Diner Reviews
  • "One of our go-to places. Food can be a little hit or miss and service is always great."

  • "One of the best outdoor patio/bars in the western suburbs. Seating is first come, first served outside, so the Open Table reservation really just gets you an inside table. Make the reservation, go to the site and check-out the patio bar/tables. If you think you can poach one in a reasonable time - have a drink & wait (don't forget to check-in with the hostess and let them know what you are doing). If not, go to your inside table and enjoy the food."

  • "Redstone Grill has become our favorite restaurant when we are celebrating a special occasion. It was my husband's birthday that we were celebrating. The food was delicious. We ordered a chicken flat bread for our appetizer. So so good! My husband's ribs fell off the bone and my crab cakes were so yummy and huge. Our server, Justin, was very attentive to our needs. He always seemed to know what we were going to ask for before we actually asked for it. My husband ordered dessert and when Justin brought it to our table, he put a plate and spoon in front of me "in case you decide to have a taste". What a smart man!!!! I would definitely recommend Redstone to everyone. It was a very pleasant experience!"

  • "Cornbread - cold. Meatloaf - look like it came out of freezer as did the accompanying sauce which was lumpy and again cold. My wife's fish was okay. My daughter's salad was good and overall service was very good - will not go back with all other choices in oak brook"

  • "I booked a Sunday evening reservation to celebrate my son's 23rd birthday and indicated such on the reservation. I didn't expect a song and dance floor show but nobody even acknowledged that they knew it was a birthday celebration. The food was good and we had no wait which surprised me a little but other restaurants have done a much better job at honoring a celebration."

  • "Our party if 4 was seated at a table by the entrance... Poor location and cramped. Service was friendly but not 100%. Food was great except ribeye was overdone. We went against our rule of ordering a steak when at a non-steak house."

  • "I took my friends to Redstone because of a previous good experience. Our waiter Jordan was excellent and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was great. We had ribs, chicken, soup, grilled meatloaf, hamburger- all delicious. The only complaint that I had was that it was a little loud. I guess people were just having a good time. Nothing wrong with that."

  • "Always known for their outdoor patio/bar. Just really difficult to get into at certain hours since it is so popular. Don't let that deter you from going and eating/drinking inside. Parking is usually difficult, but there is a parking garage just behind the restaurant...just a short walk across some grass."

  • "I made a reservation for a late night anniversary dinner and when I showed up, i still had to wait for a table for 45 mins. This was the only time I ever had to wait for a table here so it wasn't too bad, just somewhat irritating. We ate outside, the food was great, service was really good. Being outside however the noise level was very loud. They had a live band and music playing on the speakers. It was overall a good time."

  • "So we decided to visit this place for a farewell event. The hostess was awesome, she asked if we needed another table since our group was growing in numbers as the night progressed. However, the waitress was horrible. I'm sure she didn't want to be there because from the moment we placed our drinks and appetizer orders she seemed preoccupied or bothered. Again, place is great, but waitress was not so good. At times I had to hunt her down to order additional drinks. Cheap night 14 people 300 bucks plus a 60 dollar tip total 360.00 for lots of drinks and appetizers."

  • "It was the day of my birthday and I was disappointed that I only received a sparkler on a dessert that I had to pay for. I ordered the prime rib, which was NOT prime. Our wait person recommended the fish as the main entree which should have been my clue. Basically the service was very good; the cocktails were outstanding; the appetizers were grand!"

  • "We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary with a group of friends. The service was very attentive & our dinners were very good. They all came out at the same time & cooked to our liking. We have dined here a couple times with this group & definitely will be back again."

  • "For the price paid, portions were small. The ribs were very good but don't feel like you get enough food for the price. Lacking in service. Never came to refill the water and felt rushed at the end. Will not go back."

  • "I live in Woodstock and whenever I have a chance to come to the Oakbrook Terrace area Redstone American Grill is always my first and only choice for lunch or dinner. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the food and I especially LOVE their special banana cream pie. I really wish there was Redstone closer to home!"

  • "We celebrated our anniversary at Redstone. We sat at a booth for 2 and it was quite roomy, despite my husband being over 6' tall. I enjoyed the draft beer selection and we got a cheese plate appetizer that was just enough for two. I love wedge salads done well, and this one was superb--perfect combination of crunchy lettuce, smoked bacon, tomatoes and blue cheese, with just enough dressing. And we both had great steaks! Husband said also that his mac and cheese was memorable, and I had the sauteed mushrooms with my filet. We both had the grilled asparagus that the waitress recommended and she was correct-it was very well-prepared. Our only regret is that we didn't have room for dessert. Maybe next time...and we WILL be back!"

  • "We arrived, were seated right away and then the Superior Service began. Jamie, our server, greated us and then waited on us hand and foot. We never wanted for anything. Thanks Jamie! We'll be back!"

