ReddAwesome Food! The food and service was first rate. The next time I'm in napa I plan to go again.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMario was our waiter and fromMario was our waiter and from the beginning he made us all (4) feel very welcome. Everything was perfect. The food was the best. Our table choose the fix menus. Mine with the wine pairing and they did a super job. To finish the evening with a Porto from Cabernet was the exclamation point.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMNice quiet anniversary lunch spotWe thought one of us wanted a particular menu item, but when we asked our waiter for recommendations he said it was his least favorite dish and gave us a few other options. I love it when servers give you an honest answer! We ordered 2 of the items he suggested, the petrale sole and the lamb, and a side of onion rings. They gave us the butternut soup appetizer "to try", and we LOVED it! The onion rings were the best I've ever had, even though quite salty. My husband had the sole, which was very good, and my lamb was perfectly tender and tasty. Everything else on my lamb plate was delicious, especially the polenta, kale, sauce and cippolinis! I will recommend this place to friends who are in the area. That soup was amazing!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the 5 course tastingWe had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. It was fabulous. The chef accommodated our requests. Every dish wowed us. The tasting menu is different for both parties so we had the opportunity to sample 10 dishes. The wines were excellent. Service and ambiance perfect. This gets an A rating from us as one of our most memorable dining experiences.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting menu is the way to goWe were thinking of ordering the tasting menu, but any doubts we had on looking at all the specific tasty options on the menu before us disappeared on the advice of our server. Being happy to share, the two of us could enjoy not just the five courses of the tasting menu, but basically ten; my partner was served one set of five dishes and I was served the other. This way, we each ate half of our course, then happily switched plates. Double the culinary enjoyment! Not only did our food work this way, but so did our wines, as the pairing of the wine was different for the different foods served, as well. And it was all excellent.
We ate outside on the patio, which provides plentiful shade. Highly, highly recommended.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent in every respect.Excellent in every respect. A small and intimate wine-country spot that lived up to its food billing. An interesting menu with unique chef created dishes scaled to what the kitchen can deliver. If I were a local, it would be on the top 1% list.
It is on my go-to list on the next visit.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Great ServiceWe had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. We were able to try 10 different items off of thier menu which were all superb. The service was excellent as well. We will be back the next time we are in Yountville.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodNapa Valley staple. Excellent food and very nice staff. We had a simple lunch that was delicious. Of course, the wine list is impeccable.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMMy Comments abaout EXCELLENT ReddRedd Restaurant in Yountville has EXCELLENT/VERY GOOD food, service, wine list/bar area, indoor and outdoor dining and Redd ABSOLUTELY is a "YES, let's go BACK AGAIN, and AGAIN" type of wonderful restaurant!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEXCELLENT YOUNTVILLE GEM!!!Outstanding dining experience in Yountville!!! Excellent service staff, beautiful ambiance and outstanding, creative menu with careful preparation and presentation. Wine list is extensive and the sommelier is very helpful.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSuch a Treat! My husband and I wanted something special and had heard about Redd. We had the halibut and an appetizer. The food was prepared perfectly and the service was prompt and courteous. Will definitely return and bring friends.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good and interesting,Food was good and interesting, ambience was clean and modern. Service was delayed and sloppy for a high end restaurant.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGood lunch & service!Very accommodating with food allergies. Izzy was a great server! Ask for light dressing on the salad.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMarvelous lunchLast minute decision to head to napa for lunch Greeted warmly followed by attentive service. Hamachi was a great starter As was shrimp salad . Great flavors and beautifully presented. Liked but didn't love lettuce cups or pork buns. Will have scallops next time. Wonderful place. Will return probably with friends so we explore more of menu.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding FoodThis is one of the best places to eat in Yountville were you can get great food, excellant service without being stuffy.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Spot for a Special CelebratioI took my husband to Redd to celebrate his 70th birthday this week and it couldn't have been better. The service, atmosophere and food were terrific.
