Diner Reviews
  • "This was my husband and I first visit to Redstone for lunch and I must say that we were pleasantly surprised. We were given a very warm greeting from the hostess were seated immediately. We were seated at the window that over looks the Capital Wheel. We didn't wait very long before our waitress came to take our order. We decided to start with an appetizer and ordered a full plate of the buffalo jumbo shrimp with Buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing and they were out of this world. My husband ordered the half rack of baby back ribs that came with French fries and coleslaw he said that while he enjoyed the ribs and the French fries he didn't eat the coleslaw. I ordered the rotisserie chicken chopped salad. This is a great place to eat."

  • "For my second visit I had another great experience! Outdoor dining is the way to go...amazing view, wonderful wait staff. Food is fun and very tasty. I recommend the buffalo shrimp and wedge salad. And DO NOT miss the cornbread!! I will always take guests here"

  • "Past OT Foodies said they left because of the poor service-they were right. Had reservations and were seated at a table with a great view. That was the only redeeming quality. Ordered martinis to start-Mediocre at best. Ordered filet because it came with bernnaisse-my fav. Asked for medium, got well done and they forgot the sauce. Sever never came to check anyway. Wanted wine with dinner, had trouble getting a wine list. By the time the server came back to ask which bottle we wanted, we were almost done with the meal. Ordered it any way but by the time it came, we actually were done so we sent it back. Could go on about the attitude of the rest of the staff-not worth the trouble. Don't bother with this one."

  • "I've been to Redstone several times now, and I'm happy to report that things have improved now that they're not so new - the food has been excellent every time!! The corn bread is the best I have EVER eaten and worth every penny with the maple butter!!"

  • "This place added a nice touch to the National Harbor. Location, food, view are awesome!"

  • "The restaurant was extremely noisy- couldn't hear each other talk! We went on a Friday night for an anniversary dinner. We were not looking for anything too quiet and elegant, just a nice view, great food, good atmosphere. We did enjoy the view and the food was delicious but not the atmosphere due to the extreme noise. We had a lovely table at the window with a beautiful view of the water and the capital wheel. Unfortunately though, the service was just okay and the bar area was huge and jammed with wall to wall people. The place had the noise level of a night club. We couldn't hold a conversation. Not sure I would go back on a summer weekend again."

  • "The first come first serve for the outside tables on a Friday night is a complete nightmare! Totally frustrating. We asked a table of four if they were about to leave. They said yes in 15 minutes. We waited and then some friends of theirs came up and began talking to them. All of a sudden one of the girls told us she knows she promised the table to us but she didn't know it had been reserved. I asked how do you reserve first come first serve seating. One of the ladies who walked up announced she was one of the managers and had "promised" the table to someone the night before! I asked how did that work and there was no sign or anything!! She repeated that she had promised the table. Poor management if this is how they treat people!"

  • "Had a 5:30 pm reservation on a Thursday night - they had maybe 4 tables full and 7 servers hanging around. While we were seated immediately, we waited 20 minutes for anyone to approach our table - after 20 minutes we closed the menus and walked out. Unbelieveable when the 7 servers were walking past our table several times each with absolutely no intention of waiting on us. Will not go back. Although the view was incredible and the BBQ smells coming from the kitchen were heavenly, we will not be back. Went next door (Bond 45) and had a perfect meal."

  • "They have a fantastic birthday cake. Was able to celebrate my pastors 83rd birthday. He was up from florida(retired). He and wife really enjoyed the scenic view along the river. They both are native washingtonians, great memories. Picture perfect location and picture perfect weather."

  • "I ordered the Margherita Flatbread and the Mixed Green House Salad. Both were delicious and portion sizes were large. I ended up taking home half of the flatbread order. The service was excellent. We had someone join us about 20 minutes into our dinner and the waiter was very prompt in acknowledging the new addition. Can't beat the views looking out onto the Potomac River and the newly erected Ferris Wheel."

  • "The rotisserie chicken on the menu requires more flavor. The mashed potato was not delightful. The cornbread starter was excellent. The ribeye steak was too salty and burnt on the outside. The mojito was not mixed properly. The price of the menu not reasonable to the quality of their products."