  • "Service was excellent....my grilled walleye fish was just okay....nothing special or worth running back there for....other people in group ordered BBQ meat loaf and loved it. No real popular entree....lunch items that most had were average. No one raved about the food. Chocolate cake for birthday was outstanding! Restaurant was very chilly, but waiter asked and temp was adjusted. Two large groups of women (20 people) sitting in this area and we were all cold."

  • "There's a lovely outdoor patio. Even though it was a hot day, we sat outside and were very comfortable since many tables are under a roof that provides shade. The food and service were outstanding! We will definitely return."

  • "This was an awesome dining experience. I enjoyed the food I am a steak lover so my dish was the 14oz Prime Rib! The ambiance was very relaxing. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this restaurant!"

  • "We made our reservations 2 weeks before Fathers Day. We were not notified that is was only a buffet. Prior to arrival, we were planning on ordering the cheese fondue, buffaloe shrimp, and burgers (family). Instead, we picked up food that was warm from the buffet line, and nothing outstanding. The overall service the last two visits was far from the usual outstanding that we have been used to. It took almost 10 minutes for the waiter to come to our table. The restaurant was only 60% full, so they were not too busy. I have been to Red Stone about 30-40 times since it opened, and it used to be my wife's and mine favorite restaurant because of the decor, service, and the food. Recently, it is maybe in our top ten favorites- how sad."

  • "There must have been a change in the management or chefs. We used to love this place. It used to have great food, good prices and awesome drinks. The food is now average, not bad, but forgettable at best. My father ordered the ribs and they were overcooked and dry. My father in law ordered a ceasar salad as an entrée and it was the size of a side salad. My fish was only partially cooked and once it was rectified, was only so-so. This used to be a great place to go, but we won't be going back again."

  • "This review is for the experience I had on Father's Day. We normally love coming here for good food and service. My dad specifically requested Redstone because he loves the buffalo shrimp. Our reservation was for 2:00. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find that it was buffet ONLY until 3. We had to sit for an hour before we could order off of the menu OR go with the buffet. It wasn't a HUGE deal, but... 1. There was no prior notification of buffet only until 3 pm (not when I made the res or when I went on Redstone's website) 2. My 85-yr old grandmother was with us/ our 6-person group was seated in a booth. Made things hard. 3. No buffalo shrimp for my dad! We chose buffet. I could/would go on, but I've maxed my character limit."

  • "I had always wanted to check this place out because I had heard lots of good things. I went for the Father's Day brunch and it was terrible. We did not have one thing we liked. It took forever for the server to come over to our table and ask about drinks. I almost got up and left then and I almost wish I had. I spent $70 for 2(with tip) for a terrible brunch."

  • "I was introduced to this restaurant by my friends who had taken me for my birthday. I was so impressed by the food, scenery, staff, menu, and prices that I decided to bring my mom for her birthday who loved it. I only wished they had something special for those who are there celebrating."

  • "Enjoyed cocktails on the patio and our server was awesome! Once seated inside though, the vibe changed. Food was mediocre and a little pricey. Not very many vegetarian options, so I went with 3 sides and they were $7.50...each!"

  • "I surprised my boyfriend and had an 8:00 pm reservation at Redstone. It was the first time for both of us, so I was really excited. We were about 20 mins late cause we got turned around, but when we arrived I told the hostess and we're directed right to our table. The food was great, the wine was good too. The ambience was very nice too, the only complaint I would have is the bathrooms are REALLY DARK inside. You can hardly see to even wash your hands or touch up your makeup, which most women do."

  • "This was my first time at this restaurant for lunch--a friend and I just picked it out of a list of restuarants that was in between Arlington Heights and Tinley Park. It was a great find! Our waiter Justin was great, the food was fresh and delicious! I will definitely go back with my husband for a more romantic date."

  • "My husband and I went here for my birthday dinner. The parm crusted walleye was delicious, and he loved the braised short ribs. Our server was very knowledgeable and polite and not pushy at all."

  • "I've always seen Redstone from 22nd. street, but could never find out how to get to it. It is great! Good food, good service. Sadly, I had to send my drink back. It was awful, then the table across from us sent 1 of their drinks back. Don't order a mixed drink, stick to wine or beer. Otherwise, experience was very nice."

  • "Our experience was lackluster. The service was quiet slow. Our server disappeared for fifteen minutes at a time. We were there for 25-30 minutes before she took our order. The food was okay. The chicken flatbread was muddled flavors- too many items so you couldn't taste anything special. Husbands steak was overcooked and never asked how things tasted. The manager cleared our plates and knocked a knife with butter onto my lap and didn't bat an eye. It was a weird experience overall. "

  • "This was my first experience at Redstone. I was treating someone to a birthday dinner. He has been to your restaurant several times and that was why it was chosen. It is not a place I would be rushing back to. While it was a nice restaurant it would not be my first choice. The service was great, however, the meal left a little to be desired. I had the bbq salmon which was good, I exchanged the mashed sweet potatoes for the garlic mashed which were just okay. The meal also came with seasonal vegetables. The vegetables did not look appetizing at all. They were okay but the entire meal presentation was not inviting. It did not make me respond with "dive in" looking at what was in front of me. "
