Diner Reviews
  • "We have lived in Las Vegas for 11 years and have been coming here much longer than that! We have eaten at the Redwood Room for over 20 years. The Redwood offers great Steaks and seafood at reasonable prices. The place is small with a definite "Old Vegas" feel."

  • "Probably the only place in Vegas with NO draft beer. Dining tables are very small also."

  • "We celebrated Courtney's 21st birthday. there were 7 of us in our party. the food was excellent. we ordered king crab legs and steak. the crab was juicy and the steak was tender. they also gave a complimentary birthday dessert to Courts. great service and very nice setting. whenever we visit the Cal, we always have dinner at the Redwood Grill. As you can see, we really like it there. It was such a special birthday celebration, "Oh What a Night!""

  • "very attractive, nice lighting, nice decor. The food is excellent. I had the crab legs and my wife had the filet-both great. Pricing is lower than comparable restaurants and a bargain verse the strip. I have been here many times for many years,it has never disappointed."

  • "Great food , I had large filet mignon and wife had macadamia nut chicken with shrimp. Both were extremely GOOOOD !!! Every time we go there is perfect. Make reservations"

  • "Excellent food, but the dining room staff were rushing us. I don't know why, the place was not full, but as we were the only white people in there, I think they wanted us out as quickly as possible."

  • "We ordered the crab and airline chicken dinner, crab was cold and a bit old? chicken was tough.... food came pretty quickly. I spoke to the manager about the food, he comped the crab (I told him I did not want anything free) he did not care what I told him about quality control in the kitchen. When in downtown I've learned only thing good here is the pizza..ie Pizza rock, Pop up pizza and the mom and pop places at the end of Fremont....the actually care about their product"

  • "Always good we have been here many times. Try the enormous prime rib or the filet mignon."

  • "Always have a nice meal at Redwood. I'm no "foodie", but the beef always leaves me happy and satisfied. Prime Rib and Bone-in Rib Eye are favorites. King Crab Legs are great too. Portions are outstanding. I've NEVER left still hungry. I always WANT to skip the bread they serve at the beginning, but it's too good to resist. I've been asking for the server, Jesus, for years. Great service with a smile."

  • "We brought a couple from out of town there, your lobster and prime rib was excellent as always ."

  • "We have eaten here a few times and as locals we love downtown Las Vegas. That said we love a great steak with all the sides but hate to pay outrages prices. This little gem inside the Califonia Hotel on Main Street has great food, great wine, great services without a huge bill at the end. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a wonderful high end steak dinner without the high end prices!"

  • "I ordered scampi and my husband had the ahi. The food was good, but our vegetables were cold, my sauce was cold and his ahi was cold. None of our food was hot."

  • "A bit if a fishy odor in the lobby but that disappeared once we entered the dining room. The food was good and our waiter was a good guy. We were in a group and this place was perfect for us."

  • "Richard had prime rib. It was not as good as we hoped. It was tough. The flavor was good. I had steak and it was tender and tasty."

  • "Have been to Redwood several times and the food is consistently good. Wait staff attentive and friendly. That T-bone steak special is very good."

  • "The fish served was very good. The sashimi was nicely cut and very tasty. The Sesame Crusted Ahi for dinner was also very good. However, the Porterhouse steak served as a special was a little chewy and although the piece was a nice size, the thickness was on the thin side."

  • "We dined here Christmas Eve for dinner. We had not been here for several years and wanted to give it a try. The Porterhouse special was a dissapointment. The meat was cooked properly, but it was still tough to cut. The rice was luke warm to start with and got cold quickly. One guest at another table had trouble cutting his steak and picked the bone up and ate the meat from it. Our meal was brought to us on a cart, with no covering over the dishes. Don't know how long our food sat on the cart. Just not the best experience. I don't see us going back."

  • "Was blown away by their excellent service and menu. The split King Crab legs were to die for! We always make it a point to dine here when ever we are in town! Mahalo nui!"

  • "For a well-prepared and ably-served dinner in downtown Vegas you can't go wrong here. Even on the busiest nights the staff is attentive and caring, without being overbearing, and the food is hard to beat. I've had the prime rib twice (both times excellent), but the menu is varied enough to suit almost anyone. Portions are ample, and (although I've never needed to do this) I have a hunch if you needed to send something back they'd be more than willing to accomodate you. (Hard to imagine that would ever be necessary, but it does crop up, even in the very best of places.) You could spend a lot more on the Strip and not be nearly as well rewarded!"

  • "Celebrated my birthday with a huge prime rib & wine meal that was excellent & left overs for two more meals. Loved the quiet dinning room, excellent service. Would recommend this restaurant for fine dinning. The wine was a special that night, last from a closed restaurant, got it for 1/2 price was still wonderful with the steak & prime rib dinners. Will remember that meal!"

  • "We were very impressed with the service and the ambiance. The lighting was subdued but pleasant. You would never know there was a brightly lit casino just outside the front doors. The service was perfect, very helpful, friendly and efficient. We are locals and this was our first time to try the Redwood. Our food was well prepared and the presentation was appealing to the eye. I had the filet mignon and shrimp. My wife ordered the Macadamia Nut Crusted Chicken with shrimp. Both were prepared perfectly. The portions sizes were a bit large for us so we ended up taking half of the food home. We liked the intimate feeling and all of the redwood was beautiful. We will definitely be making this one of our regular restaurants."

  • "They offer a Porterhouse steak special for $24 (I believe it was a 16-oz steak, including the bone, but it's a VERY generous steak portion) that was excellent. It comes with a vegetable du jour & starch, plus a dessert of apple dumpling with vanilla ice cream that was outstanding. All of that for only $24! Even though I was there on a very busy night, the service was not lacking."

  • "My wife and I always go for the filet mignon and lobster tail! Appetizers are all delicious with a good selection of wines. But, it is always noisy in that small restaurant and if want intimate, you may need to go during off-hours."

  • "We had not eaten there in several years but remembered we enjoyed it so thought we would try it again. I was really disappointed in the salad. When we were there before they put mini shrimp and other items in the salad. This time it was only lettuce and 2 cherry tomatoes. We got there when restaurant opened and the waiter told us they had no aki tuna. Unfortunately, that was what I had thought I would have. The entrees we had were good-prime rib, porterhouse, chicken &orange roughy. It was good but there are so many restaurants out there that are good. I wouldn't rush to go back there."