I look forward to celebrating another occasion and will DEFINATELY return for another great food adventure..........the food was superb!!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!We have been to all top restaurants in Napa right now and Redd is still one of the top ones!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second dinnerThis was our second dinner meal in the valley and it easily topped the first (at FARM). The hostess was able to add an unexpected guest to our party and seated us immediately. Service was attentive and professional. Appetizers and entrees were innovative and delicious. The wine list is extensive (29 pages) but laid out in a tedious way. All five of us greatly enjoyed the meal from start to finish. I would happily return to Redd and I highly recommend it.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch was not great....ok,Brunch was not great....ok, but not for that price5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, heavenly lunch.Wonderful, heavenly lunch. Great restaurant. Personable and attentive waiter.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulFour of us all ordered the tasting menu. The food was absolutely outstanding. One of the most memorable experiences we have had in a while.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a treat! My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with the wine paired tasting menu- what a treat! We were showered with impeccable service and the food was divine. By far, the best food in Napa valley! We will be returning for sure!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst the short rib, thenFirst the short rib, then the steak tartine, now the butterscotch pudding... favorites keep dropping from the lunch menu! However, this is STILL the best lunch in Napa. The food is outstanding, the service is superb, and there never seems to be a misstep... now if only they would bring in a new butterscotch pudding...5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMVery tasty food! The diver scallops over a cauliflower puree was very tasty. My friend had the pork bun and it was and looked delicious also. We were there for lunch and I would like to go back and see what flavors the dinner menu offers. The meyer lemon sorbet with meringue and angel food cake was also very good - nice and lemony. Was slightly disappointed with the luncheon menu...there could have been two or three more offerings. However, what they did offer they did very, very well.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was good, the food,Everything was good, the food, the wine, the service. The place is ok, very clean.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMRedd Rocks!Definitely a must! Food was divine! Chef is lively- could hear him yelling from the kitchen! Loved knowing he was passionate about what he does ad it shows by the excellent food!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMConvient to our hotel. ReservationsConvient to our hotel. Reservations were hard to get at the time we wanted but it was worth it to eat early. If you're a burger & fries
person this is not for you. A must is the asparagus salad - I'm still thinking about it. Also the steak and the scallops. A definite
go back to. Service was also outstanding. A bit pricey, but worth it!!!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMReddI had another excellent meal at Redd recently. I started with the Sashimi hamachi w/ sticky rice, edamame, & ginger sauce. It also had some seaweed salad, Japanese cucumber, and a little chili oil. It all worked well together. The dish was beautifully presented.
Next I had the Caramelized diver scallops w/ cauliflower puree, almonds, & balsamic reduction. I absolutely LOVED this dish. It also had currents, raisins, and sauteed cauliflower. The scallops were so fresh and cooked absolutely perfectly. Moan-worthy! I wasn't thrilled w/the pork belly buns, but enjoyed my Baked Alaska for dessert. I had to nearly roll myself out the door, but man oh man was my stomach happy. Redd totally rocks!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous!Redd is our all time favorite restaurant in the Wine Country (Yountville). We had lunch there this time and every dish we ordered was superb; Duck confit with lentils, prime NY steak sandwich, Asian pork buns and diver scallops. The food and service was outstanding and we can't wait to go back for dinner.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMJust plain deliciousWe ate at Redd on a Friday night which i s generally busy . Our reservation was early so there was no wait time to be seated. The hostess was attentive. Our waiter did not have much enthusiasm or pizazz--didn't try to sell us beyond the first glass of wine we ordered and we had to ask for tea. The star obviously is the food-. We had fabulous entrees-both fish and outstanding desserts. This place is a winner.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, poor service.Ordered the tasting menu for our table of 3. Everything came out perfect and delicious. However, I was disappointed in the dessert portions, which was only about 1 large bite worth of food. If trying Redd for the first time, I would recommend the tasting menu since there are two "sets" to the menu so essentially you get to taste 10 different dishes.
Service was ok, but was not too friendly or available. I expected much better.
We had two orders of arnold palmer and lemonade each, but both tasted much more sour and diluted on the second round. Should have better quality control over drinks.
Bar area was quite loud which ruined the dining atmosphere of the small restaurant.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious time!A lovely reflection of California modernist cuisine in a warm contemporary environment. A definite go to in napa!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMexceeded expectationsWent for my sister's birthday dinner (on a Tuesday night, and the place was still packed!). Service was prompt and courteous. Water was always filled. Didn't get bread though, but I think you have to ask for it which we failed to do. We got two freebie courses for the table to share/try. Not sure if that was because I had mentioned it was a birthday dinner, or if that's normal. All the food was excellent. Favorite dishes were the seared scallops and ny steak with short rib and bone marrow gnocchi. All the dishes were expertly prepared and at the perfect temperature. Prices are about average to maybe on the lower side for what it was. I would definitely go back and recommend it to friends.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! My boyfriend and I dined here on our recent trip to Napa, and this was by far our favorite restaurant we had visited. He has a culinary degree and owns a catering business, and my mother is an executive chef for a well known country club and we both were blown away by our meal. We chose to do the five course chef's tasting with wine pairings. The food was out of this world, I really can't put into words how much we enjoyed ourselves. The wine was decent; however, I don't think it held up to the meals presented to us. We had great service; they did however, pipe "Happy Anniversary" on our dessert plates - when in fact, it was not our anniversary. We really just got a good laugh about it. We will definitely be back on our next trip.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightfulMy Granddaughter and I went there for Mother's Day lunch.