  • "My new favorite at National Harbor. Food was excellent thanks to the open fire wood pit most of the food gets cooked on. Menu consists of a good variety of locally procured food. Our party had BBQ Salmon, Halibut, and ribs and everyone loved their food. Soups were also excellent, fresh and authentic tasting. Service was a bit underwhelming as appetizer was unnecessarily slow and soups came our after the meals showed up, but poor service can be forgiven when the food tasted as good as it did. Restaurant is still new so they have some service training to take care of but the menu and chef are top notch. I rate the food on par with Bond 45 at National Harbor which is 5 stars."

  • "Go here for the nice view of the Patomic and spectacular sunset. The food was ok. The jerk chicken fondue was good. The ribs were tasty but. CHills quality for 2x the price. The rotisserie chicken was dry. Kids had the $12 burger. Service was so,so. We sAt outside so we did not get good attention on drink refills etc."

  • "Our 3rd visit to Redstone Grill and we still love it! From the special greeting at arrival to the tasty cocktails, lively bar staff or being inside or outside on the NH Plaza. The food is great w/huge portions. Buffalo Shrimp & Ahi Tuna are superb starters. Crab Cakes & Steaks, our favorites. We enjoy wines w/dinner and noted white wines need additional chilling. Our suggestion to add wine years on the menu making selection thoughtful and easier. Service is always delightful. For fun, watch the mechanical curtains lift to observe the sundown or Ferris Wheel as it came to life w/millions of lights... JUST AMAZING! Don't miss the Banana Crème or Key Lime Pie. PS: Buy the corn bread w/maple butter by the skillet and take home what’s leftover."

  • "It's a hot and poppin' place... very energetic, with the bar at the center of the restaurant. However the music volume was extremely loud, especially for the main dining areas. It was almost club loud, all over!"

  • "I visited Redstone because of a friend's recommendation and was glad I did, especially since I was hosting a friend visiting from abroad. My guest loved Redstone too. Also glad I made reservations because this is a busy restaurant in such an ideal location - @ National Harbor. We were seated on the semi-private, outdoor patio in the back area. Great view facing the Capitol Wheel @ sunset! Our server, Matt, was very personable and knew the menu well. His suggestions were spot on. We ordered baby back ribs and the grilled bbq salmon. Both excellent choices; the food was delicious! Always order the cornbread. Staff was professional from start to finish. That means a lot to me."

  • "The reason why because they have the best of all things related to someone night out with your loved ones . The scenic views, the atmospheric energy everyone's dream whenever you want to be with the one you love, the food was great! Service on point Pleasant and entertaining as well but if there's one thing I wanted was to be able too select my beverages that wasn't listed on the menu, please I have no. Complaints I will recommend The Redstone to all my friends and family and I have lots of people who loves to get timeout. Thanks so much for your business with us and bringing The Redstone Grill to my backyard see you again soon."

  • "The staff were wonderful and the views of the Harbour very relaxing. The aervice was awesome our waiter Slater was very tentative to our needs. The food was delicious especially the Buffalo Shrimp and the lodge cornbread ( totally to die for) My mother and I enjoyed ourselves and will be returning soon with others!! Thank you I am totally hooked"

  • "While the location is perfect and provides a scenic view, the food leaves much to desire. The calamari we ordered was a bit salty, slightly greasy, and overcooked. My main dish actually came out burnt on certain pieces. There was an issue with the food at the table behind us. I would not return."

  • "This was my second visit to Redstone. First time was excellent, food/service (ordered the burger) couldn't have been better. Others in my party ordered the Rib/chicken combo, and the crab cakes. Second visit, food lacked taste. I ordered the prime rib dip, they must have left the taste in the kitchen because it wasn't on the plate. Service was great though, our server, Heather, was very attentive and personable. Kudos to Redstone for personnel selection!"

  • "Overall, excellent experience. The quality of the food exceeded my expectations as the remaining restaurants within the National Harbor do not come close in food quality. The corn bread and cajun ribeye steak were second to none! My server, Lolita provided great service though she was very busy that evening. I've already recommended Redstone to friends and colleagues. We hope the service and good quality remains consistent."

