server was Alyssa who did a great job. Definitely coming back.

We ordered the Alaskan King Crab legs....have to be honest it's the first time I've left a restaurant hungry. We ordered 1/2 lb each but legs were cut in half, barely any meat and they were cold. If it were not for the fries and the bread we surely would have left hungrier than we did. I think I will stick to buying my own and preparing them at home. The waiter was great though!

We always enjoy eating there and this was a group of eight. All were very satisfied with their meals. I didn't give it five stars because they had a set price of $24/pound for lobster and lobster is currently under $6/lb so I thought that should have been adjusted.

We've been going to this place every time we travel to Albany. (4-5 times a year) We love seafood, and this was our favourite place for crab legs. This time, though, the crab legs were cut in halves, dry, hard and almost cold. The waiter seemed to take our complaint personally, and gave us dessert of His choice to compensate for the meal. That dessert was some fried bananas over french toasts with melted ice cream. Looked like it had been standing somewhere... and he decided to pass it on.

I ordered the whole snapper. After we ordered the waitress returned to say they were out of the whole fish. I then ordered the filet of snapper. By and by the manager appeared to tell me that my fish was over -cooked and they'd be making me a new one. My companions were served before I was, but I urged them to eat their meals, two of which were Shellfish Cobb salads, the other the stuffed chicken roll. My fish arrived but was not crispy as promised in the menu. I enjoyed it anyway with the jasmine flavored rice and cold seasonal vegetable, a kind of zucchini slaw. Our appetizers were great. Three of us had buttermilk batter dipped fried oysters. One of us had the "jumbo" shrimp cocktail. The shrimp looked medium sized. Delicious anyway.

The atmosphere is really nice. My husband and I ordered the Tuna poke as an appetizer. It was prepared like Tuna tartare. I ordered the Beet carpaccio as my entree and my husband had a House salad with blackened shrimp. We enjoyed the "entrees." As far as the appetizer goes, the taste of the tuna itself was good but my husband was up all night and I wasn't feeling well either. We think it was the Tuna poke appetizer. It was served with a pool of spicy oil on either side of the tuna for dipping. The oil seemed like hot oil which you typically use for frying. I used it sparingly but I think the combination just wasn't supposed to be together and it made us ill. We won't be going back.

Filling water and removing dishes. We arrived at 6:30 and left at 8:45, so it took longer that we expected. Mixed reviews on the food. I liked my Swordfish special. The salmon dish comments were that the entrees were not hot.

The "NEW" Reel Seafood has lots of potential. The last time we visited this establishment, about 5yrs ago, it was old and mediocre with the fish tasting like iodine. This is no longer the case. A new owner took over in January and totally redid the whole restaurant. Although the food was cooked perfectly, we felt that the sauces and dressing should have been more tasteful and not as thin. The main courses needed a bit of color to liven up the dishes. For the price of the meal we expected perfection and not just good. We are truly hopeful that the new owner can live up to this since we are looking forward to return and become regulars if they can make these changes.

We go to Reel every year after the Track. This year we were pleasantly surprised to see all the renovations and updates to the restaurant and patio. The restaurant has an airier feel inside with no high walls, the banquettes, blue oval light in the ceiling, and the mod silver "chandelier". Also love the stramlined menu, with more "small" choices, instead of a huge meal. Service was attentive without being intrusive. We all ordered apps with raw bar clams cold, sweet and delicious. Fried oysters and oysters rockefeller were sublime. Crab cake had a little too much filler and the taste was bland. Drinks were fine and prices just right. We'll be back later in the meet to do it all over again!

We have returned to the renewed Reel Seafood 4 times. We go for the really good oysters. Monday's are 30% off lobster dishes, however the waiter did not tell us when we asked. At that point we could hear him telling all the new tables around us what the specials were, including an oyster special that we were not told about. He did ask us how the oysters were, we got 2 of each that they had available - 6 total - they were excellent except two which were really gritty, and he replaced them immediately. The service turned out good overall after a slow start. The food is good, but expensive for portion size, the salmon piece was very small.
