Desserts are a bit pared back from prior years but the free flowing Champagne is good and not all that expensive. The revised food layout creates some congestion around the food and causes some delays but the wait is well worth it. The restaurant was PACKED so we checked on the wait to get an idea of how much time we had for shopping. The host told us they would be able to seat us fairly quickly and that we should wait at the bar. We ordered two drinks, which totaled $23.00, and then waited for half an hour. At that point I inquired about seating and was told they were running a half hour late!
My wife and I finished our drink and decided to leave, at that point the host said a table had just cleared and we would be seated, half an hour past our reservation time. Seafood is a notch above any of the big chains, clearly a chef in the back with a real flair for bringing out flavor and texture of proteins. Soups, salads, and appetizers were quite good. Highlight of our last meal was a $2 small bite dessert of a muffin size caramel pecan cake with a mini scoop of vanilla ice cream. Everything on the menu is delicious. The wait staff, very friendly and not always coming to the table. Our server, Brenda, was excellent. Great personality, very knowledgeable on the few questions we asked. Very nice. Our meal was excellent as always. Their menu has something for everyone. The had a nice wine list. We were there celebrating my husband's birthday. Everything from beginning to end was perfect. We will definitely be going back. I was there with my teenage nieces and one of them spilled my red wine on my light blue dress shirt and when my waitress found out what had happened, she brought me another glass of wine at no charge! Many restaurants aren't willing to do that but that really wowed me. The California rolls and the sea bass at Reel Club are superb. I had forgotten to request a booth when I reserved through Open Table. When we came in, it was crowded, and I expressed our desire for a booth. The hostess was very polite, and said that we might have to wait about 10 minutes. Less than 10 minutes later, we were seated at a booth. The food was high quality as always. The service was wonderful-- between the waitperson and the busboys, we wanted for nothing. We were well taken care of! We had smoked salmon bruschetta as an appetizer, roasted scallops and asparagus risotto, and a trio including salmon, filet, and grilled prawns wrapped in bacon. It was fantastic! And there is always a fresh batch of hot cheese popovers put on the table. The waitress was very good and refreshed beverages and checked on our satisfaction. But I have to say even tho the food was very good, the popovers this time were less cheesy and less savory than usual---and when I say popovers, they are little popovers to pop in your mouth! Usually a fun treat. Maybe next time they will be better, but that was my only complaint. Another positive is their glassware, beverages are just smoother in their barware, don't know what else to say. All well prepared, and delicious. Service was attentive and professional. They do have the best Sunday Brunchin the western suburbs which I have been to once before. I was disapointed that when I went to use my points on my "Lettuce Eats" card I was told that they dont accept them on Saturday evenings. That is inconsistent based on Wildfire when we went on a Saturday evening a few weeks ago and were able to use the points. If you are going to have a card, the rules should be consistent on all of your restaurants. I would have specified a table in the dining room, had I known this would be a possibility. However the bar cleared out a bit after about an hour. I had the scallops with butternut squash risotto. The dish was excellent! My husband had the grilled grouper. Our server was attentive. We loved the popovers that were at the table right as we sat down - a little something to have with drinks is always great.