  • "i enjoyed the food and the ambiance. i ordered the rib eye steak and it was huge and cooked just right. the broccoli was undercooked and didn't have any flavor to it. the cornbread wedge was very tasty and one of my favs (like that i could order a wedge). the place was packed but i liked the ambiance and the seats were nice and comfy. the views are phenomenal especially the outdoor seating facing the Ferris wheel. the waiter was very chatty yet experiences. i would definitely go back again."

  • "I picked this place to take my parents out on fathers day. What a mistake. I do understand it was a special day and I didnt expect super fast service. The service was horrible. It took over an hour to get are food. When we did receive the food it was cold. Multiple people were complaining about the service. Do not go to this place on a special occasion. I ordered a burger which was cold and not in the least good. You would think it would have been after an hour. Waitress was not attentive at all nor did she ever ask how are food was. Never asked if we needed anything. The managers liked to come around after you are already done with your meal trying to figure out how you like the experience. It would have been nice to see that sooner."

  • "Our waitress was good. She was pleasant and made good suggestions for meals. The atmosphere was great. Our table overlooked the Potomac. It almost seemed that we were eating on top of the water. All of our selections for brunch were good. The cornbread with maple butter was a treat. My only negative was that we had to talk over the music."

  • "Service was extremely poor. Mixed up our orders and after waiting for 25 minutes to have error corrected we demanded our check and left. How do you screw up an egg order and not fix the mistake right away. Very slow service - staff disorganized."

  • "The hostesses were having a verbal disagreement on the seating and server ratio. There was loud music in the restaurant and outside of the restaurants on an early Sunday morning. In addition, the food took extremely long to be served. When the food was served they forgot the syrup and fruit cup. Overall the experience was disappointing. I was looking forward to trying dinner and the wine."

  • "Certain items were good and certain items were below average. Their complimentary blueberry corn cake was absolutely delicious. The pancakes on the brunch menu were entirely too big and had not taste or flavor, whatsoever. Service was extremely slow and I had heard that from several people who had previously gone. Has the potential to be amazing, just needs to do a better job in certain areas."

  • "Dining experience on June 14, 2014. The server was pleasant and attentive. However, the food was poor to say the least. We ordered from the brunch menu and all of our meals a party of 6 were less than edible. I was surprised the kitchen would the meals out in the fashion that they did. All the meals came out cold. The breakfast potatoes were burnt and had a gasoline taste to the them. The eggs were hard and overcooked. The salmon omelet was extremely salty. The bacon was very cold and also overcooked! We had to request the manager twice to take of the matter. Great atmosphere but horrible experience with the meals."

  • "We were very pleasantly surprised by our first visit here. Our food was delicious! The cornbread was absolutely fabulous, and we agreed we'd come back just to get more! Our main courses were also great (Parmesan-encrusted walleye and a smokehouse steak salad). All in all, we had a wonderful meal here and definitely plan to return soon."

  • "We tried Redstone for the first time and were disappointed with the poor quality and small portions in relation to very high prices. the hamburgers were so burnt on the outside we had to take a knife and cut off the layer of char. French fry portions extremely small. On the upside, the Steak Cobb Salad had a nice flavor. View of the waterfront was wonderful. In sum, we've 'checked that box" and don't think its worth a return trip."

  • "This place is great for outdoor dining, the food was amazing!!! The service was terrible. A party sitting next to me at another table, dropped a glass the glass broke. The waiter never came back to remove the glass from the ground. It was another accident waiting to happen. Someone could have hurt themselves terribly. I thought about reporting it to the manager but I never did. The place needs an overhaul of more professional waiters/staff. Even when greeted at the door; I had a reservations and for some reason the hostess couldn't find my name even after me showing the confirmation from open table."

  • "We went on a Friday night at 5:30 because that was the only available slot. We asked to be seated outside. It was sunny, about 80 degrees. That area (~ 6 tables), faces the water and has a view of the wheel, the pier and the statue. 5:30 is not a great time because the area faces west so we had the heat and the sun. I would suggest mid day or sunset. We ordered the corn bread full pan which we (2) ate about 2.5 pieces of 8. My wife got the Sweet Corn Chowder with shrimp. No fish smell, so thick I used a fork to try some, very good. We split the full ribs. They were very good. The cole slaw was fresh, but had little flavor, just cabbage). Fries were great. That meal was about $70 with 1 beer and 1 tea. Next time, sunset! "
