We both had pasta which was perfectly cooked: clams/pancetta and shrimp/fava beans. Simple, high quality ingredients. We also had the best asparagus that I've ever had: thick spears that had been parboiled the grilled. Served with a bit of olive oil and peccorino cheese. They also had a low price corkage fee, if you were interested in BYO. Good beer and wine list. Excellent salads. We dined at the fantastic REDD the following evening, and enjoyed both that upscale experience and this casual one. Everything about our experience was great--we were seated a few minutes before our reservation, really liked everything our waitress suggested (meatballs, ravioli, pizza, dark chocolate and sea salt tart and milk chocolate ice cream with peanut praline--yum!), and enjoyed the ambiance of the place--tons of good people watching, lively atmosphere. Neither of us had dined there previously, but both of us were extremely happy that we did that night. The decor and ambiance were beautiful, and the service fantastic. We started with the Calamari Fritto Misto with Aioli sauce for dipping, which was to die for. Next had the spinach spaghetti carbonara. It was exquisite. Lastly, we had the canolli washed down with limoncello(we had ordered moscato, however there was none in the restaurant. To the credit of the restaurant, the limoncello was comped because of the moscato incident.) The staff is warm and welcoming and they know that you are coming there to have a good time. There is a great vibe to the place and you know that you are going to enjoy good food and good libations. The cocktail list is great with some different twists to some old favorites. We had "The Bartlett" and "No Yo Manhatten." The minestrone soup was great as was the chopped salad. We shared the special pizza with meatballs. We finished the meal sharing the chcolate tart (outstanding). Our wine selection was the Italian Banditella which went very nicely with the pizza.