It was delightful.
The Calamari was the best that I have ever had and the Menu made me want to order one of everything.
I would love to have the opportunity to return.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways WonderfulFour of us had Mother's Day brunch at Redd, my Yountville favorite. Three had egg dishes while I had the scallops. We began with oysters and fried calamari and finished with their lemon dessert. Everything was perfect as always. Thank you, Redd, for making Mother's Day even more special.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOUTSTANDING!Redd is now my favorite restaurant in Napa. Everything was so delish...appetizers (asparagus salad), main dish (Pork Tenderloin) and desserts (Bake Alaska and Butterscotch Pudding). My hubby had the Glazed Pork Belly, and Carmelized Scallops, also were delish! My friends had the Petrale Sole, Sautéed Skate Wings, Sashimi Hamachi...all were wonderful! I'm definitely coming back and bringing my adult children to Redd. Love, love, LOVE this place.
Oh....and the service was exceptional!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe'll be back.Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Redd. Excellent food, exceptional wine list and great service. Especially appreciated the help from the wine steward.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMJust wonderful!Had an amazing dinner here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We both loved everything! We can't wait to come back here again!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!Amazing meal, we had yellowtail, asparagus salad, halibut, and pork tenderloin. Interior was a bit stark and plain.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday brunchGreat brunch experience? Calamari was out of this world. Pork buns and Pot stickers very yummy, even tho dipping sauce was a bit too salty. Huevos rancheros some the best I have ever had. Excellent wine advise, with a fantastic napa Sauvignon blanc. Service helpful and attentive. Fabulous.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a delicious meal atWe had a delicious meal at Redd. I had a broccoli and cauliflower soup that was fantastic and some delicious scallops as my main course. My wife had an amazing lobster risotto and a perfectly done steak. The wait staff was very friendly and the ambiance was perfect for a romantic meal.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent tasting menu. We've been here a few times (all great), but this time we opted for the Tasting Menu.
There were four of us. To get the Tasting Menu, the entire table must order and we happily did, as it was a special occasion with good friends. The food was excellent, and well paired with great wines.. There were two different options per course, so each couple got 2 completely different courses. Nice touch. We were completely impressed at every step.
The staff at Redd is exceptional. Good fun.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely place for special occasionWe celebrated my friend's upcoming birthday with dinner at Redd. Interesting concept with the tasting menu offering five different courses and wines - per person. We tried some of each others dishes and wines and got to taste almost ten different courses and wines altogether! Very attentive and friendly service and all dishes were well presented. We also tried Redd Wood and really liked it as well. We cannot wait to go back to Yountville!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AM5 course lunch or dinner is greatThe 5-course lunch or dinner is perfect for couples as each person gets 5 courses that are different than your partners but are large enough to be shared. The wine pairing available is also very reasonably priced and works the same with a total of 10 different wines.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch for Ladies Adventure DayWe made reservations at Redd's thru Open Table - had an excellent lunch. Service was excellent and very friendly. The food was fresh and inventive. It is a bright, airy restaurant in the heart of Yountville. Would highly recommend it to anyone for any meal.
The trout crostini was my favorite dish.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Lunch!!! Amazing food.Great Lunch!!! Amazing food. 3rd time there & still excellent.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of the BestMy wife and I have frequented most if not all of the top restaurants in Yountville and Napa, and I must say, Redd is the best of the best. Yes, better than Bottega, Bouchon, Ad Hoc, Hurley's combined. The food is sepectacular, cooked and presented to perfection. The combination of flavors is fantastic. Whereas my wife and I feel (she being a chef herself), that those other restaurants try too hard to be "unique" and wind up being trendy and artificial, Redd excels on every level. Go go go. You cannot go wrong!
And the desserts. HOILY SH&*%! Amazing beyond belief.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMStill a good as ever!Last ate here in 2007, only slightly a year after it opened and it was fabulous! Have been back to Napa since then, but with so many good places to try, we had been a little afraid that it wouldn't live up to our first experience. No worries there! The food was absolutely fabulous...get the 5 course tasting menu and if there are two of you, each of you will get different 5 courses so you can really try 10 things! The highlights: Hamachi appetizer, duck (wow wow wow!), pork belly, and desserts - one a strawberry sorbet, the other chocolate. Service is efficient, unobtrusive and to me, highlighted our enjoyment of the food.
Definitely worth the $$!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been to REDD severalWe've been to REDD several times and was happy with REDD.
This was our friend's first time to REDD and my friends are Foodies.
They and we had grat time at REDD!
Keep doing what you're doing!
I think it is working.
