Awesome FoodThis was my third time at Redeye Grill. As with my previous visit the food was delectable. The service was not as wonderful as it normally is. I am not sure what to attribute this to but for a terrific seafood meal, Redeye Grill is a sure deal.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI went to this restaurantI went to this restaurant for the Cobb Salad and it was as wonderful as ever.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat choicesEveryone in our group ordered something different. I had surf turf kabobs which were great! Just right amount of food. Cooked perfectly. Shrimp are huge! Scallops had a really nice flavor - caramelized perfectly. Soft shell crab roll was a special. We shared it and all enjoyed it. Consistently fine food.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Great MealWe have eaten at Redeye Grill several times, and it seems each time the dining experience got better. The friendly warm greeting at the door, being seated cordially, an attentive waitstaff and, of course, an excellent meal all contributed to a wonderful dining experience. We highly recommend Redeye Grill to anyone wishing to have a an excellent meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid quality at a heady priceYears ago, the Redeye Grill used to be a frequent haunt but became too expensive for my taste. I returned to try it once again this week and found it still quite competent and still too expensive. The setting is attractive - with adequate space, large windows and good light. The service is professional but lacking in warmth. The food is quite good but, at least with our orders, lacking any particular spark of drama or creativity. The bread was unexceptional; the butter was fresh.
This week I was one half of an older couple attending pre-theater so we were inclined to keep the meal light. We shared a half dozen oysters, ordered 2 entrees, shared a draft beer, a dessert and 2 coffees; the bill, with gratuity, was a tad over $130.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyable experience.I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The staff are charming, knowledgeable and the food was fresh and tasty. I look forward to my next visit to NY to try this place for dinner.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMRedeye Grill Sushi & Seafood TooHad a great meal at Redeye. Started off with Fried Calamri. It is done crispy, but not overcooked. So if you like it firm rather than rubbery, it is great here. The pan seared scallops were also delicious. They literally just melt in your mouth. Also, for one of the entrees we had Sushi. Picked the Spice Tuna (which was crispy and delicious) and Salmon roll. Thought I would be eating "light" with picking two Sushi Rolls. It was PLENTY. The wine seemed to be a bit high priced, so we just had a single glass each. Overall the value for the price was great. It is a convenient ;location at the Central Park end of 7th Avenue, away from all the crowded city streets of Time Square, although you can stroll down there after dinner.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Sushi Ever!Really great! Worth the big bucks! We had a 15 year anniversary dinner and all I can say is that my wife whom has eaten there before kept saying wow!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBrussels sprouts are divineI have been going to Redeye for years, but not often enough. everytime i go, I am mad at myself, that I do not go enough. The food is always perfectly presented and taste just as wonderful. The brussels sprouts are probaly the best I have tasted. you wanted to lick the bowl.
The blackberry cabarnet Sorbet is exquisite to finish off your meal. And you can never go wrong with the service. Gina was amazing and so accomodating. It was my friends birthday and i said it in passing when we were ordering and automatically put the sparkler candle in the sorbet we split without me requesting.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good brunchBrunch here is generally a good bet. The food is tasty and the menu is large enough so that there is something for everyone. I had the crabcake with eggs Benedict and was very happy.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst choice for Special OcassionsWe discovered this place in 2006 and have been coming here to celebrate ever since. Great food great atmosphere and a short work to Central Park.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI believe that this restaurantI believe that this restaurant is very overpriced. I would not return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA visit to City Center or CarnegieRed Eye Grill is a must! Biggest shrimps in a shrimp cocktail ( and delicious ) a varied and tastey menu, widely spaced tables so that you can hear and converse, all make this restaurant a worthy destination.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent steak, attentiveExcellent steak, attentive staff and a place that I will go back to.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience...very expensive!Always a good food, service and atmosphere experience. However, prices have gotten harder to swallow. My lobster Cobb salad was truly filled with lobster including two big, meaty claws. Erica, our waitress, was very friendly and was the best waitperson we encountered on this trip to NYC. Don't miss dessert, especially the banana cream pie.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good though a bit more flavor? We chose Redeye for its proximity to Carnegie hall and we were not disappointed. The wait staff was great. Throughout our meal we were offered fresh baked items from the kitchen and extremely friendly service. If I could mention one thing it would be that the food, although very good, could have had a bit more flavor. When i go to Carnegie again, I will go there. By the way, Order the "Crunchy Spicy Tuna" sushi roll...4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMRedeye Grill is always a greatRedeye Grill is always a great choice if you are looking for fresh and well made seafood. It was a wonderful restaurant. They bake their own bread and it is delicious. Decor is new and very attractive, and menu is diverse and appealing. The service was excellent as well. We had had less than stellar experiences at the "old" Redeye Grill, but this new incarnation appears very successful, in this first visit back, in all ways. We will return.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBig windows creating an airyBig windows creating an airy ambiance; appealing American-style menu with an emphasis on sea food; tasty preparations; attentive service. So is something wrong with Redeye Grill? The chief fault: Its prices seem high for what you get. They're not out-of-sight, but they're hard to justify. The food is good but not so special that the high cost seems deserved. Still, the experience is pleasant (until the bill comes).3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA Fine Dining ExperienceThe service of the professional and courteous staff was beyond measure. Our waiter was extremely helpful and attentive. The meal was absolutely amazing!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMStellar live music. LotsStellar live music. Lots of room between tables. I had grilled arctic char and my wife had grilled trout and both were fresh and well cooked.
A spicy crab roll was deliicoius but the roasted brussel sprouts were too sweet and too oily.
Drinks were pricey, but hey, this is NYC.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe seafood was superb. IThe seafood was superb. I liked the fact that you could have the entrees served several ways. The bar was a great after dinner night cap w/ small goup seting & soft piano music. Great ambience3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNice open floorplan, comfortableNice open floorplan, comfortable seats, great fresh seafood selections, friendly & efficient service, but bring your bank book.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was never a restaurantThis was never a restaurant you'd visit to eat cheap, and you'd expect to pay a something extra for the live jazz band, but it seems to me prices have gotten a bit out of hand . Simple fish entrees now start in the $32+ range, a lackluster baby lettuce salad with goat cheese, (but only a single, half-dollar-size slice of it), ran in the double-digits. Wine by the glass ran $11 and up. For our main course my date and I ordered plain broiled fish, and that's what we got, smallish and sharing the plate only with a tablespoon or so of garnish. Sides, if we wanted them, were extra. They even charge for bread, which we passed up. With a shared dessert, a glass of wine each and tip, my check for two was over $175. Byebye, Redeye!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ambience with jazzWonderful ambience with jazz trio providing a wonderful musical accompaniment and giving the Redeye Grill a great vibe. Pleasant and attentive wait staff. Excellent steaks and seafood. Brussell sprouts outstanding. Onion rings were weak - over breaded and a bit flavorless. Steaks were outstanding and prepared as ordered for all diners.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there for lunch onWe were there for lunch on 3/17. We often dine at the Redeye as we stay at the Manhattan Club when we are in NYC. The service was outstabding as was the food.
