Have been there so any times in the past 20 years. It use to be in my neighborhood . Wasn't that impressed this time around prices have gone up and for less food. We have better finds for that price restaurants on the upper west side...

We alway dine at Redeye Grill before attending a Carnegie Hall concert. They do their best to get us done in time for the show and yet provide an enjoyable dining experience. Food is tasty and presentation is lovely. They have nice touches like coming around with a variety of bread choices. Wine list is varied. Even though there was no time for dessert they offered cute delicious butter cookies with our coffee. Of course, there is always a little sweet at the door when entering and exiting. Nice

Hostess was very friendly and gave us a choice of table. Lobster rolls were delicious but light on the lobster. The wine list was excellent. The appetizer of Guacamole was "to share", but we found it to be enormous!!! For my tastes, this restaurant would be a better value for dinner.

We used to enjoy an almost ritual lunch before CityCenter programs. The food was always plentiful and delicious, even though the tabs were a bit pricey. This time we found the food not so plentiful. The oversize portions shrunk. My husband's lobster roll was to contain 1/2 the meat in a 2lb. lobster. Hardly! And no brioche roll either. The salads were skimpy. Another try - once more - and then we three will switch. Sorry.

I have to mention Scott because he was such an excellent waiter. Helpful and attentive. He went above and beyond when it came to splitting the check too by doing it just the way we needed it. If I ever go back there when I come to NY, I will ask for one of his tables!

Menu offering notably missing the "dancing shrimp." We liked the new more open seating & bar. Great service. All food was unfortunately lackluster or bland. Disappointed with appetizer sashimi yellowfin, crab & lobster lasagne, diver scallops. Would give 5 stars but just not worthy.

A bit pricey but large enough to handle last minute diners and res for larger groups. good for pre-theatre dinner or an entire evening. Our steaks were excellent ( but out of porterhouse at 6p on a saturday night??) vegetables and signature salad were acceptable but not memorable. entrees are large enough to split. Good location and will be back.

My son and I were there early on a Saturday for lunch. We were attended to right away. We were not rushed and our order came as requested. The food was fantastic as was the service. We shared the seafood platter, which was a bit pricer for what it was. My son had the steak, which he said was terrific, and I had the cod which was great. Would absolutely recommend for a special occasion, and for any other meal. The prices are a bit pricey, but it is New York.

The Service at this restaurant was exceptional. The food was very good too. We sat near the window in a circular booth, was great for a group of 6 and although the restaurant was loud, it was very manageable. The filets were excellent, my side of asparagus was stringy and not very seasonal. Otherwise that, I would highly recommend. Also, they came around a few times with freshly baked cookies on a cookie tray offering them to the tables. Very nicely done!

My friend was in from Florida and I had been to the Redeye before and I knew she would love it. We had a 5:30 reservation on Saturday night after we saw the Jersey Boys. We first had two drinks at the bar which were fabulous and the bar is very lovely and lively. Then we were seated at a really nice table for two on the end and both of us had a nice view. By 6/6:30 the place was packed. We both had steak. I had the filet mignon and she had the ribeye. They were cooked to perfection. We also had a side of fries and the french string beans. The sides were more than enough and the fries tasted like they were cooked to order and they never ended. Would go again in a heartbeat. Excellent restaurant in a great location.

Unfortunately, the food at the RedEye Grill is quite ordinary. That is a shame because the room is large and lovely, the noise level energetic without being intrusive, and the service better than average. If only the food lived up to the rest of the experience.

Every once in a while we return to Red Eye Grill, a large, flashy restaurant which is someone's idea of what a New York restaurant (not an elegant one) should be. The host station was manned by a suit who without his glasses could not find our reservation; fortunately he was saved by an elegant young woman whose grace made up for his myopia. Everything on the menu always reads as wonderful, but the food, no matter what is ordered, is surprisingly ordinary tasting. The prices would be easier to accept if the food were better. No doubt we will return but not for some time.

We have eaten here many times, but found our latest visit disappointing. The tables for two are quite close in typical NY fashion, but the gentleman at the table next to us was so loud that we were unable to have a conversation and they moved our table closer to him during the meal to give the couple on our other side room to get into their seat. Service was also only mediocre - expect more from Redeye. When our food was served the waiter did not come by to ensure that everything was good. I had finished my wine with my appetizer and would have like another glass, but he was not there to ask. We also had to approach him while he was at the table next to us to get our bill. Trout almandine was excellent - perfectly fileted & prepared.

A dear old friend of mine lives abroad and every October comes to NYC on a business trip, he misses good American Bistro style food, and REDEYE Grill is one of his favorite spots, if for nothing else but the amazing Lobster Cobb Salad. As far as great American Bistro's that would include some of Chicago's finest, REDEYE stands on it's own with need to compare. If you want steak and lobster and an over sized amazing hot dog, then The REDEYE Grill is your premier dinning choice.

They loved it - the musicians, great food, upbeat and bright atmosphere. Out waiter was awesome. We started with wine and immediately warm chocolate chip cookies arrived. I expect tables nearby were on dessert, but what a great pre-appetizer. The chef was very accommodating and prepared a meal that was not on the menu. This is a great pre-theatre destination and as good afterwards when there's no rush.

We ordered the crispy artichokes and they were so crispy we couldn't even chew them. Our server said that was they way they were supposed to be. Everyone around us got bread at the start of the meal, our waiter forgot. Our drinks were great but it took us 3 requests to get lemon twists. Finally, we ordered the crab legs which were only slightly warm. Lastly, the waiter never came by to ask how the meal was. Overall, the ambience of the restaurant was very nice but the service and food was disappointing especially given the cost of the meal. Not planning on returning.

Although a nice, comfortable room, the tables are pretty close together. The menu is superior except for the prices. Even by NYC standards the cost for three people was pretty steep. The food was good but not spectacular. The cocktails were pricey as well and highballs were skimpy on the booze. I. Would go back if for nothing else but the herb fresh cut fries.

The service was good but not excellent like usual. I had asked for tartar sauce to accompany my Cod but it did not come with the fish, much later, after many reminders, after I was almost done with the entree The rolls were late too, and when they passsed arounb the frech cookies, we were just starting out main course, but he never returned. Thserver was busines like and efficient, not gracious and solicitous. I should mention that the Copd and the cheesecake were outstanding. There were 2+ fried oysters with the salad, and that was a little chincy, for $5 extra. Weree they fresh or canned?
